Ok, so long post but bear with me.

i went there on 10/15/18 to finalize the VW sponsored buyback of our 2010 Jetta. Did the closing and all that with Jennifer. She was incredibly helpful and diligent in making sure everything went as smooth as possible. One we started, no hiccups and it was over before we knew it. So, she and I started taking about what I was going to get next. We engaged in some back and forth about what I was looking at and what I was getting for the money. She wasn't being pushy with recommending VW products or deriding the decision my wife and I had already made. We were just talking but she struck my interest in one of their vehicles. So she then introduced me to Ted S. Ted was super friendly and early knowledgeable what the Atlas I wanted to look at. I know everyone thinks that all sales people are knowledgeable but most of the time they aren't. Ted was definitely though. So we talked about all the great points of the vehicle and had some other general conversations. After a bit, I needed to leave so Ted have me his cell phone number and said if I have any questions, feel free to call him. And I had questions and he answered them over the course of the next few days. Anyways, that same night, I brought my wife out to look at the car. Ted was no longer there but Chris W. was. He took the high bar Ted had set and maintained it throughout our test drive and subsequent conversation. Chris extended the same personal cell phone privilege to me. Fortunately I already had Ted's number but I knew Chris wouldn't mind if I had questions and called him. Fast forward a few days to today and there I was back at Brown's VW completing the purchase of our Atlas. Ted made himself available and walked me through the process and made it painless. He then put me in the more than capable hands of Robbie to handle the financing and all the registration, etc. Robbie was a delight to talk to and we realized we had grown up not to far apart from each other many states away. So throughout the paperwork process we shared stories of the old home land if you will and next thing you know, I was the proud owner of a new VW Atlas. All the people I met at Brown's were incredibly kind, helpful, friendly and most importantly, genuine. I would not hesitate one iota to recommend that anyone go see them about a vehicle. They made what normally it's a nerve wracking experience into a pleasant one. I just wish I had won the mega millions the other night so I could buy more vehicles from them!

We had an excellent experience, recently, at Brown's buying a 2013 Golf TDI. The salesman, Zack Hurst, was bright and energetic. And Jason, the sales manager, was a jewel. He worked overtime to get us the car we wanted at the price point we needed. I greatly enjoyed working with him and his crew, and feel comfortable having spent the amount we did for the vehicle we got. I highly recommend Brown's VW. If you are unhappy, talk to Jason. He really is an amazing manager, dedicated to making his customers happy.

This place is a joke! My headlight went out repeatedly, they worked on it 3 times (for almost a year)! Took it to AutoZone to get a new bulb they told me what was wrong ($38 total part cost) they quoted me over $200!??! Maybe they're better working on VW's, but not on Suzuki's! Overall I wouldn't trust this dealership!

I've only had service done here but I was able to walk in without an appointment and get an oil change in under 1.5 hours. Price was also $15-20 cheaper than West Broad VW for the same service. Service advisor was also not pushy at all about "suggested" services, which is always a HUGE plus to me.

John Alley helped me as well and made me feel comfortable and made me feel at home. Finance worked with me to get my best rate possible. All around fantastic people would give 6 stars if possible. Serious bait-and-switch going on at this place. Advertised on their OFFICIAL WEBSITE a price out the door but when at the dealership in person was told that the price was actually $2k more. Was then told that the website offer was the "employee price" and that it wasn't available to the general public. Why put it on the website as such if you're not going to honor it? By the way, no where on their website was there a disclaimer saying that the price quoted was only available to employees. There are better VW dealerships in the area both in price, service and in inventory selection.

Everything about my experience was fantastic! I had an Urban Loader installed by the service department and was totally impressed with the ease throughout the entire process and professionalism both the service and parts department exhibited. I purchased it online from VW and was able to ship it to your dealer for free, when I called for the appointment we were able to work with our schedule. I had to reschedule and that was not problem at all. The actual appointment was great as well and it was right on schedule with no delays.
Although we live 1.5 hours away I will continue to have the services to all 3 of our VWs at Browns. Thank you

I apologize for the long review, but I think people should be aware of our experience...

Unfortunately, I recently had a terrible car buying experience with Brown's Volkswagen. My fiance and I drove about an hour and half to look at a used Jetta that we had found on their website. The car drove great during the test drive and had low miles.

I asked the salesman if they could come down a little on the price since it was priced on the higher end of the vehicles value. His response was: "these cars are already aggressively priced to sell". I told him I could pay cash right now if he was willing to work with me. He then stated, I guess I can ask, but I doubt they will lower the price. The salesman came back and said they came down a little because they had an online coupon--I agreed to purchase the car. In the process, I asked if we were able to pay with a card because I didn't have a check on me (this was a spontaneous purchase) and I was told no.

