CBV is 3 communities under one roof. Whatever your needs, this facility provides for those who are capable of living independently, need assistance with daily life including special needs like dementia and skilled nursing. There are activities for each area, and some are combined to include all. Shortly before Christmas 2019, our family moved mom to the Terrace within CBV. I felt she could receive better care than where she was living because of her declining cognitive abilities. I was not disappointed. The activity director made a point of including all to participate in the events of the day. Meals are served in a relaxed dining room, with assigned seating so the residents can get to know their table mates. The servers are taught to observe and report eating problems to the nurse. Then COVID hit in March. Mom had been living there only 3 months and now everything changed. We could no longer visit in person. However, almost from the beginning, their IT crews made it possible to Facetime or Skype weekly with the residents by appointment.

I m sad to say that this spring, Mom s condition declined and she had to leave the Terrace and be moved to the Pavilion, skilled nursing. Being in the middle of the pandemic, family members could not help with the move, so the staff took care of everything, packing Mom s belongings and making her new room comfortable with some of her cherished possessions.

Throughout this entire pandemic, the communication was outstanding! There were daily updates by email stating all that was being done to keep the residents and staff safe. The transparency of the communication was impressive. They reached out to family members of the residents to help however they were able purchase goodies for Easter baskets, sew masks for the residents, and more. We were all in this together! Outdoor visits soon started. Tents were constructed in the Memory Garden and parking lots. Registering online for a visit could not have been easier.

The community is a warm, friendly environment staffed by people who truly care, not only about their residents, but about the family members too. If you are considering CBV for an aging member of your family, I believe they will love living here. My only regret is we didn t move Mom here FIRST when she could no longer live alone. It took living at a different facility to realize there is better out there. We found it at CBV.
