Castle Hill Inn - Relais & Chateaux Review

Such amazing service! We had Rachel as our server and she was the sweetest. We even had the pleasure of meeting one of the bus boys Mitch. The food is amazing and the views are breath taking .. this place is a must if your in Newport.

Looking to get out of town and enjoy one of the best sunsets in the area? This is the place to go. Lawn chars spread out overlooking the bay enjoying a cocktail and the ocean breeze. Great food but make a reservation well in advance if you want dinner.

This was.my first time at Castle Hill. It's so breathtaking and the food was delicious! I look forward to going back!

Wonderful spot for drinks by the water and the perfect wedding venue

2019: we've been here many times with various sized groups of friends. The food has been very good every time. This year the service has been nice as well. I liked potato and leek soup and lamb Wellington. Desert was the weakest dish in the three course prix fixe. I had the chocolate tort.
2018:Food is nice but several employees had a snotty attitude.

The Inn is outstanding! The staff is extremely well trained and offers exceptional service. You can't ask for a better location, the views will take your breathe away. I never drive past Castle Hill Inn when I'm in the area.

Looks very nice there so just to New York and then to Fahrhamton

Had the most fascinating Thanksgiving dinner buffet...

Arrived at the lawn for a drink before dinner. Service was so slow that we left after almost an hour without being served. View was beautiful though.

We had the scallops and a lamb gyro. Both we excellent. The service and the view were outstanding. 5/7 would recommend.

Great sunset, lost our reservation and waited over an hour and a half before having to return downtown to get dinner.

Reviewing dining at the Lawn. Wanted it to be perfect, but it was not. It was tasty, but there was a ball of flour in my chowder, and two pieces of shell in my lobster roll. This is unacceptable at this price point.

You can't beat drinks on the lawn followed by dinner on the patio!

Absolute worst catering and service of a wedding I have ever seen. Leaking tent. 3 inches of water on the tent floor during a storm. Bathrooms flooded. Ceremony space was below an exit sign with no flowers or arch. Ceremony musician on a cheap keyboard was awful. Reception: Chicken entree was cold. Staff was cross, snooty and rude. A $50K colossal waste of money. Bridal buyers beware! This place is all posh show, no substance. The view is the only thing going for it.

This spot is a dream. Sit outside and have lunch or snacks and a cocktail over looking the boats go by. The service is 5 star and the food is killer. It's pricey but justified by the professionalism and quality. And that lawn view!!

If you re thinking about getting married at Castle Hill Inn, just say yes! This luxurious wedding venue makes for the most incredible photos, so if you're looking for somewhere with ocean views, beach access, cliffs, 5 star service, and an incredible coordinator, look no further. The getting ready suite has lots of natural light and makes for fabulous photos. You can do your first look down at Grace Kelly Beach, up by the ceremony, in there back garden, at the lighthouse - so many choices. Even if it rains, they set up the ceremony indoors and it s still gorgeous. It was a little chilly and misty one wedding there, and the staff brought out blankets and umbrellas for the guests. They really go above and beyond for you there! Cocktail hour is outside under a tent overlooking the ocean, and the reception is inside the other tent - speaking of which, it s not just your typical tent, it s semi-permanent, so it looks super high end, decorated to the nines, incredible. The coordinator Samantha Marold is absolutely incredible - she is absolutely top notch at hearing any concerns and melting your worries away, leaving room for an absolutely perfect wedding day.

It was a fantastic experience. Parking lot is a valet so have cash for tip. Beautiful setting for pictures. Food was superb.

10/24/2019 4 of us walked in, no reservation. Receptionist was incredibly nice and directed us to the hostess. We asked for a table by the window for the view in the dinning room. We were clearly not appropriately dressed, but she accomadted us. We were then greeted by the MOST wonderful waitress "Kerri". This was lunch so 2 of us shared a bowl of chowder and a lobster roll. The other two shared the chowder and a gruyere cheese grill. Food was spectacular. Are vis was above and beyond expectations. Thank you. Drinks were a very generous pour too.

Had an inspired stay in November as we needed to get away. Loved it so much we booked a trip for Labor Day

Our favorite place to stay in Newport for years. The beach cottages are well worth the expense. And you can't beat the beautiful drive to and from town.

Beautiful tent enclose by Sperry Fabric Architecture that really makes the yard a usable special spot. The view is great. Very windy.

Jackie was amazing to work with for our wedding at CHI. She kept us on track and gave us amazing ideas to run with when thinking about small details for our day. She was always available and knowledgeable, and I never felt stressed. Getting married at Castle Hill Inn was a dream. They all have it down to a science, and you never have to worry about a thing. The food was incredible, as well as the flow and set up. Many of my guests said it was the best wedding they had ever been to and I attribute most of that to Jackie and the folks at CHI. THANK YOU!!