While the salesman was filling out the paperwork, I heard the salesman next door use the same sales pitch to his customer "these cars are already aggressively priced"-- I'm assuming that's their "go-to" phrase when customers try to negotiate.

After asking if we were able to use a card to pay for the full amount and being told no, I asked the salesman if they could hold my check a few day's, so I could transfer money to the appropriate account. The salesman said no problem, just let the finance manager know. I also asked if I would be able to take the car home since we live over an hour away. He said that we could.

Once the salesman finished the his paperwork, he said he would go get the car ready and give all the paperwork to finance. We waited well over and hour for finance, when nobody else was in front of me. We probably spent close to 4 hours total at the dealership.

When we finally got back to finance, I asked the manger to hold my check for a specific date. He said he would, however, I would have to come back because he couldn't transfer my plates since the car wasn't paid for yet. The salesman didn't know that. The financial manager had to go speak to the salesman and upper management to make sure we would take the car home. The salesman ended up coming back to finance to apologize that we would have to drive back out to the dealership (again, over an hour and a half away) to have the plates changed.

I asked the finance manager for something in writing stating that he wouldn't cash the check until Monday, he said he couldn't write anything up and that I would have to take his word for it. I, admittedly, didn't realize that Monday was Veterans day and requested that they wait to cash the check until Monday. The check wash cashed on Monday as requested by me, but the funds were deducted on first thing Tuesday Morning since Monday was a holiday. My funds did not arrive until Tuesday afternoon and unfortunately the check bounced and I was charged fees.

We called the dealership once we realized the check bounced (they did not call us) and the financial adviser asked if we would bring a certified check; again we live an hour and a half away and we had already been out there twice and advised that we need additional options because we weren't driving another hour and a half (which would have been the 3rd time). He gave us the option to pay by credit card like we originally asked and the issue was resolved.

Overall, there was a complete breakdown in communication between all staff members involved in the purchase of the vehicle. The salesman was reluctant to work with me on the priced and fed me a trained sales pitch. I could mention some other problems that I encountered, but this review in lengthy enough. While we are happy with the car, we are very disappointed with the overall experience.

Had a decent experience with my salesperson (Claire Wallace) and loved my new TDI Sportwagen. However, after sale experience with the dealership was really subpar.
When I left the dealership in my new car, I immediately noticed that the wheel was cocked to the left when going in a straight line. I knew it wasn't supposed to be that way, so I called the dealership and they said no problem, we'll fix it when you come in for your 1500 mile checkup.
When I went in for the checkup, I had the service writer first tell me that the adjustment warranty for alignment was only 1000 miles so I was out of the warranty period. After wrangling with him over the fact that I was told to wait until the 1500 mile checkup, he tried to tell me that the wheel was supposed to be slightly cocked to compensate for the crown in the road!!! That was preposterous- my mother in law and good friend both have the same vehicle, and their wheels are dead straight (as they should be) so I knew I was being swindled. Brown's wanted me to pay to have my car put on the alignment rack, and I refused. At this point I had seen and heard all I needed to from Brown's Service dept.
I took my car over to West Broad VW and they performed the alignment under warranty and gave the car a free general check-up. After this positive experience with West Broad I've been getting service there ever since and have always been happy with them. Though I didn't buy my car from them (wish I had given them my business instead of Browns) they've treated me very fairly on every service visit.
Bottom Line: With the existence of three different Volkswagen dealerships in the Richmond area (West Broad, Browns, and Priority) there really is no reason to settle for the bad service at Browns. Bad vehicle service can really sour the ownership experience of an otherwise excellent car. Based on my experience, I'd advise avoiding Brown's and taking your business to a dealership that at least acts like they appreciate it.

This was the easiest car buying experience ever! I purchased my new Passat and there was no high pressured sales tactics. The environment was very laid back and the salesman went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable, had everything I needed. If I said no then there was no pushing and every question that I had was answered by their very knowledgeable staff.

This will be the dealership that I suggest to friends and family and will make all of my future purchases here!

After shopping around and getting hassled by some other dealers, I reached out to Greg and he was honest, open and transparent for his very first email response. We had a deal worked out in less than 2 hours and a few emails. Awesome experience, felt like I was a valued customer and was treated like a human being. On delivery of the vehicle we also had a great professional interaction with Josh Sadler in the finance office. The whole team at Brown's was great!

