The military really does pick the lowest bidder. Cartwright Is complete trash. I've dealt with them on more then one occasion and have had a problem everytime. Not only will your goods be weeks late but you will also wait 2 hours minimum to talk to someone about your move. I'm sure if they didn't have the militarymilitarys moving contract they would not exist. So please heed my warning and take your move else where any positive review is an anomaly trust me.

I had a move with this company and the deadline delivery date for them was two weeks after pickup. They did not even ship the items from the warehouse until 3 weeks after pickup. When I was trying to get more information on what the hold up was and when I would be receiving my stuff, the customer service reps were very evasive and refused to return my calls. This company is awful and I definitely do not recommend working with them.
"What did I like about it?" ..... absolutely nothing!
We recently moved. My husband is a 100% disabled vet. We have moved MANY times, 2 of the 6 moves being overseas. I have never experienced anything like this before.
My couch was broken in the move (wood on chase portion snapped), torn leather, dirty cushions on the fabric portions bc it was thrown in a crate not wraped or anything and lost legs. We were offered a crap dollar amount ($990) and told to buy a replacement sectional couch from Amazon. Our couch, same color, material and size, is from Ashleys and costs $1399 BEFORE taxes and delivery.
A brand new entertanment center was scratched up and a fireplace insert had the cord ripped from the back (we were denied any compensation bc they said they couldnt prove it happened durning the move). Which is funny bc on the inventory sheet, it does not mention a thing about it being broken or a ripped cord.
My granite dinning room table was gouged and my table leg some how was crack straight through (from Oak Express) its a very heavy table. The table could collapse bc of the leg being damaged. Theres NOTHING on the inventory sheet about this damage, the movers caused when putting the table togethet and placing it on its side while flipping it over. They offered $125 for the damage. YOU CANT REPLACE THE LEG AND FIX GOUGES FOR THAT PRICE!
The list is long in damages. Bent pots. Broken dishes. Broken grandfather clock. Its pretty pathetic how our shipment was treated if you can bend a STEAL COOKING POT into an oval.
The kicker. After we got our first offer for the damage. In the email, it stated FINAL offer.... after first and only offer??? We emailed the their claims adjuster (J. Leathers) who works for Cartwright, we denied the offer and we were told to get estimates for the things that we felt weren't fair prices. So we went to ashleys, got the printed out quote with taxes and delivery, Oak Expression for our diningroom table. Best buy for our tv (the screen was sliced with a box cutter when unpacked). An hour after faxing all these things to them. We were denied (through email) and told, Offer stands were is. Needless to say, to hurry up the process we accepted the very low offer.... 2 weeks after finalizing, NO CHECK from the company.
I give one star bc we did get full value for our distroyed grandfather clock and for the crew that delievered/unpacked our shipment (other than that, I'd give zero stars). They were very nice and pointed out damages as they unpacked, even called their boss to tell them how poorly everything was packed and on our broken couch.
AVOID CARTWRIGHT!! Or at least take pictures of everything of value or thats large. Make sure they write down its in working condition on inventory sheet, if electronical. Dont get screwed like we did.
**UPDATE** It has be 10 weeks since our claim started. We have yet to receive our settled upon monetary agreement for reimbursement, We settled and accepted their offer OCT. 19th 2015. I have the voice mail from Don (one of the managers?) telling us last week (6 Nov.) that our check was "scheduled" to be cut Monday (9 Nov). It obviously wasn't.. We called Cartwright in Grandview, Missouri, where our claim was handled, first person told us there was no check to be cut for us. When we told the lady on the phone that there was one and that there was clearly an error, we were placed on hold for 10 min. She came back on the phone after the 10 min wait and said there was an error in the system. We were told we would receive our check next week (16 Nov.-20 Nov.) ....... What's up with ya'll, Cartwright?????? Why are checks scheduled to be cut weeks after settling on an offer? Is it not bad enough that a family's belongings were ruined, that you go and add salt to a wound by pretty much holding us over the barrel to close out our claim and accept a low offer but THEN make us wait a ridiculous amount of time for a reimbursement check. This company has no care for its customers.
