the workout room is great and almost always not crowded, except the treadmills. There are usually only 1 or 2 slots open on those during peak hours. it is clean with a friendly staff. the pool is good but they dont have a sauna, only a hot tub.

Had so much fun there with my 3 yr old Granddaughter swimming. Then put her in the activity room while I went into exercise for a bit. Checked out the Cross Country session and some other things. Noticed the elevator to the next floor. The floors in the area before the women's area was being scrubbed by a sweet lady as we went into swim and then when we were done she was cleaning the floors in the shower area. So glad to see they take having a clean facility seriously. They had high on the wall warm air blowers which made it easy to dry our hair. I signed up for a free accessment of my exercising needs. Gonna enjoy going to the Y.

We are so excited about this place. Plan on taking the whole family here often. They have a pool, weight room, play area, all kinds of programs and activities for the kids in the summer, classes for adults, and I am stoked!

This place is great. I have no idea why people are voting it low because it has a everything you need. Free weights, countless machines, two pools, and open court. It's great and I definitely prefer it over the downtown YMCA where I feel like I'm going to get mugged as soon as I step out of my car.

I took a Zumba Instructor Training at this facility, and I like this YMCA location. The parking is good, the neighborhood is nice & clean. Plus it's about 5-10 minutes away from downtown Olympia.

This place is a blessings for families. I home schooled my son when he was younger and their home school program, which included swimming and exercise was a great addition for our other home school activities. My son also took swimming lessons there and loved it.

My son attended the Y Care After School Program at one of the elementary schools. At first, I had a lot of faith in this program because I've had 3 sisters-in-law work for Y Care in Indiana and they shared great things. Initially, I had my son attend both the Before and After program. I took him out of the Before School program because the site supervisor waited a week to let me know that my son was having a difficult time interacting with other kids- that he just stood and watched kids. This was a WEEK after having him start there! She had every opportunity to let me know of the concern she had since I saw her every morning but waited until I asked to speak with HER about a concern I had. She then told me that on his first day, they didn't know what class he was in, or grade for that matter, and that it took some time to figure out where he was supposed to be at. The site is located at the school, where the main office could've easily looked him up and they had my contact number. Again, I never knew about this until a week later. As a result, I had to speak with my supervisor to arrange me taking him to school myself and ended up withdrawing him from the morning program.
Everything else seemed fine after that. The other site manager, Colton, was nice and asked for ways to help my son open up in the after school program. He eventually began playing with everyone else and became quite the popular kid! A few weeks ago, I walked into the gym to pick my son up and saw the whole room in disarray. I noticed a girl laying underneath a table and knew immediately that she had some kind of meltdown. Having been a social worker and working with kids with behavioral concerns, I recognized what happened. I immediately went to Colton and asked what happened.
After he confirmed my assumption, I asked where my son was during all of it. He said they'd separated all the kids from her. I asked a lot more questions about training and the kids' safety. He let me know that the staff there have never been trained to work with children with behavioral/ emotional disabilities. I let him know that I would be speaking with the YMCA program supervisor. I thanked him for handling it the best he knew how.
May 31st, the next day, I called the YMCA Briggs branch and left a message for Sara Rocha. I mentioned I was a concerned parent and requested for her to return my call. Later that day, I asked for another supervisor that I could speak to since it was 1pm and I called at 9am. The excuse I was given was they must have been in a meeting this morning- well, that was the morning so what about now? I was given a number and again, had to leave a message.
Well, it is now June 20th. My son's last day of school was yesterday and I NEVER recieved a call from anyone from YMCA to address concerns with what I saw that day I picked my son up.
My son will not be going back to that program. Hopefully the staff at YMCA actually read this review since they're not too keen on returning calls from concerned, paying parents. Your overall YMCA program may be doing great things and getting rave reviews but your staff from Y Care could benefit from some additional support and training. I'm aware that the staff consists mostly of college kids and so the commitment might be lacking. However, that is no excuse for staff not communicating with parents about concerns regarding their child or for not having the tools to use some behavioral intervention with children who exhibit concerning behaviors. I trusted your organization to take care of my son (also paid you to do so). I don't think it's too much to ask that staff acknowledge me when I drop off or pick up my child especially if my son is having a difficult time with the transition. I also don't think it's too much to ask that a supervisor return my call.
Don't bother calling me now since it's been almost a month since I called. My son won't be returning. I do hope your organization reads this and takes it seriously so other parents have a better experience than I did.

