I was there last week twice Monday and again Thursday,on Thursday we ate The food was great, reasonably priced music was also very good and the real bonus was we got to see Buddy and take pictures and chat it was Great....
Laid back local spot a few blocks away from the intensity of the downtown core. Matt Hendricks gave a quality performance, and the chicken jambalaya was spicy yet satisfying. Huit/dix (Please note: an automatic 18% gratuity is added for groups of 5 or more people)
Came as a group and they wouldn't let us move any tables together. When it started to get late, they asked us to pay a sizeable cover or we would have to leave. They are totally within their right to do that, but I am also within my right to be annoyed by it. The waitress was unfriendly, the drinks were mediocre, and the food was nothing special. Most of the appetizers tasted like they came right out of the microwave. It's a cool space for music, but nothing else.
Good musicians, and Buddy Guy himself is one of the best in the world, but the place has something of a sterile, corporate feel.
Food was good proposition. Was so hot and spicy didn't even eat it. 46$ down the drain and had to call and order a pizza.
Loved the atmosphere and history! Live music was great, friendly staff. I had the red white and blu chicken sandwich and it was amazing! Definitely recommend!
The true legend Buddy s family own restaurant. Great place for live blues shows. Nice decor and good food. Come and see Buddy s Grammys!
Very good place, to listen great music!!! Eat a drink some beers. Excellent!!!
Corn bread. Jambalaya. Beer. Live music that is free early. Cover charge for second group starting at 830pm. No rush to clear tables. No pressure on patrons to leave to get more people in. Sit with friends. Enjoy the music and the food. I visited twice in 3 days while in Chicago. Two thumbs up.
It was good experience and worth time listening the music there.
Food was good. Customer service was absolutely horrible.
Great Music, very friendly, but the Old Fashioned was only Ok, sugar water vs. Simple Syrup:(
I love this place, come here every time I'm in Chicago. Great vive, great music, fantastic people and decent food.
I know this place is touristy but I still like it. You will never be disappointed at the quality of music you will find here. I love that they put together bands on the spot made up for people that have never met one another before. If you are not careful you can run up quite the drink bill here but it's probably worth it. This place really is a great time.
Went here to see Buddy Guy. We got there early so we had great seats. We had dinner there. Some type of pulled pork which I thought was great. Oh course, Buddy Guy was awesome. I am so glad we got to see him.
Loved the music and atmosphere. I was not a fan of the guy in the bathroom asking for tips for giving me soap and a paper towel.
BBQ ribs were quite good. But of course, the best part was the music later in the evening. Dinner at 7:30, main act started at 9:30-10 pm and then Buddy Guy walks up on stage around 11:15 to close out the first set! Great evening!
I was not there for the music so that might make the whole experience better. I was with a large group so we had a buffet for dinner and what I did have was delicious but there was not a lot of variety.
It may depend on the day of the week, but the main concert will need to be charged from 8:00. Until then, the undercard live starts at 7 o'clock. I started early, but the live performance of the undercard was also high enough and I was very satisfied.
Simply blues at its best. Great place for youths to experience yesteryear music with today's relevance.
Very nice place, incredible musicians. There is a 10$ fee to enter the place. We arrived an hour before the show started to make sure we would have a place, because we did not buy our tickets online. Alcohol is cheaper than other bars we visited. We stayed there until 1am. Place was packed. Good memories of a place visited by so many legendary musicians. Highly recommended it! Enjoy the show and the dance floor :)
Intimate venue. Great music. Made connections with new friends, recommended
Went on a Sunday night and the place rocked until 2am. Loved it
really cool jazz a club & bar, there is free concerts but the main acts require a ticket. food is also served.
Anyone who loves blues like me knows it's the source!
Aptly named, Chicago's own musical legend does a juke joint Chicago style. The menu is just so down home and bluesy, the big room atmosphere makes you feel like home, and the art + unique memorabilia is fascinating. One of the coolest joints in Chicago! And those January Buddy Guy shows are unforgettable.
5 star to see buddy guy on the first time we visited this place. Unfortunately they were full.
The guy at the front was rude!!! Didn't even feel like going inside to this place!!! Just after few questions he started yelling at us...
Absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere of the club is contagious...the band(s) had/ has the high energy which draws the crowd in. Loved it. Fantabulous time, would definitely recommend
Without a doubt, Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago is the premier Blues Club in the world. A heavy boast, but where else will you see the man himself hopping onstage with the evening's band, belt out a few numbers and share a few fascinating stories of his storied career ??? The club features a who's who of LIVE MUSIC talent seven days a week including a dinner set where patrons can enjoy some of the finest Louisiana cuisine to be found in the Windy City. Coupled with a family friendly atmosphere and walls lined with Blues History and treasures, a visit to Buddy Guy's Legends should be a number one priority when visiting Chicago !!!!
Great atmosphere, music, beer and food :) Fantastic plan if you are visiting Chicago. Close to the tower willis and the millenium park
Always visiting when in Chicago. Great music and food; great welcoming atmosphere. Just what a stressed out New Yorker needs.
A great way to spend a couple of hours. Thanks for allowing under-21's before 8pm. It made my son's day.
Cool place to see some live music and grab a drink!
This place is a must go to if you never have been there.
Love, love, love it here! Chicago is known for its blues history so it's only appropriate that Buddy Guy's is a city landmark that always packs in the fun. There haven't been much if any renovations to this location so it definitely shows its age and wear and tear. You can't anticipate a swanky blues bar. This is a bare bones, no frills place that knows two things - good music and good food. And for those two things, it surely delivers. The southern style soul food is a perfect companion to the soul-soothing tunes. Fabulous tidbits of music history line the painted brick walls. So when you have been standing for a while (since tables are few and hard to get), it is interesting to have a walk around to see a few historical treasures that call Buddy Guy's home. I was under the impression that after so many years at this location, Buddy Guys will be closing. I don't necessarily know the details behind this or if it's being rebuilt or moved elsewhere, but it will be a sad day when or if such a Chicago gem closes its doors.
