This place was a mixed bag. I was there for some heart related irregularities after I was transferred from main's ED. I was on the 4th floor. The techs who took vitals were good and I had no complaints. The nurses were a mixed bag, ranging from good to near negligent. (Jane, dressed in all black like a nursing ninja is standout exceptional nurse. She took excellent care of me on her shift and I could hear her most of the night giving everyone else the same level of excellent care. 1 of these stars in my review is hers and hers alone!) The regular Dr. for me was just ok, not great. Dr. Falawee the cardiologist was a really good doctor. I liked his bedside manner and felt he cared. Foodservice was ok but did have some slip ups that are not worth mentioning. The room does "feel" dirty but I would imagine the age of the rooms giving that impression. But it was a little dirty. All the specialist from nuclear medicine, ultrasound and the like were excellent and professional. I would not be scared to stay here again but I do hope the other nurses on the 4th floor take a lesson from Jane.

Had Cysto testing done at Mercy Hospital and it was a wonderful experiance with the complete staff. They were helpful from the front door when I entered until I left. Can't say enough about the staff and how polite they were and helpful. My wife waited while I was haveing the test performed and they kept her informed and offered her coffee and drinks making sure she didn't need anything during her wait. I have never been to Mercy before but will ask my doctors to use this hospital any time I need one in the future,
Thanks Mercy Staff you were wonderful and everyone smiles

Sister probably had a Miscariage from their lack of empathy.
Sister (pregnant) goes in with cramping & bleeding from down there does not get seen for atleast 3 hours. Lost so much blood, that she needs a blood transfusion now.
Not trying to pull the race card, but sometimes you just have to wonder these days.
Happening as we speak.

I was in the hospital for surgery on 11/3-4. I had the best of care from nurses Doris, Mamye, Jen, Kate, Caroline during that time. Was very impressed with the service and facility.

I would give no stars if I could. The ER in this hospital is the worst I ve ever been too. My husband arrived there by ambulance for chest pains and the entire stay lasted more than 8 hours. Five of them were in the waiting room. The nurse had a smart attitude when I asked what s taking so long. Her response was this is Charlotte a big city and we only have one doctor on call Very unprofessional. Not my problem nor my business just do your job! It wasn t til I asked for the results of the chest exam so I could take them to another er that they took him back! To make it worse we showed his insurance card more than 3 times and he still is receiving bills in the mail without insurance being added. Just incompetent and careless all the way around!!

Perfect

Have been in the room for 5 hours after getting admitted for a blood transfusion. They just came to draw blood for a type and screen. At this rate, I'll have to spend the night now. Thank you for the lack of service.

Very rude nurse that told me to get a real job. It was hard to get a straight answer out of the Dr and she acted like it was a chore to examine me. Only reason I came is because its quick to be seen. Had to go to another Er to get treated for dehydration.

Was taken by EMS to CMC-Main for shortness of breath/bad headache, and while in the ED, suffered a heart attack. Was stabilized and sent to CMC-Mercy, as there were no beds available at CMC-Main.
While at CMC-Mercy, had a heart cath done to examine and see where the blockages were. The staff that took care of me before, during, and after the heart cath are to be commended. Kind, caring, and kept me informed as to what was currently being done, and what I could expect next. Maybe some folk have had bad experiences here, but considering that I was in a hospital for Heaven's sake, I couldn't have asked for better treatment from everyone I came in contact with at CMC-Mercy.

I know the ED, and the floors that patients are taken to are very nice. ED is very good in treating people with different problems, or sickness. STAFF WAS PROFESSIONAL AND VERY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY.

Staff was absolutely wonderful! Sitting in recovery for over 8 hrs because there were Non Bariatric patients taking up Scheduled Bariatric Rooms - unacceptable. Worst actual hospital experience ever! We have been spoiled by Atrium Pineville!

Had surgery and was well taken care of by the staff and surgeon. I did have bite marks all over my legs upon release from the 5th floor of the hospital. I believe it to be best bugs as I had no issues from my home to the hospital. I mean flaming red marks on the bottom of my legs where the sheets were the entire over. Night stay, very concerning. I did alert them so that they can look into the issues. Other than that I received top notch care from the staff

Nursing staff was kind, the very young female Doctor I saw was unethical, unprofessional, and patronizing to someone who has a lifelong chronic illness. Same doctor put false information on my chart, and discharged me while I was so sick I almost didn't make it to cmc-main across the street (where I was immediately treated for what was an obvious condition). I would never feel safe in this building after what I went through here.

