Amazing place and experience! Loved that, especial...
Amazing place and experience! Loved that, especially kids were as so happy!
Amazing place and experience! Loved that, especially kids were as so happy!
Its a great place to visit with family. The kids will especially love all the little bits and bobs. Stunning views of Edinburgh from the top. My daughter and I loved the tunnel and the maze. Social distancing and sanitation was maintained throughout.
Went for night ticket (after 6pm), very entertaining, lots to see. No lift access, only stairs.6 floors.
Very cool place with neat illusions that trick with your mind and it's almost guaranteed that you will leave with memories and a great experience.
Good collection of optical and other mind tricks. Good with kids.
Absolutely fantastic fun. Camera obscura was brilliant on floor 6.
A quirky, quaint place where you can have fun, learn about the art of illusion and have a tour of Edinburgh using a camera from the Victorian era. All the staff here were lovely and inviting and that added to the whole experience! If your stuck for what you want to do in Edinburgh and history isn't really your thing, Camera Obscura may be the fun you are looking for!
Good value for the amount on show here. Fantastic views from the top of the building.
Illusions are great. Camera Obscura right at the top is a great experience
Great stuff but let down by capacity, ques and space at premium. Avoiding peak is definitely a worth wild thing to do.
Had an awesome experience here. Went as a solo adult and still had just as much fun as you would in a family.
The optical illusions are amazing but the Camera Obscura itself is the main point you have to make sure you see!
Amy was our Camera obscura operator and guide and she did an awesome job of getting everyone engaged, laughing and involved while very professionally going through the different areas in Edinburgh so we got the most out of our time in the room. Very happy
Excellent place. My 5 and 7 year old loved every minute they spent there and would love to go back. Great for adults too. Highly recommend it.
Fantastic place so much to do there slot more than we expected
Love it, kept my 4kids entertained from my 13 year old girl to my 1year old lad. Would gladly go back well worth the money and your ticket lasts all day so you can go for a wander down the high street, get some lunch etc then return to camera obscura. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. I would definitely visit again, a great family day out.
Only really good for kids. It has nothing to do with Scotland so felt like a tourist trap.
Great fun place for kids and adults! We had 3 hours of laughs and various activities. Well recommend for families and couples. Under 5 years old go in free of charge. The mirror maze was a highlight of our visit. Can't recommend enough.
We had SO MUCH FUN at the google city experts event here. [This review is better with the pictures which you can see on my profile or in my full review on my blog.]
As soon as we arrived we came to the first exhibit - an awesome kaleidoscope video set up with mirrors to make it look like a giant globe! I was having so much fun taking pictures of random, beautiful, colourful abstract patterns, I could have stayed there all night!
We eventually moved on and found even more fun stuff to entertain us, the mirror maze and spinning tunnel made for some awesome photos.
We also loved the perspective room.
Then we got our heads severed and served on a platter.
Before transforming ourselves into males, our older selves and chimps.
And there was some great entertainment from Panda Su who is a gorgeous singer.
There were some cool 3D pictures in a gallery.
There was an awesome room of plasma fun.
Followed by more entertainment from the very cool NAKED.
We had fun in the heat seeking room.
And I absolutely LOVED the awesome room of twinkly lights! Many, many selfies!
I would highly recommend the camera obscura for a fun day out - it has SO much more than I was expecting and I will definitely go back during the day.
Great place to visit! Loads of cool and interesting stuff!
The Vortex. You can't casually photograph it or video the experience. You simply have to GO and experience it. Multiple floors of mirrors reflecting deceitful realities, Tesla coils begging to be interacted with and of course the legendary camera obscura itself. So much to see.
Absolutely amazing experience. A must if you're in Edinburgh. Great enjoyment for all ages. If possible time your arrival for clear skies to get the max out of the camera obscura.
100 year old CCTV. You'll see what I mean. Great fun for all the family.... If you don't mind stairs.
A bit pricey but worth it. It is super fun but not a place for solo travellers. It.s much nicer if you're with someone else.
Had an absolutely wonderful time here, was very tripped out by the vortex tunnel...can't wait to visit here again!!
