Horrible restaurant. Rude staff! unprofessional manager. This place is over rated. People mistake it for the real Brenners at the Bayou.

Awesome place, absolutely beautiful. You simply have to try the creole rib eye.
Classy, southern, quality. I must confess, it felt bad trying the turtle soup, but it was pure deliciousness They have a great selection of wine (Malbec)! Love the atmosphere. Great for business or a date! Guys, you must wear a jacket and some fancy pants! Oh, and don't leave without trying bananas foster made at the table with the rum and fire is the best in Houston (next to Eddie Vs)!!! Pralines are straight from heaven. Ladies, have your man take you here at least once in your life! Treat yourself!
The "Chili Oysters" (on the old menu) were delicious!
This was my first time going i ordered lemon drops, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and andouille sausage and chicken gumbo. My food had no seasoning. The amount of food you get is not worth the price. Gumbo was not what i expected it to be. Didn t have chicken and had about 6 pieces of sausage. The best part of dinner was the blackberry lemon drops. My bill was about $106, not worth it. I did have a good and friendly waiter. However, he was more attentive to other tables and was like he forgot we were there. We ended up waiting on the waiter to finally come back to the table after 30 minutes to take our orders!! Probably won t return. The staff, greeters and hosts were friendly, nice atmosphere, but the service i went was not acceptable.
I came here for date night a few months ago. I ordered the filet and it was cooked perfectly. They have an impressive wine list as well as a full cocktail menu. I would come here hungry - the food is great and you ll definitely want room for desert (we had the apple pie a la mode). Overall, a very memorable experience! Plus the gardens are lovely to walk through.
Food was spectacular Manuel is awesome, we had a great dining experience!
Brunch doesn't get much better than this. I highly recommend the Jazz Brunch offered here. Great music mixed with classic cocktails and a cajun menu can't be beat.
If you love high touch service, and food that is cared for, and well presented this is the place go to. I recommend the turtle soup, for one of the starters. They actually prepare the bananas foster right at the table.
The prices are on the higher end, but the food is excellent and the bar selections are wonderful. Don't forget to grab a few of the freshly made pralines on your way out the door.
My wife and I enjoyed a very nice dinner and drinks, food was good and service was great.
super disappointing first visit during restaurant wk. we arrived late on a sunday night and were excited about the menu offerings. the ambiance was quiet and romantic, and the restaurant was mostly empty so the atmosphere felt much more casual. dinner started off with the turtle soup, which was pretty good and had a lot of depth and flavor. the garlic bread was also sinfully delicious, although it probably consisted of more butter than flour. next came our entrees, a stuffed quail dish and a filet mignon entree. the quail wasn't bad, but was also nothing exciting. it was on the borderline of being almost dry, but still acceptable. the filet on the other hand, was hands down the worst one i've had anywhere! anytime i get steak, i always go for filet mignon, and i've had it prepared many different ways but always delicious. of course, some places serve it better than others, but i would say that i'd never had a bad filet mignon-- until my experience at brennan's. i ordered it medium as usual, but it was utterly dry and flavorless. there's not much else to say about it because it was that uninteresting. i never ever add salt to my food, and i found myself picking up the salt shaker at least a half dozen times. the mushroom sauce on top made a feeble attempt to add a touch of flavor, but even that was pretty much bland. i don't think the steak was overcooked because i could still see the pink despite the extremely dim lighting of the restaurant. i just think the quality of the meat was sub par and the seasoning was even worse. sigh... what a disappointment. dessert sealed the flop, with an anti-climatic tableside preparation of bananas foster (the table next to us got a giant flambe, whereas we got a whimper of a flame about 4 inches high). the bananas foster was just blah, and the bread pudding was way too alcoholic. the meal just kept going downhill, and was finished off with 2 pralines to take home, the same ones that they set out in mounds next to the hostess stand. i won't comment too much on the pralines since i think they're probably alright-- but even though i usually love any dessert, i'm just not a fan of that kind of thing-- where it's so sweet it makes your throat hurt. sadly, despite all the rave reviews about brennan's, i doubt i'll be back in the future. for a place as pricey as it is, i would expect the food to surpass cafeteria or bad-wedding food status. i will say that service was decent though, so at least there's that...
Been several times and most recently for Houston restaurant week. The menu, service and food were astounding. All starters were flavorful, the fish was on a different level and classic deserts. It isn't cheap and doesn't have a new buzz but it is a classic that continues to deliver.
Service was great. Good, drinks and dessert was outstanding.
Turtle soap was too salty. Generally and excellent place to dine.
The best for atmosphere and service. Food is great (I had flounder today) and there is no where better for bananas foster or PRALINES! A true Houston treasure.
I love the atmosphere and I liked the praline. My food was okay I would say that salt was needed. With a little more salt this place would get 5 stars. There pimento cheese grits tasted chalky and collard greens where to vinegary. I paid for the food but I really only wanted to pay for half of the food because I only liked half of my meal.
Excellent scene for creole. Prices that won't break you. Kinda of like a cafe in Phoenix that I enjoyed.