Amazing sunset view, wonderful atmosphere, but unfortunately a somewhat disappointing dining experience. Our entrees took forever to come out (over an hour) and when they finally did the lobster was undercooked and the steak was overcooked. The wait staff quickly made it right, but it was disappointing that the meal wasn't just right after such a long wait. The deserts were just okay. Maybe they were having an off night. I had a much better meal at Scarpetta, the restaurant at Gurney's hotel.

It was beautiful. The food was very good. I was there for a wedding and the facilities we're amazing.

We went to Castle Hill to celebrate my Dad's 90th Birthday. We had a long standing reservation for 11 people that had been made more than a month in advance and confirmed. Upon arrival for our 6 PM dinner reservation, we were told that we were not expected until 7 PM but that it would not be a problem. Our waiter was very polite and knowledgeable however he spent the vast majority or his time out of our private room which seemed strange.

Our three course meal took over 3 1/2 hours which was ridiculous. The food ranged from good to outstanding. When we placed our dessert order one of my brothers asked for a drink - it never came. After our desserts were ordered, our waiter told us someone would come in to take our coffee orders. That never happened. After we were finished with dessert our waiter came back into the room and when informed that no one came in for our coffee requests, he apologized and offered to get us some but by that time it was too late; the meal was over and we were ready to get out of there. Our waiter did not offer to do anything to try and make up for that slip-up, nor did he offer my Father so much as an after dinner drink to celebrate his birthday.

The setting is lovely and the building is gracious but last night that is where the outstanding aspects ended.

A place to chill with so much nature and beauty around. My favourite place in New Port.

What is not to like. Valet Parking, Adirondack Chairs on a low hill overlooking the beautiful Newport waters with sailboats racing by. Grea cocktails and lobster sandwiches with chunk lobster. A very relaxing, fun afternoon and I left with my wallet intact.

Delicious choices, great views. Pricey, but worth a visit.

For $477.36 for the eight of us.

1. The majority of the entrees were very good but the $28 lobster roll was substandard.
2. Had to remind the waitperson that one of the soups was missing.
3. Had to ask the waitperson to remove the dishes.
4. The water glasses were never refilled.
5. The service level never rose to the level of the prices.
6. Great location and great valet service.

As always we have enjoyed our stay here. The room was awesome and the gourmet breakfast well just incredible. A favorite New England spot for us...Looking forward to our return in May.

Limited menu during the time of the virus, but delicious nonetheless. We decided for our first dining night out in several months to celebrate our anniversary at Castle Hill again. We were a little disappointed to find that the usual dining room fix prix offering was not available. In fact, the menu looked like a pub menu. But we chose wisely, and had an excellent meal, with focaccia, oysters, shrimp, lobster, and steak; all prepared perfectly. We ate in the small dining room that used to be the bar, in front of our favorite window where we used to go for drinks to watch the sunset. A very nice evening.

Worse experience ever, came for dinner with a reservation, showed up for dinner. There was no available tables when we showed up told us it would be about an hour so we waited no one got us. Told multiple times oh just 10 or 15 more mintutes 3 plus times. After 2 and a half hours of sitting around waiting we decided to leave without dinner, of course told us one more time as leaving they would have a table ready in an HOUR, what a joke. During our wait we waited inside had a couple drinks from the bar when the bartender started getting annoyed and mad because it was a little busy in there and eventually actually throwing ice at someone, possibly another worker from across the bar. They only respect you in there if you LOOK like you have money.

Good service at the bar..you Must make a reservation for brunch!

Also take a drive down Ocean Drive after to see the beach bad gorgeous homes.

My favorite spot in Newport. Drinks on Adirondack chairs on the ocean.. It can't get better than that.

The food and service here was phenomenal. We went to Newport for the cliff walk and to explore and we discovered Castle Hill and will be back for sure!

Hate to share this place as it is one of my favorites in the whole world. There are fun trails to explore on the hillsides leading from the terraced garden overlooking the stream of sailing vessels. Cocktails are the best when experiencing these unequaled views.

For just about 30 years we ve been vacationing in Newport, but we ve never stayed at Castle Hill Inn. Even if you re just stopping by for lunch, you can t pass-by Castle Hill Inn. Make a reservation. Just about the perfect wedding location with sweeping panoramic views.

I love this place, a great place to go with the family or friends in the evenings. The place is really beautiful with great ocean side view. You will be ae to see boats ships and so on. There are lot of birds around. ParKing is free and the food is not that expensive for this kind of cosy place ... Great hangout place for couples

Stayed in the beach cottages for a week - walk right out your front door onto a beautiful secluded beach. Great place to stay during covid since excellent food is served directly to you on your front porch at every meal. The staff are lovely and very kind - any request done quickly and without issue. Sunsets are gorgeous, perfect weather in August for biking, walking, sitting around. Not cheap overall but worth it as it is drivable from DC.
