Cafe Deux is a Vancouver classic, from their big chalk board menu to their kids play area to Thursday night open mic, they are not just a restaurant, they are a part of the east van life. Everything is vegetarian here, beer is local and pretty well priced. There are so many cool events here, I can't keep up. No wifi, so connect with the person sitting next to you instead!

By chance we ended up stopping by this morning after experiencing a long wait-time at another breakfast spot. I used to go here all the time with my mom when growing up in the neighborhood, and forgot just how good it was.Excellent variety of vegan/vegetarian options, a great atmosphere accompanied by prices that really make sure you get a bang for your buck. Definitely one of the best breakfast spots in the Commercial Drive area!

Its very dark for a daytime cafe but during the night they have live music + an all vegetarian menu that is well spread out on a chalk board with many options to choose from
The energy is funky and a little hippie like !!

Had a group dinner but food came really late and unevenly. Person who got the last oder have to pack the food because it came so late. Food and service was really bad. I do not recommend this place.

Food was great! We had the pineapple tofu vegan burger, the pesto vegan burger, and the tortellini, everyone was very pleased with their meal. I am only giving 4 stars because the washroom was dirty and the table was very sticky and felt unclean.

My favourite breakfast is the oeufs de Soleil. The touch of dijon is so good. Satisfying hashbrowned potatoes with onion.
I met a casual friend on my way out (at that time my favourite was the tofu scramble, succulently soft tofu) and I heard him say, "I sell the meat here", I was puzzled because this is a vegetarian restaurant. But in fact he said, "I seldom eat here." Brits!

Very nice place to go for a nice meal or a coffee break. Place is always very busy so expect to wait in line and don't be surprised if you have to sit at one of the many communal tables. Food is good, with a lot of vegetarian options, but a bit pricey. This place does not have a parking lot so street parking if you can find it.

Love this place. Good food, friendly and fast service!

Very good for families because they have lots of toys and a play place for little ones. It's super busy on weekends for brunch so finding a place to sit can sometimes be difficult, but the order line always goes quick and the food comes out fast!

Foods good, service is good, prices are good, nothing here is amazing.... but it s worth coming to.

My one issue ..... if you are going to have a cover charge for open mic night .... don t ask the people who are already there to pay, after they have already ordered food and have no choice but to stay.

I went here looking for a vegan breakfast/brunch option. The server behind the counter was really irritated with food allergy questions. I ordered a soy latte and she brought it iced, weird but whatever. Turns out it was dairy. I was so sick for the following three days. I clearly said I was allergic and she didn't care or was just careless in making the order. Would rate as zero stars if I could. I recommend any other option on commercial. Don't advertise as a vegetarian/vegan option if you can't be bothered to ensure you can provide safe food.

A commercial drive staple. Great vegetarian food and beer selection. Good prices. Weekly musicians and poetry. No wifi other than shawopen. Bowl of chili w/garlic bread at $6 is a filling meal and is probably the best deal health-and-calories-wise on the Drive.

Very helpful staff and a great atmosphere, but not a good place to go for allergies. I have gluten/dairy/egg allergies and there wasn't a single item on the menu for me. Great place to have a drink though.

Has a cool environment and friendly staff, spacious, vegetarian options and live performances. Drinks are good, food is good, and their decorations are all in support of local artists.

Went by to grab a place to eat once we all checked into our airbnb. Just happened to.have stumbled onto this place. Whilst the decoration is simple, the food was very tasty. However one thing people should note is, it is a vegetarian place. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Amazing vegetarian restaurant. The extensive menu caters to almost everyone. Try the tofu scramble! Good place for larger groups they have plenty of seating. Can he very busy and noisy on weekends.

Friendly community eatery which is particularly well suited for families. They also host lots of community events such as Drag Queen Storytime which my friend and I enjoyed greatly. It is also a vegetarian spot so a great place to take group with a differing food preferences. Definitely try the nachos! So good.

This is a favorite spot. A true hipster / family friendly vibe.
Parents can eat and let their kids play without an intense "keep your kids quiet" feeling.
A mishmash of tables and booths. It's noisy but welcoming.
The menu is vegetarian with a lot of vegan and gluten-free options.
I love most of the food, some is just okay. It's fairly inexpensive and the staff is great.
The real pull is the calendar of events.
Live music, beat poetry, and open mic nights.
It's a nice change from most restaurants in Vancouver.
I recommend going in the evening, enjoying a show and supporting some local artists.

The reviews were good and we were in the area so gave it a try. I wouldn't say it was amazing but perhaps our expectations were simply high and we were very hungry. The coffee could definitely be warmer and it's $0.50 to refill which I've never had at a restaurant. The ambiance is cute

Food is good and servers here are friendly. Appreciate the community atmosphere. The biggest downfall though is the lack of accessible bathrooms, which means my friends cannot patron here or attend events hosted here. In 2020 this is not ok.

This place is the essence of commerical drive! A bit grungy, free flow, open to everyone, counter service. The community itself adds to the vibe. Their vegetarian dishes are well put together. Great gluten free bread! Come for a snack, a drink or a meal!

What a great spot for a bite. Fantastic ambience and the food was delicious. We had some hash browns and a Veggie Burger with pesto and washed it down with coffee. All of it was just perfectly made and taste awesome. One of the gems on The Drive that we have to be thankful for

Didn't know it was a veggie place, but had great eggs and coffee in a random stop on my way home. Would definitely come back. Kid friendly, but place was big enough that it wasn't a problem for me to get some work done while I ate.