My daughters absolutely live the ballet program that is offered at the Briggs YMCA. The ballet instructor is so kind and explanatory and the children have so much fun! My son also loves playing in the kid zone while his sisters are in ballet class.

Trees Help Fight Climate Change: As trees grow, they help stop climate change by removing carbon dioxide from the air, storing carbon in the trees and soil, and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere. Trees provide many benefits to us, every day. They offer cooling shade, block cold winter winds, attract birds and wildlife, purify our air, prevent soil erosion, clean our water, and add grace and beauty to our homes and communities.

The YMCA is great place to workout and have some me time. they have cable TV , music, and other news programs to watch while working out. They also have a great weight room. Everything is available.Kettlebells, mats, and balls. The best part is all the classes run free, pilates ,yoga, and weight training. It makes it neat to work out.

Briggs YMCA is one of the more modern. They have a great facility clean maintained facility.
There are two main concerns:
1-Every once in a while one of the younger staff can be rather mean (if this happens - DON'T take it. Even if you aren't the type to confront - call the director explain what happened, how it made you feel, the issue will be dealt with quickly!! They don't want this gappening. Please know not all of younger staff are like that.)
2-DO NOT bring your wallet in, even if you get a locker/lock. Be Smart!
Not everyone who goes - is on the up and up and lockers can be opened.
Don't leave clothes, shoes, gear etc., out on the benches or common areas. The Y isn't responsible if your stuff gets taken because you left it out. And yes, some people DO want your smelly old sneakers; others just get ticked if you leave your smelly stuff out when they go to use the area.
Be Smart, use communal space etiquette, you don't own the space even if you are going to the showers - take your stuff out when you get back. You don't want the person rushing to a class tripping over your stuff.

I don't even know where to start. I recently moved to an area where this was the YMCA closest to where I live. When I entered they had limited staff there so there was a long line. My first impression was that this YMCA is not at all as nice as the one that I was going to in Gig Harbor. A very soon found out as I was reading the reviews in line that they only had one family changing room which means that I would have to go into the locker room full of kids staring at me naked and adults with given no privacy if that room is busy. That is not possible for me because I am paralyzed from the chest down leaving me a quadriplegic two years ago from a car accident. I need my nurse to be able to transfer me into a shower chair and shower me privately. We waited about 15 minutes for the single-family room to be open and I wasn't even transferred into my shower chair before there was banging on the door from a rude woman with three children trying to rush us out then we told her that it was probably going to be an hour trying to be nice so that she wasn't out there waiting. Not even 10 minutes later where was a loud banging and screaming at the door. My nurse and I didn't know what's going on so we stopped the shower and she went to the door peeking out the try to keep my privacy and it was a staff member named Shelly very rudely telling her that we only have 10 minutes per shower use and that we need to be out in 20 minutes. I have always thought that the YMCA was for all kinds of people including those with disabilities. I guess not at this YMCA. And not only that but the bathroom was disgustingly dirty. I gave back my key card and told them I will never be back. This is the most horrible experience I've had in a YMCA my whole entire life.

If you want your child to be a part of a swim team, don't bother calling! The aquatics director is horrible! They don't allow new kids to join their team unless an old member leaves. As a military family that constantly moves it's disturbing that this YMCA doesn't offer more children to participate in the program. I have BEVER been turned down from a swim team anywhere in the country till we called to get on this team! They could easily open up more practices and open up their team to more members! This team could make more money, but I guess that would also require more work on the ADs part and he doesn't want to bother!

I would like to know why the YMCA is taking monthly payments out of our bank account when we have no access to the facility? We are ALL under pressure and financial stress due to this disaster (covid 19) So would the YMCA mind telling me why they continue to take money from my family even tho the branch is CLOSED. I get that you need money to pay your bills.... But so do we.. Be honest and stop taking dishonest money from the families that pay every month for a membership to have ACCESS to a family facility!!! You are closed so stop taking payments until you re open the doors???? SIMPLE HONEST PLAN!!!
