Visited Camera Obscura whilst it was raining in Edinburgh. It was very fun and entertaining. It takes 1-2 hours to go the whole place. Every floor has a different section. The mirror maze and illusion tunnel is definitely the best! Totally recommend and it's worth the money.

Found information about it online and wasn't too sure about visiting it (the price) but I am glad i decided to go. The best memories from Edinburgh come from this place. Worhts the money!!

I have been to Camera Obscura a number of times and enjoyed it immensely each time. On one occasion I thought I had been inside for about 2 hours, turns out it had been 5 hours. Interesting illusions, lots to look at and plenty of interactive things for the kids. My son particularly enjoyed the "trumping" chair.

Cheerful experience. Stuff is super friendly, they have small parking area for strollers and even offered us baby carrier. So its definitely kids friendly. Mirror maze was cool but we liked light tunnel the most. Camera obscura is not really worth going (but it was cloudy day, so cannot say how it will work on a sunny one). So it's a must visit place

Went with some relatives and my 7yr old daughter, had a blast for just about 2hrs.
The views are lovely at the top but because of time of yr the periscope wasn't very good so got offered a discount but still the nice man at the top gave us a show of it working, All the staff were great and actively involved in making sure we got the most out of our visit.
Well worth It!

Fantastic place, amazing illusions. You can spend whole day there, just too much and too many things to read, try and experience. Their ticket structure is also useful as if you are staying in Edinburgh then you can come back on that day to visit again so you can do multiple visits during a day. Worth visiting.

Had such a great time here with my girlfriend last week. Staff were very nice and helpful. The illusions themselves were entertaining. Must have spent almost 2 hours here. Plenty of fun for people of all ages. Would recommend this to anyone.

Have visited this years ago and now again with my little one for the toddler festival. It's definitely great adventure & fun for kids! Loved the festival.extras eg.chemical experiments etc.!

Given its location, you could mistakenly assume that this is a typical tourist trap activity. The Obscura itself is worth the visit, but the additional floors of optical illusions are genuinely fun and interesting.

I would say this is a must if you have children.

Due to the holidays and most likely the weather it was incredibly busy. Because so many people were let in it meant that the different rooms and exhibits etc were ram packed and it was difficult to move in some of them. The obscura was interesting but honestly the best part of the whole place was the gift shop! Would not recommend for anyone over the age of 11.

This place is ideal for kids and for adults. Very funny and diadrastic. There is also a 10 minutes show on the roof top, very authentic and is happening with the same thing that was 50 years ago.Ask for Ollie, he is a really funny guy.

It is a lovely place to see with your children. They have many exciting attractions to see and play with. Our favourite was the light vortex and the labyrinth with mirrors, but we enjoyed many others as well. We booked it during a busy time, noon on Sunday, but as it was manageable as they don't allow too many people at the same time. The staff was very helpful.

It's pretty interesting. Definitely a great place for kids. However, I found the place far too busy and feel like it was hard to see all the exhibits because you'd actually have to queue for a good look at them, whilst people squeeze past you. We had a show booked for a certain time, which happens on the rooftop, and you have to stick to your slot. We were ready about 15 mins before our slot but had to go away and come back for that time. The show was the best bit, the host (mikey) was really bubbly, interesting and funny. I was glad that we went back for the show!

Nice place, specially if you are travelling with kids or if you have a curious mind. Some minus points are that it's a bit on the pricey side and doesn't offer an explanation for most of the optical illusions it has

A great collection of oddities, artefacts and experiences relating to optical illusions. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff, great views across Edinburgh and an entertaining show also included!

Great!

Truly truly enjoyable experiences. Tips is to come early to get the ticket before getting into the Edinburgh castle then visiting it after castle as the ticket queue can be very long (in our case 20 mins) and the tickets allow you to come in and come out any given time in a day.

Was a pretty cool place. I wouldn't go there again, as I've seen a lot of the illusions and such online. Seems like they just plastered some to the walls. Dougal was very friendly and animated and personable when going through the camera obscura show at the top of the building. There were some cool sections of the building. It's a good place for a visit, not sure if it needs more than one visit though.

Best museum ever! Most museums are exhibitions are boring but this one is great, even though there is no actual artwork to see they are loads of fun activities for both adults and kids. With covid you can not walk anywhere anymore you are guided round by the one way system to its best to take your time. They are hand sanitiser everywhere so you are sure to be safe. It nice a cool so you can wear a mask and not get to hot. Wish they were more Museums like this around the uk. Oh pre book online so you don t get turned away when it s busy.

Built over a century ago, Camera Obscura still holds up to be an interesting science museum of optical illusions and interactive exhibits. It s definitely worth an hour visit to explore the six floors and rooftop but no need to stay longer than that unless you have kids.

Going there is a very exciting experience but it quickly gets boring for me. There are only few really interesting attractions, rest is for people who r interested in science. I was a little bit bored at the end.

Amazing! Such fun experiences, so much to do and see. Great day out for all locals and tourists visiting Edinburgh. Value of money, great location on the top of the Royal Mile. One of the best attractions of Scotland.

Five floors showcasing hands on exhibits where 21st century technology meets classic illusions and historic science, visual trickery from getting lost in the Mirror Maze. Camera Obscura awesome at the rooftop, spinning light tunnel absolutely great was our highlight of the day. Not forgetting excellent views of Edinburgh from the rooftop. Nearly took us 2 hours.

We recommend booking online to avoid long queues, tickets are valid for the whole allowing multiple entries.

We loved it so much we went twice! We visited after the castle about 5 o'clock, and I think there was an option of reduced tickets, or entry the next day. It's open until 7pm. We visited as a family, but you'd still enjoy it without kids.

We were two couples traveling together and was a bit tired of "history" and wanted to try something completely different and we were glad this was what we tried. So much fun for everyone and we spent a couple of hours playing and having fun. Would totally recomend this for everyone at any age.

I love Camera Obscura in Edinburgh. Starting from the awesome views from the top of that medieval building to the ones that you get from the amazing camera obscura, that allow you to see the city in real time. Very charming space, full of interesting activities and displays and good fun for everybody. Get ready to be amazed, surprised and to laugh a lot, because this place is a hit!
