My favorite small mountain within a 2 hour drive. Food and lodging options only a few miles down the road, friendly staff, short lift lines, well maintained trails and very reasonable pricing with discounts for college students.

Small family friendly mountain. Went w friends on a holiday week and it wasn't as crowded as Windham etc. Snow was particularly bad due to warm weather, I don't think small resorts like this can handle snowmaking like the larger mountains can. I asked for a refund and they granted my request. My child continued to ski, he had fun. I can ski in slush and grass.
There's a town just down the road for dining and shopping. A pleasant way to spend the day.

I have enjoyed going here for over 10 years. I think they do a fantastic job of taking care of their snow! I ride every trail when I go. If only the main lift was faster. I would love to be able to make more than 4 runs an hour. But, that's my only complaint :)

Absolutely in love with this place. I had been searching for over a year for a place to teach my children and this place has everything. The learning hill is totally separate and a beautiful pitch to teach young kids. They have a daycare that starts at 6 months, way earlier than any other mountain I tried (almost a dozen in the Berkshires and Catskills!)

So many little touches make this place THE place to raise young kids.

While the mountain lacks any steeps it really is a blessing. Being in the Berkshire s they don t get the snow Vermont does so whole other mountains get skied up and icy quickly, Butternut has consistently better snow quality. The other advantage of not having steeps is your 1000 vertical goes much further and you will be cruising for longer than anywhere else south of Vermont.

The trees and geography are beautiful, everything feels like a beautiful village where your kids are always safe. What a blessing this special place is!!!

Very family friendly. The price of a season pass cannot be beat and their snow making is excellent. Loses a start because the mountain is flat with no advanced or expert terrain.

The ski school is excellent. Want you kids to become proficient skiers or racers I suggest checking out their 6 week class. They are very well priced especially considering the classes are like 4 hours long.

Fun mountain with a great terrain park. Even though it costs $10 to get a terrain park pass, it's worth it due to just how nice it really is. Otherwise, the staff are very friendly and the slopes are fun.

One of my favorite ski resorts!

It's small but never crowded when we go on a weekday. The runs are not long, but they are interesting: wooded, winding and a little narrow (in a good way.) Lifts are a little slow, but we have never waited in line. And, best of all the weekday price is fantastic. I can't wait until my daughters can join my wife and I; the place a has a great family vibe.

We had a great time tubing! The 3 kids were enjoying themselves so much they didn't want to leave. The conveyer belt to help you get up the mountain was appreciated after walking up a few times. We thought the $25 for 2 hours of tubing was an appropriate cost and we all felt we got our monies worth!

Pleasant, low-key local hill with mostly moderate terrain and a couple of terrain parks for the tricksters. Two friendly base lodges, one with an excellent small ski shop. Applejack is one of the Northeast's classic woodland cruisers, with plenty of knolls, curves and rolls. If you have a child who's worried about the lifts, go see Will at the beginner's chair. He's one of the best loaders in the world and a landmark in his own right.

The lessons went in depth, instead of other places where you strap yourself in and go down a hill *cough cough* Catamount *cough cough*. The hills, I'm not sure about. 1st time doing snowboarding, so I didn't go down any of the larger hills. I'm not sure about the food either, since I brought lunch, but they have the basic stuff. Burgers, hot dogs, fries, chicken strips, soups, and other stands around for stuff like waffles and burritos and all that. I'd definitly recommend the hot chocolate, it's great! The lodge is nice, but gets crowded in waves, so make sure you get yourself a table at abound 1-ish. The seats outside are very nice, but you'll be cold.

Have not skied Butternut in 10 or more years. Went early, changed in parking lot rather than going into lodge, skied 7-8 runs in a little more than an hour, and was home by 11am. I was skiing on a Blandford pass since Blandford isn't open yet. It was a fine first ski outing of the season!

Amazing skiing awaits you at butternut, you get an amazing view at the top of the Berkshires. I only wish they would consider night skiing, there is an untapped market of those who would really enjoy a good night ski.

Having both skied recreationally and worked at Ski Butternut, I still think it is a great place for what it is. It isn't a high-end resort with on-site lodging, spas, restaurants and clubs. It is a great family oriented ski mountain that is affordable and offers great instruction and youth racing programs. The ski shop and lodges are decent and something for everyone can generally be found. With cold temperatures their snow making can cover the entire mountain making them one of the first mountains to be open for the season and last to close for the area. You won't find a lot of expert terrain here, but with 22 trails and a terrain park, families will be able to enjoy a great day skiing.