We went there and was told the vehicle was in the shop it would be back in 45 minutes. My experience as a new service customer started off badly due to my inquiry not being answered promptly. After the service adviser contacted me, by the way her name was Susan, things went very well. She attentively listened to my issues with our VW Passat and suggested that I bring it in the next day. I am not sure what is going on w this place. It used to be a warm and inviting place to get my car serviced. Communication with the service advisors is horrible. I have tried to work w them for a payment plan and never heard back. When my car recently had to go in for a radiator hose I had to pay a large amount of money before "corporate" would allow the release of my car. Part of those charges (1600) was from a year ago that was for my doors that have never worked properly. And to my surprise I had to pay!!!!!
The service director has tried to work with me and is a nice guy but their new way of doing business is one way I will no longer be. #disappointed #timetofindanewservicedepartment #hereicomewestbroadvw #iveheardgoodthingsaboutpriority

Bait and switch, Matt my sales rep was honest and cool. Visited the dealership to take a look at a new 2018 Golf on their site listed for a decent price. Matt walked me to the car to take a look and went to make a copy of my license. When Matt returned I was told his manager said, he couldn't sell the car and I could speak with him... I opted not to talk to him. I'll drive to Priority VW in Chester instead. Take the car off the site if it's not sellable.

I will never recommend anyone to come here to buy a VW. Our experience was so terrible, I don't have the heart to share it; I literally looked at my license plate frame and was instantaneously reminded of how bad the experience was for us, which is why I am now writing this review.

Update: as you can see, the General Manager responded to my rating. I mean, a simple search using my last name in his system would result in finding a sale. We've tried to resolve it, and the corporate office got involved, but that should never be the case when purchasing a vehicle. This directly speaks to the lack of attention to detail that we experienced when our plates were not delivered due to an address that was written correctly. I really have to take off my license plate cover...

This dealership does not know how to handle people...

This dealership does not know how to handle people who have their financing already in order. I arrived willing to pay sticker price on a VW Golf and I had my money ready to go from USAA. The salesman tried- clearly twice, questionably a third time- to trick me into applying for financing. When I say trick, I mean at one point he told me plainly that a form labelled "finance application" was for tax, tag, and title and another time scrolled a screen down to hide the finance application label and told me it was the place for registration data. When my husband and I noticed the label he pretended it had been an accident (not sure how you accidentally perfectly scroll past a page title). This is the kind of thing I expect from a dodgy secondhand store, not a VW dealership.

I said several times that I had financing approved already and just wanted to test drive, and I actually had to say I was going to leave before I was allowed to test drive the car. By the time I was able to buy the car I was starving and had been there three times longer than should have been required when I made a specific appointment for this car.

If you're wondering why I still bought this car, it's the TDI model from 2015. Pretty awesome, not in the recall, and a solid vehicle. I drove 3 hours to get this car, and if I turned it down I'd have to drive 3 hours home then another 8 hours to get to the next nearest comparable model in Florida. That said, I was one sentence away from leaving anyway. I am astounded at the behavior of this salesman.

My troubles didn't end there. A few days before my temp tag expired I got a call from the salesman saying he needed proof of address (which I'd brought to the dealership but not been asked for) to finish registration. I sent it. He claims he didn't get it, though I have the digital record of having sent it to the address he gave me. I had to call the sales manager to get a new temp tag while they sorted the situation out. At this point the manager called to apologize and assure me everything would be taken care of. He seemed sincere, so I relaxed to wait for my tag.

Today, I received a bill for my vehicle tax. The tax I paid with my car purchase, like most of us do. I am one hundred percent done at this point. DO NOT buy from this place without extreme cause. I wish I'd followed my instincts and left, because while the car is awesome this dealership has caused more troubles than I imagined possible.

In the interests of fairness, let me say that the receptionist and finance manager both seemed friendly and competent. I also did get that apology phone call from the manager- but then the problems continued. I am astounded. Stay away.

I am very happy with Brown's. Yesterday, I went in to buy my first car on my own. and Shawn was SO helpful. He explained everything very clearly and made sure I got the car I wanted, but he also made sure to answer any questions I had. He went above and beyond and even helped me get insurance on my own. I've never been to a place that was so willing to sit down and spend time to really make sure the customer is satisfied. Throughout the experience, I was able to speak with people from the service department, the finance department, and even the manager, and everyone was just as friendly and helpful. Across the board, it was a wonderful car buying experience, and I highly recommend them. I'm excited to have become a part of the Brown's family, and I look forward to working with them in the future.