It's an amazing place to see and the staff here are really friendly. You'll surely have a great time here!
Nice place. Really fun and different! But a little expensive 15 or 16 by person. Could be ten! But there are things inside that was nice to do! There is a labyrinth with mirrors and the camera obscura it's great!
Very incredible experience. Lots of different activities ans lots of things to learn.
Do it! It's worth the time and price. Lot of fun and nice view from the roof top.
A great experience for the entire family. Definitely worth the price!
A fantastic place to visit, the camera obscura itself is really interesting and the talk from the staff is informative and amusing in equal amounts.
Amazing city views from the rooftop before you descend back down through the floors of exhibits that are very hands-on and well presented.
It's quite a climb up the 6 floors if you're not too good on your legs (no lift due to the age of the building) but well worth the effort. I only mention this as the disabled might struggle.
Make you fee like a kid again, missed out on the camera obscura, but will visit again.
Wow!! Amazing place and worth every penny as kids and adults alike can spend hours in there, rain or shine!! Thanks guys!
Really interesting illusions. Something for all ages with interactive displays. Amazing views from the roof but there are a lot of stairs connecting the six floors. Unfortunately not for the disabled.
While it seems a little quirky, this is definitely worth a visit for the Camera Obscura at least. Be sure to go when the weather is good (clear, sunny) as otherwise, your experience of the Camera Obscura will be diminished. The other floors can get very crowded so be prepared to deal with that. Alternatively, you are allowed to come and go as you please throughout the day so you can come back when it's less crowded.
First time going to this attraction and I don't regret in doing so. Amazing illusions, staff members ready to answer any questions on the illusions or the history of the attraction. I talked to one staff member who told me the history of the 3D paintings on the first floor, he was also a Supernatural fan which was cool
The vortex was fun but made you feel disorientated when you got off
The response to social distancing and cleaning measures was top notch
Well worth visiting for visitors residing in Edinburgh.
I've been to Edinburgh many times before but have never visited Camera Obscura as I've often thought of it as a bit of a gimmick tourist trap. I was clearly wrong. From the first part of the fantastic views from the roof terrace, then leading onto the actual camera Obscura which was fascinating. Then off to the many floors of different items that can distort, trick or wonder the mind. Well worth visiting, great for all ages. Worth going early to miss the crowds and make sure you leave a good couple of hours to see it all. You get an open ticket to return later that day, which we took advantage of.
One of the best places to go if you like optical illusions. Make sure you use your all day ticket wisely. Do not miss a single floor. Do not miss the Vortex. Do not miss the tour on the roof top. Do not miss the view from the roof top. Do not miss the camera controlling screens. Finally do not miss their shop. A very nice attraction with heaps of fun things to do. I highly appreciate Camera Obscura Edinburgh not only to people who loves Optical Illusions but for all, regardless of the age :) Thanks.
Amazing experience, mirrors and tricky pictures ' mind games ' for the shop I found that very expensive for things you can buy somewhere else half price, if you come in the evening and the weather was Claire Try to see the camera obscura in the last floor then you can back and complete the flow. Highly recommended for children and families.
Amazing experience. Friendly staff. Absolutely beautiful
Fun entertainment for half a day or a couple of hours. Quite narrow and crowded rooms.
Don't miss out on the top floor where you have a great view of the city and the actual Camera Obscura
Amazing, easily the best thing I saw in my visit to Edinburgh.
Nice, relaxing, funny, axtravagant. A place where to go especially when weather is cold and raining. Excellent view from the roof further more binoculars are available
Really cool optical illusions throughout, the camera obscura at the top floor is really interesting to see and the views from the roof terrace are amazing. 10/10 would definitely go again
Really interesting and entertaining way to pass a couple of hours. Friendly staff and a lovely view from the top.
I liked it, first few exhibits are breathtaking, but given I was paying 15 pounds , I was not ecstatic. We ended up on a great note with a super presentation upstairs, but over all, a little more imagination would have been much appreciated. IT IS A GREAT PLACE TO TAKE YOUR KIDS. , one should not take that away from them.
