A great location away from the bustle of Cairns, which would suit those with their own transport. However a cheap uber will get you in to town for under $10. Reasonably price and the meal and drinks were also fair. For a family they have pools and a play ground. Enjoyed our time and big thanks to all the staff - all very helpful and happy to answer any question we had.

This hotel seems to focus all its marketing efforts towards Chinese tourists groups, which is fine, but at the very least they should greet their guests in English, no? Called the reception, she also answered the phone in Mandarin. Great if I were Chinese, but I'm not so I just felt alienated.

The place is it's own world. Wide expansive grounds with vegetation all around. It seems to serve as a hub for group tours, so watch out since check-in and check-out can take a while. Hotel restaurant is no good. Parking out from is available and free. Free internet for 250mb per person per day.

If you have good command of English and are not part of a packaged tour, there are better options in Cairns, go there instead. Better yet, if you're in Cairns for the Reef or the beaches, just go straight. Don't hang about here.

Highly recommend. The service is very good and so are the amenities. One weird note was there were no blankets or Duvets on the beds. I know it's far north Queensland but most people prefer more than 2 sheets when they sleep. Room was a little dated but Clean and comfortable

Very clean with 3 sparkling swimming pools. Our room (superior) is quite large with 2 Queen beds, and a large bathroom. All rooms open to a garden or pool view. Set in 4.5 acres a $14 cab ride to Cairns Esplanade. The $15 all you can eat breakfast is ok without being outstanding. Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, baked beans, hash browns. Plus cerials, fruit, yoghurt and muffins.
The Thirsty Flamingo bar and grill has a very limited menu which we thought became boring after 3 days. The resort boasts free wi fi but it is very very slow and connection regularly falls out. It's just ok for Facebook, but useless for YouTube or iView.
The resort seems to be very well maintained. Freshly painted and good fittings. The superior rooms are quite a distance from amenities and are on two levels. If you are unable to handle stairs, request a ground floor room. As seniors with disabilities, we struggled with our luggage to get from reception to our room. There is no porters available to help.

Had teams of young basketballers terrorising the place and staying the whole week without supervision . Slamming doors, running on verandah and stairs, knocking loudly and excessively on doors and shouting outside our room, wrestling in the rooms til all hours. We were not sleeping well and were worried for our family. Security were unable to control them. Was not relaxing at all. Stayed in places around the world and never been so disgusted by this lack of respect shown for others by the guests and some staff (not all).

Would not recommend staying at this time if teams like this are staying.

Great tropical resort which is a great place for any event. I had my wedding reception at the Lockhart Ballroom and pre-reception at the Thirsty Flamingo. Service was really friendly and thank you to Selin who did well helping us make our day special even with us being her first wedding event.

Really liked the complementary one night stay after, room was really nice and the chocolate was a cute touch to celebrate our wedding day. The next day we got locked out of our room when we were promised later check-out instead of 10am. But we got that resolved at front reception and was able to get our things and check out 11am.

Other than that thank you for the friendly service and the hard work to make our day even special. The food was yummy too Breakfast was good too with coffee and tea available as well.

Thank you again

Not upto international standards. Better to spend little more and get rooms with more comfortable beds,, bathrooms and restaurants. Says WiFi free but very poor connection.. Or none at all most times. No help from club staff... Please avoid staying here at all costs. One hour walk from esplanade. Nothing in the vicinity unless you move out four to five kms.

Regret this booking

Polite staff. There are also German speaking people to communicate. Completely satisfied. 3 pool and 1x soda grotto. Bus goes to Cairns. If you book you should book the rooms in the back pool with grotto. The Asian occupancy evening in the pool is not that strong.

Had a lovely afternoon with a group of mums and their bubs. Plenty of space to hang out by the pool with a drink and an amazing food platter. Staff were very welcoming, which sadly isn't always the case. Highly recommend for any family or child friendly event

We were lucky enough to get a refurbished room. Good beds. Air conditioner could do with a thorough cleaning. Room key didnt work. But overall, a lovely room. Breakfast OK, real eggs would be nicer than the powdered scrambled eggs. Staff and service very efficient and friendly. A large resort that now looks tired and rundown. Attention to detail overall is needed. Would I stay again? Probably not.

Staff were super nice! IMy roommates accidentally misplaced by card and they were kind enough to give them a new keycard, and escorted us back to our rooms.
The pool was a good place to chill after a long day.
The poolside bar has a good spot for peeps to watch TV, and a corner where kids can play around. A ping pong table is also included.
The morning buffet was not good, not terrible either. OK-ish, I guess.
The location was also a bit...out there.
Other than that, I have no complaints! A good place to bring your family and friends to if you wanna chill in Cairns.

