Came to ER with breathing levels of low 70's. Had been virtually diagnosed by general doctor with bronchitis a few days prior. ER was slammed all night with constant ambulances arriving. Oxygen level was checked and I was put on oxygen but left in waiting room due to lack of rooms or halls for me. A nurse came every hour or two to check on me and my vitals/breathing. They did their best to make me as comfortable as possible. The next morning, I was taken to a room, kept on the oxygen machine, a bunch of blood tests, ekg, lung x-ray and Covid tests were done. They came in every hour or two and checked my levels. The Covid test came back positive although we are basically homebound with only necessary trips to drug/grocery store. Based on my frail/failing condition, they said my symptoms indicated I had the virus at least 10 days. I was immediately put in Acute Care. The doctors, nurses and personnel were absolutely kind, helpful, friendly and amazing. Because they needed all the beds they could get for those in worse condition and my oxygen level was climbing slowly but at a regular pace, they sent me home but still in acute care with an oxygen machine, daily visits from paramedics and multiple face to face virtual doctor appointments. Eventually, I was moved from Acute Care to the "Observation Floor". I lost 20+ pounds, most all muscle tone and took well over a month to be about to walk around the house without falling. It has been several months and the weakness persists but we know I will eventually regain all my strength. My GP, when he found out what had happened said had I not come to you when I did, I would be dead. We are in forever appreciation and genuine thanks to all of you for saving my life. We realize how difficult this year has been for the facilities and medical personnel and how much you have all sacrificed for us. We realize that regardless how bad I felt, we all knew you were doing all you could do and we could do our part and wait patiently in the ER waiting room. Please know that you are all such a blessing to everyone!!! With this horrible virus, being overworked, overwhelmed and exhausted, please know you will always be in our hearts and prayers.