I wasn't going to write a review until I received paperwork from a collections agency yesterday stating I owe them $512 now $593 because someone added an extra $81 that they will NEVER get. Long story short, I went to the ER some years back because my throat was sore to the point that I could not swallow. I had strep throat before, so I figured it might be the same thing going on. So, I tell the RN that I think I have strep-throat and she gives me a shot of Penicillin. No tests were done, no swab used or anything. A few weeks later, here comes a bill that's $512. I basically told these people what I thought was wrong with me and they took my word and charged me that much money. Now they don't want to remove this from my credit. For that purpose, I will never ever go to Mercy ever again and I will make sure I contact the right people to get their mess off my credit report. They are a joke and I don't take them serious. Be careful if you choose to go here for anything.

I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this place. Was treated like a junkie. The Dr makes you take a drug you can get addicted to and took me off meds that I have needed for 10 years from ptsd. Worst experience of my life. I would give it zero stars. It's a shady place. Don't send a love one there.

Excellent doctors from Orthocarolina for my 5th knee replacement and my 4th on my right knee. I had a knee replacement go bad in Cali WLA, staph infection, Cedars Sinai fixed it in 2006 now CMC Mercy fixed it better with a fine new knee. I hurt but that is expected. So far so good. I'm sick to my stomach from the general, but needed it. In the hospital 4 days, and I'm 70 years old. Thank you nurses, Dr. F and business workers at the hospital.

Words cannot express how grateful I'am of the medical care, and the team of professionals I encountered recently at Mercy. IMPECCABLE, CARING, PATIENT, CAPABLE AND GOOD ENERGY in the midst of my illness I will NEVER forget! Not one unpleasant encounter from the teams working! I must sincerely say I was treated like the former First Lady, Mrs. Michelle Obama! I was nervous of where to go because sadly many medical facilities have negative reviews and this was my first medical emergency that required an admission. I want to give a heartfelt thank you to my emergency room nurses, on call doctor, ambulance transport team, admissions clerk, team of nurses that cared for me, technicians (X-ray, Stress tests team etc), cleaning staff to dietary workers!!! I BELIEVE when you have a excellent TEAM working together as I experienced, it assisted my road to quick recovery the spark I needed due to the ENERGY set around me! Forever GRATEFUL! KUDOS and please keep that above and beyond medical care, it speaks volumes in ways you'll never understand . God bless

I have had nothing but good experiences with this hospital. I've been brought in multiple times by ambulance with hip dislocations and other issues and I've also come in by personal vehicle. I've always been treated well by the staff. The doctors are very thorough and the nurses are attentive and kind. My nurse technicians have been great. I've only been in the ER, 3rd floor, OR, and 7th floor but all I can say is that they have been the awesome to me .

My son and I been here since 9 this morning here it is going on 2 o'clock and we have yet to see a doctor. I'm noticing that they are getting everyone in and out that came in after us. I'm starting the wonder if they lost our information. THEY SHOULD DO LESS TALKING MORE WORKING.

Unprofessional! She's rubbing her face and eating in the triage with a nasty attitude to top it off. After we leave I will recommend that nobody I know come here. These so called "nurses" won't even get out of their chairs to speak to a woman in a wheelchair. They have asked her to be wheeled up to the counter three separate times.

This is the worst place ever the police took him there he called and ambulance because of his heart. He is taken his brothers death really hard what does these lousy jerks do they put him in a mental ward instead of helping him. Now they want let his family know where they are taken him too. what a government program . Makes me ashamed of the US and how doctors can get away with what ever they want . if I could give them less than a one I would.

It was my first time in one of Charlotte emergency rooms and to be honest; the RNs and the PA there was very nice and very very professional. I would go back there when myself if my child become ill. It wasn t a very long wait time i was in and out in about a hour. Love the staff there!!! Thanks everyone!!!

They cared less in this place front desk worker telling me a hour wait at 10 pm 12 a.m hit still a hour wait 2 ,3 o' clock hit still haven't been seen 4' o clock they still didn't have any rooms so basically I could've died and they wouldn't cared so I just called my husband to come pick me up and yes I'm still in pain all the others were the same....HOW IS THAT U HAVE THESE HUGE HOSPITAL WITH NOT ENOUGH ROOMS LIKE THATS RIDICULOUS YALL WAITING FOR A "ACCIDENT" TO HAPPEN

We visited the ER late on a Monday night/Tuesday morning. Our nurse was very sweet and quick to relieve my girlfriend's pain. Dr. John Burger was the most compassionate, patient, informative physician I have ever met. I would definitely recommend CMC Mercy!

