Great service. The restaurant was incredibly hot and everyone was sweating. Expensive for sure but good food quality and staff were very friendly and attentive.

Never been to any Bubba Gump before but this restaurant just hit the spot! We did not have lunch or dinner and came early evening/late noon. We were seated by a super friendly and courteous waitress at the bar in a cute little nook. It was my birthday and they brought a birthday flavored cupcake with singers to sing . A wonderful gesture! It was an overall fun experience with my small family.
Horrible service and the ribs were better than the bland shrimp
We came to bubba gumps because we wanted a safe food choice before our flight back to georgia. We have only had great experiences back home, so we were really surprised by this awful experience. Once we got called back we were sent to the hostesses inside, but they took a while trying to figure out where to put us so we stood there awkwardly waiting on them to figure it out. Our waitress was sweet, but horrible. We waited forever just to put in our drink order (which ended up being our entire order due to how long it took for someone to come to our table). Then we waited a long time again. The tables around us were having even worse experiences. One family never got their appetizer and another table never got half of the food ordered. Several people in their party left the restaurant without their friends because they had already eaten and paid for their food before the others had even gotten their food. We finally got our food and nothing was cooked at the same time. My shrimp and mahi mahi were cold and my mashed potatoes were hot. My husband had cold shrimp and scalding hot shrimp. I got one refill the entire time and my husband got zero. I had to put the "Stop" sign up just to get the check (which was given to us by the manager because our waitress was busy doing Forest Gump trivia when she was VERY much behind.) I hate leaving reviews like this but dang.
Good food, good service. Although when they take reservations, it's a hit or miss.
The service was great and waitress very friendly and always checking on us..food was so good and iced tea tasted fresh
This location is absolutely beautiful, has an amazing view, and is well-situated. The servers are very friendly and in spirit for the chain. However, its location means it's almost always packed (hint: be a Landry's club member to get seated faster!), but always seems extremely understaffed. Today, a peak day and holiday, the wait was two hours for non-Landrys members, but there was just one server for the entire open patio area, which was just too much. She was really friendly, but clearly couldn't keep up with all the tables.
Ordered fish n chips, it arrived raw twice before I said I couldn't eat their food and asked them to take it off my tab. No apology. Lemonade also isn't fresh here. Won't return.
I would give it 5 stars if they carried Coca Cola instead of Pepsi!
A go to when visiting Monterey. No waiting at the time we went and food was as advertised. Someone forgot my salad and there was no hassle having my bill corrected.
Menu lacks a little bit but it's better than the 1000 page thesaurus you get at Cheesecake Factory
Will be back again
Just so so meal. The service was good but the food was not exceptional. We ate here for lunch and had the shrimp tacos, bbq shrimp, and salads. Fun atmosphere but the food is just ok.
Very good attention!!
Price / quality is good !!
We would like to thank the manager, Megan Landry, for offering a new shirt to our son who, unfortunately, had sauce spilled on his own shirt. She was quick to respond and offer assistance! Food was great and the view was awesome. Definitely recommend.
Awesome place! It's always busy so expect a wait. However the food is recommended. If you buy certain drinks, you get to keep the cup as memorabilia!
This place was fun and the food was great. Price wasn't too bad either.
The site is great. The food very good. It is worth going, especially for the theme.
The service was almost nonexistent, the food was terrible (the shrimp batter was slimy and not cooked). Bubba Dump!
The menu has been reduced due to Covid-19 and no "stop Forest stop" signs. The waiters are doing a great job trying to keep food and drinks coming to the outdoor patio
Disappointed in food. Clam chowder runner and thin. Hardly any clams or potatoes. Won't be returning.
I love coming to this place food is good and staff always friendly.
Menu is changed from last year I went so there are no spaghetti neither many dishes I like. I was disappointed with that and the food taste. Beside i waited for one hour until the food came although I know it was long holiday and had a lot customer. I will not go there again
Not a bad place though quite tourist oriented. Service is good and friendly. Food is just ok.
Excellent food and service! Great service from "Zack"
everything was perfect except from the host we got. his name was JAIRO, had a bad attitude and bad manners.
Waitresses was new but fun and engaging. Party of 7, got lucky with no wait. Had the jumbayli, and was suggested by the waitress to top it cheese with a side of tortilla chips. Now living in Texas so close to Louisiana this confused me. Tried it anyway. Food was good, but I wouldn't recommend messing with the jumbayli like this again.
Great chain restaurant! On the water, awesome views... The food was good, but a little spicy... Was not ready for the spicy...however overall the service was great and the shrimp was awesome
If you lost my last post, that is par for the course. Food was cold, nobody apologized.
You did loose my last post. This picture is of the cold food I sent the hostess, after I got my text for the 6 o'clock reservation they reminded me of... The problem is I had a 530 that got changed to a 500. The hostesses did a great job, but once we were sat it was down hill.
