Nice mountain for beginners and intermediates. All...
Nice mountain for beginners and intermediates. All the trails were groomed and there was good cover.

Great little ski area. Always hit this place up midweek non holiday for their $25 lift ticket and am never disappointed. Of course if you ski after rain storms or warm periods it can get a little icy, but welcome to new England skiing. Went here after a nice cold spell and snow making was in full force. A couple trails were closed during the day to continue snow making but there was plenty of other mountain to enjoy. Have been on holiday periods and weekends in the past and lift lines can get a little long.
Great fun for a little new england hill. 5 stars with faster lifts.
It's a decent ski resort but it makes me nervous how old and wobbly the chair lifts are
We loved it!! It's was our first time and the staff were great. They helped alot and made sure everyone had a great time. Also great prices. Would love to go back!
Overrated, crowded on week end and icy tracks. Half the staff is rude, the other half nice. The overall hygiene at the restroom (stinky) restaurant (hair in food) is bad.
My GF and I went to spend the day and get a class. The line to get the pass and pickup our gear was absurd. The snowboard tech messed up both of our board bindings lenght, we both had to go back. Then, My binding got stuck because they were probably crappy, I had to go back to the shop again to get them replaced. She was about to messed up the binding length again... No apologies, I was treated like an annoyance instead (I was very polite). They need more staff and better qualified staff at the snowboard shop.
The tracks were crowded and became icy very quickly.
The bright point of the day was the teacher, she was great.
It wasn't fun and won't recommend anybody to go there. For the price, go farther north, this place is overrated.
Went skiing for the first time here, the boots were really really heavy, the instructors were nice gave helpful tips and have a lot of fun for a very good price.
My favorite mountain to drive to from where I live in NY. Low lift ticket prices and a good size mountain for the area. It's not Colorado or Vermont mountain but it will more than do. Numerous green and blue trails with a few black if that's your thing. Terrain parks are set up well for beginners and those with more experience. Staff has always been nice. Food isn't the best but shouldn't expect gourmet dining at a ski slope.
Convenient location. A good place for families with young children.
Great place to learn. Awesome instructors and consistent conditions.
Great time on the hill today with my son. Good snow, nice people and good value. Live music at the upper lodge when we stopped for lunch. Not too crowded. I'll definitely return and I'd recommend to others.
It is a really nice venue for festivals and concerts in the summer months. Wide open, scenic spaces.
Butternut is a great beginner ski mountain. Super affordable season passes, and the BEST snow making operation around!
Now that I've been in the area and actively ski (or rather snowboard) most winter weekends for the last three years, I can easily recommend Ski Butternut as a great local ski area. Their ski school is excellent; they're a Burton Learning Center, but the steal is the afternoon Saturday 7 week learning program. As of 2020, it cost only $260 for 7 week, 2 hour long group lessons on Saturday afternoons. It took me from zero to doing blues the first time I completed the multi week program. I learned to ride as an adult and didn't want to keep falling and learning on my own. It was really easy with them showing me what to do. I liked it so much I took it again (after skipping a year to practice) to learn more advanced stuff like carves and getting enough speed and control to enjoy black diamonds. Season passes are only $299 with advanced purchase. Weekday passes are as low as $25!! Keep your expectations reasonable as they're only a 1000 feet vertical drop. They're not Vale and don't pretend to be more than they are. However, they are friendly, courteous and eager to have you enjoy your time on the snow. No night skiing, they do have several lanes for snow tubing and the grooming is excellent. They have snow making on almost all their trails. Their website is well kept up with condition reports. Their lodge is reasonable and provides limited locker, food, snow gear. Close enough to NYC and CT for a day trip to enjoy the snow. Let me finish by stating that when I was the only one at the group lesson for adult Saturday program, they didn't put me in with kids or try to lump me in with people who are very different skill level. Rather, they had me one on one (probably not the most profitable solution for them) and they did what was best for me to learn. I was so impressed with my progress, I told my friends who all loved the program when they did it and we are all season pass holders.