My mother was admitted and needed to stay for a week. I was really impressed the compassion of the nursing staff, physical therapy, the doctors ... even all the support staff like nutrition. Like everything in life, there are probably other hospitals with staff who are a little more or less knowledgeable medically. But in my Mom's case, it was the encouragement, patience, support, and understanding that made the difference. And not just one or two people but a team of them.

SERVICE SUCKS FROM JANICE AND ANNICA WHO BOTH HAVE THEIR NAME TAGS COVERED UP BECAUSE THEY MUST KNOW THEIR SERVICE SUCKS. NOT INVITING AT ALL. NO SMILES. NO PERSONALITY.. JUST DRY AF!! THIS PLACE DOES NOT MAKE U FEEL WELCOME. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING. ANNICA WAS MORE CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT I WAS DOING ON MY CELL PHONE THEN BEING CONCERNED BOUT WHAT BRINGS ME IN TODAY. JANICE WAS MAKING LIGHT OF MY PERSONAL INFORMATION WHEN ASKING ME MY NAME. SHE ASKED ME TO COME TO THREE DIFFERENT WINDOWS AND STILL DIS NOT REGISTER MY DAUGHTER. THERE ARE TWO MACHINES INFRONT OF THE WINDOW SHE IS AT AND MUST EXPECT U TO CLIMB OVER THESE TWO LARGE ITEMS TO GET TO HER. IF IT WERE NOT FOR MY DAUGHTER NEEDING TO BE SEEN I WOULD HAVE BEEN LEFT! AND I WOULDNT EVEN HAVE GIVEN THIS PLACE ONE STAR BUT NO CHOICE IN ORDER TO LEAVE REVIEW!! WE AS BLACKS HAVE TO DO BETTER!! ITS INEVITABLE !!!!

Lazy uncaring staff. Information is not passed on between shifts. Be prepared to go 20+ hours without food because everyone seems to "forget" to take food orders. Only came here as an emergency.

I've been in this hospital 3 times since January 12th 2015 and it seems that the night shift could use some restructuring. The staff seems a bit lazy and noticeably less professional than the day shift.

my adult son was admitted into mercy hosp for severe stomach pain with nausea. my son does have a drinking problem. He knows that. But the nurse and doctors on the 5th floor treated him like he was some worthless piece of garbage. And just as a side note, my son owns his own business and has insurance. It was horrible. People are people and deserve to be treated with Respect. In spite of their personal opinion. It was the 5th floor, it was last may and the Dr/resident is Wilson.
He should be ashamed.

Over 2 1/2 hr wait && still wasn't seen. Went in at 2:30 am 4:40am I left pissed off and unseen. Not even vitals were taken. Only me & 2 other people in the waiting room & they came in after me. Piss poor !! Hopefully its only the night shift thats this terrible & unprofessional. No update. When I asked about an estimated time i was told to sit down and someone will b with me. Well 1 hour later that never happened. I left unhelped with a wrist band & still n pain. Thanks A lot Mercy Emergency Room for Nothing !!

My grandfather was sent here because there were no room at CMC pineville or CMC main. We found out he had colon cancer. Surgery went well, but two days after he had a bile obstruction. They waited over 8 hours of him throwing up bile before they even thought to put a NG tube in. Well in the process of putting the tube in he aspirated and was rushed to ICU where he placed on a ventilator and was sedated for 4 days.. they removed the ventilator, and released him on the same day, now he is laying at home suffering scared to death to go back due to the way he was treated over the two weeks at mercy.. The only person we met at the hopsital that seemed to have any since was a clean up lady who told us we needed to get him out of there as soon as possible. I would NOT recommend this hopsital to ANYONE!

Really really bad to be in this place.(Emergency)

Really really bad to be in this place.(Emergency)
I had bring my Mom Thursday at 2am and till Friday at 8:20, they only show up once to check her up.
They didn t provide us room but they provide room for everyone that came late than us. Plus medic guy took my Mom ID and hasn t return to me yet. I asked all around but not a really satisfying answer.
I asked them to check her up and what took so long for nurse, they took me there s no nurse but I can clearly see that; they re laughing and talking to each rather than ask and help us.
Still at hospital.