As a restaurant manager I did speak to two of the managers about coaching issues that may be addressed.
The "manager" that came to take my wife and my cold dinners was gone once he took the food. We waited for another 30 minutes to get our bill after he took the cold food with No apology!
I wanted to take my family here for my Birthday dinner, like my wife and I had some 12 years ago. WRONG!
Will not go back, Will not recommend. THEY have my information if they want to contact.
Great servers and food. Lots of fun answering the trivia questions from the movie
Wait is always long shrimp scampi is delicious but my husbands food was cold
The food was good, but the service was lacking. It wasn't super busy, but we had to stop the servers to get help when we needed something.
Great staff and food, you could really feel this is where it all started for the brand. It is a treat for fans of the movie!
Drinks were good, but meals were poor. Gumbo and chowder were cold and shrimp bucket was not very appetising.
Waited an hour for our food, came out cold, left no tip and was charged an additional $12 on my debit card. Real classy Bubba Gump. Will NEVER eat there again. Mediocre food for a hefty price.
Great food, awesome view, service a little slow, but friendly.
Okay simple info, pricey but of course its sea food, its great, waiters are very sharp and are good at trying to get you to pay more. Special drinks that comes with glass cups or plastic ones that your paying for which is more $$, ask for a watermelon lemonade and comes a light up cup together the drink is $9.00 bucks, our check of four people was $102. Check your bill and remember what you order and how much it is!!!
I hate seafood so I've always avoided this place! I was missing out there food is all so amazing!
It was nice, but the birds out on the patio are annoying!
ITS SUPER GOOD GO RIGHT NOW
Don't GO TO THE FISH HOPPER ONLY IF YOUR RICH
Cute as an idea ... In the end it is a classic American chain ... The problem is that you can not drink in plastic cups with those prices.
Decent food, amazing atmosphere, and the prices weren't even too bad.
Worst fish and chips... Fish was greasy, mushy, and bland. Chips were greasy and salty
Would have been 5 STARS but I was charged $13.25 for for a draft blonde beer that was cold and delish but I hsd 2 pints and paid 26.50. SHAME ON ME FOR NOT ASKING THE PRICE BEFORE ORDERING , BUT SHAME ON BUBBA FOR SCREWING ME. ANY WHERE ELSE AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN 13.00 TOTAL FOR 2 DRAFTS. FOOD WAS EXCELLENT . BEST FISH AND CHIPS I'VE EVER HAD.
Awesome food. Great service. Amazing views. Overall a fantastic experience. Might not be the place to be on a diet, but for some good, comforting, and often fried fare, it's pretty excellent. It may be a chain restaurant, but the experience is still worth the trip.
This was my fist time eating at a Bubba Gump. The food was as I expected. Mostly fried... Since I'm from Georgia and lived in Alabama for several years, fried is what I expected. Hopefully the shrimp was from the gulf, not Thailand (or somewhere).
Great atmosphere. Great drinks. And awesome food. I'm a Forrest Gump fan and I am glad that I came here and it's very near to the aquarium!
This place was wonderful! Everyone giving a bad review is being ridiculous. Of course it's it's chain, but who cares? The good was great the service was perfect. If you want a good view then simply ask them how long you will need to wait. I waited 10 mins, but the seating was great! Food was reasonably priced for the quality.
Shrimps, prawns still shrimp ... a super nice service, change of scenery guaranteed!
If you can ... install yourself at the edge of the water!
We come here all the time, great food. If you have the chance get a seat outisde on the deck and watch the ocean while you eat.
Portions are really good and I liked this place. Best not to go with toddlers as the food is spicy for them to play with :)
Very good attention, food and drink. Something expensive.
Good food, good views of the ocean, cute deco all about the movie.
The food was great and the view was fantastic. I will definitely be visiting again
Even though it was extremely busy they had us seated very quickly and right next to the window with an ocean view,it was truly a fun time with my wife and I. I will recommend this place to anyone for any kind of occasion the menu is so fun to choose from and the way they present it as well they bring it to you like a motion picture. Keep up the good work and I will definitely make sure to let all my friends and family know about this particular location
Very nice place and on the shores of the fascinating sea !!!! The attention and the exquisite food !!! delicious
If your a ran of the movie, and you don't mind mediocre food, you'll probably enjoy it.
Good food, friendly staff and great views across the bay
Pretty good food here, and cute atmosphere. Service was really good. Nice views during the day as well.
Pretty chill place with nice service. It's a bit gimmicky though, but that's always fun. It's a lot of food that you get, might not finish it all.
