A magnificent theatre and its being restored to its former glory. It's really great that the Capri Theatre, has remained as a theatre showing, great films current and films of yester years. So many of these wonderful theatre's have been demolished, losing so much of our wonderful passed history. It's a real joy to be able to attend this theatre and watch a wonderful film tonight called "Last Christmas " Also to hear the the organ playing before the film started, that was so enjoyable. Yes I do recommend people to attend the Capri Theatre to see films where possible, as the prices are reasonable and all the money goes back into the theatre. The theatre is run by volunteers who do a wonderful job giving up their time for the theatre. I do know that they are always looking for volunteers, so if you have any time to spare, I know that they would be interested in meeting you. They also have a cafe for soft drinks, confectionary etc. There is also plenty of parking.

Take yourself back to the golden era of cinema at the Capri. The place is all decked out in art deco style for that old fashioned cinema feel.
It's totally run by volunteers, and they even make their own choc tops in a few different flavours.
If you go on the right night you can see and hear the old WurliTzer organ being played right on the stage.
They have heaps of special event nights with all your favorite cult movies.

My photos don't do this theatre justice. It is a beautiful old theatre which is kept in a wonderful way by volunteers. It's worth going along on a night when the huge organ is being played before the picture. It's quite spectacular.

I just love going to the movies here. The staff are friendly and the cinema is very good (hint: there are some very nice seats at the back of the bottom section).
One of the best parts about going to the Capri, however, is the overall experience. Compared to a new cinema that opened recently, going to see the movie at the Capri is an event. The foyer is grand, the bathrooms are easy to find and spacious (this is, I learned recently, not something to take for granted) and there is plenty of light.
Basically, I want to go back again and again. I hope to catch the organ before the show next time!

Love this old gem of a cinema. I take the grandkids here on school holidays. Excellent priced tickets. We all love watching the organ being played and then lowered out of sight. Beautiful inside and very clean. Friendly service too.

Great old style traditional movie theatre with the organ that comes up through the floor floor, played by a real person, and you can see the instrumental organ in the walls as he plays it as the introduction before the movie

It's a fun experience to go see a movie at this volunteer-run old-style cinema in Adelaide. A peculiarity is the large organ that is also connected to a couple of percussion instruments and bells etc. When we went to see a movie, an elderly lady played the organ like a synthesizer until she finally slowly descended through a trapdoor below the stage together with the supercharged organ instrument. Weird, but worth the experience! The tickets are on the more expensive side (~AUD17), but considering that organ experience, and that it's operated by volunteers and all the income is put towards keeping the cinema in shape, it's an ok price to pay.

Great old-time cinema. Staffed almost exclusively by volunteers. Great candy bar.. awesome choc tops and you can enjoy a wine or beer before the movie. Although it's an old style cinema, it still screens the blockbusters alongside the smaller indie films & nostalgia films and its' screen & sound system are first rate.

Adelaide suburban gem.

Adelaide suburban gem.
Was totally surprised at the sound quality for such an old theatre.

The iconic Capri theatre on Goodwood Rd offers a great selection of new releases, kids films, arthouse and nostalgia. Owned and operated by the theatre organ society of SA, and staffed by loyal volunteers, the Capri is a must visit venue. The foyer, the amazing organ, candy bar and even the toilets will have you sighing for the glamour and charm so rarely found these days. There are many great cafes and bars nearby so it's fun to make it a night out. ENJOY!

What a wonderful venue, amazing staff (Rob Jordan and Cassie) and the enthusiastic groups of volunteer staff. It's old school with modern projection. Huge venue. It's old school but nothing like what you expect. One theatre only and offers a small selection but certainly no less appealing

Beautifully preserved, Gorgeous Art Deco cinema. Like stepping back to another era when cinema was king. There is a wonderful and extremely unique organ which plays for free before some shows and you have to see it to believe it. There is also a great selection of snacks and drinks including wine and beer which can be enjoyed in the theatre. Popcorn is delicious and the volunteer staff are all friendly. Prices are very reasonable and I just can t recommend this place enough. Best cinema in Adelaide

Lovely old cinema (in art deco style) owned by Theatre Organ Assoc. Very well maintained. Run by volunteers. Clean, comfortable, relaxed environment. Candy bar is good value as are the actual ticket prices. Carparking can be difficult at times but still worth the visit. Latest movies screened. Also have special events (fundraising screenings and cult screenings). And of course the theatre organ is amazing to see and great to hear. Going to the Capri Cinema at Goodwood is an experience to enjoy and remember.
