Two great tours: Trace tour and old Taylor tour. Both explain different aspects of the history of the distillery. At the end, a tasting of some of their products is offered along with a must visit to the gift shop.

The greeter, a young man with straight shaggy hair, was very rude and mean to the guests as they arrived. He was taking everyone's temperatures and yelling at people. Not a nice way to kick off a visit at such a beautiful distillery.

My new favorite bourbon. Better than others I've had at twice the price. You can smell the carmel and toffee notes and maybe even some orange zest. When sipping straight, there is an initial sweetness on the tongue then the flavor opens up to creamy toffee, cinnamon, and hints of oak and leather. A subtle burn occurs but doesn't linger. It's not astringent at all like some other inexpensive whiskeys I've tried. I don't consider myself an expert but I couldn't see anyone not enjoying this bourbon.

The family and I had a great time. My 10 y/o daughter enjoyed herself and found it to be very entertaining. Very informative and lots to see, and the gift shop offers goodies for everyone. Blanton's $60, Buffalo Trace $26 and $47, Col. E.H. Taylor $43.

We did the hard hat tour, which at no cost, was amazing. Make sure you register a couples in advance as the tours fill up but it's well with the trip to Frankfort.

Some really cool experiences and I never knew watching barrels roll would be so pleasant.

This is the best distillery in the US. Friendly atmosphere, free tours with several different tour options, oozes history. They also happen to be making some of the highest rated Bourbons on the planet right now (Eagle Rare, Blanton's, Pappy Van Winkle, Weller, Taylor ... ) Nice gift shop with a great selection of quality gifts. This is my benchmark for Bourbon tours, and I've seen them all. If you're looking to learn about one of Kentucky's signature products, this is the spot.

Best distillery I have been to yet! Our tour guide, Mr. David, was very nice and extremely funny. The "Trace Tour", which was FREE, was about an hour long, informational tour that took us around the front buildings explaining the history and to one of the many Rickhouses. Afterwards, we had a Burbon tasting and if you had little ones with you, they got root beer. Once again, it was all FREE. There are other tours they offer but if you want a simple informational tour, this one is the one for you.

Wonderful experience! Our group had a great time and learned so much. Many thanks to Jeff for the excellent tour. We loved having you for our tour guide and "bartender". You represented Buffalo Trace very well. They should give you a raise!

Buffalo Trace easily accomodated our group of 25+. After a simple call a few weeks ahead, our reservation was made. Smiling faces and wrist bands awaited us at arrival, and our private tour was thorough. They even waited 15 minutes to start the tour after one of our car groups got lost. The tasting provided variety and it was all free!

Pretty good tour, though the hard hat was shut down, so that was kind of a bummer. Having been to Maker's Mark and seeing the mash in action, I was a little disappointed that mostly we got to see nothing in action. Still, it was definitely worth the trip.

My husband and I went on the Bourbon Barrel Tour with Freddie as the start to our Bourbon Trail vacation. This has hands down been one of my favorite tours. Freddie provided a wonderful tasting experience with insights on how to truly enjoy bourbon from the perspective of a third-generation distillery worker. Buffalo Trace has so many tours to choose from that teach about the history of the distillery and bourbon in general.

Couldn't book a tour but managed to go to the gift shop. Happy I did. Got a bottle of Blantons, Eagle Rare and Buffalo Trace, along with a face mask. They have lots of shirts with some only in remaining sizes S or 3X. Nice selection of merchandise. 3 friendly cashiers. Worth the trip if you love bourbon.

It has been a couple of years since I have had a chance to visit. In that time there have been many awesome improvements to their campus. The layout and look of the gift shop really jumps out. Be sure to take a stroll thru their gardens. It was not obvious to me that it was there but was pointed in that direction for some nice pictures. Highly recommend this FREE tour.

We went to the Buffalo Trace Distillery for a Halloween event they were having called disturbia at the distillery. For the price, the event was very underwhelming. The event space was set up nicely and decorated appropriately for the event, however the 4 course meal with bourbon pairings turned out to be a chicken dinner like I would expect from Cracker Barrel and bourbon tasting s of their lower end brands the same that I received with the tour earlier. The tour of the distillery was great, unlike the polished appearance of a lot of the newer distilleries, Buffalo Trace looked like people actually worked there and had been making fine bourbon for decades. The tour guides were fabulous and very knowledgeable. The gift shop was also very nice.

Awesome tour with free tastings at the end. Our tour guide, Freddie, was very charismatic and enthusiastic. This tour gave me such a new appreciation for bourbon and the distilling process. My husband looks for Buffalo Trace wherever we go now. Just go. Go right now. You will not regret it!

