Bully's East Restaurant Review

You will notice if you follow my reviews that the overwhelming majority are positive because it takes quite a bit for me to return from a meal and still feel motivated to write a negative review. Bully's East deserves a negative review.. they earned it. Across the board the place has gone down hill and my recent visit last night will be my last. Service, quality, cleanliness.. I never usually mention cleanliness, I love TJ street tacos btw.. but this spot has become down right gross.. wander out the back of the building and notice the general condition and residual scum lingering around the kitchen.. not okay.. You can actually taste the lack of care that goes into your meal here.

This place is really cool. Has a local feel and cool ambiance. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I had the best cob salad I have ever had. Very good! Will be returning for sure.

Wonderful dining experience. Perfect for a cocktails, appetizers and sports viewing in the bar.

World class prime rib in the dining room! A must taste for any fan of steak!!!

Prime rib sandwich was delicious. And the red velvet cheesecake is the best.

Great atmosphere! Always great service and attentive to get you squared away so you can sit and relax! Food gets served, then I m always asked what I may need(so I can enjoy my meal)! Great Prime rib but wish there was more 6-8oz servings. They will also make your veggies clean if you ask. Pete the manager is great!

I've been going to Belize restaurant for probably 20 years and obviously I've loved it I always go for the prime rib because that's what they're are famous for I used to pay $13 for a 8 oz piece of prime rib which came with a baked potato a vegetable and a salad I haven't been there in years and I was in the area not long ago so I stopped in and I paid $25 for the same prime rib though times grow and the economy changes I thought that was extremely pricey for the exact same meet I was paying a few years ago

It was the best prime rib we have ever had! I wish I had remembered to take a picture before it was almost gone. The server was friendly and efficient. It was a great experience. We will be going back when we are in San Diego again!

Service was good but, for a "sports bar", they had problems finding the 7th game of the NLDS and Sunday night football game. Also no sound for the game. The food was bland and they attempted to charge us $30 for a tequila shot. Ultimately reduced that price but I wouldn't recommend.

Service was quick and friendly. Food was disappointing especially for the price, prime was room temperature and flavorless, mac n cheese was also flavorless, new New York cut was hot and flavorful but so tough could hardly cut it with the stake knife. Next time I'll spend the same hundred dollars at the store and enjoy the meal MUCH more!

This place used to be great. Unfortunately it appears now they are on the verge of going out of business and don't care about quality. I made dinner reservations for my family and saw they had a brunch menu. My wife and I decided to try it before the dinner. It wasn't a good idea. My wife has been in the industry for a long time and runs several restaurants in San Diego. She noticed the country potatoes were reheated from probably the day before and were soggy and disgusting. I ordered the breakfast burrito which consisted of the same potatoes and bits of ham and undercooked eggs. The hash browns were barely cooked and cold inside as if they just came out of a freezer. I took two bites of each and couldn't bring myself to do a third bite...gross. I also found it funny that I asked for salsa when my burrito arrived and the waitress told me they don't have any....... seriously, serving Mexican food and don't have salsa?

We thought brunch was a fluke and kept our dinner reservation..... horrible mistake. There were 8 of us and only two reported their meal was good. From soggy fries to very undercooked and overcooked meat to bland food, the the meal was horrible. I should hav ed know when we sat down at our table and the manager was apologizing to another couple for their food. I told the manager of the issues and he said he would take care of it but is obviously out of his league in a restaurant as his cure was to take my wife's steak back to the kitchen scrape of the toppings (sauce and glaze) and reheat. When it returned, the piece she cut off was laying there showing it was just reheated (this kills the taste of steak). I decided to just send my extremely well done burger back and went without. The manager never returned to our table to see how the second meals turned out but told the waitress to tell us we were not going to be charged for the burger or a "second" steak. OMG this place has fallen. I would recommend finding a different spot as they appear to be just waiting to go out of business.

If you're coming here and expecting Fleming's, Morton's, Donovan's Steakhouse quality, you're in the wrong place. The food here was good, I wouldn't call it great, and I wouldn't call it bad or poor, just good. The service was excellent, the waitress was very attentive even though she was being run ragged the whole evening. I think the best place this thing has going for it is the sports bar and atmosphere. If you're looking to come to a place, have some good drinks (albeit a bit overpriced) and watch your favorite football teams; this is the right place to go.

Long time San Diego restaurant. Clubman's atmospheric combined with a Spots Bar. Steaks & Prime Rib, with other selections on the menu.

We always have the Bully burgers. The new outdoor dining is delightful !

A classic. Went Monday night with my wife and in laws. The 11 dollar bully burger special is on point. Burgers cooked perfectly and great service. Highly recommend

I liked the French onion soup and the burger. Didn't try the steak this time.

Longhorn makes better steaks, sides are good. They are not following Covid guidelines though, people are dining inside.

BULLY'S EAST HAS BEEN ONE OF MY FAVORITE SPOTS IN SAN DIEGO FOR 20 YEARS,! GO THERE AND ORDER THE BULLY BURGER WITH BAKED POTATO AND ENJOY FRIENDS AND COMPANY.