This was a super cool museum which showcases various forms of illusions and effects. The camera obscura is demonstrated live at the top of the museum. Definitely worth seeing if you are visiting Edinburgh. The city has a history of "paranormal activity" and thus museum does a decent job of adding to that weirdness.
Super Fantastic experience, kids and us absolutely loved everything...mirror maze and vortex was out top favourites.
Not cheap to get in, but worth it. Fantastic views of Edinburgh from the top of the tower.
The actual camera obscura show is a projection of the city onto a special table using mirrors and lenses at the top of the tower. The guided tour of the city whilst viewing it is interesting.
The other floors of illusions have plenty to entertain kids and adults for a few hours.
If you only have a short visit to Edinburgh, this and the Castle would be the top two places to go.
Welcoming and friendly staff. Certainly something different to do. Loved every bit of it.
Such a great place with friendly staff and fun things to see. We simply had a good time, recommended to all ages.
Really interesting, enjoyed every floor, staff even let us see the camera obscura after they normally shut
A wonderful afternoon x x x did the Vortex a few times x x x You must visit the Toilets too x x x
We had a lot of fun playing with the different displays especially the tunnel that totally freaked us out. The camera show itself was amazing really funny and informative
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant, great for kids and big kids. You can get just the best photos for the family album too!
Really fun place. 1.30-2 hours you'll need here. For kids and adults! Make sure you see the view at the top!
A great experience that will bring out the wonder in young or old. Lots of interactive displays to turn us all into big kids. I won't spoil the wonder by going into details. It was really great to see a sign saying to take photos too. Make sure you visit the top for great views of the city, and the staff are really friendly!
For fans of illusions and the bizarre, this is the place to visit! Highly enjoyable experience
Friendly staff and amazing exhibits! My favourite was the infinity room - also be aware (there is a warning but I entered the wrong side) there is a huge tarantula hologram... if you're an aracnaphobe like me it will almost kill you! Despite the spider, the place is wonderful! :)
It's okay.
It's quite expensive for what it is.
Wouldn't bother going again.
My son absolutely love it. For whole family specially teens.
Amazingly fun day out, one of the best things we did in Edinburgh
This visitor attraction houses a wonderful world of optical illusions and interesting mind bending stuff.
It s a fantastic place to take kids and is also interesting for adults. Will probably take around 3-4 hours to have a look round the whole place and see the historic camera obscura itself at the top.
Also provides great views across Edinburgh from the roof terrace. Genuinely one of the best visitor attractions I ve been to in Edinburgh.
Brilliant alternative to history and tat. Well worth it if you love light and illusion. Great views from the roof too.
It's not quite worth the price of admission however you will get some of the best views of Edinburgh from the rooftop which is almost worth the ticket price alone.
I visited Camera Obscura and World of Illusions on the recommendation of a co-worker. Overall, I did enjoy the visit, but I didn't leave "memorized" as my co-worker said I would. The Camera Obscura was nice and seeing the different exhibits was fun. If you're into into cameras and photography I recommend a visit.
A really good attraction. Blane was amazing. Good job to the whole team
Very knowledgeable and funny staff (thanks Christine for the great show and vortex tips!). This is a perfect place to spend time with curious kids. Highly recommend the vortex and mirror maze.
Don't miss out! All about illusions, I spent more than 2 hours interacting with brilliant activities
Good but could be much better - they need to install a elevator fast
We found this place by accident and the kids loved it! So much so, that we have been back 3 times now. Great interactive hands on activities suitable for all ages. Fantastic fun!
Good place to take the kids to keep them buzy for a few hours with lots offs shops beside it.
Such a fun place to visit!!!! Would highly recommend if you're looking for something unusual to do, we had tons of fun
One downside I'll point out though, is that the museum isn't accessible at all for people with disabilities, I wish that could change in the near future!
This is a really cool place! Enjoy playing with high tech cool things!
Amazing family day out with amazing interactive attractions. Had a family day out for my daughters birthday and we all loved it
Great place to visit on a wet day, lots of fun interactive exhibits
