ATTENTION: If you got a dog during their Super Bowl $49 Special, please take you dog the vet ASAP for Parvo.
My family and I adopted a puppy and couldn't bring him home til Tuesday and by Sunday he was really sick so we took him to the vet where he tested positive for Parvo. I couldn't return him because my kids were already attached to him so we decided to pay 120 for his medicines in which we were told that if we gave him the medication and kept him hydrated he would be ok within a week, Our puppy passed away yesterday afternoon.
We were first time dog owners and were not informed to avoid taking outside and we were not informed that he could still get Parvo. The dr at the animal hospital stated that there was a good possibility that he came into contact w/ the virus prior to his adoption.
PLEASE GET YOUR DOG TESTED.
We adopted a puppy here. Staff is helpful and very nice.
We adopted our first dog from here in May 2018, she is the BEST dog! The kids that work there do their very best, but the facility is filthy and disease ridden, we got lucky with her. We adopted our second dog, a 2 yr male husky mix, the day after christmas 2018, he was sick the night we brought him home, thought simply reaction to being neutered; within 24 hrs we were at the vet, $3300 later he was so sick, it wasn't fair to keep him suffering without an end in sight. We made the decision to let him rest in peace over the rainbow. We never even heard him bark, but we loved him hard for that short time he was with us. we will never use this facility again...EVER!!! They know what happened and here we are two days later and no one will call me back.
I think the employees or volunteers need a break or something to lift morale. The woman who helped me in the pet shop wasn't very nice.
These people are angels. Caring for abandoned, lost/found, voluntarily surrendered, abused, neglected, stray animals (all kinds). They do their best to comfort & nurture all animals who come through their doors. Try desperately to get their voice & ads out to save the pets. People, Please, Protect future generations from being euthanized by spaying & neutering your animals young. Adopt a pet. It'll turn out to be your best friend. And PLEASE, please, DONATE anything you can....if 100 people all donated One dollar, it could feed a bunch of hungry animals. But food isnt all they need. They need vaccines, exercise, housing, attention and they need love. Nothing makes us feel better than a warm tender hug. All these beautiful babies, even the ugly 'looking' ones; (beauty is in the heart & soul, not your looks) just want love. Freedom from a cage would be nice too-of course to be in a cage at the shelter is more for their safety and so you can find your next best friend. So donate, whatever you can. Get to the nearest (or make a roadtrip out of it & go to farthest) shelter. But donate/adopt. Its the right thing to do. Check out ccspca website for more information & valuable knowledge.
I'm having the hardest time getting ahold of a live person! I rescued my dog here in July, he had a missing eye and was still stitched when I brought him home. Was told everything would be quite alright and not to worry. Well last month his stitches still hadn't been dissolved, and his eye started leaking. I was able to get ahold of someone, and brought him in. Was told that it was just the stitch and that he will be fine. They took the stitch out. For 2 weeks now I've tried calling at different times. His eye is even worse now! How do I get in touch with someone? Should I just walk in? I was told he would be fine! I love this dog, I want him better. He is an indoor dog, wears a cone because of the eye being the way it is, there are no other pets in the home to have caused the problem. Please help.
They never answer the phones and I tried most of the extensions.
got shots for my dog at a reasonable price. Everybody was quite Pleasant.
The staff here is really enthusiastic and passionate about their animals. This seems like the largest in the Fresno area and in being so, I think they are overwhelmed. The kennels are full and it's difficult to keep clean. We got there a few minutes early on a Saturday morning and saw at least 5 new dogs coming in before they opened. We adopted that day. I hope that they can receive more support because they definitely deserve it for all the great work.
I hate to have to take animals here cuz I know that they do euthanize, but I had no choice every other organization I called wouldn't take the cat that kept coming back to our backyard and we couldn't take him because he was hurt and needed to go to the doctor and we couldn't afford an animal doctor you know they're freaking Crooks and they take advantage of animal lovers you pay more to go to an animal doctor then you do to your own doctor sometimes it seems. So honestly SPCA is not so bad they were sweet they vaccinated the cat and they took it to the doctor hopefully they were able to adopt it to someone else it was a good cat.