Great place to relax and unwind and get something to eat and a soda pop!

The inside of the this place is exactly what you think it is from the exterior, an old school steak house. I can only imagine opening the doors to this establishment in the 80's and the cigarette smoke just piling out of this place.

Went here for lunch and everyone in my group enjoyed the meal. A bit of an older crowd, as expected at a place like this. I'd definitely go here again.

Great food, good choice of draft beer. Very good food specials. Service normally very good. Service not so good tonight.

Love this place. I had clam chowder tonight and it was only average, sorry to say. Go with the French onion on Fridays.

Came to celebrate my bestie's B-day. There were 3 of us. The dinner was delicious. I had the Seabass Almondine. I definitely will be back and will also recommend to my friends the great food, atmosphere and excellent service.

My steak & service was great, however a member of our party ordered a filet & recieved a sirloin cook well beyond her liking. She questioned it & was told it was a filet (come on they look totally different). When she took a bite & decided she couldnt eat it, the GM told her she was wrong, it was a filet & cooked medium as she requested - he said "it was perfect". They made a new steak, which did come out perfect, just a shame it was after everyone else finished thier meals. The GM made no apologies, comps or discounts - in fact told another member of our party, in an annoyed voice, I lost a steak tonight. I'm sorry Bullys, i love you and have been coming to this location for 15 years - you lost a whole lot more than 1 steak that night!!!!!

Amazing atmosphere! the staff make this place feel welcoming and amazing. the steak is cook perfectly and the burger is good too!

Choose your steak wisely. Do not get the flat iron. Better choices are ny strip or tri-tip. Bar and tv monitors usually all in sports channels.

I've been hitting this place for years. Great food, great people, super casual and welcoming. Definitely recommend for a quality dinner at decent prices. Probably best value in San Diego for steak.

An excellent old school restaurant in San Diego been around since time and memorial. Excellent for business lunches, excellent all the time.

The food was absolutely AMAZING, my waitress was such a sweetheart! The Creme Brule is TO DIE FOR! I cannot wait to go back for more!

Poor service... not very crowded. No plates for the appetizers... no condiments for the burgers... no refills on my water or asked if I like another beer? Been there 12 times never had a bad meal or bad service... tried many different dishes, with no complaints.... but will never.... have a hamburger here again!

Double check your check and count your change. I've been a patron for 25+ years and I will never go back. Yes they have great overpriced beef, probable some of the best in San Diego. Yet some of their wait staff are corrupt, over charging then not giving a bill or correct change. I've been ripped off twice in a row, now, in 2 months. I know there are honest mistakes, but fool me twice? I won't be back.

The atmosphere is classic. The price is GREAT for what you get. Ask for the prime bits off menu!

The only thing keeping this place from five stars are their cocktails. I do think they are kind of lacking in comparison to other places in the vicinity (Wood Ranch). Aside from that, this place is terrific. Great staff and the pear and basil flatbread is incredible!

Friendly waitress but service was slow and it didnt seem that busy. I had a salad and it was pretty ordinary. Not sure I'd go nack there again.

Anyone from San Diego knows how just amazing this place is. May they be able to open back up soon. I hope they leave the tents out front forever. It's great dining out doors !

For many years this has been my favorite prime rib bistro ristorante. My meal was excellent and we all had a great time.

Nice place. Great central location and pretty good looking lunch offers. I've only been in the afternoon and the crowd is biz lunch so the vibe is good.

This place is great, the service is excellent, the food is delicious, and the ambiance is relaxed with a vintage pub feel with low lighting. It is also a sports bar so there are plenty of TVs around, but they are not overwhelming. The steaks are fantastic! Quality cuts and not cheap, however you are getting quality meat so it's a great treat.. They are known for their prime rib, I've never had it, but I am sure it is delicious as all the food I have ever eaten there has been on point.

Their happy hour deals are truly epic, an extensive array of very delicious and well portioned servings, that are essentially half price 4pm to 6pm Mon thru Friday.

Their Kung Pau chicken wings are one of my favorites.

A San Diego staple. been coming here for over a 2 decades!. High back booths for privacy open bar with top shelf and great San Diego decor all over. Lots of fun days after the football or baseball games. A ribeye steak with sauteed mushrooms , baked potato and asparagus my go to.

This place is absolutely outstanding. Quick and friendly service. Not close to my job, I wish it was.

We came here to celebrate our friends birthday. The server and food were great. They did forget to bring my mac and cheese though. I ordered the Prime Rib Sandwhich and my wife had the full rack of ribs. The ribs were tender and fell off the bone. The Prime Rib was also very delicious.

This place is a DIVE. The food is good, the drinks are reasonable, and the staff is fantastic. It's a great place to go for a casual dinner. Be warned: there is no AC (or maybe it was just broken).

Good food. Great service, and the ambiance was nice too. We'll be eating there again soon.