After being allowed into the restaurant by the outside gatekeeper we were met inside by a very confused hostess asking if we were wanting to bring out stroller to the table, or if we wanted to leave it outside. After explaining that there was no way we would be waking up a peacefully sleeping 3 month old she asked us to please wait while she went to make sure that "was ok". After a brief wait we were taken to a table. Our waitress arrived shortly after, physically removing the menus from my wife's hand to show her "favorites" that I am sure match the rest of the servers favorites this week. She took our drink order (2 long island ice teas and a Mt. Dew) and explained the mechanics of the "stop forest stop" sign and stressed that when we were ready to order, flip the sign and anyone could take our order. A few minutes later decisions were made and the sign was flipped. I lost track of how many wait staff, bussers, and hosteses walked by before a neighboring waitress going over Gump trivia finally instructed to see what we needed. When we told him we'd like to order he wandered off to find our waitress. We placed our order and eagerly awaited our meal. 10 minutes later our waitress returned with our calamari appetizer and said she would track the status of our drinks. 5 minutes later a busboy returned with our (seemingly alcohol-less) mixed drinks. After a reasonable 5 minute wait for someone to return with our sons fountain drink, we flagged down our waitress to enquire upon the status of the mountain dew to which she gave the empty table a puzzled look and stated she would get it. She quickly returned with the drink when my son asked if he could have a straw, to which she said she would have to return with. She quickly returned stating they were out of straws but she would try to find one. After passing by further times with food, checks, and drinks (with straws) my son asked again and was promptly given a straw. We are now at the 45 minute point into visit when the waitress returned stating our food should be out soon and started the Gump mandated trivia. At the 1 hour mark, we were finally given our food and the waitress explained that our check was "lost" and the food had to be made on the fly. We quickly ate our food and asked for our check. I was happy to see that there was no discount, comp, or even apology on our check for our hour wait and watching multiple tables arrive, eat, and leave before being served.
The ineptitude of the serving staff was shocking, even for a themed novilty eatery. We were lied to at least once (out of straws? Seriously) left to wait, and not even offered any form of apology for the treatment. It's clear this chain depends entirely on first visit gimicks and could care less for return business.
Well Forrest Gump the movie is a favorite of mine. Coming to the restaurant based upon the movie was exciting! Unfortunately the food was terrible. Ordered a soup and salad to start... The clam chowder was far from fresh nor had any taste at all. The cesear salad I paired with it- the greens were aged the dressing was tastless and the chicken I added to the salad was undercooked with no taste. I contemplated the main dish! I asked for a Dr. Pepper, as that was Forrest's favorite drink... they DID NOT serve Dr. Pepper! Really? So many flaws hete it's unfortunate.
Not impressed and will not be visiting this restaurant again.
My favorite place for a family seafood restaurant. My daughter and wife love it here and so do I. The service is fast and the amount of food you get for the price is great.
Food is good! But the wait is horrible, when there are open tables inside! They rather let their customers freeze! Will need to go some place else next time!
good food but dang its expensive. Tourist trap, but try some of the drinks
Cold food. Our waitress SUCKED! manager told; didn't care! My mom's first and last time there :(
Bubba Gumps was making a great effort to re-open with the new regulations and Teresa from Galveston did a great job in making everything right for us and our family and helping us have a great experience.
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is a family-friendly chain that offers a unique dining experience with its seafood and American fare served in a fishing-boat-themed setting. The restaurant has become popular not only in the USA but also internationally, thanks to its delicious food, friendly service, and fun atmosphere.
The company was founded in 1996 by Viacom as a tribute to the movie "Forrest Gump," which featured the character Bubba Blue, who loved shrimp. The first Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. restaurant opened in Monterey, California, and since then has expanded to over 30 locations worldwide.
One of the things that make Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. stand out from other seafood restaurants is its commitment to sustainability. The company sources its seafood from responsible suppliers who follow sustainable fishing practices and avoid overfishing.
The menu at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. features an array of dishes that cater to all tastes and preferences. From classic shrimp dishes like coconut shrimp and popcorn shrimp to more adventurous options like Cajun-style mahi-mahi or grilled salmon with mango salsa, there's something for everyone.
In addition to seafood, the restaurant also serves American favorites like burgers, sandwiches, salads, and desserts such as key lime pie or chocolate chip cookie sundae.
But it's not just about the food at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.; it's also about the experience. The restaurant's decor is inspired by Forrest Gump's shrimping boat "Jenny," complete with nautical-themed accents such as ropes hanging from ceilings or lifebuoys on walls.
Moreover, each table has a sign with different phrases related to Forrest Gump movie trivia questions that servers will ask you throughout your mealtime; this adds an extra layer of fun for families or groups of friends looking for an entertaining night out.
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.'s success can be attributed not only to its delicious food but also its excellent customer service; staff members are friendly and attentive without being intrusive - they genuinely want you to have an enjoyable dining experience!
