Brittany Mcclain Review of Briggs YMCA

I don't even know where to start. I recently moved to an area where this was the YMCA closest to where I live. When I entered they had limited staff there so there was a long line. My first impression was that this YMCA is not at all as nice as the one that I was going to in Gig Harbor. A very soon found out as I was reading the reviews in line that they only had one family changing room which means that I would have to go into the locker room full of kids staring at me naked and adults with given no privacy if that room is busy. That is not possible for me because I am paralyzed from the chest down leaving me a quadriplegic two years ago from a car accident. I need my nurse to be able to transfer me into a shower chair and shower me privately. We waited about 15 minutes for the single-family room to be open and I wasn't even transferred into my shower chair before there was banging on the door from a rude woman with three children trying to rush us out then we told her that it was probably going to be an hour trying to be nice so that she wasn't out there waiting. Not even 10 minutes later where was a loud banging and screaming at the door. My nurse and I didn't know what's going on so we stopped the shower and she went to the door peeking out the try to keep my privacy and it was a staff member named Shelly very rudely telling her that we only have 10 minutes per shower use and that we need to be out in 20 minutes. I have always thought that the YMCA was for all kinds of people including those with disabilities. I guess not at this YMCA. And not only that but the bathroom was disgustingly dirty. I gave back my key card and told them I will never be back. This is the most horrible experience I've had in a YMCA my whole entire life.
