I dislike this place. The staff is rude as can be in the drop off area.. They're short with customers and kinda effin jerks. Maybe hire ppl that understand what ppl are feeling and going through when they have to get rid of the animals that they Love- So they show some empathy or damn decency. Take your pets to the Humane society where they actually care.

I have taken my dog to two of the low-cost vaccine clinics. Although you have to wait as long as an hour to eventually get the shots and/or microchip it is certainly worth it! The prices are literally a fraction of what they are at the vets. If your dog is aggressive or not well socialized just leave it in the car until it s your turn. There are literally 2 to 4 dozen dogs in the area waiting their turn and I have never seen any aggressive behavior. Once you have your number call and go into the clinic itself it is a very quick process. They also have a table set up for licensing.

Terrible. I've been here 2 consecutive Saturdays for shots for my dog and they're closed. They shouldn't advertise "open 9am-12pm" if they're not going to be open at 10:30am. This place is awful do not come here.

Adopted a puppy that seemed to be fine, after being neutered we got to take our pup home, soon to realize that he had kennel cough and worms. Which was to be expected for a shelter. Now my puppy is in the Emergency Pet Hospital on Blackstone with pneumonia, after going to a recommended vet, from the ccspca list they provided, for our first exam! Not only am I now frantically trying to pay for these medical bills, since it's now 8 days after my adoption, I can't get any help. I will never be adopting an animal from ANY shelter again. I will be sure to tell everyone I come into contact with NEVER to go here for a pet adoption. Simply ridiculous that you guys have a vet in site and this puppy, and most likely most puppies there are coming down with life threatening diseases. Before adopting we were comforted with the fact by so many promises listed on their website and at the shelter, but now, I am heart broken, the only thing I can do is hope for my puppy to make it home.

The girl at the counter, should have gotten her name, (Asian) rolled her eyes and acted like I was inconveniencing HER. Other girl was nice and helpful. Adopted a puppy that my son fell in love with, but it had kennel cough. I am new to animal ownership, except when I was a child so I had no idea what it was. Did some googling and called they NEXT day after I picked him up and they told me I d have to take him to the vet even though he had it on their watch. It really feels like they don t have compassion for animals. I would think it would come natural because of where they work, but it felt like it made some jaded. I won t be going back, but I love this puppy soooo I guess thanks.

They kill about 82% of the animals that come in here. 96% of the cats and 70% of the dogs. Fresno ranks #1 in California for the animal shelter kill rate out of all 58 counties. The CCSPCA does nothing to educate the community about spay-neuter, nor do they spend a penny on raising awareness. As a non-profit they are eligible for free public service announcements on tv and radio, but they're too lazy to do it. They refuse to look into new methods to keep animals alive, such as the NO KILL Equation that has already reduced the animals shelter kill rate in Los Angeles by 20% in it's first year. The knowledge is there to stop the killing but the CCSPCA refuse to even hear it. My cousin lives in Hawaii, the SPCA where she lives offers the spaying and neuter of feral cats for only $5. In Hawaii they use the trap neuter return model to reduce the number of shelter cats and lower the kill rate. They let residents check out human traps for free. They are in full support of trap neuter return to save the cats. Here, the CCSPCA keeps everyone ignorant of trap neuter return and prefers to keep the 96% kill rate it's cats. Instead they just blame everyone else. They'd rather just keep killing. They don't even have a single volunteer pass out flyers about spay-neuter to raise public awareness. Truth be known they want the animals to die. They're livelihood depends on it. Because once Fresno has enough homes for all the animals that's the day the CCSPCA goes out of business and the Brechmann's relatives have to find a real job that require education and training. The CCSPCA brings Fresno down even further, We're the poorest county in all of California (check the Census stats if you don't believe me), and now the CCSPCA makes sure we're #1 in animal murder too. The CCSPCA spends 2/3 of it's budget on salaries, leaving only a small portion for the animals. The CCSPCA doesn't even have pet retention services, where a volunteer can can counsel you about possible alternatives other than surrendering your pet. Sometimes people panic and just can't think. I pet retention volunteer could help. There are so many free and low cost things the CCSPCA could do to save animals, but they refuse to even attempt to even try. Fresno would do far better if the whole CCSPCA went to hell and left us to build from the ground up.