I do not like the spca for the reason that we brought bottle fed kittens that we could not take care of and all they do is euthanize them for a place that is to SAVE animals in need. They also said that they have to euthanize them because there is not enough room for them and not enough workers to take care of them even though me and my mom saw that there were like 7 people at the front desk doing nothing at ALL and I have seen people across the street from the SPCA protesting about 24 million animals that they have killed and not help. Their commercials Say we save animals in need and care and help them, well it doesn t seem that way they killed 4 innocent Kittens that could not live on there own and I hope people will see this to know what monsters they are we will never go there again!!!
I found out by accident, that they euthanize twice to three times a week. The CCSPCA is just a place for animals to die. Not to be adopted, they dont get the correct medical care, and Parvo is very rampant in CCSPCA. The people who run CCSPCA do NOT care about the animals, they just wnat their paychecks....even their volunteers dont stay around very long...shouldnt that tell you something's not right there?? I speak as someone who fell in love with a puppy, bought the puppy, they spayed the puppy, the puppy was diagnosed with Parvo 2 days later, and the puppy died 3 days later. Trust me, CCSPCA doesnt give a damn about the animals....just the money they get from the Renderers (they sell the bodies) and the monies they get from 'adopting' out pets...who die.
This shelter euthanized a mama dog the day that another rescue AGREED to take her and her 4 pups in. The pups are 4-6 weeks old and no longer have their mom in these crucial next few weeks because the SPCA told the rescue picking them up that they were late. Reading their reviews on Facebook it appears that this is not the first time something like this has happened. Euthanizing a dog that is being rescued by another organization for absolutely no reason at all is DISGUSTING. Do not donate here, but do adopt so that those dogs can get out of that hell.
Friendly staff made my family feel so comfortable and made the adoption so easy
Great place. You do wait a while but it is a great friendly staff! Small in the waiting area but it's a great place
Dropped off dog because they said they had a no kill policy in my research. Come to found they changed that and they love to put down dogs.
Great place to visit if you lost your pet or if you want to adopt one.
Great low cost vaccine clinic. And they did a wonderful job with my dog's spay.
They have a great assortment of animals to chose from. I'm in love with puppies so I've become a Foster Mom for young pups that aren't old enough to adopt yet, 4-6 wks is adoption age. I love it!!!
The service is good and employees are very helpful in the adoption process.
There's a great deal going on for the month of December 2016 where you can adopt a dog or cat for just $49! So I went there today to do just that. Everyone that was part of their staff was pretty friendly. All except the two people working the from desk. There was a man and a woman, probably mid 20's working the desk and just seemed very over it. They appeared to not give two bones about anyone and treated us as if we didn't matter and like they were on autopilot. I'm sure they've probably done this hundreds of times but this was an exciting day for us. It felt like they were raining on our parade and that the dog's lives didn't matter. I'm glad I did find the perfect pup. Even if I had to "jump through hoops" with the guy and girl at front desk. -_-
Cheap immunizations for cats and dogs. Cheapest in town so every dog and cat can be healthy
I picked up a mom and babies to foster for a rescue today. These people have a rough job. People drop off unwanted animals and these people have to take care of them. It's so sad. I'm glad I'm on the positive end of things.
Called to see if our dog was there and they said he was, but when we got there the chick in the first said they put him down yesterday because he was sick!! Whose dog did the think was ours then?? We were deviated!!
Not clean.....my basset hound went to the aspca over night and when i picked him up the night that day $1000. Went to Vet visitations and Xrays and meds. My dog caught a kennel cough which turned out to be very deadly. These kennels need to be disinfected. And cleaned daily !
I moved here 2 years ago and have adopted 3 animals from them. It is so clean compared to other shelters I ve been to before in the past. And I have not brought home a animal that is sick. Which I have had problems with before in the past with a different shelter.
I love that they offer dog training classes on Wednesday, & their low cost shot fees.
I just want to say Central CA SPCA is the best part of living here. Central California y all really have the cutest animals! I brag to my friends back in TX about it.
absolutely inhumane. people here are horrible. we passed fresno by chance on a road trip, and found a dog walking by one of the main freeways just 5 minutes from this shelter. he had no tag and was shaking. this was the closest place we could find and they REFUSED to take him in or even help us since we weren't even from around here. the lady we spoke to, veronica, is one of the cruelest human beings we have ever encountered. she threatened to take down our license and accused us of abandoning the dog. absolutely disgusting.
