Went to go drop off a baby bird I found at the Stray building. Went to the front desk and the lady assisting me had zero customer service. Looking around, the place was a mess. Literally right behind the front counter was a trash can beyond full of syringes and some on the floor, chemicals, a mop in a mop bucket, and trash all over the place. This is only what the front looked like, I don't even want to imagine what the back looks like. Poor animals. This place seriously needs some deep cleaning. Definitely not a sanitary place for animals. Who knows I could be wrong, but first impressions are everything.

They were so friendly; today they had a low cost clinic which they host twice a month, every first and third Wednesday. They recommend to arrive as early as 7:30, they start at 8, because of the long line!

They we're professional, fast, and extremely informative about the stray we had come across in bad shape, he needed medical attention badly as it had been attacked by another dog. They said they were going to do what they could and the dog was chipped too. They let me know that they were going to try to contact the owners who have 10 days to claim the dog, and they gave me the dogs intake number to later inquire about in the event that the owners don't claim him.

I did leave the building feeling that they were going to do all they could including getting ahold of the dogs owners.
Hopefully, if all goes well with his health and the owners haven't claimed him, I wouldnt be apposed to adopting him.

Took 3 baby kittens there that were neglected by their young feral mother cat. Assumed they would care for them and put them up for adoption. Guess what... this is NOT a no kill shelter, beware! They said they had too many animals and will euthanize them! Took my box back, said a few choice words and left this place...won't be back!

I never like going to the SPCA unless I'm adopting a kitty. My last five visit unfortunately was for that. I live in a mobilehome park and my neighbor want to continue to breed feral kittens and turn them into strays. I've been trying to get someone to help me with this madness but no one will. I don't understand how the SPCA doesn't or can't get authority to stop this man from producing cats that are just going to be killed because they are raised in the wild and aggressive. If I was in the city then they would intervene but because I'm in a mobilehome park they won't. I'm sure the five i took in didn't have a chance. And it's not the SPCA fault either. How they going to adopt a cat or kittens out if it hisses at you or can't be catch? They cant no one can not even a no kill shelter they won't even except it if it can't be rehabilitate. As long as my neighbor continues to breed then they will die . So if you know anyone that will help me stop the killing let me know.

SPCA is amazing they take care all the animals. They have a educational program that my oldest was in when he was 10 and now my middle child is in the program and he's eight. The children learn so much about different animals and how to take care of them. The best part is the educator or teacher is really awesome with all the children. SPCA truly try to find good homes for all the pets

I went in to drop off a stray dog. I was told I had to wait until they open. I had a migraine at the time and it took everything I had to take this poor dog in. I was then told I had to give them my ID or I would be charged with felony dog abandonment. The woman behind the counter, with WWWAAAYYY too much makeup, (she needed it) was rude and the fat wanna be cop with the fake badge thought he was tough threatening me with a felony crime. That'll be the last time I take a stray dog into them.

Had to reluctantly surrender two cats I had since birth due to moving cross country. They are 13 year old siblings but doing well. Michelle Russ handled the intake and was most kind, understanding, and patient in answering my questions. I just called to check their status and happily was told by the operator that both were adopted together. As I hung up, I had a voicemail from Anthony from the adoption center giving me the same news. He also was very understanding and even relayed info to the owners of the food I gave the cats per my request. Thanks to the wonderful staff and volunteers there, as well as to all those who have adopted!!

I wish I could give 0 stars. I have been calling every day now since LAST Friday. There is a deceased cat on the property I manage and we dispatched them out last Friday to come pick it up. I even called the after hours number last night because the call just kept hanging up while calling throughout the day. This is a HUGE safety and health hazard here; there are a lot of children that walk around and play in the common areas here. I've had 3 separate concerned tenants complain to me about it. After our last bad experience with the SPCA, I decided to make a review this time. 2 weeks ago we found a stray dog in pretty bad shape. Did not have the medical capacity or knowledge to help this poor dog but once it was stable we did have the means to foster it for as long as needed. After trying every other avenue we had no choice but to call the SPCA to help. They picked the dog up, gave us an ID number and told us to call the next day to find out any info they discover about the dog and how to go about fostering it. We called the next 2 days. We were told they haven't found anything yet, just that he was an older dog. I called the next day and they told me they put him down. I will never recommend the SPCA to anyone EVER. DO NOT USE THEM UNLESS ITS A LAST RESORT, honestly. These animals deserve better. All their lives matter.

Outstanding customer service on behalf of an employee who I spoke to over the phone today, regarding an incident that occurred yesterday evening involving a dog attack. The employee was understanding and gave much importance to the issue. The employee did send an animal control officer to my house in less than an hour.

I will say, I was on hold for 57 minutes waiting to speak with a representative.

PLEASE ANSWER YOUR PHONES! Phone never ranged when I was sitting there waiting.
Someone brought in a puppy with parvo and the employees put the dog on the counter.
They picked the dog up and a guy came in and relaxed his arms on the counter. The employees didn't sanitize the counter top or their hands before handling another stray animal. (Cross contamination).
The place reeks of animal feces . I almost puked!
SOOO sad and disturbing! Never will I bring my kids back again! My kids was really sad.

