spoke with a woman who could barely speak English, Martina.... very rude. she didn't like when she was told she was un professional and had her boss harassing me with phone calls.... I ended up just ignoring their calls. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST AGENCY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. I even took time to write this in hope other people don't fall victim to them. If u want to work for free work for CareerBreakers.... I mean CareerMakers Lol!

ps... oh.... they also get people to write and give themselves 5 star reviews lol. I mean..... who gives an Agency 5stars!!???

Hello, I am a Romanian who has come to England for 6 months, I joined the Careermakers Recruitment agency where I found a lot of kindness and help in finding a job. Thank you in particular to Alexandra Musuroi.Recommend this agency to all Romanians but to anyone looking for a job.

Fair to say its a pisstake. Messed me around and havent heard anything from them since, apart from a rude phonecall offering me a job 90 mins away. They then told me the job i applied for doesnt actually exist lol

After reading some of the reviews this is a place, that I won't be rushing to for work.

And l am correct on my first impression of the company, after the email I have got today 18 \12\2019 agencies like this one don't recognise the national living wage.
As they want to hide behind the minimum wage instead.

The COVID crisis resulted in me being furloughed which impacted my income considerably at a time I needed to earn due to my first born being due
within weeks.

I registered with Career Makers and within hours received contact from Dianne to discuss temporary opportunities. I gained approval from my usual employer and took the first opportunities offered to me and started within 24 hours.

Diane is very personable and helpful and she has helped me in a time I have needed it. 7 weeks later I m still with the company Dianne placed me with who have been very open telling me that they do not want me to leave to return to my usual employer!!! Over time is available and I couldn t recommend other people following the same path as I did furloughed or not!

Career Makers and the company they placed me with has helped me financially, mentally and met some great people along the way I will be keeping in touch with...positives can come out from adverse situations with the right approach, attitude and support! Thank you

Kinda mixed feelings about this agency. They always pay on time and there's no sneaky business about that. But sometimes when they send you a text about some job opportunity, you'd call 'em 5 minutes later and they'd say "they don't know anything about that job

After speaking with a lovely agent called Sara Mikova I would highly recommend this recruitment company. she not only made it easy for me to find roles suitable but also provided relevant advice to motivate me to strive in my career path!

I received a phone call from a recruitment agent that was presumably representing career makers and I can honestly say I have never come across such poor professionalism in my life.

The guy on the phone started the conversation trying to get his words out over whatever food was rolling around in his mouth, and when he did it was to ask me if I was available to start work tomorrow morning.

The role he was trying to 'sell' to me is still unknown but I was told it was in Sale. He said that this job was temporary and that he had one lined up immediately after. When I told him I would need to give notice in my current role, he gave one final chew on his food and hung up on me.

Given the fact that recruitment is one of the most competitive industries, especially in Manchester I was extremely shocked that this was the level of professionalism I received.

I am currently in work so don't need the help of a recruitment agent, but a client or job seeker that happens to stumble across these guys, GOD HELP THEM.

I honestly do not recommend. Often, there were not a full payout and you had to solicit yours, and if you do not use their services for a week or two, if you do not remember, they will never contact you with any offer. Not a serious agency.

It's taken me over a month to recieve my pay because of their administration error and it's still not correct, I've been made to feel like it was my fault and the staff couldn't be less helpful. I wouldn't waste your time or energy on this micky mouse group of idiots.

Had good service in 2015. In 2016 on first day we needed staff and were promised an 8am start on a busy Monday, nobody turned up. Not acceptable. Next staff that they arranged, they failed to arrange her payments in time for her to be paid for the first week's work.

They lied about the hours of the job they sent me to. Don't be fooled by the nice office in the downstairs of the building or the good looking women ! Haha it's a joke of an agency avoid at all costs !