Worst company ever. The movers they contracted showed up and started packing 2 days early. We asked them to stop amd come back when our belongings were ready for packing. We were told they don't speak English, and they continued on. Our HHG was sent to Orlando, instead of Oregon causing a 6 week delay. They shorted us on our inconvenience claim, because we didn't spend money on more stuff. Upon arrival we found over $10,000 worth of missing and damaged. They took roughly 150 days to make an offer, contract says they have 60. They fought and only paid out $3300. Sadly, we cannot sue due to my husband's active duty status. They should be ashamed of themselves for screwing with people, knowingly contracting with inept companies, and for wasting tax payer dollars.
I never write reviews. But, some members of this company are horrible. I did not choose this company... the Army told me this lowest bidder would move my household goods and eventually destroy pretty much everything of value. If, you are military request another company or move yourself. They destroyed my entire master bedroom set, 55" TV, solid oak kitchen table, two bookcases, two lamps, and a brand new sectional, etc. I had to throw away many items due to mildew and mold. Going through the military claims process I was eventually transferred to Don Carroll of Cartwright. I talked to him for a few minutes before he accused me of breaking my own belonging, and that I was at fault. I asked to speak to his supervisor and was told that he does not have a supervisor. So, i guess Don Carroll is the CEO of Cartwright. I have never felt so disrespected and talked down by someone that is making money off of me.I have already wasted over 14 hours going through the military claims process and so far nothing.... Looks like Cartwright can destroy over $12,000 of my belongings and still get paid by the government. If anyone gets bored, please join me in writing the Better Business Bureau, your Congressmen and women, Senators, military transportation, etc about this company and/or why the military gets serviced by a company with 2.3 stars. As I look through the reviews a Donald Carroll have Cartwright a 5 star review??????
This is the worst moving company I've worked with in my 9 years of military service. They continually miscommunicated our desired move in date with the base. They assigned a moving coordinator to us who admitted it was a second part time job and so this person was frequently unavailable. On the origin side, they picked an agent who failed to pick up our items in the allotted time.
The worst moving company I've ever dealt with, trust me if you have the option, go elsewhere. By the time my stuff gets to me it will be 3 weeks late, past the required delivery date!
This company has no regard for their clients. We received their services through Tyndall AFB and were guaranteed that our shipment would be here no later than 3 days ago. Well, 3 days ago, they had no record of our 8 crates of household goods and they said that they would contact the movers and today would be the day. The time slot came and went. Now they said they need 2 more hours to get here. Meanwhile, I have a husband who works in a high risk environment with no bed or couch to sleep on. And now, for the second day, I am to keep a 3 year old inside all day waiting movers. They ignore agreements and offer crappy claims as retribution.
Unfortunately, this last military move has been the worst. Between this moving company and A-1 Horton out of Atlanta, I've come to the conclusion that I won't receive compensation for the damages one of these companies made to my couch and dining room table. Someone was either smoking near my couch or got it caught on something to where it ripped holes in the sides and bottoms. The edges of my table from Japan were all scraped up and I know they were not stored like that. Both denied culpability when I submitted my claim. Both pointed the fingers at the other, advising me to file with the other company. Pitiful. I hope I won't be forced to use either one of these companies again.
Absolutely awful service and this company should be dropped from military contract. Not only is our shipment 3 weeks past the due date, it took them a week to figure out the majority of my shipment had actually arrived, but one crate was left at port and another was just found to be back at the original shipping state where we moved! You'd think that since they found out the bulk of the shipment is here they'd deliver it, but NO! They apparently were going to wait for the other crates they left behind to trickle in before delivering my HHG and we still don't have a date for when they'll be delivering what they actually have. We're 3 weeks past our original delivery date people!!! Make it happen!! I'm going to work with TMO, my congressman, anyone I can to get this contract dropped! We do not need this level of stress when moving and I'm sure there are other companies out there who would love to have this govt contract and they'd actually do their job.
