A fun, hoppin' spot in Cannery Row that's especially cool in that this was the first ever Bubba Gump restaurant, opening over two decades ago.

Of the couple Bubba Gump locations I've been to around the U.S., this one is one of the best fits of the movie theme, with the natural gorgeous backdrop of Monterey Bay straight out the window instead of a Hollywood set.

The decor is as true to movie as it can be, including props from Forrest Gump hidden among the dockside decor. Service is pretty efficient for the long-lined tourist favorite that it is and staff are on the ball and friendly.

Of course when in Gump, do as the Gumps and order shrimp. The Shrimp Heaven is a meal in itself and you get access to a few of the shrimp styles on the list Bubba rattled off to Forrest: fried shrimp and grilled shrimp among others plus tempera shrimp. (And if it's been a while since you saw the film, the entire list is painted onto wooden planks on the wall).

One of the most immersive and fun experiences of all the Bubba Gumps out there.

Stopped here because of all the great reviews, very disappointed. Dry steak (we fed it to a homeless ladys pitbull behind Cannery Row) husbands shrimp were cold to the touch and food was way greasy... My food was good and the manager ended yp taking his dinner off our bill. We deffinately wont go back. The best service and food we had was at Cocos on Davis Street the entire time we were down there. Our server there was Johna. I wrote her a great review and also called her store manager to let them know we appreciated her service :)

My experience so far has been terrible. I have been trying to get a reservation for a month now and it's nearly impossible. I call the night before and they wont accept my reservation. I call this next morning and they dont answer several times. I call in the afternoon and they say they are full and tell me to call in the morning, but they are accepting walk-ins, but walk ins have to wait for over an hour. This is the worst customer service I have ever seen. I usually don't even care to make a comment, but this is ridiculous. It's easier to get a reservation anywhere else on cannery row.

Food portion is a bit on smaller side and price is on higher side as expected. But still it is a decent place to take a family if you want some shrimp.

Love the food and staff is always very nice. High price so I can't go as much as I would like. To bad you have to pay for parking. But all and all love it.always a long wait. Call first to be put on the call list you get right on that way...

Delicious food! Great service. Was very crowded but I was expecting that going during the summer in a tourist area. Very satisfied

This is my absolute favorite sea food place. Love Jenny's catch and Cajun shrimps. The overall vive is great, especially if you love the movie Forrest Gump as this is based on the movie.

30min wait to be sat, then once we were, we noticed half the restaurant was empty. Ordered happy hour drinks and they were very sugary and watered down. couldn't taste and alcohol in any of the four different drinks. Service was incredibly slow to boot.

The restaurant is a tradition for us to come to when in Monterey Bay. Nearly anywhere you sit in the restaurant gives you a nice scenic view of the Bay. You can see people kayaking or boats floating out to see. The wait to be seated can be from 30 mins and up, but they have a good system to keep you informed when you are ready to be seated. And they do this by text system, first an initial text to confirm your provided number, and then up to two texts when they reach out to you for seating. Children are given a coloring sheet with sea creatures, and 4 Crayola crayons packed in plastic sleeves. Food choices hardly change out, so you can develop a favorite list as you come back. Service is friendly and fun, as they use the Forest Gump theme through the restaurant. Parking for any store or restaurant down Cannery Row is all in nearby parking garages. One we parked at was $18 for the whole day, no hourly option. No valet service that I can recall. As you wait, you can stay busy by wondering the shops nearby and really let time fly as you wait for the text. A good place to bring kids.

It was ok for the most part but took a long time to get are food and food was not what I ordered the fish was in pieces when I got it and the rice was really sticky and clumping up and when we were seated we noticed that people who arrived after us were getting there food before us we ordered bread but didn't get it and we waited a long time just to be told they didn't have any, I hope they work on there food better and work on quality.

Food was good given it's a chain restaurant. The waiter was excellent. We had a great time with him playing Forest Gump trivia.

Long wait then the fish and chips was raw dough. Ugh. I had a rotten piece of lemon in my water. No attempt to make this right. Disappointed to the max. We will never return.

Fun, silly themed restaurant. Crowded! Overpriced for my tastes considering food is nothing special.

Long waits at this tourist spot. But it is OK seafood for the price. Better options are nearby.

The place has a great view. But it took too long for the food to come. The wait staff were very nice. It is a good casual place to take kids.

The shrimp heaven platter is just awesome. So delicious. The window view is pleasant. We reserved a table ahead. So the wait time is just two minutes. The waiters are very helpful and patient. The place itself is boisterous...just what we need for a cloudy evng. Lastly, garlic bread also tasted good and crispy.

I was not happy with my fish tacos but other than that I enjoyed my margarita and the view.

Not worth the money they give you like 4 shrimp on a 20 dollar plate :D

Very fun museum, although it s weird that people keep on insisting to have us try their food... the menu is a bit catchfishy, but hey Stupid is as stupid does.

The food was great even for the 30-40 minute wait time. Some of the decor looks like it came straight from the movie Forest Gump and the server even asked us some trivia questions while we waited for our food which was awesome! Love the movie, the food, and the restaurant. I'm definitely going back!

Food always good view is always beautiful... It's best to belong to Landry's Select Group...even if wait time is over 1 1/2 hours you get best seating within 5-10 minutes. We have used it at Bubba Gumps in Monterey and San Francisco and also The Rain Forrest Cafe.

Always a pleasure to eat here. Drinks are always tasty.

Like Forest says...Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you'll get. But I know that at Bubba Gumps you get great food. Just go there. !!!!

Very touristy, but if you're a fan of the movie (who isn't?) then you have to eat here! Kind of weird they don't have Dr. Pepper though...

The food was shrimptastic! We had the $20 platters with breaded shrimp, calamari, flounder, and fries. It was very busy but it doesn't seem to matter, the atmosphere was great!

Hush puppies were delicious. Shrimp scampi was pretty good. The waiter was awesome, and the drinks were pricy but excellent! Fun birthday dinner overall with stunning views. Food wasn't the best, but fun times had by all

We stopped by because we'd always meant to try a Bubba Gump's and once seated, it was fun to listen to the waiters interact with customers, asking trivia questions about the movie.

But after waiting 15 or 20 minutes, and not being offered even drinks, let alone taking our order, we left. The menu was uninspiring, reminding me more of a low budget Red Lobster than what I expected to be a seafood restaurant.

Views of Monterey Bay were excellent and service was kind and courteous. However, food was overpriced and not quite worth the price paid.

Great food and great atmosphere. It takes some time to get seated but simply get on the list early and walk around the bay while waiting.

We waited 40 minutes for our food, people seated after they order got there food within 15 minutes and another table after that, we were still waiting.

Your waitress excuses the kitchen was back up.and you had a banquet.

I dont care, for excuses, my food was not hot, it was little on the cold side and we had to wait so

They forgot my young daughter's food. They served my mom the wrong order. And it was my mom's birthday. Won't be going back.

Rude host and lousy waiter. Not the best experience like I've had in the past.

I was very dissapointed, I had no idea you could ruin shrimps that much. They were definitely not the worst thing ever, but there was way too much oil which did not taste fresh. I would work more on the sauces as well. Once again a big chain proves to be just another 'factory' not paying attention to details.