I recently worked for career makers but unfortunately I had to end my time at my job due to childcare issues.
Trying to work full time in a pandemic while no childcare is available was kinda tough but Laurie at career makers made things ten times easier for me :) helping me as much as she could, advising me in the best way she could and just generally being their for me. So thank you so much Laurie :)

She was a pleasure to work for/ and with. What a laugh that woman is, she s got a bubbly personality and she can crack a joke at any time of a morning, aswell as keeping things professional (Not something you see in other agencies)

I was paid the correct wages every week (unlike some other agencies I have worked for in the past)
Their was always someone at the end of the phone if I needed to ask questions about my holidays ect :)

I definitely will be going back to career makers once my son is back in school and I can start to work full time again

Thank you for everything

hello all

hello all

Just popped by to add my view. Well i worked for these guys for the last 7 months and can honestly say they served me very well. in those 7 months i was probably only out of work for a total of 10 days and yes there where 2 occasions where pay was delayed however it was either immediately payed later that day or the following Monday. they ain't as bad as some will have you believe. One thing is for sure they are paying some of the best rates around (Manchester) and putting in hours via text makes it hassle free.
Basically they are providing a very good service i often say agencies are only as good as their work force they have. After all us the employee are doing the real work so what we put in we get out. Goes without saying if you leave a good impression you will be remembered for the right reasons. I will be sure to use Careermakers for further work in the future should the situation arise
I'm an HGV driver and the man i dealt with mostly is Peter Kier top bloke looked out for me along the way bent over backwards to keep me going even giving me van work when quite.

Cheers D

Turned up to site today (first day working with career makers) , to get told by the company that I was not needed and career makers sent too many workers so the job. I have lost out on a days work and turned other job offers down. I will not be working with them again

We were sent to a job on Tuesday 2nd April 2014 on...

We were sent to a job on Tuesday 2nd April 2014 on behalf of Career Makers and still have not been paid!!!
The job we had been put on was terrible, there was no Health and Safety on the job and they had lads using wheelbarrows with no tyres on them (shocking). We were there to do the brickwork and a joiner started 2 days after us, after being treated like idiots we were all laid off the job for no good reason other than the fact the boss of this company was in a bad mood.

Now you would think the agency you work for would be on your side and deal with the matter responsibly in regarding payments / sourcing more work but not Career Makers we have been passed on from person to person being told numerous lies.

This is disgusting when it comes to your wages not being paid it is the lowest thing they can do to you, I even stated that I would incur late fees for direct debits that were due to come of my account and still nothing.

I have been spreading the word about this so called agency to 5 fellow bricklayers on a job in Wilmslow & will continue to do so on every job I go on until the words out there.

What makes me laugh is the manager has put building relationships as 1 of her skills!! Well I can tell you first hand this is not the case at all.

BE WARNED!!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Why oh why did I bother going in to 'register' after having read the many negative reviews left by others? The place itself is a nightmare to get to (a very long walk from the centre of town) and the 'office' is more of a 'dungeon' at the bottom of a lot of stairs.

The wait for my 'appointment' was longer than the 'appointment' itself. I say 'appointment', all it consisted of was meeting with a rather rude lady who just read my CV back to me and took my contact details. Without exaggerating It lasted all of two minutes. She didn't even seem to know a great deal, if anything at all, about the job I had applied for. So I wasted time, money and effort commuting in and out of town for...well...nothing.

Strangely enough I never heard back about the job I applied for (it was almost as if there was no job and they were just duping people into registering with them...). I do, however, receive regular texts about other jobs but most of these are totally irrelevant to me. On the rare occasion these texts match me with a job I'd like to apply for, upon ringing them they claim the person I need to speak to is 'not in today'.

Thankfully i'm now temping with another agency and never need degrade myself with 'Careermakers' (Timewasters would be a more apt name) ever again.

So In summary, 'Careermakers' are a shambles of an organisation and if you want my advice: don't make the same mistake I did by going into see them. Read the dozens of honest, negative reviews and save yourself the trouble.

Bunch of LIARS.

Living us all left overs like Communal corridors, End flats with rounded, curved walls, high amounts of corners and bits to finish as Fire stoppers!
It looks like for them people there is no difference between circle and square as the price remains the same... it must be how they teach them in Irland... SCAMERS

Assuming:

Absolute joke, my partner was offered a job with a start date for 1st July 2020 which he agreed to, but as the start date was nearing he couldn't get any information regarding the job or even get to speak to the adviser who was organising the job. Not very professional to keep someone hanging on especially in these times when jobs are scarce and money is tight for a lot of people.

