My family has used this practice for 3 years but a problem has developed. I am grateful for the careful attention of the healthcare providers. The Doctors, Chemo nurses, office staff and Assistants seem well-trained, and perform their tasks skillfully. I have sat in the waiting room during my spouse's chemotherapy for hours and found comfort in the soundless videos of animals doing amusing things on an enormous flat screen dominating the entire room.
However, in October, threatening short films have been added that made many of us nervous. The screen was flooded with posters demanding the impeachment of the President of the United States. Getting rid of our President may be a goal of some, but for us whose lives are already in crisis, being hammered with that message while we are trying to relax is horrifying. I don't want to sound like a neurotic needing a "safe space" but the waiting room at Cancer Care is no longer a peaceful, non-controversial environment.
When I read literature for cancer patients and caregivers, the emphasis on spiritual strength & inspiration suggests that adding Scripture quotes to the videos instead of "get rid of this President" advertisements would soothe and encourage people in the waiting room. People who don't believe that there is a God, cannot reasonably take offense at reading that God loves them or blesses them. For the rest of us, it would be a comfort.