Undoubtably the most under rated bourbon on the market. We took the tour there last spring and loved it.
The guides were very informitive. Explained the distillin process very clear and answered all questions completely. The tour started with a video giving the history of Bourbon Trace Distillery the evolution of bourbon and the aging process.
It was interesting to walk through and see the barrels upon barrels being aged to perfection and learn the effects of the oak barrels.
There is a taste testing at the end of the tour and a gift shop offering very unique company merchandise.
You are able to buy bottles of Buffalo Trace onsite. We purchased a bourbon creme that enjoyed really well in coffee and ice cream as well. The Buffalo Trace signiture blend Eagle Rare is a new favorite and without a doubt the smoothest I've ever had.

The culmination of the oldest distillery, national land mark, and winner of the most medals for bourbon, makes this a must see destination. The tour is completely free, along with the tasting at the end. See the bourbon barrels up close while learning about the history of this ancient distillery and how it came to become a leader of the Kentucky whisky.

The visit to Buffalo Trace was excellent. Everyone I met was incredibly nice and helpful.
I highly recommend the tour which does a great job of describing the history of the distillery and also the delicate process of barrel aging.

I'm going to start with the one thing we didn't like. The ghost tour was terrible. Super hokey "so and so swears they saw this" type stories. Besides that though the rest of our visit was AMAZING! Highly recommend the hard Hard Hat tour. Though be warned of you're afraid of heights you might want to pass.

I'm not even a bourbon drinker and I really enjoyed this tour. Loved the behind the scenes look into the production; the rich history; and YES, the tasting! I would not only recommend the tour, but if I'm in the area again, I will go back!

Was referred to this establishment today after completing a job with the guard today. Fantastic tour. My tour guide (Bob) was very knowledgeable on the bourbon lifecycle, and provide a lot of history of boybon during tour. Great staff.

Logan Haines is a fantastic tour guide. He imparted a tremendous amount of knowledge in humorous way. We enjoyed that the tasting options included bourbon creme. Highly recommend this tour. Only disappointment was the limited alcohol options in the shop.

The tour was fascinating and it was a real treat to see how the bourbon is made and stored. The tour was free and at the end everyone gets to do a tasting of two options. The bourbon is smooth and delightful. You also end up at the gift shop and there were so many cool items to browse. My girlfriend and I walked out with a novelty glass and a plushie bison. I'm a sucker for plushies!

Buffalo Trace Distillery is located in Frankfort, Kentucky and is home to more bourbons than I m likely to ever sample. And some of those bourbons are the stuff of legend (I m thinking about Pappy Van Winkle here). But even those that don t have quite as much legend behind them are top picks for many of us. We were able to sample some unique and interesting spirits during our visit, but the tasting was second to our visit with master distiller Harlan Wheatley and our tour lead by Kristie Wooldridge.

This was not only my favorite bourbon tour, it has become my go to bourbon. Forgive my bias. The corny promotional video at the beginning of the tour took me back to the old US government monument films. I did the entire Bourbon Trail and hit up Buffalo Trace on the recommendation of another distillery's employee (when I went Buffalo Trace wasn't part of the trail yet). The one site store house is amazing and smells of heaven. I was impressed that it was designed to be unloaded by only two people. If you're in Kentucky having bourbon, don't miss out on this one.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Freddie who is a third generation employee. The distillery and grounds literally drip with Americana and you can feel the history in every building. We came for Blanton's, which does have a purchase limit of one bottle per person, but we found their other products equally delightful. We would absolutely return.

Buffalo is the right kind of Kentucky bourbon. its not too strong, sweet, or bitter. its smooth and tastes fantastic. I have recommended Buffalo Trace to many friends and most of have been very satisfied. Buffalo Trace, keep it up, your my top whiskey in my book.

I have toured a dozen different Distilleries and this Distillery has a lot of rich history. The visitors venue was the most unorganized and poorly stocked one I have visited. They were out of stock on the best Spirits they make and suggested we go to a local liquor store to purchase even thought they were packaging it next door ! Disappointed !

Buffalo Trace is worth a visit. The oldest continuous Bourbon Distillery in the United States! This tour is highly informative and covers everything from their name sake, Buffalo Trace to the elusive Pappy Van Winkle brands.

Call ahead to book your tour and note that the tour includes two different whiskeys to taste, their bourbon creme, and of course, some delicious bourbon balls.

They do not carry enough whiskey in gift shop and run out daily. They have trucks full of it and brag about doing a million barrels in 4 years, but won't allocate enough bottles so everyone on the tours can buy one. They run out EVERY DAY, this is a known problem and a choice they have made. People spend time and money to go there and are routinely disappointed because they can't leave with a bottle. I know we were. Really ruined the whole experience.

Tour was decent, product is good.

This was an awesome experience. We went on the "regular" tour and Rick was our tour guide (super sweet guy.) Rick was super knowledgeable about the history of the distillery and was a lot of fun to be around. Would definitely recommend coming here!

I and my family took a tour with Freddie and he left no stone unturned. Finding out that every item is used and nothing is wasted. To leave and then purchase Buffalo trace made the tour special and to understand that much care is taken to make great products. Thanks Freddie, you made the tour a true success.

Really enjoyed.
