Friendly staff and very relaxing for all age groups
Very run down from what it used to be. Place could be amazing! Someone needs to give it some love and money. Cheap place to stay though and rooms are nice
Quiet facility. Beautiful laid out, friendly and helpful staff. Reasonable rates. Look forward to my next stay.
Very nice hotel with very helpful staff, the breakfast there is great
Far from the seafront, the surrounding environment is generally
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! beautiful room at an excellent affordable price, will be recommending to others. Very relaxing environment also with great friendly staff
Good well priced resort. Beautiful grounds and pool areas but rooms are a little out dated. Restaurant was okay but the adult burger meal was smaller than the kids meal!
Room was clean and recently refurbished. Pools and spa were freezing but coming from south i expected to be able to swim at 23 deg but water was like 10 deg even spa.
No breakfast in room only in dining area and option of buffett only.
Would be great for kids.
Got upgraded to one of their renovated rooms, awesome pools, buffet brekky was pretty sweet too. Would highly recommend staying here, staff were so helpful and kind
Perfect, good reception, clean, pool restaurant and nice bar. Very good value for money
Lovely Staff, Yummy food, Comfortable beds, Pools accomadating for all
I stayed here with my children. The Room cleanliness could have been a higher standard. Buildings still run down. Not a good breakfast either. They say they have revamped rooms. Yeah may be a new picture or mirror or bedding. It's not a 4 star thats for sure. Staying at the Mecure hotel in Townsville the colonial club has nothing on them. I know the comment might be harsh but some of the motels in Cairns really need to wake up. Disappointed over all.
Incredible hotel with beautiful scenery, pools and friendly staff. Highly recommended.
Rooms need updating, too far 2 walk to reception, No airport bus, to expensive, shower in room 243 no pressure
Very nice hotel complex with swimming pool centrally located in Cairns. With rental cars you can explore the sights very well.
Nice set up but a bit run down. A bit of a face lift will do it wonders.
3 stars for the helpful staff. -2 star for the bad bad wifi, couldn't even open a webpage smoothly, had to use my own hotspot for a stay.
Bathrooms need to be spacious. The water from the shower just comes out and it makes the floor slippery.
Front desk is horrible...
Rooms are great, very clean (except ants, naturally). Staff are super helpful and kind. Wouldn't recommend the buffet breakfast as there's cafes 5 mins walk and much better.
Laid back, friendly, beautiful pools, gorgeous grounds. The upgrade is most welcome. Food has improved although breakfast could lift its game. There's table tennis now and a great playground. Short walk to Edge Hill cafes and the Botanical Gardens. And very cheap!!
Have stayed in the rooms a couple times. Very nice and clean, the pools are great!
Thirsty flamingos bar is and amazing kid/baby friendly spot to spend the day. The staff are very welcoming food was great and coffee was delicious, and is a great place to take the kids for a play and swim, highy recommend giving this place a go.
Overall good service, friendly staff. They will do their best to make your stay enjoyable.
excellent staff especially Reception staff very helpful, pool area is nice & relaxing with a drink or food or read a book. rooms good in peaceful & tropical gardens outlook!
Staff badly organised. Not enough staff. Rooms old in bad repair and not very clean. Food very expensive for what you get.
Good atmosphere, very busy and waits for drinks are quite long however friendly service.
It was our first time at Cairns and we decided to stay at the Cairns Colonial Club Resort. We stayed there for 7 nights and the service there was amazing, the staff were helpful and friendly. The flamingo bar/restaurant staff were exceptional and looked after us. There were renovations going on but we were aware of that and it didn t concern us at all. Can t wait to see what it looks like once it is all done. Thank you very much for making our stay comfortable and worry free. We had an amazing time and can t wait to stay there again
Staff is mostly nice, had a few minor delays with things but overall a nice place to take the family for a weekend if your a local, it's also great for tourists
This place is overrated, noisy with late night arrivals at all hours of the night.
The rooms have no basic utensils such as a microwave, toaster . The staff are friendly and helpful.
The management team need to listen to visitors complaints, and do something to fix it.
Great place to visit. Food great bars have good range if you are not a Sydney beer drinker .
I had the best steak ever but could not finish sides.
Definitely going back. Over 480 rooms and prices reasonable. Staff helpful and friendly. June no humidity and weather great.
Really bad experience. Bad service because you have to ask for bed sheet to be changed otherwise they won't change bed sheets. Food was ok. I would not recommend this place unless owner do something about experience.
Food is average , very nice gardens & swimming pools . Room ok , but they could get better pillows for bed . Wi-Fi terrible
A sprawling resort with a nice pool. The food from the restaurant was pretty unappetizing especially for the price. The poolside bar also did not open once during our stay. Seems like a good place for children. The staff was friendly and accommodating.
Nice resort, comfortable beds, tropical window view and three awesome pools with waterfalls, one of the pools also has a spacious spa. The resturunt isn't always open.there are free pool inflatables in the biggest pool if you want it
Hotel arranged by the airline as compensation for the delay, cleanliness ...
Rooms are a bit outdated but all in all it was an enjoyable stay. The pools are amazing and a highlight of the resort. Staff were very good as well. Very knowledgeable on the area and we got some great information on day trips to the Daintree rainforest. Lots of little ants though in the rooms so you really have to be careful if you have any food.