Came to Mercy ER Sunday October 20 after falling 5 months ago. Multilevel fusions,
two rods from neck to base. No problems 30 years until I missed chair on new waterproof floor (concrete). Everyone was lovely except Rachel PA. Told me I had siatica before even looking.Showed swollen thighs. Rachel said you don't have hip fracture or infection before looking. Headed to main. Hip just broke.

Please. DO NOT GO HERE. The very first time I went was in the middle of the night because of the pain. The wait was short and anything was fine. I was brought into a room and the nurse asked me all the normal information. Later, I could hear her talking badly about all the patients to the other nurses. In clear ear shot of the patients. I couldn't believe it and was so upset. She was even talking about a homeless man with no family next door like he was a dog.

You could say it was just her, but what kind of nurses were the other if they allowed this? No one should have to play for treatment like that.

I went back a year later (I know, but I was in pain again) And there was barely anyone in there. Maybe 3 people waiting. It was a ghost town. And after my last experience I know why. Seems everyone else got the same treatment.

Novant is directly across the street. Go there. Go anywhere else but here. You shouldn't have to pay for this.

Unfortunately this system does not allow zero stars which is what the Mercy ER deserves following a recent visit. The waiting room was not busy...me and one other patient. ER did not appear busy yet wait time was excessive. My hospital ID had a Dr. Burger listed. After getting settled into a patient room I had to explain my symptoms several times. I was exhibiting strep and or flu symptoms wuth a severe sore throat, difficulty swallowing... A Nurse Practitioner named Stephanie Patterson came in to assess my symptoms. I explained I had been taking OTC meds for fever, pain and cough and was getting no relief. It was very difficult to speak because of the pain. Each question she asked she would interrupt during my answer. I was not tested for strep, flu, etc however Stephanie's brilliant diagnosis was a COLD maybe the FLU. (Yeah, I often waste my money on an ER trip for a cold...BS) When I asked why a test was not done to confirm her brilliant diagnosis her response was "we only do those tests if we admit patients. I was given a prescription for Magic Mouthwash (a compound of lidocaine, benadryl, nystatin). A pharmacist friend thought that alone was negligent. I have never encountered a "health care professional" with absolutely NO professional skills whatsoever. When I left I stopped at the reception desk and told the receptionist that I had NOT seen Dr. Burger and I would not only never return to Mercy ER but I certainly should not be billed for a DOCTOR when I did not see one. It is now 5 days since getting ill. I am much worse, fever is difficult to control, chest pain, rapid shallow breathing with wheeze. Will I return to Mercy? Not a snowballs chance in hell. Considering going to my family out of state to see a REAL doctor

Absolute worst place I've ever been. Un-knowledgable staff, rude, and downright unpleasant. Almost paid 20,000 out of pocket to sign an ama paper that would've let me check into another hospital, that's how terrible the care is. On top of the staff that I personally think shouldn't be anywhere near a medical field, this facility is somewhat missing a medical field. One of my symptoms (it was a lot of stuff, I was there for two nights) was an ear infection. It took me five hours of asking to look at it for them to listen to me, and then they needed another five hours searching the whole hospital to find an otoscope, the one they found was broken, so it took another hour on top of that to find a working one. This isn't close to the worst of the problems, but shows the lack of competence this hospital has. I wouldn't reccomended it to anyone.

My wife came in the emergency entrance with pain at 10 and vomiting. It took an hour to get into a room, which wouldn't bother me if they would care AT ALL about trying to help the pain while she waited. The threw up 3 times in the emergency waiting room with no one blinking on the staff. When we got in the room we had the WORST nurse I've ever seen. Bad bedside manner would be one thing, but straight up HORRIBLE at her job. Needs to leave medicine all together. She put multiple needles in my wife's arm and when she finally realized how much pain that was causing ng on top of the original she was dealing with her response was "oh well it's a clean draw, see there's blood in the needle". No apology, no can I get you something for the pain, no nothing. My wife was in tears the whole time she was in the room, yet not one person checked on her and when we asked for ANYTHING for the pain the response was "you just got your iv, someone will be along later". When someone finally came to take her to imaging they finally brought needles for pain. My wife couldn't move the pain was so bad, so it took time to transfer to the wheelchair. I asked if she could get the pain meds to start working and maybe make it a little easier to move to the wheelchair. Once again the response was "she was a difficult stick, and I'm waiting till she gets into the chair". WORST WORST WORST CARE I'VE EVER SEEN!!!!! TO IGNORE A PATIENT IN PAIN IS ABOMINABLE!!!!! TOTAL JACKWAGONS IN THIS PLACE!!!!!!

