Cash only. I had to wait long time for my food and the chicken wasn't so good. Ice cream is just delicious, you may find lot of flavors. Some of the people staff was taking the cherries with their dirty hands

Went on a Wednesday morning about 9am, not busy at all. I ordered an omelette with broccoli and cheese. The omelette was cooked too much, and the potatoes were unique and delicious. The english muffin was some sort of heaven. I would go back just for the english muffin. The overcooked omelette and the non-acceptance of credit cards is the only reason I couldn't give this place five stars. I read some of the previous reviews and the owner, Joe, seemed to refer to the reason they didn't accept credit cards as "We've been around for quite a while now and some of our older charms stuck around", but your older charm is making quite a tidy profit off the exorbitant atm fee the atm charges. So I quote, "A place that doesn't take cards is bad, but a place that doesn't take cards and has an ATM right outside that's just straight up evil. It's like "thanks for patronizing our establishment, let me kick you in the crotch on the way out!" I pass by there everyday, and since I rarely carry cash, I go somewhere that does. Too bad.
I was introduce to the place by my cousin and every time I go here it reminds me of how a dinner should be. Packed and full of joy. Love Cabot's, take the time to stop by you will not regret it.
Cabot's is that place that stands the test of time. It doesn't need to change. Classic hot fudge sundaes with dripping hot fudge all over. Banana splits, Lime Ricky's, burgers, fries and whole lot more.
Good classic diner food but the real standout is the ice cream with good flavors and even better sundaes. Seating is limited so you may have to wait but its a great place for families.
Delicious Ice Cream. Went to Cabot's Ice Cream for the first time. The portions are very generous. The ice cream has a wonderful creamy texture. The raspberry lime rickey was very refreshing. They have outdoor table service in the parking lot so there is only about 4 parking spaces. Plenty of on street paid parking spaces.
If you're in the area, you have to stop at Cabot's. The food is solid, the atmosphere is straight out of 1969 but meticulously maintained. It's like jumping back in time. And then, of course, there's the ice cream menu. It's exhaustive in flavors and options. Floats, freezes, banana splits, so many delicious options. For me, the orange sherbet freeze is the best I've ever had. Always a great stop.
A staple whenever visiting Newton, Ma. Yesterday I went for the first time since I was a child...and I remembered how good their ice cream is. Everyone in my party left satisfied. Service is quick and efficient, and the serving is large compared to their low price.
Decent food. Service can be incredibly slow. Ordering, food prep time, getting more water/drinks, paying, all can take a long time. They have great ice cream and old time feel. Consider it like a step up from something like a Friendly's.
Cabot's is a diner that looks like it was dropped here from the 1970's, and that's exactly why I love it. The classoc decor, home-y atmosphere, and absurdly large menu selection are why me and my family come back again and again. And the ice cream/milkshakes are to die for.
I've been coming here for 25 years, mostly for ice cream. Their meals are adequate, but nothing outstanding. Mostly burgers, starchy foods, etc. I come for ice cream only, and when I do it is always the same thing; "Fudgeana with peanut butter sauce added, with oreo cookie ice cream, whipped cream, banana wheels, and nuts. It's about $7 and a fairly good sized-sundae.
The downside? They don't accept credit cards. CASH only! Once I took a friend in there for a sundae and had forgotten that and had no ATM card and had to go to a supermarket and purchase something with cash back. Talk about embarrassing!
All in all, a good place to take the family. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is like an old-fashioned ice cream parlor. Though I've had better ice cream, it's definitely among my top choices. Another thing; they are not open on MONDAYS!
This spot offers superb service as well as tasty meals. My favourite spot in the city. The meals came out quickly and the prices are economical. Will definitely recommend this restaurant.
The food items are described very well on the menu, but most turn out delicious regardless. If you are counting calories they won't be able to tell you, but friendly staff.
Friendly servers who all looked to be high school aged kids at the time we were there but were all very polite and professional. Menu was diverse but food was mediocre at best. The interior of the restaurant was fun but it was crowded and noisy inside. Ice cream tasted like anything you could buy at a supermarket. I d say go for the experience but not the food.
Not many ice cream flavors. Vanilla and chocolate tasted store bought, the lime Rickey was made with too much syrup, omelette was made with frozen vegetables.
So. I can see why it says "& Restaurant" near the end of the name, why it's secondary to Ice Cream. Ordered a burger medium well, rather simple. Came back well done like a shoe. I held my tongue out of respect for the establishment. The fries that came with it were common thin fries hard enough to chip away clay, again held my tongue. I'll likely never order actual food here ever again. It's getting three stars because of the Ice Cream, it's unique enough to merit three stars, you'll understand once you order a classy sundae of theirs. So, if you're on a cute date, just get the ice cream.
Really unsanitary. Workers don't wear gloves when scooping ice cream then they handle money, dirty plates, pens, receipts and don't wash there hands and then continue scooping ice cream. They touch everything and don't wash there hands or put on gloves. They pick the cherries with there hands even when there's a scooper. Good ice cream, gross workers and germs.
If I could give this restaurant 0.5 stars, I would and only because of their ice cream. My sisters and I wanted a nice night out so we decided to go to Cabot s but instead of getting our usual ice cream, we decided to try their food. BIG MISTAKE. When we first got there, it took the waitress about 15 minutes to come to our table. After we finally got our food, my twin s BLT didn t come with mayo, how weird to just assume that people don t want mayonnaise. But worst of all, my 10 year old sister had been begging for a good chicken caesar wrap all week, her favorite food of all time. When the wrap came, she soon found out that there were olives, tomatoes and romaine in her wrap, rather than iceberg and croutons. My sister, being extremely disappointed and not wanting to pick out the majority of her wrap, she sent it back with her fries that she wanted. We expected for it to be taken off of the bill seeing as there wasn t one bite taken out of the wrap or the fries but when the bill came, they still charged us. When going up to the owner to ask for it to be taken off of the bill, she fought us on it and refused to take it off, forcing us to pay for a sandwich that hadn t been touched. The thing is, their restaurant is booming every single night, I think they can afford to take one sandwich off of one bill. Absolutely terrible experience.
My girlfriend and I walked down from her apartment on saturday to get some breakfast, having passed this place the other day. The place seemed packed and it looked like a small diner, that would at least have some okay food. We were so wrong. THEY HAD AMAZING FOOD! Their waffles were amazing. The coffee was perfect diner coffee. The staff was amazing. The waitress, ugh, she was the best. This is a new staple in our weekly ritual, now.
I LOVE Cabot's! Feel grateful to live in walking distance. The vibe is awesome, ice cream is great and staff are friendly. The best kind of place! Note: it's cash only.
No credit or debit cards accepted!!?. What century are we in? This is just not ok. To add insult to injury, the atm was out of order. Bad business. I'll come back when you accept cards. Feel free to charge me, but not to have it an option? Give me a break.
