Bully's East Restaurant Review

Our waitress Daisy was wonderful, also she was extremely attentive, and always wanted to know if we had everything we needed.
The food was undercooked and although we were checked on it never seemed to be cooked right. Then at the end my wife ordered a nice shot of tequila (Don Julio Reposado, on the rocks) I was brought a 1942 Don Julio Anejo whick was double the price.
Tonight seemed like a night of errors by the restaurant. Again our waitress was awesome and very pleasant, but it would be quite a while before we'd even think about going back there again.

They were suppose to have great prime rib it was very dry. The halibut was frozen not fresh. The place is filthy, the carpet is so dirty I felt that I didn't want to walk on it with my shoes. There's more but that's enough to discourage anyone from going there.

Food and drinks were good Wasn't happy that they didn't take my gift certificate that just expired 6 days ago

The conversation at the adjacent table was atrocious

Went there on Valentine's day with no reservations. With my wife and daughter. I explained to the Manager (Peter) that I had no reservations, he said wait 5 min I'll clean a table at the bar. The service outstanding by all the employees, food was unbelievable. Great place!

I've been to this place now about 4 times. Again this is one of those ones that I think if you have a good waitress you're okay. The Kooks may have changed I do not know but the food has slid downhill a bit. I had the carne asada plate and I didn't even eat the meat because it did not taste right and I've had lots of carne asada plates.

Two thumbs up for this place. The service was friendly and sociable.

I really loved this place. I've had nothing but pleasant experiences here and plan to keep coming back. This place has an awesome atmosphere.

I went here on the recommendation of two locals. I don't know what they were thinking. The ceasar salad was wilted, yellow lettuce with a watery, very odd tasting dressing. The bread was a three flavor concoction that was something you might find at a funeral dinner at best. The steak was ok, nothing special. The mac and cheese was doused in pepper. Who does that? The service was adequate but I was seated by the kitchen so I heard all of the staff's conversations. The red velvet cheesecake was the only good thing there. I would not recommend.

You can't go wrong when you go to Bully's East. Always a great lunch or dinner. Try the prime rib French dip, amazing!

Cool atmosphere, great menu, and very respectful of covid safety. Wonderful transition to their outdoor set up.

Bully's east. It's just as amazing as it was the first time I went there 19 years ago. Been coming here for almost 20 years. Everything is always cooked to perfection. Thank you! Going strong.

3rd visit. Great cocktails. Bartender was great. The cocktail sauce tasted a bit off, ordered the jumbo prawns. The salad was good. The horseradish crusted prime rib was awesome!

Service was great. Ordered prime rib with baked potato. Always have raved that Bullys has the best prime rib. It was fatty and just warm. Baked potato was day old and cold. Step it up Bullys!

Poor service... not very crowded. No plates for the appetizers... no condiments for the burgers... no refills on my water or asked if I like another beer? Been there 12 times never had a bad meal or bad service... tried many different dishes, with no complaints.... but will never.... have a hamburger here again!

Nice atmosphere, disappointing meal. I don't think many people order the Sauerbraten, because the meat was on the edge of going bad.

Worst service ever. Was not offered a menu. I had a hair in my drink and the waitress Jeanie was very rude about it. Starting it was not her"s. She was very sarcastic and never acknowledged us again. I'll NEVER go back!!!

Love this place. I had clam chowder tonight and it was only average, sorry to say. Go with the French onion on Fridays.

Well been going for years...today it was difficult yo get anyone to wait on us. So we left enough money for our 2 beers and left...

Amazing food, great customer service, love this place!!!

Not impressed. Food was well below par. Saurbraut tasted like ginger and garlic potatoes tasted like salmon. Place smelled like urine and uncleaned bathroom. Draft beer included 6 beers including Bud, Bud Light, etc. Only salvation was the half price wine special.

16 oz ribeye was great! Next time it's prime rib for me! Pete is a friendly manager. Service is great. Thanks bully's!

I've been hitting this place for years. Great food, great people, super casual and welcoming. Definitely recommend for a quality dinner at decent prices. Probably best value in San Diego for steak.

Our first visit. Great atmosphere and service. Prime rib was absolutely delicious. Can hardly wait to visit again.

My husband and I ate dinner at Bully's this evening and it was horrible. I ordered a Bistro Salad with grilled chicken and it did not say on the menu that the salad had grilled onion and grilled peppers on it. I told the server, but she did not seem to care, just asked me if I wanted a box and she even acknowledged that the menu does not say grilled peppers and onion. It was like having a chicken fajita on a bed of lettuce, absolutely horrible. My husband had the full prime rib and there was so much gristle on it, I will never eat here again as there are far too many other places in San Diego to dine.

Was a busy Friday night; First time here. Had to send the prime rib back as was not cooked as requested. Still, was just ok. Ribs were good. BBQ sauce is outstanding. 7 oz steak was ok.
Smoke house off Lake Murray much better steak and prices. Portions do not match prices. Won't be back.

I really wanted to like this place after hearing good things but the prime rib was incredibly disappointing. Way way too dry and not good quality for the price.

Food wasn't good and drinks were kind of not what we expected. Service was ok, but they have a 3 percent surcharge on the bill so be aware of that. Just not as good as some reviews would have you believe.

Excellent food and service. A little pricey though. Try their happy hour.

Best clam chowder I have ever had, great sandwich and butternut squash ravioli!!

I love their prime rib! It melts in your mouth. And my next favorite are their brussel sprouts - yummy!

Great "old school " San Diego institution for drinks and dinning

This is a classic old place that serves great up to date dishes that are very good. Service is outstanding

Good food, but our waitress wasn't to informative on the food they serve and always forgot about us. We had to get up and refill our own water and then when she was off work the lady that took over for her was not friendly at all. We had a hard time even ordering food and drinks for other friends that joined us.
I'm giving it 2 stars because of its service .

Employees are friendly, the food was really really bad, I ordered the hamburger and soup, the onion soup was good, I took the hamburgr home, what was supposed to be medium turned out to be a dry slab of charcoal, couldnt believe someone actually looked at it and decided it was good enough to box it to go!!!!

Great food ... Great people! Prime rib was top notch.

Would of given 5 stars for the food but the last 5 times we've been there it seems like the employees are not trained enough.. lags on water refills, forgetting to bring our bread. Lagging on our order so we couldn't get the french onion soup because they dump it out at 9:45. We placed our order by 9:30.. will continue to go there because we love their prime rib.

Longhorn makes better steaks, sides are good. They are not following Covid guidelines though, people are dining inside.

Great service and staffs are nice its relax for us.. Clean and manager have good knowledge. . Nice bar...
