Having both skied recreationally and worked at Ski Butternut, I still think it is a great place for what it is. It isn't a high-end resort with on-site lodging, spas, restaurants and clubs. It is a great family oriented ski mountain that is affordable and offers great instruction and youth racing programs. The ski shop and lodges are decent and something for everyone can generally be found. With cold temperatures their snow making can cover the entire mountain making them one of the first mountains to be open for the season and last to close for the area. You won't find a lot of expert terrain here, but with 22 trails and a terrain park, families will be able to enjoy a great day skiing.