My family and I went for the tubing. We had a great time! Family friendly and the staff kept everything moving smoothly.
Very good and cool recomend it
To pleople who are bigginers
When we got there they said that the price was $25:00per person the sign said $15:00 per person they said it was a holiday weekend so the cost was $25:00 per person there was not one sign saying that the sign said $15:00 per person on Fridays I feel that we got ripped off it cost us $150:00 instead of$90:00 we won't go there again
Great place to go with family or friends! Perfect place to help a friend learn or even to go for the day if you are more advanced. Wasn't too crowded and they have great season pass deals.
We have always gone to Butternut for thier park, they always had good features, for all different levels. This year if you aren't really good in the park dnt bother going in, theres big gaps from kickers to rails, theres no medium sized things anymore.
Amazing work by the snowmaking and grooming team! Great conditions despite the recent warm temperatures and rain.
Good conditions, not too crowded. A good variety of trails. Tubing as well and good learning programs. Reasonable prices.
Best mountain! Been coming here every year for the last 5 years, my friends and I love it. Not too expensive, wide and long trails, nicely groomed, friendly staff. You can t get much better for a getaway from NYC!!! Can t wait to come back.
This is a perfect mountain for beginners and young skiers. The slopes are generally quite short meaning even the most severe slopes are skiable by even novice skiers. Our kids, 9 & 11 were able to confidently ski every slope after 2 days and they loved this ski area. The rentals are very good quality with knowledgeable staff, great place to ski and we will return.
Great mountain, brought my toddler today for her first ski. the fiest timer program is great for all ages and very affordable.
Snow quality always seems a notch above others nearby. High quality ski school.
Fun but not great, lodge was cramped and not clean. Food was overpriced and not very good. There are definitely better places to ski that aren't much further.
A great couple of hours tubing down the slopes. Kids and adults all enjoyed it. Friendly staff, good snow coverage
Nice family mountain in the heart of the Berkshires!
We were a family of 4 and had a great time at Butternut. The trails were groomed, and clean, the instructors of snowboarding were excellent. The food was decent and reasonably priced. Everyone was very helpful at the resort and the lodge was full but clean and cozy.
Great place. Theres ski school from 9-3:30 for $135. Our 3.5 year old was on a smaller hill, with a little track bringing them back up to the top. Very, very good experience. You can watch the kids or go ski/snowboard peacefully, knowing your kids are ok, safe and having fun. The staff is very good at letting you know everything, for ex, they called me right away to tell mr that another kid, knocked my son down. He was perfectly fine, he just fell over, but they tell the parents right away. We've been 3 times so far this year, just for day trips, and plan to go few more times.
Recently visited art show of the Berkshires at ski butternut. Great location. Lots of artists.
Great little mountain, staff was great with my little one taking a snowboard lesson. Can't give more of a review then that, I wasn't able to go up the mounts or have any fun but that's fault not there's.
Fun spot for tubing. A bit expensive though $25 for two hours.
best place for small kids to learn skiing in the entire region. Hands down. We love Butternut. If you are a good skier and want to be challenged, maybe hit the Catskills or VT. But, for family, this place is perfect. Such good value too- and right in Great Barrington which is, well, great!
This is a family friend beginner mountain. Usually it s not very busy but it s becoming more popular.
The slopes are long and not too difficult. The lines are pretty short and the terrain parks are well done
The chairlift broke while we were in it and we got stuck there for an hour until we finally got off to learn that the mountain closed , Biggest waste of 100$ i have ever spent
Been going to all the slopes in this area since I was a kid. Butternut is a great balance between clean facilities, nice trails, and an affordable off-season price.
Went tubing qith a bunch of family. Overall it was pretty fun. Our 7 year old had a blast and the staff there were really friendly with her.
Lots other walking around is required to get from one lift to another and there's sometimes no convenient way to get to the clubhouse. conditions were decent considering the recent temperatures.
Nice sized mountain if your not trying to go further up north. Cheaper rates too. Friendly staff and great guys helping at the lifts. Love this little spot
The best, beautifully groomed a #10 day could not ask for more
Thank you for all you do make it perfect.