Packed. Get there early or you'll be standing it stuck upstairs watching a video feed. Good vibe though and food was tasty too
I was totally blown away! Had the privilege of seeing Nora Jean...amazing! Music beyond words...the food was first rate as well! Can't wait to go back...long way from the UK !
The food and entertainment are great. The atmosphere is casual, and the service is good.
Wow what a great place for our organizational retreat
There was Buddy Guy and we got autographed photo and poster. He was very kind! An excellent place to listen to good music.
I was told this is the place for R&B. Went looked up and read about Mr. GUY. I SEE HE'S A LOUISIANAN. AM FROM SHREVEPORT MOVED TO CHICAGO JULY 5 I WILL GET TO BUDDY GUY'S VERY SOON SAVE A DANCE FOR ME
Found by chance with warm-up act Eric Hendricks showing off several guitar styles ... Finger picking, strumming chords, more. A great depth of awareness of the history of his craft. Sadly no CD of his performance available The main act was Jimmy Johnson. All I can say is: to he left the house howling for more. _Then_ Buddy Guy provided vocals and narrative, which pulled the crowd out on to the dance floor All that before the intermission A wonderful evening
Magic place of blues wuaaaa Chicago is your house live instrumental music
Excellent music while enjoying live music. Great variety of beers. It has a very interesting collection of exposed guitars. Very clean toilets.
Passionate about music and blues ... don't forget to visit this magical place. If you are also lucky enough to pass by Mr. Buddy Guy ... it may be the night of your life. We arrived without expecting to see him and we found him flushing at just over twenty spectators chanting and shouting "Oh, yeah ... !!!" I do not advance more. Just do not miss it.
Great music, great beer. The fact that you need to stand up and still pay full price is a bit weird. Also, personal a bit rude. Other than this, would recommend because of the artists performance are truly, legendary.
Stumbled in for the house band and some gumbo... Will go back
Great Good, excellent music & a good introduction to Chicago Blues music!
Mythical the best enchanting local and blus music, absolutely to attend
Very cool! Beautiful band curation, with a good choice of drinks and plenty of seating.
Nice blues and delicious plates, besides reasonable price!
Great blues club. Sadly not the original place, but the food is good and the music is always excellent.
The best of the blues await you in this fuss-free, soulful hotspot. We were thoroughly entertained by the talented lineup of musicians, and we enjoyed the night while snacking on amazing soul food. We were also lucky enough to see a performance by the living legend himself, Buddy Guy. Whether you're a fan of the blues or not, your visit to Chicago won't be complete without a night in this place.
This is a must destination for visitors and locals. The food is good and the entertainment is superb. Plenty of friendly people. The only down side is it is popular and can get packed at times so if you want a seat for some of the top entertainment get there early. They are as accommodating as what they can possibly be, but you should have a plan. I suggest checking it out during the day or a time when you know it is not real busy so you can have an idea before seeing a big name act, but well worth it and so much fun.
Blues, Beer and Buddy... The perfect Palace to relax and groove in Chicago!
You can enjoy wonderful live performances and delicious food
Go for the show, not the food! The food was horribly disgusting. I should have sent it back. I ordered the gumbo, and it tasted like a can of tomato abc soup. No lie, it tasted like a can of tomato soup mixed with frozen vegetables. I lived in Louisiana for some time, so I know what gumbo is supposed to taste like. There was no spice, no flavor, no pizzaz. I don't know what the table beside us ordered, but I know they did send it back.
Got there 2 hours before the show. Standing room only. We were told we could eat upstairs and come back down and pick a place in a cordoned off area to stand. Upstairs is a bleak, sparse depressing place. We felt like unwanted guests at a party. Food was just ok. Mediocre fries, ok burgers, overcooked salmon, but it wasn't dry because it was drenched in butter. They even give you a little plastic container of extra melted butter. I was surprised to get that because I got the feeling that if they could have figured out a way to charge extra for mustard and ketchup, they would have. No bread or corn bread with your meal. You have to pay extra for that. Undercooked, twigs of green beans in a very tasty tomato celery sauce came with the fish, along with garlic mash that could have used more garlic. The sound coming from the very poor quality, unwatchable screen showing downstairs activity was set at a deafening level, making conversation difficult unless you like screaming at each other while eating. We went downstairs for the show and found a really great view in the cold and drafty standing section in front of the emergency exit doors. Buddy Guy and his opener, Linsey Alexander are truly the best blues musicians in the world, but after standing for four and a half hours at the end of the show we were more tired than inspired.
Great music...great atmosphere....great food. What more can you want?
I'm not a jazz fan in particular but if you are, you'll love this place!
Rica the. Food good price and in excellent atmosphere
Good entertainment my friend buddy was in attendance
The place where locals go for Chicago Blues. Thursday night though the Majority of the crowd were from other Countries!! And we we're Rockin!
Great place, better music but terrible service... Rude waiters. I would recomend any other blues bar (there are tons here in chicago). Save yourself from a overpriced cover and bad service
Great Staff and service, enjoyed our exchange. We'll be back.
Owners very family oriented. Loved every moment from the second we walked in to the second we left. Thank you for your hospitality.
Good music, the food, so regular, but the atmosphere is worth it.
The music was cool. Beer was cold. Buddy Guy was sitting at the bar and signed t shirts for us.
