Fantastic for kids and adults alike, the camera room is a great historical experience, and the museum of optical illusions has every type of demonstration. We spent well over an hour here after the initial visit to the camera room. Good value for a family visit, and possibly the best place to photograph the castle from.

Lots to do for children. Although I personally wouldn't bother with the room at the top. Boring!

Really great, fun place. We had a ball with the kids here, lots of interactive displays for them to get their hands on.

Make sure you wear the gloves in the mirror maze, other people weren't bothering and the fingerprints ruin the illusion completely!

I really enjoyed this place. Edinburgh castle was not open yet so we decided to kill some time here. The kids really enjoyed it because the displays are really hands on. The show led by Laura was very entertaining. A word of warning, if you have young children with you keep them close by when entering the mirror maze. My child managed to run straight into a mirror, which could have ended badly.

Brilliant place!
You can pop in early in the day and continue to use your ticket all day, even going out for lunch before returning.
Not recommended for those who struggle with steps owing to the amount of them in the old building.

Such a great experience. This place is a must each time we visit Edinburgh. Visit with confidence knowing that they have their covid measures in place and enjoy the experience without the crowds. A real treat during these strange times

Great destination at any time of the year, but the views across the city and across to Fife on a sunny day are spectacular. Some exhibits are a little tired but the quantity and variety are awesome.

This attraction has 6 floors of pure visual entertainment. Playing tricks with your senses is all part of the attraction here and worth a trip, especially if you have kids or are big kids yourself!!

Great family attraction spoiled slightly by a questionable machine that allows you to change your face from white to black/asian etc...not really okay in this day and age...

On the whole a great attraction and well worth a visit.

A fun experience into 6 floors of obscure illusions and mind boggling brain teasers, with top floor to take pictures of the city and architecture an the Castle. Admission a little pricey for what you get,but overall a pleasant experience.

Camera obscura is the most amazing place I've visited. It's very interactive and appropriate for all ages. You start the tour from the top of the building and work your way down. You actually learn stuff while having fun. It's cool that you can come and go as you want once you purchase your tickets. I highly recommend it for a day of fun!

Excellent value for money. Spent about an hour and a half there. Loads of illusions to interact with and great views from the top looking over to Fife. Hand sanitisers a plenty if visiting through these covid times.

Five floors of absolute fun for all ages! It was wonderful, and it was amazing to see all the illusions that looked so realistic! The show at 7:30 when we went was one of our highlights! It was very funny and interesting!

Amazing place went whilst on holiday in Edinburgh in summer. Has a fun mirror maze and colour illusion tunnel. Lots of cool illusions to have a go at inside. If you get a stamp you can also go in and out throughout the day if you have other things booked eg. We went in obscura at 9 till 12 then went to the castle for a couple of hours then we went ba k into obscura

I'm 28, going on 29... and this place still made me happy and extremely satisfied. I had fun like little kids! So much fun things to see and do there. I was alone so you might need some help from others to take your pictures while you are there :) Top floor has a very nice rooftop view of beautiful Edinburgh. If you are in town, this place is a must! 2 hours will be plenty enough.

Neat spot right next to Edinburgh Castle with several floors of hands-on exhibits. Can get pretty crowded and the main exhibit lasts only a few minutes. The view from the top floor is really nice and worth walking up the 6 flights of stairs.

You could easily spend two hours in here, each floor of the building is packed with a wide variety of illusions, games and tricks to interact with or be amazed by.

The light show on the top floor was closed when we visited due to the weather, which is the only reason I don't give 5 stars. Although they did offer us 10% discount because of this, I have heard that this light show is the best thing in the World of Illusions, so it was still quite sad that we couldn't see it.

Staff were friendly and gave us umbrellas outside while we were queuing to stay dry and overall it was definitely worth the visit, would definitely go again.

Absolutely fantastic experience, kinda like a cute science museum. All the staff were super friendly and entertaining. Didn't realise there could be so many different types of illusion. Picturesque panoramic views of Edinburgh from top floor, and loved the mirror maze and vortex tunnel on floor 2, and of course the musical stairs and autowed machine! Great for kids ans big kids alike. 10/10 would recommend.

I had walked past this place so many times, but never gone in, however, someone else took me and I wish I had gone years ago. It's really interesting and there is a lot to do. The illusions are great fun, so are things like plasma balls etc. It makes you feel like a kid again. There is a tunnel thing there where they spin the outside and you run across a bridge. It is so disorientating, but masses of fun! There is also a maze. For those old enough to remember the movie 'Big', there is a Zoltar machine too! Definitely worth a visit.

I had so much fun.

I had so much fun.
There was a lot of variety and thing you can interact with.
It wasn't very educative but that made it more fun.
I definitely recommend it.