A pathetic company that has ZERO customer service skills. My household goods have been delayed for 6 months and they will not respond to any emails or return my calls.
Great Company to work for. They really care about their people and the people we move. We had a donation drive for the troops and shipped 68 boxes to service members all deployed all over the world.
The packer were unprepared, sloppy and had little regard for what they were packing. After they said they were finished, I had to walk around and collect random items that they just decided not to pack (i.e. a boot, kids toys, DVDs, etc.) and specifically ask them to pack them. They also did not bring a large enough truck for all our stuff, so they had to sit around and wait for another truck to show up. If that wasn't bad enough, I called the company the day before our estimated delivery date (10 days after pickup date) to see what time we should expect them only to find out that our stuff hadn't even left the origination state yet and that we wouldn't get our stuff for over a week past our estimated delivery date! After our stuff finally showed up and we started unpacking we found many broken/crushed items that we must now file claims for. If I had to do it over again I would have packed my house myself and driven it myself. I have used moving companies before and absolutely loved them, but this has been the worst experience I have ever had with any company I have had to work with. Do yourself a favor and use someone else.
Gov sponsored move and assigned to Cartwright for a relocation from VA to TX. Worst move in 14+ years of gov't service. Have already completed a complaint to BBB and finalizing formal complaint with gov't. Urge all of you with similar experiences to do the same. Let's get them off the approved movers list and end the poor customer service!
First, move was scheduled well in advance for a door to door delivery; this was not a last minute arrangement. Carthwright was supposed to handle the entire process from packing, loading, shipping interstate, to unloading and unpacking. Local packers were subcontracted and were underprepared, undermanned, and underequipped. Cartwright was impossible to reach when these folks were no shows on one day, short shows (meaning they showed up late and only worked 3 hrs before leaving), etc. But the runaround with customer service has been a teeth grinding frustrating process where we used an entire month's worth of cell time (900 minutes) chasing down personnel and essentially doing their job coordinating between the local companies and Cartwright trying to find out where our stuff was. I was told that the scale was broken to weigh the truck, or that they were waiting on transportation to come pick it up. (this is the exact story they have apparently told other people too). They cannot keep track of inventory and where the semi's are located or if they are in transit. The amount of excuses is unacceptable; it was always someone else's fault. The missed the RDD (the date when it is supposed to be delivered). Customer service is rude, argumentative and refuses to accept any sort of responsibility for what has easily turned into the worst move of our career. The TSP coordinator stopped responding to emails, texts, calls etc. Goods when they were unloaded had water damage and damage that occurred while in transit. Now we get to start the claims process which, from other reviews, will be an uphill battle.
If you are assigned this company, call up your local govt transportation office and request a different one. Or see if you can choose a reliable transporter and moving company and get reimbursed. Do not use CARTWRIGHT. And if in the Northern VA area, do not use APPLE MOVING or EXECUTIVE MOVING SYSTEMS.
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE DO NOT LET THIS COMPANY MOVE YOU STUFF. WE ARE MILITARY AND WERE PROMISED A DELIVERY DATE, THESE PEOPLE DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR STUFF
It took forever for me to get ahold of someone on the phone. Over two weeks! No bed for me to sleep on due to them not returning my calls or delivery coordinator responding to messages. Smh!!
I think they still use covered wagons and oxen instead of trucks. It took 20 days for them to drive my stuff 1,600 miles when we moved. This was just for the driving portion (not packing or unpacking)! They couldn't tell me where my stuff was while it was "in transit." They refused to schedule a delivery date until my stuff arrived in the local area. I called them to find out where my stuff was (after two weeks) and the representative started shouting at me for "cutting him off." I explained to him that there seemed to be a lag in the phone line. He just kept repeating himself while I waited for my turn to speak. He scolded me every time I tried to get a word in edge-wise. Every time I did, he scolded me. It seems to me I was the customer though he made me feel like I was an unruly student. He eventually hung up on me for cutting him off (asking questions). He may not have understood delays in a phone line... On the other hand they might be using soup cans and string to compliment the covered wagons. This company sucks. Miserable experience. DO NOT USE THEM unless you want your stuff to get lost and you appreciate horrible customer service.
