Review of CareerMakers

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Why oh why did I bother going in to 'register' after having read the many negative reviews left by others? The place itself is a nightmare to get to (a very long walk from the centre of town) and the 'office' is more of a 'dungeon' at the bottom of a lot of stairs.

The wait for my 'appointment' was longer than the 'appointment' itself. I say 'appointment', all it consisted of was meeting with a rather rude lady who just read my CV back to me and took my contact details. Without exaggerating It lasted all of two minutes. She didn't even seem to know a great deal, if anything at all, about the job I had applied for. So I wasted time, money and effort commuting in and out of town for...well...nothing.

Strangely enough I never heard back about the job I applied for (it was almost as if there was no job and they were just duping people into registering with them...). I do, however, receive regular texts about other jobs but most of these are totally irrelevant to me. On the rare occasion these texts match me with a job I'd like to apply for, upon ringing them they claim the person I need to speak to is 'not in today'.

Thankfully i'm now temping with another agency and never need degrade myself with 'Careermakers' (Timewasters would be a more apt name) ever again.

So In summary, 'Careermakers' are a shambles of an organisation and if you want my advice: don't make the same mistake I did by going into see them. Read the dozens of honest, negative reviews and save yourself the trouble.