They will use their system to track you down and cite you for dog licenses so be aware if you get services by them. They supposedly go door to door to cite people but so far the people who have been cited that I know had their dogs vaccinated there. Their neighbors who also had pets received no citations even though they have no license and let their dogs roam. Awful. Do not go here! Go elsewhere

I have eye witnessed the employees kicking the dogs once when I went to pick my puppy when the SPCA came into my back yard and pulled my dogs out (3,) because I was not home. Neighbors witnessed what they were doing, called authorities and More

Very poor care of animals. Recently adopted a cute 10 month old terrier mix and brought her home to find out that not only was she severly dehydrated and underweight for her size but she also had an upper respiratory infection but also had kidney damage due to lack of medical care. They also spayed her and the vet that saw her after I brought her home said that her immune system was not in good enough shape to undergo surgery at the time. Needless to say no animal should be held or treated in these conditions. Hopefully my sweet new pup does not have to be put to sleep due to the conditions in which she was kept.

Just had the SPCA officer come by and pick up a stray female sheperd. The dog had found her way to our shaded porch. For the few days she had come. She would wander off and then return when the heat peaked. She'd bar the doorway when we needed to leave home. Something needed to be done. And although we were not comfortable calling the shelter, we did. The officer came by shortly after we called into the SPCA. After he arrived and stood in front of the dog. She barked at him to keep him at a distance . Prior to his visit I had had a similar experience with her. Despite her protest, the officer was very patient and spoke to her kindly. Eventually he caught her. Still as they drove off together, I was concerned for - as many know the plight that dogs face in shelters.

I got online to see what reviews there were that might be reassuring. While there were some negative ones, there were positve ones as well.
The most helpful ones were those that provided a broader perspective about the over population of pets and the abuse to animals. These issues are not select to Fresno. Neither are the financial constrictions that befall shelters including the Fresno SPCA.

I recognize that not all volunteers in shelters sometime relate better to animals I am thankful I have had good experiences with both regular staff and those that are volunteers.

In the past over a period of time, I have gotten three puppies from this shelter. As of the last time that I saw my two last dogs one was was 12 years old (Elsa my very friendly golden retriever). And Z was 8 years old, a sheltie mix who turned out to have stubby short legs. Z when inside of my yard would run to the fence and with much bravado bark to send the alarm that strangers were approaching, and then Elsa would back him up with an even louder bark. Still an intruder got in through the gates one day and took them away.

One of the things that consistently occurred as I searched for my dogs quite amazed me and gave me hope. I grew up at a time when you were familiar with many of your neighbors. Now, that is not so. People have become more distant and put up personal walls. So it surprised me how many doors opened wide and the number of people who showed their great concern and gave well wishes. The common denominator for the opportunity to have these conversations was the care for their own dogs and fear they could lose them too. Some had their own stories they wanted to tell.

I see it as a blessing for the opportunities I had to speak and be heard by people. It gave me a new hope in people and in humanity.
Love holds no bounds.

I am thankful for the Fresno SPCA. Their door was always open during the time frames they are set up to work for such a great cause. I regularly stopped there weekly for 3 months after my dogs were gone. I wish I had a better ending to my experience. MY dogs were never found.

I am also thankful for the compassionate woman who worked there at the shelter who always listened, and when I was further into my search I told her I wasn't so sure how long to keep coming. She quietly said, "You will know."

While it has been a few years back that my dogs were taken, I still miss Elsa and Z.

I called about an injured bird in my driveway and they said they'd send someone out to help, 4 phone calls and 6 hours later I now have a dead bird in my driveway and still no one has shown up. Thanks for all of your help.

I am blessed to recieve the cat that I have, he is a great addition to my home. The process of obtaining him, however, was interesting. Staff couldn't find his paperwork, I was notified I was on a 20 minutes time limit, 8 minutes into the viewing process and they still could find the animal tag number for the cat i originally came to see. The store was closed both times I went to the facility though I was told it would be open. They tried to overcharge me for the cardboard carrier. My cat smelled really bad and after his surgery, there was no cone provided or store open near the facility to purchase one. With that being said, they're a non profit who staffs volunteers so I'll take that into account.

I honestly was not going to visit this adoption center. My actual visit was an unexpected stop, rather spontaneous and something told me to visit. When we got there, I started to tear up a bit seeing so many great beings caged. One stood out of all of them. It was Rosetta, the big dog in the pictures. The unsettling gaze she had, as if the ancient gods were sensing a message through her. The energy, positive energy, could be felt in the air, like lightning striking the ground. I have been accompany my entire life by canines, however, Rosetta felt like I had met her before. I ended adopting her and keeping her real name Rosetta . 2 years later we are still together, Steve joined us a few months later. They are family to me, one I m willing to give everything for.

The staff is helpful and can give accurate and important information. They provide a safe environment for stray or lost dogs. They are not a no kill shelter so be warned you do take a risk with the animals you bring here that they may be euthanized do to over crowding. They are however a great place for vaccines and have a spay and neuter clinic.
