In 1861 the Indian High Courts Act 1861 was enacted to create high courts for various provinces and abolished supreme courts at Calcutta, Madras and Bombay and also the sadar adalats in presidency towns which had acted as the highest court in their respective regions. These new high courts had the distinction of being the highest courts for all cases till the creation of Federal Court of India under the Government of India Act 1935. The Federal Court had jurisdiction to solve disputes between provinces and federal states and hear appeal against judgements of the high courts. The first CJI of India was H.J.Kania.[4]

The Supreme Court of India came into being on 28 January 1950.[5] It replaced both the Federal Court of India and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council which were then at the apex of the Indian court system.

Supreme court initially had its seat at Chamber of Princes in the parliament building where the previous Federal Court of India sat from 1937 to 1950. The first Chief Justice of India was Sir H J Kania. In 1958, the supreme court moved to its present premises. Originally, the Constitution of India envisaged a supreme court with a chief justice and seven judges; leaving it to parliament to increase this number. In formative years, the supreme court met from 10 to 12 in the morning and then 2 to 4 in the afternoon for 28 days in a month.

The building is shaped to symbolize scales of justice with its centre-beam being the Central Wing of the building comprising the chief justice s court, the largest of the courtrooms, with two court halls on either side. The Right Wing of the structure has the bar room, the offices of the Attorney General of India and other law officers and the library of the court. The Left Wing has the offices of the court. In all, there are 15 courtrooms in the various wings of the building.
The foundation stone of the supreme court's building was laid on 29 October 1954 by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India. The main block of the building has been built on a triangular plot of 17 acres and has been designed in an Indo-British style by the chief architect Ganesh Bhikaji Deolalikar, the first Indian to head the Central Public Works Department. It has a 27.6 m (90 ft 7 in) high dome and a spacious colonnaded verandah. The Court moved into the building in 1958. In 1979, two new wings the East Wing and the West Wing were added to the complex. 1994 saw the last extension.

Supreme court is the highest justice provider in India none other court can change its decision. And people also not have the Right to challenge its decision in any other court or judicial forum once a man has given the punishment is given by the supreme Court only president of India can change its decision if it is about hanging him or lifetime jail only one man the President can give him mafi . I also believe in my country's justice system. There is a line in Hindi that so if you can wait you will get the right decision in last.

India don't let Bitcoin be banned the world is ado...

India don't let Bitcoin be banned the world is adopting the new descentralised storage of wealth. You wouldn't want the people of India to miss out. Off course regulations are needed but prohibition is the dumbest you can do to your people. Don't forget this asset is scarce and only 21mill people will ever be able to own 1 full bitcoin. Most of the world wil use the 100.000.000 denomination called a Satoshi or milibitcoins 100mill Satoshi = 1 Bitcoin = being in de 0.2% of the world's population to ever own a full bitcoin. Just my and many more people's opinion. Bitcoin is not inflatable hense it's fixed number. It's descentralised so no government can freeze or stop it so not even the Indian government. It's unhackable Bitcoin has never been hacked only some exchanges or people that lost there private keys. We need Bitcoin custodian banks regulated to hold the Bitcoin for dumb people that are to careless to hold there keys safe. Descentralised storage of wealth is the only way to safe transact in the world of tommorow. Remember no inflation no printing money out of thin air anymore. Easy transport.

i) Due to terrorist and extremists threat perception, security has been very much tightened which is a welcome feature. However, on that pretext, senior citizens should not be treated in an uncivilized and disrespectful manner. On 04-7- 13, two security officials shadowed us from the main gate into the court hall and literally dragged us out of the court hall, the moment the Hon. Justice said something, perhaps, dismissing the case (W.P. No.316/2013) which was not audible in the din. It looked like a Kangaroo Court. When Hon. Justice overlooked a vital aspect of the case, I have tried to bring it to his kind notice but I was not permitted and me and my wife were taken out of the court hall holding our shoulders with all their strength (Thank God a Woman security official held my wife s shoulder) with brute force.
ii) Mike and public address system is to be arranged to ensure that the Hon. Judge s utterances/remarks are heard loudly with clarity.
iii) No proper seating arrangement is made to clients. We, old and infirm were forced to sit in the corridor in the sweltering heat until our turn came puffing and fuming.
iv) People who visit Supreme Court have no access to Canteen and the fate of the Diabetics and sick can very well be imagined as there is no Restaurant nearby. Lack of Drinking water coolers in adequate numbers.
v) Help Desks to be provided which are to be manned by the experienced people conversant with court procedures in filing .
vi) The charges for computer typing/scanning/binding to be prominently displayed to stop the present fleecing. The menace of touts to be curbed.
vii) There is stampede at the counters where documents are submitted with jostling and pushing. New building with ample elbow space and with cosy atmosphere is to be constructed for the convenience of the clients.
vii) There is an urgent need to open a stationery shop within the premises of the Supreme Court also as the one which is located now is on the other side of the road far away.

E Mail I D given in Web all mails bouncing back!! What is the use of E Mail id? I have been suffering from Injustice for last 20 years. There is all the way adjustment at Lower Courts staring from City Civil Court at Ahmedabad and High Court Level also.!!! I am ashamed to write this on web. Recently High Court of Gujarat at Ahmedabad has amended High Court Rules for Party In Person. !! He can not appear unless Committee Constituted by High Court of Gujarat permits to appear . Other wise the doors of High Court are closed for party in person. This is against Fundamental Rights of a person Granted under sacred Constitution of India !!! At High Court level such things are allowed. I have also pointed this question some time back to Hon. Chief Justice of Supreme Court of India!!! No results!!!!

The Supreme Court of India is the highest judicial court under the Constitution of India, the highest constitutional court, with the power of judicial review. Consisting of the Chief Justice of India and a maximum of 34 judges, it has extensive powers in the form of original, appellate and advisory jurisdictions. It is regarded as the most powerful public institution in India.

As the constitutional court of the country, it takes up appeals primarily against verdicts of the high courts of various states of the Union and other courts and tribunals. It safeguards fundamental rights of citizens and settles disputes between various government authorities as well as the central government vs state governments or state governments versus another state government in the country.
As an advisory court, it hears matters which may specifically be referred to it under the constitution by President of India. It also may take cognisance of matters on its own (or suo moto), without anyone drawing its attention to them. The law declared by the supreme court becomes binding on all courts within India and also by the union and state governments. Per Article 142 of the constitution, it is the duty of the president to enforce the decrees of the supreme court.
Legal-aid, court-fee vendors, first-aid post, dental clinic, physiotherapy unit and pathology lab; rail-reservation counter, canteen, post office and a branch and 3 ATMs of UCO Bank, supreme court Museum can be availed by litigants and visitors.

Mother and Child Sculpture
On 20 February 1980, a black bronze sculpture of 210 cm (6 ft 11 in) height was installed in the lawn of the supreme court. It portrays Mother India in the form of the figure of a lady, sheltering the young Republic of India represented by the symbol of a child, who is upholding the laws of land symbolically shown in the form of an open book. On the book, a balance beam is shown, which represents dispensation of equal justice to all. The sculpture was made by the renowned artist Chintamoni Kar. The sculpture is just behind the statue of Mahatma Gandhi.
The design of the Court's seal is reproduced from the wheel that appears on the Sarnath Lion capital of Ashoka with 24 spokes. The inscription in Sanskrit, (IAST: Yato Dharmastato Jaya , means "whence justice (dharma), thence victory". It is also referred as the wheel of righteousness, encompassing truth, goodness and equity.