After 18 months of working hard for this company I was offered more money to work for another agency. I rang them to say I'd be leaving them the following week and thank you for the continued employment. I was then told that they would match the offer is been made elsewhere, fantastic I thought, it saves me the hassle of moving agencies and sites. After this conversation I worked 2 weeks only to find my my pay rise hasn't gone in yet, I rang up but was told the only person who had access to my account was off on holiday. The same thing happened the week after and so on the third week I rang and managed to get hold of the person only to be told my rise was dependent on the company I worked for agreeing to my wage rise and that it would all be back dated....... obviously that wasn't part of the original arrangement but I played along thinking it would all be agreed and back dated. 6 weeks on I received a phone call to say I wouldn't be receiving my rise as the company didn't agree to it......... great!!!! I'm now working for the same rate as I was before and not receiving what I was promised from the start...... and also I've turned down a better played job because of what I was told.
I have repeatedly tried to resolve things by phone calls but yet keep getting passed from pillar to post. I have rang the office for some kind of clarity as one of the bosses said all calls are recorded, I gave him a date and time that the original conversation happened and the conversation has mysteriously disappeared from the logs, surprise surprise.
All in all I feel I've been duped from moving on to a better job by greedy staff and after 18 months of hard graft I feel aggrieved about it all.
To add insult to injury they emailed my boss to say I was "demanding" a pay rise or I'd be leaving which was never the case and almost lost me my employment.
I wouldn't recommend this agency to anybody as they'll tell you exactly what you want to hear before screwing you over........ not a great way to do business or treat people

It's a joke, first time I went to register they offered me a job 60 hours a week I obviously refused and then I called to have information for a job I saw on indeed and they hang up.

Worst agency with which no one can meet. Money instead of Friday morning, get on Friday night and there is a need to remind them. I Call Where My Money And Tell Me That Bzlo Call Me Back. Which he did not when I called so I had from nobody. Mainly they have their certain. They don't care about people!

The worst agency a person can ever meet. Instead of Friday morning, you get money on Friday night and you have to remind yourself about it. I called where my money was and I was told they would call me back. Which, however, did not happen when I called I was no longer in the agency. Mainly that they have their own certainty. Screw the people!

FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT wohoo!!... I have worked as an agency worker for career makers for some time and I have always found them very helpful and excellent at matching me with appropriate roles. They have always listened to my requirements and have prepared me well for each role. After working on temporary assignments for a while.. career makers have found me full time employment and I could not be happier!!!

I feel sorry for anyone who takes a job through this agency. I've hired as an employer, multiple staff on 2 different occasions. The staff they send do not have any of the skills or experience I asked for but then we have to take them on anyway as we were short staffed. The staff themselves have no idea about the role they are supposed to be doing. The Careermakers office staff who arrange thing have no conscience whatsoever and will lie through their teeth to cover up their negligence. I have also seen staff struggle for weeks to get paid by this company. Avoid.

I have question to all people who were hurt by that agency: if they have not paid you - why you have not sued them to court? That's not some communistic Russia, where is horrible corruption.
And one more thing - can anybody explain me how it is, that they are still functioning? They are constantly posting job offers on indeed.co.uk site (various).
P.s. I believe in all negative opinions posted here - I was facing many similar situations, but in different places.

Careermakers have always delivered a top quality service. They have found work which is best suited to me, taking time to listen and understand the role I see myself in. They have always provided me with sound and practical advice in preparation for interviews and writing CVs. Due to their ongoing work and effort I have been placed in a permanent position. I couldn't be more thankful, keep up the good work!

got told to report for a bricklayers job in alderly edge, i turned up on time,
only to be told " what are you doing here" they dont need bricklayers, the job was'nt local, so cost me fuel and time. the office came out with a lame excuse, blaming it on a bricklayer who works for them. not happy
