Right off the first 5 minutes you go into the park...

Right off the first 5 minutes you go into the park, you can see it's outdated, some some paint starting to rust etc. The rides are A++ (Colossal curl, Corkscrew, and water moccasin). The layout of the park is horrible For example there is only 1 place in the park to get a pretzel (told by employee) it is near the wave pool the problem is after you get the pretzel you have to walk all the way back to the big cafe (near the entrance) to get any type of condiments or a straw/cup top. Prob 200 of a walk, abt 5 minutes. By the time we're at the table our drink was as hot as a coffee.

This park has also taken away ability to bring in your own food. My guess is the park is losing a good amount of money that they made that choice. Expect to pay $7.45 for a regular salted pretzel and a small soda.

The other problem I have is the price of the park. When we bought the Busch Gardens find hard it was included for the adventure Island for free so it wasn't an issue for us. But if you were to pay full price which is $55 and you have a family of 55x5 is 275 (plus tax). Plus the $15 parking. And to top it off the beautiful $7.48 for a pretzel and a drink. the corkscrew and the middle water moccasion we're closed, The first 20 minutes before we left the park the corkscrew open but the water moccasin stayed close. I asked employee why the middle watermark is closed he said because there's a big crack in the middle. Doesn't that just make you feel comfortable for part that was built in 1980. A crack in the middle he said he has been closed for a couple months he doesn't know when it will be open again.

Other than that it's a good park but I have to say spend the extra money and go to an Orlando water park (Aquatica, Voclano bay, Bluzzard beach)

Thanks for reading the review and take this into consideration

I have been a passholder for 3 years now and after this pass visit I was very disappointed. I understand being busy thats not the parks fault. But only having 3 widows open when there was a 200 people line is ridiculous. I waited for over an hour and wasn't even half way thru. I had to leave because my 9 month old couldn't take it.

Its a nice waterpark but its tiny. Wahoo run has a huge empty space of grass below it, perfect for more rides. And even when driving on the steeet you can also see another large empty grass lot in front of the water park. I don't know if they have plans for that but they should because its just an eyesore.

Eh, go to busch gardens instead. The rides are so old and bleh. Same ones like I rode 20 years ago. The wait is forever, the park is small, lots of hazardous spots. Everything kinda smells moldy. I think their idea of upkeep is pouring more chlorine on everything each year. You'll probably get a rash..they do a much better job with their other parks..I dont know why. My guests were very underwhelmed. Only newish things saw were the towel and merch shops..

If it is good but everything is too expensive. You buy a pass to eat all day and then you realize that you can only use the pass every hour and it is not in all establishments. The best thing is that the children have a lot of fun ...

One young man at the tower of Colossal Curl and a lifeguard at the wave pool were very friendly and had big smiles for everyone. Some of the other employees need this outlook! A few suggestions we would make are to have family friendly (maybe beach-theme) music at the wave pool. "Surfs up!" "Catch a wave!" when time for the waves!
Great weather until about 4pm when some wind and black clouds nearby closed the tower slides for about 45 mins. A little pricey but it was an experience the kids will remember!

A lot of fun for all ages. Only downfall is it isn't very handicap or stroller friendly. Lots of stairs and bridges and there aren't always ramps right next to them. And some of the slides for smaller kids are located on the other side of a pool you have to walk through and then up a hill alongside a waterfall. And the lockers are expensive! $15 dollars for an all day rental.

Really enjoyed this place. Considering covid is still a very big thing they do a good job of making sure people are wearing mask and they do temperature checks prior to entering. There was plenty of space to social distance. I would recommend this if you are trying to get out of the monotony of staying home during the pandemic. Be safe guys!

I love this place! Too bad it doesn't stay open year round (after all, we ARE in Florida). If you can, go during the week, even if for a couple hours, much less crowded and you will definitely get to enjoy more. :)

I have passes so I go often with my kiddos. Actually our go to place to cool off in the summer, as for us its closer than the beach. The rule at the park is no outside food or beverages are allowed, but we've brought in water and small snacks before in a towel bag with no issues. I think they just don't want you bringing in coolers or a bunch of food.

Great waterpark. Lots of lockers and things to do for all ages. Wish the "skip the line" passes worked a little bit better...meaning they got you closer to the ride entrance, but had a lot of fun. Definately will return. Yummy funnel cakes! Just be prepared for all the stair climbing!

We love AI but don't like not being able to bring lunch or snacks. Went with a friend recently and she went out to the car, ate her lunch, then came back all while I was STILL waiting in line to buy my food.

Sunday, 10/11/15, a group of us Florida residents ...

Sunday, 10/11/15, a group of us Florida residents bought annual passes and headed to Tampa for a day at Adventure Island. It was the first rain-free Sunday in a month. After a 40 minute drive, the attendant who is responsible for collecting parking fees tell us the park is only operating 6 rides. I asked how many in total and they said 12.
"What happened?" I asked,
and the staff member said so many employees called out that they had to operate at 50%. Instead of being concerned with fulfilling their promises to their customers (many of whom are locals and pay a monthly subscription fee), they are keeping staff busy in the parking lot charging for cars to sit all day. Adventure Island management, get your head out of your collective arses. Please reevaluate your motives and the way your actions are perceived by a watchful and deserving customer base here in Tampa. Staff your company, if you can't you are in deep trouble, but in the meantime, focus your staff so you can fulfill your basic obligations first, those which we have already paid you for. Then try to collect add-on's.

