3.90 for a scone???? And the scone was not gourmet or next to near it.

Not a usual hotel, very high level service and nice environment.

Rustic and modern. Friendly , helpful and efficient. Food good.

Hotel rooms have all been refurbished, the golf club house restaurant was excellent, we are there twice, the show is next to get a facelift but everything was working fine there, great Jacuzzi!

The drive up alone is worth the visit. Rooms let down compared to the grand building but new management are doing a whole new fit out and hope they do it in keeping with the building. The rooms look like a Premier Inn at the minute. But all in all a gorgeous venue.

The hotel itself if fine but comes with a very disappointing service. Not enough staff... poorly trained... generally disinterested in clientele. Also, an overwhelming vibe of disorganisation at every point of interaction. Screams bad management.

Festive afternoon tea, disappointing service from '5 star' hotel, no spoon for mini trifle, no jam or cream provided for scones... Had to be requested.... Expected better

This visit was excellent. All staff were welcoming and friendly. The Food and Accommodation was top notch.

Had a fabulous few hours in the spa. Alla was a fantastic therapist.

Big hotel. Attended for a wedding and many business ocassions. Yet to play the golf courses but I hear they are very good. Great food, friendly staff, comfortable rooms.

Check in at 3 turned out to be 5.
A superior King room turned out to be a twin. No hot water

Just home from fantastic overnight stay in this hotel. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, great food, but best of all brilliant staff who can't do enough for you.

The food in the restaurant is too expensive for the quantity and selection of the day menu

The building , grounds and facilities are amazing .. however service everywhere especially the restaurant is very poor ... hire a Maitre D ...

Back passing through Maynooth we decided to drop into Carton Hotel after staying there on a weekend special last Autumn.

There is a big refurbishment project taking place and you can already see the impact.

While previously we had absolutely no reasons to complain and it was very enjoyable, they didn't stand out from others leaving me with no need to sign on here and sing their praises.

While we can only judge it on the restaurant/ lobby this time, there was just that extra sprinkle of quality. The menu was overhauled from our last visit offering much better variety and value. We got the salmon and beef, both prepared exquisitely and you could see the extra care with flavors of the marinades and dressings.

Service was notably more efficient, and staff just seemed much more pleasant and happier to serve you, making sure all was to a good standard.

Really good experience, as it's such a nice hotel steeped in history, with fantastic grounds for walks. It's the perfect 'country' spot away from the city while being so close. Definitely, recommend for going for a day visit even if not staying as a guest.

Great food in all eateries on site, perfect for all occasions or as a treat!

Attended a gathering here in the area outside in the courtyard. Gorgeous area for a BBQ. Heaters and blankets provided. Waiter service for drinks. DJ setup facilitated. Excellent staff, very friendly. Lovely location for any celebration.

Had a conference hosted at this venue, the food was great, the staff were friendly and last of all the grounds were stunning!

Expected much more, ran out of lots of things you would expect a hotel to have. Would have thought there would have been a much more spectacular entrance and reception area. Food only average.

I visited for the first time today and I dealt with a member of staff named Dalton - the chap couldn't have been more helpful, friendly or professional.

Five star hotel with service you would get in a bad cafe. The restaurant staff are clearly untrained and don t reflect the perceived esteem of this place. The concierge booked us a table in the carriage house, got to the carriage house and the greeter said there was no booking. We were given the wrong menu 3 times after our orders were taken! We ordered dessert and 45 mins later they came and were wrong. And to top it all off the bill was wrong. No manager could be seen to talk to. No responsibility on their part. Please hire capable staff and train them. It s not like you aren t charging enough!

Wow factor 10 out of 10. Played the O Meara course and it was in excellent condition. The green keepers have done a marvelous job. Dinner was fantastic and the staff where very nice. Highly recommended. I will be back!