1 star is WAY too generous! Make sure if u go there and try to find lost pet- check the QUARANTINe room!!!! Spca didn't say a thing- humane society did!!! Big deal SPCA staff!! She was hurt by staff, starved, denied medical treatment, possible trach issue, broken bones, torn tissue or joints, couldn't walk . she was so cold and fleas all over, inhumane business, in it for $$$$ ,,,and lazy front staff ,u will get your news media spotlight , I promise!!
Absolutely Horrifying. I woke up Sunday morning to find one of our dogs had passed away in her sleep and the lady on the phone literally said just to leave it there until Tuesday! There's young children and other dogs living here too. I'm still shocked by the lady's response on the phone. This place is cruel and inhumane. I'm considering posting a picture of the deceased dog to remind these people why they're here in the first place. I guess if it's dead they don't care.
Only problem with this place is the hospital is currently closed. They are referring people to another animal clinic.
Went there today and Took a cat Was a stray, And they were awesome.
The volunteers are very nice and there staff is awesome very wonderful every time I come in it's a great experience... Thanks to you guys....
Sad to see how many dogs get surrendered by there owners, but happy that they have trained people to care for them, well some fi really care for then and gives then love
If they had correct information on the website or the answering machine it would save a lot of time and heartache.
Extremely disappointed and sadden by the 2 women that run this place and pretend to be helpful at the front desk/guest reception. Have had been an active supporter of the Humane Society for many years now and had no doubts that this people were somewhat caring and compassionate, but far from that they seem distant, absolutely careless, rude and angry to say the least, they make you feel so uncomfortable, especially the older one who would be better off cleaning kennels and picking up poop, it sure is better fit for her.
While providing a necessary service the office was crowded and I'm not convinced that adequate attention was being given to locating a found pets owner. Perhaps a handout addressing what's done to locate owners of found pets would give me more confidence in their services. The owners of the pet we found were located by using an online lost pet website.
This place needs extra love...if I had the funds ..this is one place I would drop funds...they are selfless workers...and I appreciate what these people for the ones who have no voice...love this place.
I had a great exsperience comepare to my home town the ppl here were helpfull and nice. They care for there pets we been looking for a new member and we finally found one here he was a straight dog so he didn't have everything or fixs we couldn't take him home yet can't Waite to bring him home he so cute. I would defenetly recommend this shelter to anybody. I will come back and adopt another one here.
The staff here are so nice and really seem to care for all the animals.
I can't even get a hold of these people. No matter what day and time I call I get a recording or answering service. The hours listed on their website and on their voice mail doesn't even have the correct hours and times. The answering service was no help either!!
The spca is a great place if you are looking for a loving animal who needs a home. The organization is very welcoming for the animals and for the people in the community who come in to find themselves a future pet. They also have a great group of volunteer staff to walk the dogs and play with them. Make sure to come by here if you are Looking for a good experience!
Sad they treat you great coming in the door but are more like a used car salesman when you have adopted they sold me a sick dog with kennel cough would not in any way shape or form guide me with after care i asked about surrender and again that used car sales person came out I WILL NEVER ADOPT FROM THIS AGENCY AGAIN for the simple reason their attitude is you buy as is and once you bought your on your own funny they act like you want your money back the money is no issue i do not mind that they keep it for food for the dogs or needs but DAM dont be so heartless
I had a great experience here and came out with the sweetest, smartest little girl. I live 2 hours away and saw Remi on the website. She just had that high drive, playful look in her eyes. So I sent an email to make sure she was still available before I made the drive. Elena kept in touch with up until the day I went to meet her. It was crazy busy but we got a lot of help from all the staff especially because I could not find her. She was in the back! Erika did my adoption and we had a lot of fun chatting and she answered all my questions and went over everything I needed to know. Remi needed to be spayed so she had to stay. I had a question about grooming and Cathy responded to me same day and between Cathy and the vet tech they helped me best coordinate my pickup time with my schedule and my long drive. We picked her up, no hiccups, no health issues and she is a happy girl and we love having her as a new addition to the family!