Had great time from the Sarina state high school ILC Camp, Pools were great, Rooms were nice and Food was awesome.
Stayed here when our flights home got cancelled. The staff here really did look after us. Great example of proper customer service. Special call out to the front desk, restaurant and shop staff, you turned a stressful day into a relaxing one! Thank you! Even though we didnt chose to stay here I would certainly look at coming back. The facilities were great and felt like a really good place to bring a family.
Lovely stay at the motel, however got to dinner at the restaurant and one meal was messed up 3 times. Another 3 meals took over an hour to come out while the rest of our table had finished eating.
One staff member Glenn came around to our table and didn't even apologise for the mistakes made. He was also collecting the menus and mine was under my plate. He asked to me to lift up my plat (while I was eating) and give him my menu. Staff member Brendan was wonderful and very friendly.
Trouble with this place if don't have a car no no close shop's or eating so that means you have eat there which makes it expensive and have to walk to Cairns
I had a wonderful stay, big room, clean big bathroom, breakfast was good, coffee could be better. The staff at the hotel could not of been more helpful, thank you to the young spanish lady that checked me in,for me i could not fault this hotel.
It is quite far from the town. However, it was not so difficult because it was a tour to pick you up to the hotel. It was quiet around and I was wide and comfortable to stop.
It was okay! Bit too close to the other rooms, we could hear the next people from our bathroom LOL so embarrassing, it's suppose to be private. Definitely needs sound proof
Great for family's, pool and play area, superior rooms are very nice
Child friendly places need to be shared and credited for their hospitality so the Colonial Club gets a shout out. We had a ball hanging out at the thirsty flamingo bar section of the resort. Our party had lots of mums with bubs and you never know how people will treat a group with many little ones but their staff were just beautiful. It has a wonderful breezey undercover area over looking one of their pools and its completely kid friendly. They have a playground, a table tennis table and loads of room for little ones. The food was delicious and fresh we tried half the menu between us all and my favs where the arancini balls and anti pasto. The coffee was also great, the fantastic wake up that every parent needs. Thanks guys we will be back.
yes its currently going thru a revamp, but it did need it.
its basic but functional.
reasonably close to the city area
not a lot of parking but it is off the road.
it is a very large complex and easy to get lost while looking for your room.
food is ok, drink prices bit on the high end.
Cairns Colonial Club Resort has been refurbishing there rooms and redoing the gardens as well as giving the buildings a coat of paint. They are revamping the restaurant so the resort is differently worth a stay and meet the friendly staff.
Friendly reception upon arrival, lovely rooms, lovely pools. Hospitality service a little wanting though. I Rang restaurant but no one answered. Tried again later, still no response. Went to restaurant and asked for gluten free options. Extremely limited menu options and staff just smile and not kinda response..not real help at all. Pools were the best though.
A hotel on a large site that is suddenly in a residential area. In the entrance, there are Japanese people at the reception desk. If you have an early time, you can leave your luggage, get a key in the room next to the reception desk, and take a break in a cooler room. There are multiple pools in the hotel and it is available from am 6 to pm 10 and is quite crowded. It is not walking distance to Mack or supermarket, but it is far from the city, but there is transfer of paid shuttle bus (we were 15 $ / 3 days with family pass) (the details are listed on both sides of hotel room beside reception desk) Please put the paper you are Shuttle bus is available from around 8:30 and tells you the room number and the destination. It will drop off in front of the dock to go to Green Island.
The structure does not appear as in the catalog and also does not have the characteristics of a four-star hotel. Poor cleaning, evident from the sheets and dishes, half electric sockets in the room not working. Structure to be reviewed.
Great place but seems to have outlived itself. There are many features that are mo longer being used around the resort. Could do with a little makeover and it would be back to it's glory days!
Doors didnt work, AC dosent work, food to expensive, room not clean. But beside all that the staff was nice and pool was lovely. But i wouldn't come back here again.
Great atmosphere, whilst visiting relatives when they were staying There.
Luxury for low price! Cleanest bathrooms and bedrooms I ve ever seen, the pool was fitted with a hidden spa for privacy and two connecting pools! Overall great quality would definitely come again!
Lovely large room with comfortable bed and bath. Just the ticket for a tired marathoner (3 marathons in 3 days). Friendly staff, quiet location.
The place is definitely in need of renovations and updating/caretaking. The rooms are currently being updated but the landscaping, walkways and parking lots are far below 4 stars. Everything needs a pressure wash and a paint as well. The pool areas are nice; however the pool bar seems to be permanently closed. The main restaurant and bar seem to be reasonably priced. The room was a bit outdated but seems to be quite clean. Overall the age of the place is really showing and causing it to feel kind of dingy. A little better groundskeeping and maintenance and I would've given 4/5 despite being outdated. Not disappointed for the price.
Rooms appeared to be clean however bathroom had mould on ceiling and window. Hotel is a 20minute drive into Cairns CBD, not a 20min walk as was advertised online. Shuttle bus only runs as certain times and is $5 per head each way.
The Cairns Colonial Club was Brilliant it was kept very clean and the meals were great and the staff were very helpful
