These guys are great. They even understood that I was late for my first class (as a guest) very efficiently helped me with the waiver documents and pointed me to where I needed to go. I very quickly signed up for their one week pass since they have ALL the Les Mills classes I like and then some. I did BodyJam for the very first time and her class was PACKED, based on her personality, you soon knew why. I appreciate their consideration for travelers, as well as their awesome temporary plans to suit all levels of commitment!

Horrible. The Childcare workers are absolutely horrible. I left my daughter in their care for 15 minutes and she was all cut up and had a bloody nose! They put her in a ball pit with older kids! My baby is 10 months old. BUYER BEWARE!

Staff is friendly. Front desk is a little unorganized at times. But I really enjoy the group classes. And my son enjoys going to child care. He did soccer last year and we loved it.

I just finished a 5 week rehab with personal trainer Veronica. I had rotator cuff surgery and had finished regular PT, but I was still having problems.

Veronica assessed my issues and developed a program to strengthen the affected area. She was very patient and took the time to explain how each exercise would affect my recovery. She showed me the proper way to do each exercise.

At the end of my last session I feel that I have vastly improved and with further suggestions from Veronica I will continue to improve at a rapid pace.

I would highly recommend Veronica for anyone needing personal training.

Come to Jacksonville every two months to visit my mom. The YMCA, even before I became a member again, always allowed me to work out and treated me well. This location has everything and very friendly staff. Great organization!!!!

The childcare here is wonderful. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and that they have everything under control. There's an outdoor playground and a separate room for infants. The pool is nice and clean and the staff is great. My only complaint is that the pool area isn't bigger. It's large but I come from a Y that had an entire indoor kids playground pool lol. The workout facility is nice with update equipment and everyone generally cleans up after themselves. The basketball court is great and the pickup games look pretty competitive. Great place. Another downfall is the unheksthy subway attached to it's side. Not exactly what I expected given the antiobiotics in the meat and the bread but it's better than a McDonald's. The yoga studio and other classrooms are superb.

I love this Y. The staff is so friendly and helpful. I go in early in the morning and Ms. Loretta and Ms. Sharon greet everyone with smile. They have many standout employees that really go above and beyond. I am thankful for this Y. It does so much for me and our community.

I done with the YMCA. Overpriced and it seem like weight plates have been removed. If you re really into weight training this is not the place to be..They are not enough weights to work out. the people are allowed to just walk in the gym for free, so I just cancel my membership last week for the simple reason why continue to pay for something that other people just get he hook up to play ball. You can tell who are the members and who are not. Being at the YMCA you can tell that the gym has lost a lot of member because they use to have real peak hours not anymore.

The southern lady answering the phone named Ms Loretta (I believe ) was very rude and unprofessional. She was screaming at me to hold on. She cut me off when I was asking questions about the thearpy pool hours. She offered an excuse instead of an apology when I asked why she screamed at me. Her excuse was that she's really busy. When is it ever acceptable to scream at customers?! She also said they do not have managers at the YMCA?! This lady has no manners. She needs to be retrained.

They have so much here, so you never have nothing to do, there are many programs to choose from, and the facilities available seem endless. The environment is also very friendly and supportive. I recommend this gym to anyone from a single athlete to a whole family. You won't regret coming here.

Wow! This place has everything. Towel service, lockers, pool, sauna free weights, plenty of machines, child-care, tons of classes for free and some very special ones that cost anywhere from $20-40 a person. Love it there.

A huge facility with everything you could ask for and more. Showers, locker rooms with digital locks you can program with your own code, showers inside there with all towels & soaps, body washes provided, a lounge area w/flatscreen TV (though it looks like analog fuzzy TV on it,idk why or how,it gets such a bad signal, seems to have cable channels though) A whirlpool & 2 heated pools, an Olympic sized pool with lanes for laps & a smaller therapy pool. Plenty of exercise equipment up & downstairs and group rooms for classes and training lessons, etc. Brooks provides rehabilitation services. I got a free basic membership with Silver Sneakers through my United Healthcare plan & it allows me to do all I want basically. The classes or extra training is all that is extra cost. Great place though. So far so good.

SPA is always close.

Update: They have cleaned the spa area and it can be use. Loved the sauna rebuild and all new wood. Nice! I am impress. Congratulations!