Staff are super amazingly nice. Then again it was opening day. Conditions were decent in the beginning of the day and of course got a little icy towards the end. Great little hill though hopefully I'll be able to visit again!
This place is perfect for families with beginner/intermediate skiers/snowboarders. The runs are long and lots of fun options. The town is also a gem with quality cuisine, lots of farm to table and organic options which is what we always look for. We loved this place and will most certainly go back.
Had a blast at this mountain. A lot of trails. The lines moves very fast at the lifts. Never waiting in line. Trails are wide - nice for carving. Terrain park is so fun. Have a lot of jumps and rails to play on. The food court was nice;......to be honest, it was like any other lodge's food. Over-all, would definitely recommend and go back for a full day of hitting the mountains!! (The one thing I did not like was that they close mountain at 4:30p.m.)
Was there for an antique fire truck muster. Still the quaint ski area I remember.
For what it is, smaller mountain great for day trips from Southern CT and NYC, It works be a five. They have the best snow making in the area and great staff. Our favorite location for Massachusetts ski mountains. I gave it a 4 since it's not a large mountain. Vermont mountains are just bigger.
It is a very nice place for ski and snowboarding. They have plenty of slopes with all degrees of difficulty. This staff is extremely helpful. My son had his first snowboarding lesson here. The instructors were very friendly, patient and knowledgeable. Highly recommended both for beginners and experts.
Family friendly and perfect for beginners. We've been at the resort 2X this season and hope to come back once more before the end.
The rental line can be a lengthy wait, but the gear is quality and not beat up like other locations.
Lockers are also available, but these can can be on the small side (1x2?,) and cost a dollar every time you want to unlock it.
As with New England, skiing and boarding is best with fresh snow, but hard pack isn't as bad as you might think.
I loved that the longest lift dumps out into options for both advanced and beginning snowboarding, and allowed my new learners to advance their skills faster with a longer slope.
A decent mix of trail ratings gives enough variety to keep things fun.
Food choices are limited, with prices as you would expect, but are adequate, tasty and filling.
One more reminder to plan accordingly, since the lifts shut down at 4pm.
Great family mountain, great place for kids to learn.
You can ski here but today is very cold for anyone who is skiing on the mountain
Many people on here are saying how this mountain is for experienced as well as beginners. I have to disagree though, as the expert trails are basically like intermediate trails. It s just a very boring mountain, so if you re an experienced skier, I wouldn t suggest this mountain. (Also the ski lifts here stop every like 3 minutes so uh that sucks too)
I had amazing days at Butternut this season. Everyone that works there is absolutely lovely & they have local brews, too! Big shout out to Clara for helping this newbie out today.
First time tubing. Our whole group had a blast! It was my daughter's first time. At first she wanted to go home, wanted nothing to do with it. After the first run down the hill she wanted to go back the next day.
Beautiful small mountain with good variety great family ski experience
I don't know anything about skiing so IDK if the skiing was good or bad. I DO know about nice people and WOW, this place is top notch. I never write revies but feel so strongly I have been looking forward to getting back to service so I could write this one. Jess in Ski School reservations, Theresa in the rental shop and Harold in lessons were FANtastic. Truth be told as a 36 year old not atheletic first time skier, I was awful, (no, really) but the people were so kind and encouraging I kept going until they closed. My 4yo daughter had a great time at ski school. I am pretty hands on but after observing for about 30 mins I felt totally safe leaving her in the hands of her 2 ski instuctors for r kids! She had a great time. Being from Texas, it isnt exactly an easy trip, but I cant imagine going anywhere else!
Expensive for a small mountain but good for family times!
Small mountain and ski field, professional staff and services. Lodge is nothing special
Very nice family friendly ski + tubing. Ski Lessons can be improved
Fun and reasonably priced but the staff is inattentive
This place is always great! I don't know what it is about Butternut, but I enjoy this place more than I enjoy Killington. The way the trails are laid out make the skiing fun, and it's more than half the price of any big mountain. This is my favorite mountain in the Northeast!
