We stayed there for the first time a few weeks ago (2 adults, 2 kids) and it was a great experience. Loved the room- very spacious, fireplace in the bedroom, nice deck, beautifully decorated. It felt much homier than your typical hotel room. The family pool was lovely, never too crowded, and had delicious healthy options. Beautiful lavender and views throughout the property. We ve stayed at other family friendly resorts, and I think this is our new favorite.

Wow, just wow. Very nice, secluded, quiet beautiful place. Hill suites are private and very well appointed. Great views of valley and golf course. Food was good and spa very nice. Need jacuzzi and sauna in spa. Steam room small but locker room was not crowded.
Beautiful golf course, great food. The weather is usually warmer than other courses in the area. I highly recommend golfing here on Monterey golf trips.
This is my favorite hotel to stay at in the Carmel area. It is great for everyone from families to couples. The rooms are clean and spacious and spread across the 300+ acre hotel. If you get the chance to get up early, there is a yoga deck on the hillside you should check out for the sunrise yoga class.
Went for lunch and to try their wines. Mother who loves wines, enjoyed their house made Pinot Noir, said it was smooth. Their honey was on point as well. Relaxing atmosphere around the pool, although my experience was during lunch time around noon. Vinyards are in walking distance from the kitchen. Great mimosas! Food taste great, but don't expect a 1-star meal.
I attended a Red Cross fund raiser here and was greatly impressed. The grounds are immaculate and the buildings and service are wonderful. The setup leaves plenty of space between buildings and provides several areas for gathering and outdoor events.
The rooms were nice, but it required a lot of uphill walking to get to and from the lodge. The lodge food was decent at best. No microwave in the rooms was off considering how expensive this place is. Also, if you plan on golfing or playing tennis, make sure you "look the part" or they won't allow you to play, even when paying the fee. Our TV wouldn't stay on but others didn't have that issue with their room. There was construction going on and they started around 7:00 AM which was a buzz kill. Very few activities for kids. Beautiful location and tucked away.
Overpriced unless you enjoy countless dogs (even in restaurant) and lots of kids.... No appeal for couples, no music, and concierge service was lacking.
It's a nice location, efficient service but far from luxury. The hotel seemed more like a standard Hilton or Sheraton that needs a bit of updating. Our room had a basic concrete floor which was a first for me, especially for a "luxury" hotel.
It's amazing the turn around of this place... from the previous owners who built some slick out of place East Coast style resort that simply didn't fit with the valley. JDV has done a phenomenal job. Their pool deck and infinity spa are beautiful, the playful nature of the added elements like the swings are too much fun (you must do it while you are there.. a simple, storied, fun moment). Their gift shop is the best organized and stocked shop I have ever seen. They offer endless activities and options. I am no golfer, but meet at the clubhouse in the morning for the "bee keeping experience" - you get to learn about the lavender honey and bee projects they do on site, as well as dress up in bee keeping outfits and do a couple tastings. It was so much fun.
The rooms are exceptional.. we had a hillside suite that stared out over Carmel Valley. It's the most beautiful place in the world... and we just took it in from our patio, or our huge and exceptionally comfortable bed (one of the best I have ever stayed in), warmed by our huge gas fireplace. It was room 309, and it was a fantastic place. Rates are steep. STEEP.
The breakfasts were outstanding, the dinner was fantastic - the menu is concise, but the options are all delicious. The bartender is a classic - and kept making us some of the best drinks I have ever had - classics for me, fun stuff like pear martinis for wifey. I am looking at some of the drinks we ordered, and sparing you the nasty details, I can safely say we enjoyed ourselves.
It's certainly a place to save up - but it's a true weekend away rather than those sloppy, half-assed "staycations" that just don't re-energize or rejuvenate like they should. I am starting to think you need 3 days, or it's not worth it. So my advice... 3 days, and call me in the morning.
The fact that the main pool is not allowed for anybody under 16 is unacceptable. The pool for young adults is a mile away and has nothing to do with staying at CVR. Also, the food service at the main restaurant was subpar. Our table was dirty when we got seated and took over 10 minutes to get our servers attention everytime we needed anything! The food quality was good at dinner, but took over 1 hour to get it. The breakfast brunch selection was poor and the food was unimpressive. The pancakes were over cooked, by seating so long in the warming tray, same as the scrambled eggs. The pastries were stale and hard, almost felt like day old croissants. On top of that you have to get your own coffee if you want a decaf latte, because they "don't have enough room for a decaf container". We've been visiting this property for the last 12 years and this by far was the worse food experience ever! It should be a 3 1/2 star hotel at best.
We were booked to stay two nights, however on arrival we were asked, Are you aware of our power problems?
We weren't. We were then told there was currently no power to the rooms - no hot water, no heating, no lights etc, and asked if we still want to stay?
For $1250AUD we decline. No discount was offered, no apology for letting us drive all the way there without contacting us.
As if this wasn't bad enough, were not offered so much as a cup of coffee! No help to find alternative accommodation, absolutely nothing. We asked for the manager, she never came.
We had lunch at the hotel so we could work out where to stay and were impressed by three of the hotel staff. Again, we were offered no discount and nothing complimentary, even though the manager knew we were there.
I recommend people spend their hard earned dollars elsewhere. It's when the chips are down that a service's skills are really put to the test, you don't want to be there when you need help. You certainly won't find it!
The power outage was not their fault, the way they handled the situation was.
Hotel has done a great job opening while remaining safe. Appreciate the fact the staff has done an excellent job with wearing medical masks properly at all times.