Management is horrible and harasses people, including me. I ve been hung up on many times, while just asking simple questions. PLEASE, do not surrender your animals here! Reach out to rescues first! Always look for non profit rescues on Facebook. This shelter is very high kill and your animal will not make it out alive.
Thank you to Supervisor/Manager Anthony for correcting a mistake and returning my beautiful furbaby to me!! She is so happy, already learning new things in training, made friends with my friend's dogs who accepted her easily, and you have made us both sooo happy.
I ve talk to this officer 2 times & the 2 times she s been very rude ( officer perry)
You tell her how unprofessional she sounds & she stays quiet
Does anybody know the # of the supervisor cause I try calling Aspca to ask for it but they never answer the phone
Nice employees. Even when I was boo hooing in public about a cat that wasn't legally mine. Alley Cat was found. Thank you!
Luv em @ SPCA CUZ they love your critter like you do! The best customer service people there is! Thank you gang as does my Tuff does too!!! God Bless you all! Jeff n Tuff 2 !! S
they dont care about animals i call today July 4th 2017 and the lady that answer the phone said that they are not picking up stray animals today because there going to be lot that get out and are scared form the fire works i thought the SPCA care for the animals i guess not so sad now i now way the close there veterinarian hospital because they dont care
We always take our dogs for their shots here. You have to wait a bit if you get there late but their prices are worth the wait
What's the point of having your dog micro chipped if they don't call you till a week from when they found it. This place sucks. We need a better shelter out here that's organized and not trying to raise money by storing your pets for weeks....smdh
Very nice &caring staff. They answered all my questions. Adoption process was super easy!!
The CCSPCA is a wonderful place with a great mission. They truly care for their animals and do their best to educate the public on pet care. Please consider adopting from them!
I m very thank full for the services but the place could be a little cleaner kept on stray side many times I would see up to 6 people just gathering around front desk acting like what you would think of a community service working of hours but to find out they were payed employees but that was just a few there were that really seems to work hard
Overall Love the spca, got 2 of my dog babies from there. The prices have gone up over time and that did shock me with my most recent adoption but they do fluctuate prices per animal. Generally speaking the staff has been nice enough, not superb but it can't be an easy place to work so I am not about to complain. The only big problem I had with the last adoption was an health issue that arose from my dogs spay that ended up costing me alot. I didn't bring it up to them but the paperwork pretty much explained what they could offer so I wasn't about to bring her back, already loved her. Happy they exist, wish there was a way for it to be better somehow but I don't have the solutions
Found a kitty in the parking lot and they took it off my hands. They were very thorough
Worst experience ever. Inquired about a Boston terrier via email. Received a call a few days later that a Boston was available for adoption, I asked a couple of questions about the dog and lady on the phone didn't seem to know left from More
Had too put my 13 year old love down, the staff was very kind and living as u fell apart. As I'm doing now!! The way above their job too comfort me
My wife and I went here a few times over the course of a couple of weeks looking to adopt a dog. We expected to see all the same dogs, but we were happy to see lots of new ones each time as well. It seems like some dogs here get adopted right away, and other stay for a while. One dog we saw had been there for almost two months. We quickly fell in love with her, but couldn't adopt her because our dog was scared of her.
On our third visit we saw an adorable little dog being walked from the stray hold area to her kennel and we snatched her up (yes, that's how fast some dogs get adopted here).
We went to multiple adoption agencies in Fresno and this was the only one we came back to. We just liked it a lot better. We liked being able to walk around on our own and look at dogs as we pleased, and whenever we had questions the staff were very helpful. They also had a lot of great dogs to choose from.
I called to have a stray cat picked up and apparently they are unable to pick it up because I have to contain the cat ir bring the cat to the shelter.
Love the fact that I got to play with mu puppy for 2 hours before we got to bring her home.
Amazing service!! They take such pride in the animals aswell!!!
So sad peoples ignorance on SPCA being no kill. They take all animals as a no kill shelters pick and choose only certain animals that is why they can be no kill and SPCA can not. It is sad but your ignorance on then is even sadder. Example a 8 year old golden lab may or may not be pick by the no kill shelter SPCA will NOT turn it away.
They lied and said the kittens I took in were sick, and they killed them
C.C.A.S.P.C.A is clean & friendly but, I wish all those dogs/cats would be adopted out faster.