My true rating would be a 3.8 out of 5 golden stars! I actually purchased a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Ultimate from here last week and it was a pretty painless experience. My agent was Mo Bouhafra, who was amazing, personable, and flexible! I wanted to make a good and fair purchase, and that's exactly what we ended up doing!

I did feel I was lowballed on the trade-in value of my car, which they actually brought the value up to where it needed to be after my counteroffer. I don't think many of us enjoy the financing process, but I did feel a little pushed along, which was off-putting, but we made it work!

Overall, my buying process was painless. I would agree, you don't see many folks wearing mask, which is concerning. The detailing of my vehicle could've been better, but this was a rewarding experience. Mo has continued to check-in, and I appreciate him for doing so! The lot and showroom were very clean. The staff, especially Mo and Troy, provided great comfort and customer service.

I'd recommend them!

Brown's VW on Midlothian Turnpike is the place to come for great service, excellent deals and a family environment!!!!! I just leased a 2016 Passat and I will have to say that Shawn W. really went above and beyond to get me the best deal and vehicle. Also, Jerome, Liz and Bryan were wonderful with being team players. When your battery goes, IT GOES! My truck dies while out with my 1 year old son. I was able to get a jump to get us going. However, fearing that it would happen again I placed several calls to set an appointment for an appointment. Susan Heindl was able to get me in right away! Not only did she get me in to have my battery replaced but she went the extra mile to decode the model of my truck! 5 stars

I bought a 2011 Volkswagen CC over the weekend and Alex was extremely nice however the sales manager was a jerk. I came in with an approved loan with a 5% interest rate from Bank of America. I told them 5 times and they tried to find me something better however came back and said that bank of america quoted me at a 8.44 rate. I showed them the email I had gotten that very morning and was told it was wrong. I called bank of america yesterday and was told they went through the dealership route versus the consumer loan to put more money in their pocket. Bank of america was able to refinance the vehicle at that lower interest rate for me so finally got it straightened out. I then called and left several messages regarding items I left in my vehicle that I traded in asking them to mail them back to me since I'm 3 hours away. Nobody responded to my call. These people cannot be trusted or relied on to give good customer satisfaction. In fact once we had all the paperwork signed with finance manager not one of our salesmen even came outside as we were leaving to thank us for our business. Very poor business so just go in there prepared because they will try to get over on you!! They don't even deserve 1 star and I will continue my business with Honda when it's time for a new car because they know how to satisfy a customer. Also, Brown's is completely overpriced so just watch out!!

Service Review - Crooks. Sharks. Gave me an estimate of almost $2000 for work I had done at another dealership for $390. And they refused to give me the estimate in writing. So I still have no idea what this $2000 estimate was for. This is the kind of place where if you bring in a new car with a flat tire, they will give you an estimate of $450 for a new tire and new wheel and won't consider the option of fixing the nail hole in the tire for $25. This is the kind of place where if you bring in a new battery that has no charge because you left the car lights on, they will only sell you a new battery. They won't even consider the option of charging the battery for $25. After many experiences with this service department (they are near my work), I was told that my battery could not be charged when I knew this was not true. I said to the employee, "Oh come on, let's be honest, this battery can be charged. But you would rather sell me a battery for $150 than charge my battery for $25". The employee promptly said, "If you don't think I am being honest, take your business somewhere else. And in the future, we won't service a battery or anything else unless it was purchased from us." I had the battery charged elsewhere for free.

He was patient, going over every car in my price range that met my criteria until we found the perfect car for me. A 2014 Hyundai Sonata GLS. It had everything I was looking for and the payments I needed to be at were met. I'll be recommending him to my friends. The process was efficient and before I knew it, I was driving off in my new car.

I went in, they were quick to show me which cars were in my range and worked out a deal that allowed me to feel confident in the car I was putting my daughter in while also ensuring that it made sense financially.

I purchased a Certified pre-owned Jetta from this dealership and have had nothing but issues with it. I have owned the vehicle almost 2 years and would never purchase another Volkswagen again. The door lock actuator went bad and was told I would receive "special" pricing to have this fixed since the service department miscommunicated and told me my car was still under warranty multiple times before dropping it off and getting a loaner car. Once they gave me a "special price" it wasn't very special. Charging 200 to replace a part I can get for $37 doesn't seem very special. Needless to say Browns has been an absolute let down and wouldn't recommend purchasing a VW from them unless you want issues.

I had a wonderful experience with the service department. They picked up my car from my work and left me a loaner to use for the day. I had my AC issues diagnosed and fixed By Jeff the same day. I will definitely use them in the future.