I only give 4 stars because of the smell of the all in face, hair and body wash. Please try to replace it.

I come for physical therapy (they have some of the best, most experienced therapists too) twice a week since January 2015. They are the nicest people to deal with and very understanding and flexible. The YMCA part is also full of polite and nice people. Always the to help and always have a smile. It is super clean and well maintained. State of the art equipment and people who know how to use it there to help.

This site boasts a therapy pool, and if you tour the facility, they will be sure to mention it. However, this pool is off-limits if you have children. Not just off-limits for your children, but off-limits for YOU. There is ONE hour per week, between 9am and 5pm when the therapy pool is open and doesn't have a class scheduled. This single hour? Happens when childcare is closed.

Often, during the day, it's booked with the same class back-to-back.

When I complained, I was told that those with children are welcome to come from 8-9 am (while we're dropping our older children off at school) or from 7-8pm (when we're trying to put our children to bed). When I pointed out these difficulties, I was laughed at and told the schedule would not be changed.

This YMCA is very clean, has a lot of activities, classes, and lots of gym equipment. Very big gym and a great atmosphere. Me and my boyfriend have a membership and we love to come here. With Covid-19 going around they are using precautions very well with a lot of things spaced out, checking temperatures walking in and cleaning everything regularly.

One of the best facilities I've been to! They offer different exercise classes, you can get personal training, and some days there are some really intense, but friendly 5on5 pick- up basketball games in the gym. They also hand a amazing yoga class they offer. Only thing is sometimes it should be held I the basketball gym, because it's beginning to behind popular, and the room it's in is bigger, just not Big enough sometimes.

Southside brooks is wonderful. They have lot of equipment. Number of trainers. Helpful staff. Indoor pool, therapy pool. But the hours in therapy pool are little less for public. Hot tub, sauna bath are very good. The most important thing is the different classes, zumba, yoga, Pilates, body step, body pump, body combat... endlesss... come.here and burn those extraa fats.. I love these classes.

I can understand the holidays hours end with 12 pm the day before holidays. But I can't understand why the Schedule is keep changing. It's not friendly when you look at the schedule and came to the gym to play basketball but it's being reserved for other event. Then you go to the service counter the staff just told you yes, we just change our December Schedule the 2nd time.

The gym is also full of 'Coach' who training basketball, when they training the just cover half of the court with 2 people. The rest of the court is packed with 20 people. I'm shocked YMCA is allowing those happened.

Spoke with representative in member services about guest passes since I cancelled my membership of 10 plus years due to deterioration in areas of the facility; the purpose of the guest passes was to take a look at the facility for improvements; the representative was slightly rude and not amenable.

This gym is the best in town. The instructors are first rate and the classes are unmatched at any other fitness facility around. I drive 20 miles round trip because I just love this place! The cost is higher than other gyms but trust me, it's worth every penny.

No contracts to sign and easy to opt out if needed. Also, a referral program in place when friends join up you get a free month.

I highly recommend the Brooks YMCA for anyone looking for a quality gym.

Per email update to members:

For your convenience, the Brooks Family YMCA will stay open until MIDNIGHT on Tuesdays beginning Tuesday, May 9! The therapy pool will remain open until 10:00pm and the lap pool will remain open until 10:45pm. We also invite you to get in the game during Open Gym or join us for our X-Factor Group Exercise class at 10:00pm. Tell your friends! We look forward to seeing you soon!

Great gym, cardio equipment should be fixed and tuned up more often. Otherwise, clean and friendly place.

My original review was 5 stars but I have since dropped it down to two stars. I do like the Y, I signed up specifically for the swimming pool (which is well maintained and indoors) I do not like the piped in music, it's loud and very distracting. It's so loud I can hear it underwater.

I have also found the front desk staff to be extremely rude, unsympathetic, bored, snapping their gum at me a few times and often rolling their eyes at me on several different occasions. Also, the rudest receptionist refused to give me her name and was not wearing a name tag. She was the person who 'signed me up'. I never got a tour of the facilities. I have never been approached by a staff member to see if I needed help or further orientation.

My suggestion is that you can train staff to carry out skills but you cannot ingrain a positive attitude into people.

My only other qualm is that it is a little expensive for what it is.
