It's just a spoonful of delicious-wonderful this place. I don't think there is another cafe bar where the space has been thought about so intricately to create a calm and pleasant experience at all times of the day whilst also hosting live events! More power to the Glad

Great venue, community minded and sociable. Wish they did food in the evenings.

The new menu is totally fandabidozi. Wonderful food. Relaxed atmosphere and lots of evening events music, talks, films.

Amazing mixed culture up beat club. great live bands from all over the world play here. a verity of diffrent entertainment nights. from comedians to tarrot card readings to choir singing. good selection of beers..worth checking out. oh did i mention.Cake...wow..

I went to see the amazing Kate Richey and was extremely impressed with the venue. The bar and cafe are lovely and I will definitely be back.

Wow what a surprise. Great place an buzzing atmosphere.

Fair doos has nice food and that. But by the fact a significant portion of the staff are unpaid leaves a bitter aftertaste. Nevertheless it does manage to package itself as a socially beneficent organisation pretty well - despite the obvious problem of being built upon such exploitative foundations. So for good presentation I give it three stars.

The best place South of the River. A great ethos. Excellent, simple food, beer and music. You really must go!

It's a Social Enterprise, and all the better for it. Open mic night on the first Sunday of the month is always a good night. Loads of other stuff and gigs on too. Home baked cakes, good food, nice coffees, choice of draught lager, beer and cider interesting too. Nothing not to like. Wish we lived closer....

Excellent for a quiet lunch, a good night out or a gig in the back room. Food is moderately priced, drinks are cheaper than lots in the area. Comfy couches and warm decor.

Great vegan full English. Book ahead as it can be very busy.

Really good coffee and a great selection of small plates to share. Plus a venue and a really nice and quiet atmosphere.

Super hip brunching cafe and boozer. All diets catered for, coffee is really good. Too many folk with kids to really relax, but if you catch it quiet it's one of the better places in the Southside of Glasgow.

Small compact venue, great because your close to the musicians / groups / artists on a small stage

First time visiting & definitely won't be the last. I'm a meat eater but I have to say the vegan fry up was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had! The chilli beans & seaweed salted potatoes were my favourite part along with the sourdough bread. Delicious!

The cafe is very good the food is excellent it is a young lady that cooks the food and it's very tasty I was there on Christmas day for a free lunch and the food was delicious they baked three different cakes they were very good and they gave me food to take home with me the staff are very friendly and kind. Glad Cafe is more of a "social hub" than an actual cafe / pub / restaurant / venue. Depending what time of day you go there you could be having eggs served in one of a dozen different ways, sandwiches, Asian food or simply a coffee or a beer. Child friendly, Glad is a great place to go with family during the day, or with friends at night for a good choice of beers and the chance of catching one of Glasgow's up and coming music acts.

Laid back atmosphere , good food, great service... Cheap Williams beer. What's not to like?

What a venue. Such a fun mix of music, food, coffee and booze. The glad has done a fantastic job of creating a welcoming atmosphere with space to socialise, work and relax.

The food is just outstanding. And lovely waiter too. An oasis of calm.

The staff are very welcoming and friendly.
The food was pretty good too. The night we visited it was Babu's Mumbai kitchen's turn to cook. It was quite tasty but didn't leave us very impressed, mainly due to the fact that we'd been spoiled for the preceding three months on the subcontinent. A little gem of a place with a great atmosphere, great menu and friendly staff. They often have events on, so keep and eye out for something happening!

Great coffee and amazing ambience
and a good choice of beers for but all cakes had nuts so no cake for me or anyone else with nut allergies. Great choice for vegans and celiacs, so just one cake without nuts would be a good idea.

Loved this little niche cafe in shawlands area. Great decor and fantastic grub. A must for anyone passing through the area. Wish I managed to get a photo as any description I give would not give it any justice. They now have 2 menus to choose from for the r most if the day. One with lighter bites... Toasties etc the other with warmer stylised foods like braised beef. I couldn't fault the place other that it may harder to fnd something for the kids to enjoy. On a side note, if you have any difficulties in getting around or are with an elderly person or disabled person thus may not be the place. No accessible toilets, small entrance way the toilets that are available are up 3 stairs.

This should be five stars. I have no dea how you interpreted it otherwise? The Glad Cafe is an excellent resource in every way and has a lovely ambience whatever time of day you visit. It is friendly to all ages and there something for everyone.

I came here for breakfast. The service was good but in my opinion based on the food I had, nothing particularly special.

Poor vegan food. Over salty and expensive. Nice atmosphere.

A hipster vegan/vegitarian restaurant and bar. The food is tapas style and they have a good selection of drinks. Quite happy with my experience there.

The Glad Cafe is so much more than just a cafe. It is one of my favourite spots for catching up with friends as the late opening hours are fantastic for someone like me, whose schedule doesn't cooperate with traditional cafe opening times. The atmosphere in there is always friendly and welcoming. Oh, and the standup comedy night that runs monthly is a great outing too!

The Glad cafe is one of the best places for coffee in shawlands and also they have a great selection of beers and ipas. Their staff are really friendly, they have a great food menu too with lots of veggie options. They have really good music nights and an overall fun atmosphere. Would recommend.

Always a terrific atmosphere in here. Really laid back and friendly. My old man loves the "social worker chic" vibe.

This is a good cafe with a great selection of cakes. Also has a good range of beers.

'Sammy's Acoustic Open Mike' at 8pm on the first Sunday of the month was not Sammy's, not acoustic and did not begin at 8pm.
A resident group/band complete with drummer and electrically amplified guitars hogged virtually all of the first half, only to reveal during the interval that there were no more slots left for common types such as open mike performers.
Apparently people start gathering at 7.30, and if you want to claim a performance slot, this is the time for you to show up. . .
Some nice draught beers, a chill cabinet with its lights out, but not many customers buying anyway.
Perhaps the electrically enhanced hosts could try playing Merle Haggard's 'I Think I'll Just Stay Here and Drink'

Always a very good vibe in the Glad cafe, but the addition of the excellent chef from Detroit, cooking absolutely fantastic Asian style food (with great veggie choices) makes this a top place to eat out on the southside of Glasgow.