This would probably be a great place to go for a holiday with your family if you ve got young children. I was here on business and my room was a long walk from reception so was not ideal for me. I also had a million ants in my room but I think that s normal for cairns.

I have been going to the Colonial club for many many years. Under its new management you wouldnt waste your money. Understaffed. Not maintained. Even notes telling us we have to ask to have rooms made up or it wont happen. Poor!!!!!! Complained and was offered a free meal. BIG DEAL!!!!!
Try the Novatel. At least there it is correctly staffed and managed

Great hotel for a good price! Rooms always kept tidy and staff was very friendly and helpful, especially the shuttle bus drivers! The only downside is the distance from the city. You can walk from the hotel to the city, but it takes up a good chunk of the day that could be spent exploring the wonders that Cairns has to offer! The shuttle buses are convenient so make sure to inquire on scheduling details. Pool was great, but the "hot" tub was more like the "warm" tub at best. Our stay was quiet and undisturbed, which made for nice relaxing mornings and evenings. Beautiful resort and an overall great stay!

The staff were very helpful and friendly. Smiling when they see you which I value as it gives me insight into the ambiance of the place.
The card to rooms abit of an issue but staff always helpful during it.
The rooms are clean and spacious and when your tripping around all day that's all you need.

My friends and I stayed there for 4 nights and I am very pleased with the service and attitude by the staff at Ibis. They were very friendly and helpful, giving us some decent advice on tours and where to go.

The location was quite close to the beach side, and not so far from the main streets. The room was clean and tidy, it had enough space and provided enough privacy for us. The only downside was that the hotel did not provide any toothbrush/toothpaste.

Overall, we think the value the hotel provided was more than the price we paid. I would strongely recommened this to my friends and relatives.

Top 3 things to know

Top 3 things to know
1) Book directly with the resort. I got the best rates by speaking with the reservation team over the phone. The guy I spoke with was excellent - he upgraded our room, offered us early check in and a discounted breakfast option.
2) If you have young children, you may want to request staying near the main pool where they have a children's playground and climbing frame.
3) For a quieter experience, request a room near the club pool. This has a swim up bar and is less busy than the main pool (and we found significantly quieter).
More:
We had 4 people and we stayed in a refurbished poolside room (442) - it was modern, clean, light filled and the location was great. We ate dinner at Flamingos (on site) which cost $139 for 6 people for dinner and drinks which I thought was reasonable. Only down side was the buffet breakfast the next morning. I would not recommend paying extra for it. Scrambled eggs, mushroom and beans were all watery and sausages and bacon did not have a good taste. Toast is standard white or wholemeal - no raisin or gluten free options, coffee is filtered or coffee bags - no espresso options. Apart from that, we really enjoyed the swim up bar, the large, clean refurbished room, the choice of pools and onsite dining options. We will definitely stay here again!

Ruined by a roach on the pillow when We first stepped In ( but the room looks clean and tidy), and a Japanese receptionist (T) who services with a compliant face and nasty attitude, other than that, it was not a bad stay.

The staff were lovely.

The staff were lovely.
The room was comfortable but a little dated. I liked that I got a new towel each night.
I felt invaded when I came back to my room and the lock had been changed. A heads up would have been nice. On top of that, the girl at the front desk acted like it was weird when I told her my key no longer worked. Next time I'd like to be told it was happening, especially as I only checked in the day before.
The breakfast bacon tastes weird.

Honestly, it's called a resort, but the exterior doesn't look clean.
But I was very happy here during my stay.
A spacious and pleasant room could be used at a lower price than a double backpacers in the city.
The swimming pool is also pretty good, so I stayed for six nights and seven days and used several times.
It doesn't clean up completely. But they change the towel and clean the floor every day.
There is a Korean female employee here. She was lovely and kind.
Anyway, I was happy here, but the resort location is a little bit far from downtown, so if you don't have a car, you might experience some inconvenience in traveling.
I recommend this place to family and group travelers.

To be honest, it's a resort, but it doesn't look good.
But I was totally satisfied with the price.
It was cheaper and more affordable than a backpackers double room in the city.
The swimming pool is also pretty good so I stayed for 6 nights and stayed a few times.
It doesn't really clean it, but it is cleaned every day.
There was a Korean staff and it was great to communicate.

Anyway, I was happy but the resort's location is a bit far from the city, so if you don't have a car, you may feel uncomfortable.