Here are pictures of our cat Taz that was attacked by two loose dogs in the neighborhood near the corner of Cornell and Effie. The cat was injured and went under the house next to our house located at. We looked for him the last few days and we can't find him. I called the shelter but no answer and the emails on the website are being sent back. So this is a desperate attempt to try to contact anyone who can help help us.

Found homes for 2 kittens that were gonna be euthanized the day I picked them up. Just note that when you go there to drop off an animal, they have a 50% chance (at LEAST) of euthanizing the animal you leave with them. Almost everyone I ve talked to doesn t realize that they are NOT a no-kill shelter.

That being said, PLEASE adopt! Find out what animals are going to be euthanized and take them, even if you are fostering them!

Clean, neat, orderly, and efficient. We have been here before for adoptions and other reasonsm. This visit was to drop off a wild tomcat that was beating up the other cats in the neighborhood. Checked our ID and address, got ol' Denthead a vaccine, returned our cat carrier and off we went. Easy to get in and out and easy parking.

It's one of the highest kill shelters in California run by a bunch of "Good Ol Boys" whose only concern is money. Just be responsible and get your pet spayed or neutered and chipped, that way it won't end up there. Also, don't think about dropping your pet off in the country either, most of them get hit and die within the first 30 minutes. If you can't keep your pet, make a major effort and re-home them; don't be a lazy ass. Better yet, don't get a pet unless you can be responsible for it for life. They're not a doll to be thrown aside when you get tired of it. Here's a known fact, the more uneducated the people of a town are, the bigger the pet problem... Figure it out...

Lots of beautiful dogs to adopt. They're not the most organized. I was given mine with serious flu symptoms, ended up passing it on to the left three. Hundreds of dollars in antibiotics. But they did refund after complaining. Please adopt, you wouldn't believe the amount of abuse animals receive before they agree brought to the SPCA by neglectful, irresponsible owners. These animals need help.

Sorry to say but this place is a death camp for stray animals. Odds are very high that if you take a stray here that they will put them to sleep, understandably so (to a degree) as the area has such a high stray pet population and they need to try and control it. If you have an ounce of compassion try going another avenue to get the animal into a good home, whether a no-kill shelter, adopt yourself, or even take it in to get "fixed" and re-release it, anything is better than eminent death if they find their way here. We found a pregnant cat and took her in hoping she could have the babies and we had a person in mind who would adopt the adult cat, that friend called after the initial holding period (3 days) to make sure the cat wasn't someone's to find out they just put her to sleep as she had a supposed lung infection. What if we were willing to pay for the treatment? No call to try and remedy the situation, no compassion, what ever happened to "Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals?" That's exactly what they do there, cruelty to animals.

Please explain to me what our registration funds are being used for; while when trying to call in to get any assistance to report stray dogs or even ask questions about paying for our registration it is impossible to talk to a representative.
The customer service is terrible; while they mean well as an organization I think they should take more into consideration with the community that is being forced to put money in their pockets.

This non-profit organization is very beneficial and takes care of the rescue animals amazingly. Linda does a great job of keeping the organization actively engaged in the community through providing Fresno State students the opportunity to volunteer.

When our dog was picked up because she got out of the yard we went to get her from the SPCA and she got sick in there care. When we asked what they are going to do for her. They said that they won't do anything to help her and that it was up to us. What kind of place takes your dog, keeps her, makes her sick, and then won't help. Wow.

When are people going to realize that the SPCA is ...

When are people going to realize that the SPCA is not a No Kill shelter because they take every animal that comes through their doors. No Kill shelters simply say "We are full" and turn people away. A lot of them also charge high fees to take an animal. SPCA does not like putting animals down but what are they suppose to do when ignorant people keep bringing in litters of puppies just because they will not get they dog or cat fixed or their dog has become a burden because he barks or digs. SPCA offer low cost spay & neuter programs. Maybe if more people helped the SPCA like I did when I physically could (and became volunteer of the year) they would see that they are not the bad guys in the pet over population problem. We have adopted wonderful dogs & cats from the SPCA. I wish more people would. Maybe less animals would die every year.