Buyer beware. Went for outpatient procedure. Was told I owed a certain amount for the testing. 2 months later thousands of dollars worth of medical bills and they sent my labs to somewhere out of network. Do NOT trust the financial people that talk to you about what you owe before the procedure. Advise that you call your insurance company first. Very dishonest company. Will be leaving them for independent physicals.

I was injured at Mercy Hospital due to negligence ( damaged door) while visiting my father in the hospital. I was taken into the emergency room and told that all bills would be covered by Mercy. I am now getting bills and collection letters demanding payment. I have spent hours on the phone being routed through an endless circle of voice mail messages from accounting, risk management, and customer care. Sometimes I get a human voice, but they never know anything about my account or who can help me to get to the bottom of this issue.

WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!

WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!

I called the hospital before my visit and expressed I didn t have insurance and only needed an X-ray. I then asked for pricing because if it was too much I would have waited until the closest urgent care opened the following morning. I then was told an X ray would only cost between 200-500 dollars which I was okay with. After waiting in the hospital for 6 hours and finally being released with a piece of string to hold my arm up, I was also sent a bill over 2,000. When I explained that I called and was given pricing I was rudely blown off told there was nothing they could do.

Waiting was horrible and took over 14 hours, but once admitted nothing but top notch service! I m so great full for everyone I had the opportunity to ask the smallest question!!!! Thank your for treating my mom to the best and for doing the best to figure out what was wrong! Thank you and keep up the amazing job!

I used to come here for ECT procedures. It's been one of the best hospitals I've ever been to. They genuinely care not just about helping you with the problem you came in for, but also your comfort level while you're there. They're thorough and attentive, and make sure to check in often enough to make sure things stay comfortable. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars (If i could it'd be 4 1/2) is because things do move a little slow. But with the quality of care and the kindness of the staff it's not a big issue.

Had to have blood work done in the hospital lab in preparation for surgery. Signed in. Another patient waiting stated she was there for a Covid Test. I sat outside the lab for safety. The other patient leaves and I can go into the lab. Elliot, the lab tech, tells me to sit down in the chair where blood is drawn. I asked him have you wiped down the chair? Elliott responded no. I do not wipe down the chair after every patient. I shook my head no and he said do you want me to wipe down the chair? I said YES!! That should be protocol!! His response germs are everywhere. You are having surgery? How are you going to protect yourself from Covid and other germs? You re in a hospital. You shouldn t have surgery if you are afraid of catching something. What about the nurses that come in and out of your room? What are you going to do then? To say the least I was stunned by his response. He then wiped down the chair and took my blood. I hope and pray this is not representative of the care I am going to receive beginning on December 15th. I ve received excellent care at Novant Hospital. This is the only hospital that was available for my surgery, and my surgeon only works here and at Ortho. I would hate to think that one individual can taint an entire hospital experience, but this is true. Every patient deserves excellent, compassionate, professional care, with every protocol in place for the current Covid crisis. I will be on the wing for Spinal surgery patients beginning Dec 15th, the day of my spinal surgery. I pray the entire staff 24/7 are everything a patient could hope for in these difficult times. As for the lab tech, Elliott, his rudeness, I don t care attitude was frightening considering how prevalent Covid is now. In addition, nothing is being done to wipe down door handles or waiting chairs or anything else.

I was recently a patient, Brandon P. To me this is a wonderful place that gives their absolute all for you. they are the first medical facility I have ever been in and really felt as though i really mattered. I was skeptical at first but within just a few days my demeanor was changed, all because of the nurses on 11th floor. They really helped me through a lot. They were always there for me when I had noone. They were always there to really listen to me and tried giving me the right advice... Me Personally I love those Ladies. They have amazing and wonderful loving hearts and souls..

While no one "wants" to have surgery...I must say the staff at Mercy exceeded every expectation! This was the best experience ever. Every single person I encountered made it their top priority to see that not only me, but family was comfortable and knew what was going on. My nurse, Phyliss on 7th floor was absolutely the best and truly made the whole experience a great one! Thank you!!!