We turned around and left. After all who wants an adventure island with just 6 uber-packed attractions? And probably not the good ones.

Very disappointed with my last visit. After coming to Adventure Island for literally almost my whole life since they opened in 1980 I think this may be our last year. For starters parking is $25 now. $25?!?!?! This isn't Disney guys it's a water park. Then after so many years of being family friendly by allowing small coolers to be brought in, offsetting the exorbitant costs of feeding 3 children throughout the day, I find out they are no longer allowed. Not even allowed to bring snacks in your bag. But if you're going to force me to pay $13 for "chicken" tenders, or whatever that was inside all that breading, the least you could do is serve something decent. And not a huge deal but only made my day worse when 2 out of 3 flumes not running some waited 30 minutes to go down one slide. My favorite place on earth has turned into a corporate money hungry business just like all the rest. Very sad.

Loved ot since i was a kid but no drinks or food inside? Bs! And they need to monitor people skipping in line better always seems certain self entitled ethinic groups think they own the place and can do whatever they want. I.e. border jumpers and thug trash.

What a great fun place to stay cool when the Florida is hot hot hot. One really nice thing about the water park is it is right across the street from Busch Gardens so you can choose which one to go to or in the case of my family the daughter went to Busch Gardens while me and the wife went to the water park........ Enjoy the lazy river and just float away the stress of life...... Oh and don't forget the decent BBQ at Duval street BBQ with the craft beers

If you can go to another waterpark please don't waste your money here.

The logistics for the rides line are mediocre and the employees are not helpful.

You will able to find more security personnel than actual employees helping.

Entrance to the park took almost 2 hours and was confusing. The employees were not helping and was up to the guest to actually guide other guest about where they were supposed to go.

Rides are okay but the long lines are not worthy. I totally recommend going to Aquatica or Disney's waterpark instead.

Ok place to take the kids but not a large water park. We went there because of taking advantage of Busch Gardens seasons pass. Comparing Aquatica to Adventure Islands, we will go to Aquatica in Orlando. We live the same distance to each and we just thought Aquatica was better, Adventure Island is not a bad place to go, just smaller for us.

Was very pleasantly surprised with this park. I hadn't been since I was young 30 years ago. I took my 7 and 10 year old, and this was the perfect day of fun for them. It wasn't too big, had plenty for both children to do, since they are different heights and likes. The park was very clean, and well maintained for its age. This will be our new go-to place for easily accessible, not over-crowded, nice family fun. I only had one complaint, and it is not really anyone's fault: the bridge over the lazy river by Colossal Curl slide is very hot on the feet. The gray artificial wood on the deck seems to absorb the sun and actually burns your feet. The brown artificial wood on the stairs of the bridge is fine, it's just that gray top deck, which is odd. But that's hardly a negative, and I would highly recommend this park for families .

About Busch Gardens Adventure island

Busch Gardens Adventure Island: Tampa's Premier Water Park

If you're looking for a fun-filled day in the sun, look no further than Busch Gardens Adventure Island. Located in Tampa, Florida, this water park is the perfect destination for families and thrill-seekers alike. With over 30 acres of water attractions to choose from, there's something for everyone at Adventure Island.

One of the biggest draws of Adventure Island is its wide variety of water slides. From high-speed drops to winding twists and turns, there are slides here that will satisfy even the most adventurous visitors. Some of the most popular slides include Colossal Curl, a four-person raft ride that takes riders through a series of twists and turns before dropping them into a massive funnel; Vanish Point, which features two drop slides that send riders plummeting down nearly vertical drops; and Wahoo Run, a family-friendly slide that winds through tunnels and around curves.

But it's not just about the big thrills at Adventure Island – there are plenty of attractions here for younger visitors as well. The park's Splash Attack area features smaller slides and interactive play areas designed specifically for kids under 54 inches tall. And if you're looking to relax after all that excitement, head over to Rambling Bayou – a lazy river where you can float along on an inner tube while taking in views of lush tropical foliage.

Of course, no trip to Adventure Island would be complete without sampling some delicious food and drinks. The park offers several dining options ranging from quick snacks like hot dogs and ice cream to full meals like burgers or pizza. And if you're looking for something refreshing on a hot day (which is pretty much every day in Florida), be sure to check out one of the many beverage stands scattered throughout the park.

But what really sets Busch Gardens Adventure Island apart from other water parks is its commitment to safety and cleanliness. The park has implemented several measures aimed at keeping guests safe during their visit including increased cleaning protocols throughout all areas of the park as well as social distancing guidelines on rides and attractions.

So whether you're visiting Tampa with your family or just looking for an exciting way to beat the heat this summer, be sure to add Busch Gardens Adventure Island to your itinerary! With its thrilling rides, kid-friendly attractions, delicious food options, and commitment towards safety measures - it’s definitely worth visiting!