We stayed one night, and had a great time. Our room was in the Bluffs, near the trailheads which were beautiful at sunset. Our room had a soaking tub on the balcony which was very much useful! Love that the pool for adults is 16 and over, much more relaxing vibe. Cocktails were good, wine list was great, although the beer list left something to be desired. We would definitely come back with kids, the activities are abundant. Lastly the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive.
Overall this is a beautiful location and very nice place to stay. The room was nice right down to heated floors in the bathroom. The view from our room was basically a tree.We were treated well. The only complaint I have wast the noise. There wasn't a ton of noise mind you but the room doors are so thin apparently that literally every little noise in the hall was crystal clear in the room. Why the higher end resorts haven't put sound proofing in is beyond me. Again, overall a nice place to stay. Not sure it is worth $800 a night but....
I stayed there in mid July, while at a stock holders meeting. There's just nothing discomforting to say about this place, everything was very nice! Don't worry about bringing your own golf clubs here, the rentals are very nice ( I had new Taylormade set).
I love this place! The staff are wonderful and ever accommodating! The food at the main restaurant, Valley Kitchen, is superb. Chef Tim and Chef Chris always promote the freshest of, local to the region, ingredients to complement anyone's taste buds. Also, they make sure any diet or allergy is adhered to. Also, they are more than happy to work with you in reference to you specifications. I have never eaten anything I do not like at Valley Kitchen. Yummo!!!
Our room wasn't ready until 5 which was inconvenient especially since we had a massage appointment at 5. Got charged for a higher rate. Did get credit back but it das a hassle. Staff is really nice and friendly
Awesome golf course had a great day there with my Son for his Birthday with a couple of his Best Friends & my 2 extra son's. Had a Birdy & a bunch of Pars. The coarse was beautiful and a very nice layout. Excellent hope to go there again soon.
The rooms and the location is awesome. The restaurant worth a visit. The service was unfortunately disappointing (forgot to clean the room, didn t had any complimentary drinks, etc). At over 1k USD per night for a room that should be a non-brainer. Missed chance.
Location was great, rooms were great. We had a blast. Very nice for kids to run around in an open area. My main issue was service. For the price your paying the service wasn't up to par. And I don't mean the staff weren't friendly, because they were.. but things ingrained into the place.. phone calls weren't picked up, overcharging us for certain things, many more examples but I won't be laborious. It might be they are understaffed. We had a blast there, we really did.. but for the price, immaculate service should be ingrained. Oh, by the way, super dog friendly.. more than most places, so a big plus as well..
The rooms, adult pool and Valley Kitchen restaurant were excellent. The Clubhouse restaurant and having to shuttle/drive everywhere sucked. I stayed mid-week for $250/night on HotelTonight (use code SUNYOO2 for $25 off) but wouldn t pay full price.
Have stayed several times in the Garland Suite with a family of 4 and 2 dogs. Not fair that our two dogs have stayed in such a beautiful luxury resort. Friendly staff, great food, beautiful grounds. Dogs are not allowed in the pool area but that is fine. If you are looking for a great place to relax this is it.
Attended Carmel Valley Ranch for a wedding. The Venue was very scenic and picturesque. We were situated at the top of the ranch with an amazing view of the surroundings. The staff was extremely nice and the banquet was quaint. On a side note, our dinner was surprisingly good. It's a charming venue.
This is the first review of any type I have ever written but given how bad our experience was I feel obligated to warn others. After traveling from Atlanta to spend 6 nights here I can definitively tell you 1) this is not a destination resort, 2) the staff is very unpleasant and service is poor, and 3) highly overpriced given 1) and 2). Do not waste your precious family time at this place. I would have rather taken the week off work and taken our kids to the pool everyday versus being around the rude and incompetent staff at this resort.
A beautiful property featuring a golf course a vineyard a few pools and lots of activities. Make sure to check out the goats, chickens and beehives. Nightly s mores at one of several bonfires make this place a hard to forget experience.
Pool/jacuzzi open 24 hours. Lots of activities at the ranch: basketball, full gym, tennis, golf, yoga, bee keeping, horses, hiking, and much more. Food was also really good
Great place to relax for couple. I'm not sure if little children will enjoy it here.
The service was good. People are friendly. I got my room super early, and that was bonus. But my co-workers got her super late, 5:45 , so they gave her a wine and $50. Their explanation was that they had a big group leaving and a big group coming in.
The room is beautiful and big with great view, but maybe a but far for people who do not like to walk. It's 5 mins from my room to lobby. It's a nice nature walk if you enjoy it.
Food here was ok or good but not great. I had breakfast, and it was delicious: fruit was fresh and the home made granola with nut was very yummy. Dinner was ok. My company did a buffet dinner for us, and the beef was very chewy while the mushroom was very tasty. I would say their deserts need to be improved. The desert at our buffet was not impressive. We also order 5 differnt deserts in my room to try, and none of them was worth eating again.
I did the bee experience, and it was very interesting. I learned a whole lot from it. It's a bit pricey though $75 / per person. That's include the tour and honey tasting. Who knows blue cheese and honey taste good together. You also get a little hand balm gift made out of bee was and lavender oil at the end. It's only recommend for children 6 and older though.
Beautiful California oaks atmosphere. The rooms are clean and modern (with surprusingly comfy pullout couches). $6.50 is too much for a black drip coffee.
We have been going to the ranch for years and have never been disappointed. The service has always been friendly and top notch. Dining is wonderful, especially more recently. Enjoy the spa services and the fitness at the lodge and below at the Ranch club. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable and inviting to just relax in.
This is an incredible resort, with a focus on the wellbeing of its guests and in using truly local, artisanal products to enhance experiences. Charlie the goat cheese artist, to the activities team, the CVR events team, and the bee keeper are all aligned to not only inspire lasting memories, but hopefully a lasting change in how we travel.