Our second visit to Carton House was even better than our first one just a year ago. We enjoyed the "Joys of Spring" deal. Our evening meal was delicious and the staff restaurant staff were very welcoming and attentive. Breakfast was really good too. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The grounds at Carton House are fantastic for walks and we had a lovely walk from the hotel into Maynooth. We had the advantage of good weather too.

Service was very disappointing in the club house and the pasta dish I ordered for my toddler was so hard to eat he could have choked. The staff that were in got our orders wrong three times.

My husband left his passport in the room at checkout. The staff had a terrible lack of urgency in finding it and ultimately claimed it wasn t there when he knows it was. Because of this he missed his flight home and our son s baby naming ceremony back home. Family had flown in from all over to attend. The manager who assisted us was unmoved by the tragedy, just claimed ignorantly the staff doesn t steal. Don t stay at this hotel.

My wife and I love this place. This time friends of ours came with us. We arrived early and used the leisure facilities before we sat down to a lovely meal. The portions were a little small for my liking, but I think that with a few more veggies it would be a substantial meal. The waitress that was serving us was lovely and witty. We will be returning for another romantic night away, that's for sure!!

Beautiful lawns all around. The rooms are very well kept and clean.

Beautiful location with wonderful grounds. However the food and quality of service was incredibly disappointing. My family and I had a celebration, the fish wasn't cooked well, the quality of the steak everyone got was terrible, we sent back meals and got a bowl of veggies in return. The meal itself took 3.5hrs to be served, they also served tea before desert, all really strange and pretty subpar. My advice would be to eat elsewhere.

My dog loved it there. Technically you need to put your dog on the lead so be alert if the golfers give you any look. Otherwise it s ok at least i didn t run into any issue. Not bin friendly, there is only one bin i saw and not for dog litters!

Perfect slice if heaven just 25 minutes from city center . 2 stunning golf course's, one a links course and one a parkland.
I like the parkland better, more protected from the elememts. Beautiful clubhouse and great bar to catch up after the round.

Carton House Hotel, Awful experience. My wife and I visited on Sunday for a walk and a tea. The rain started so there was no walk but we did try the coffee and deserts.

My wife, who is coeliac, found nothing gluten free in the deserts and even the biscuit available with her coffee was not available gluten free.

I had the steak foccacia sandwich... sounds lovely, 6oz. steak, mushroms, onions, Swiss cheese and some chips. It wasn't. The meat was presented as one lump on the bread, it should have been thinly sliced to make it easier to handle. The onions and mushrooms were partially glued to the meat with, what can only be described as a wodge, of some non-descript cheesy substance and the bread was so completely soaked through that it was soggy and not capable of supporting a 'sandwich'. The chips were very nice and nicely presented.

The house and grounds are lovely and I will visit them again, though the entrance to the hotel is through the 'back door' into a very 'Premier Innesque' foyer that is very underwhelming. For such wonderful starting material, a great house and excellent Irish foods, it is not apparent that any care or attention has gone into the hotel or the food.

Good food and athmosphere in the kitchen bar but service was a little slow and had to ask a few times about where the drinks orders was. Not the staff's fault mind as Im sure they were under some pressure to get the orders out.

A top class place. Good service, beautiful surroundings, great food, lovely rooms. Would highly recommend it. Can't wait to go back.

Reception somehow managed to lose our booking didn't get into our till 5 o clock for a five star hotel very disappointing wouldn't recommend it to anyone

Lovely surroundings. Good meeting facilities. Food for lunch was average at best. Had brisket and it was stringy and gelatinous

Fabulous location, even the drive up through the golf course is spectacular.

Great customer service also, from booking something right through to having to reschedule a booking at a half hours notice due to a sick daughter! They were more than happy to help!

Spa facilities fantastic also and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her treatment.

Room was very basic and in need of updating decor wise and tv so old see pic remote didn't work.
We had to wait an extra 45 minutes before we got to check in so rather disappointing.
The good points were staff were friendly & helpful the food and resturant was excellent.