My wife is in the military and our move was awarded to this company to handle moving our belonging to our new home where we would be stationed. Upon arrival my motorcycle was delivered later down inside the wooden crate completely destroyed, along with our television destroyed, tv stand destroyed and our roof cargo box key smashed into the key hole that I left for them to be able to check inside the box. The guys bringing our belongings to us felt very bad that they had to deliver everything destroyed especially my Harley Davidson motorcycle. It s been 3 months now and I ve had to pay out of pocket for the tow to the Harley Davidson shop and pay for the estimate to see how much damage was done and the cost. Still haven t received any money from the company to correct what they did wrong! All they tell me is to be patient. We only have a car and motorcycle to get around so I haven t been able to get around unless my wife is home with the car. I ve had to resort to Uber rides and the bus for now. I urge all of you before moving to get your expensive belongings appraised and maybe do your research before selecting a moving company. Maybe even go as far as not having them move expensive things so you don t have to go through what we are going through. Maybe just move those things yourself so it s done correctly.Good luck!
Company was contracted by the military to move our stuff from southern California to Bothell Washington. Was promised it would be here in a week, that's now turned into a month. A MONTH! This company is poorly managed and illequipd to provide their services in a timely manner. You'd be better off renting a u haul and moving on your own. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
ABSOLUTELY AWFUL, COMPANY STAFFED BY THIEVES!!! My UAB, NEVER MADE IT TO CALIFORNIA, IT LEFT GERMANY AND ENTERED THE U.S. BUT SINCE FOREMOST FORWARDERS HANDLED IT....IT WAS A TOTAL MESS...WE STARTED OUR NIGHTMARE ON MARCH 25TH...6 WEEKS AFTER THE PICK UP " IT IS MISPLACED, FILE A CLAIM,"THEY DESPERATELY ASKED DIABLO VAN SYSTEMS IN VALLEJO, CA IF THEY HAD IT AND THEY DIDNT....TO ME ALL SOUNDS LIKE A TOTAL BS....THEY TRY TO FOOL ME BY SAYING THEY MISPLACED IT BUT I BELIEVE IT WAS STOLEN. ALL MY KITCHEN STUFF, EUROPEAN FOOD SPECIFICALLY BOUGHT FOR THIS MOVE,MEDICAL STUFF,PERSONAL EFFECTS " MISPLACED" BY THESE USELESS IDIOTS. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THE MILITARY STILL DEALS WITH THESE CLOWNS!!! AS OF TODAY, 50 DAYS SINCE MY STUFF HAS BEEN PICKED UP, THIS IDIOTS " CAN NOT FIND MY CRATE". THIS UGLY JOKE PERFORMED BY THESE CRIMINALS, RESULTED IN ME ENDING UP WITH SERIOUS HEALTH CONDITIONS BUT I DEFINITELY WILL NOT STOP RIGHT THERE AT THE " FILE THE CLAIM" BS.
They have lied to us numerous times about our delivery date. We sit here 3 weeks past the date it was to be delivered, and part of our stuff has not even left yet. So we are probably looking at another 3 weeks minimum to wait. The person handling our stuff has not called us back once to let us know what is going on, we have to rely on second hand information. If you are in the military, just move your stuff on your own. This company does not care about their customers AT ALL.!
Can I give this company negative stars! The military sent this company out to move my items overseas. Some of my items were stolen, damaged irreplaceable things and broke my kitchenware! NEVER USE THIS COMPANY TRUST ME!
SEND ME MY ITEMS NOW!!!! It s been 4 months since I ve been living without my things. I have personal valuables that can never be replaced in those boxes and very expensive photography equipment that I don t have money to replace. There s no excuse as to why my things aren t here yet. Also, what moving company doesn t provide tracking information??? I need more information other than the same sorry, it seems like your items are delayed BS. I m so disappointed in the military for even using you guys. The military and you will not be handling my items ever again!
Worst moving company in all my years in the military! They act as though they did nothing wrong and it's simply "not their fault" even though they are the supposed to be in charge of the move. Customer service is absolutely horrific.
Three weeks past the no later than date for delivery... And yet, they still keep getting military contracts.
Thank you very much. I have to say Cartwright Relocation Services made this move a great experience. I have moved before with the Military and this experience was 10x better than what I experienced before without a doubt! I appreciate your hard work and thank you again for your help with all aspects of the move.
Worst experience in a moving company I have ever had. Not only did they coordinate with one of the few companies who actually has a worse rating by customers (Rockeys Moving and Storage). Then they misplaced our things and missed the promised delivery date by 14 days, and at no point even attempted to contact us to let us know they will miss the day, or anything by that means... They then did not validate the authorized item recipients for the rescheduled delivery, when i spoke with them the day before to confirm there would be an actual delivery, due to their track record. I told them by name who would be present (Spouse), and when the delivery company called to confirm the drop off, they made me aware my spouse was not on the authorized recipients list. All in all, a horrible experience and the military transportation system should remove them as an available provider.
They're lucky I gave even 1 star. If I had the option to put none I would! We are military and our last base gave us this company and NOW We have been fighting to get our stuff for 2 weeks and when it was suppose to get delivered NO ONE told us it got delayed! Our moving coordinator (no name will be mentioned) sucked and never returned our calls! Today was our new set up date for delivery and we ran into problems with our movers..one of the guys isn't a u.s citizen AND the other cant drive the truck. No one cared to tell the movers they were coming on to a military base. So now we either hope they find someone to deliver today or we wait AGAIN..... NEVER would I recommend this company to anyone!
WORST MOVING COMPANY EVER. They somehow "misplaced" OVER $7,000 worth of our belongings. Stuff that had been collected for years, and irreplaceable things. Not only that, but the paper work was all messed up, none of the numbers matched our boxes and our things had been repacked into different boxes than we packed them in!!!!! Someone went through our stuff it was obvious. How would you feel if some stranger just sorted through the items you packed yourself and just invaded your privacy? And then STOLE IT? I 1000% believe that is what happened. How do you misplace boxes that were nailed shut in a crate and supposedly stay in there until delivery?! Not only that, the movers dropped my boyfriends tool box and chipped and put a dent in it, neither of us were happy about that of course. This whole experience just pissed us off! We will NEVER be able to replace all of our things. I HIGHLY SUGGEST NEVER USING THIS COMPANY.
Thank you Steve R. and Fatimah M. for your 5 star review!
Thank you for your professional and comprehensive service over the past six months. You guided us in, made the necessary connections on both sides of the Atlantic, and let us collect all our things so we could reestablish ourselves back home in America! Steve R. & Fatimah M.
I wanted to take a minute and drop you a note telling you how professional, helpful, and responsive our Relocation Specialist Lindsey was in overseeing our move. We ve moved a numerous times in the last few years and Lyndsey was truly exceptional, making the process as painless as possible.
They keep moving our shipment date later and later. It has been three weeks since our stuff has been with them and we have not received our items. My family has been sleeping on the couch for all this time. Our stuff was in Philadelphia for days for no reason. I wish I would have asked for a different company to move my items. Everyday is a different date. This is the worst move I ve ever had.
there is absolutely no communication whatsoever. like at all. it s been a month since they took our things and when we are finally supposed to receive it the truck that has our shipment on it broke down ? and the only reason i got that information is because i called the company who is supposed to be receiving the shipment from THEM. i would not recommend this company, at least if you don t mind sleeping and eating on the floor for a month and having a company that literally has no communication with you on where your entire belongings are. just save yourself the time and stress and go somewhere else.
(We are currently still waiting for our stuff to be delivered. We got their services from Fort Campbell, KY) They have terrible communication with their customers. Their movers can not follow simple requests, they packed away so much of our stuff we NEEDED, and asked them not to pack. We gave them SIMPLE, simple requests. This company is infuriating, if you can- stay away.