This place is divine with a wonderful wait staff, top notch three course meals, and a band if you're lucky. Their wine list is about 52 pages of heaven. The only thing I would have changed is that I felt the artichoke in my Eggs Benedict was a bit tough and bland comparatively speaking to the rest of the meal. I highly recommend their now world-famous Bananas Fosters!!! This place is a large wing-backed throne room for each guest with chandeliers and beauty sparkling in every corner.
Modern Take on Traditional Steakhouse
The service was excellent, albeit a bit intrusive. The veal chop, clam chowder, potatoes us gratin, mac and cheese with seafood, fresh bread, and deviled eggs with lobster were all prepared to perfection. Bill for 4 was $450 before tip. I very much look forward to a return visit.
creole, mmm, so delicious. Loved this place from the first taste. Staff treated us so nice. Prices that are reasonable. Feels similar to a restaurant in Philadelphia that I enjoyed visiting.
Went for Saturday brunch with family. We'd inquired in advance if there would be an a-la-carte option, and were told yes, we offer that option every weekend. At the restaurant, it was basically multiple prix-fixe options, where your entree included an appetizer and a dessert. When we asked about getting just an entree, they said sure, but it's the same price as three courses! That is not a la carte!! They need to stop misleading people by making this clear upfront when asked! The food was just okay - not worth the $34, in my opinion. The live music and setting were nice though.
When we walked in the hostess told us that it was a certain dress code but we were welcomed to sit at the bar or a table outside, when we walked over to the bar the bartender told us that we couldn't sit there because someone was sitting there (which nobody was, i think she didn't want us sitting at the bar because we're black ), we ended up sitting at one of the tables next to the bar. Our overall experience was okay, my food was really good (i got the Gulf Fish Pontchartrain) it was an easy 7 out of 10.. my girlfriend however wasn't too pleased with her meal (she got the Barbecued Grilled Shrimp Poboy), she said it was too cold and she didn't really want to complain. Mind you we're the only black ppl there. We got a pecan pie to share and it was amazing.
Brennan's is AMAZING!!! Had our baby shower event here, and the customer experience and professionalism was top notch. A major shout out to Wally, Angel, and the event manager, Nicole. Our guests loved the ambiance, and the food was to die for. Thank you for making our day Brennan's of Houston!!
creole at this place - yummy. Fast, efficient, and courteous service. Prices are fair I would say.
We all know Brennan s is phenomenal but check out Date Night Cooking class. It s a really great opportunity for networking and making new friends and especially would take the potential awkwardness out of a first date because there s a lot to talk about while the chefs cook for you in the front of the class. My husband and I loved this. We ll definitely be back for the rest of the summer series. So much fun!!
Love the creole food and the chefs are spot on in creating different recipes.
Just had the acorn squash, chicken and bacon soup. Always great service, which makes for a memorable experience.
Fantastic experience. Great entertainment. Lucked up and got the Houston restaurant week menu!!!
The food is incredible and the service is equally as good.
Good site for delicious Creole. I love it here. I look forward to a return visit. The bill was decent for the quality.
Went with a party of 10 with 7:30 pm Reservations. We had the Pickled Fried Green Tomato Ravigote and Snapping Turtle soup. The Ravigote was nice, essentially Fried Green tomatoes with chunks of Blue Crab. It s a small appetizer and will just whet your appetite. I d order it again. The snapping turtle soup was inedible. It was essentially a very very salty fishy soup. Several of us ordered this item and for us , on this day it was inedible. Everyone enjoyed their meals but nothing stood out. We had everything ordered from Quail to steaks to fish of the day. Dessert was Banana Fosters. Everything was Meh.
We paid and left at 10:45 on. The service was really really slow. It was a Saturday night, but they really needed to get their act together. I would not return here, considering the price, the quality of food and service did not measure up.
Lovely atmosphere, good food, stop by even just for the pralines!
A Houston Tradition for "special dining events". Voluminous wine list, exception seafood dishes. However the hidden gem is the happy hour
menu served in the Court Yard Bar. Enjoy a soup or petite appetizer and
an exceptional hand crafted cocktail. Dress is business or business casual.
A cut above for happy hour with a memorable snack.
Turtle soup was delicious, with a little bit of a kick!. The bananas foster is a classic knock out.
Always very good every time we swing by. The service is always top notch and I have never had a single complaint.
This place has always been a go to for holiday or special occasion celebration for my family. Amazing wait staff and food of course! The atmosphere is perfect for that cozy but fine dining feel.
Love Everyone and Everything, The cooks cook their hearts out, the Chefs treat you like family and the servers are friendly and unobtrusive
Fell in love with this place from the 1st taste. I've had nothing but great experiences here and will keep coming back. The prices are well within reason for the quality.
I recently visited Brennan's of Houston for the first time. I had heard it was something of an institution, and had relatively high hopes. The evening began in the bar area where service and selection were exemplary. I especially appreciated the variety of single malt options. Once dinner began, the experience waned significantly. The first course was not allowed to rest, and I wound up scalding my tongue. Granted, it was partly my fault. The main came and I had the privilege of picking shell fragments and various legs out of the bouillabaisse, and of beheading my seafood in the bowl. While I'm no stranger to the southern joy of the crawfish boil, I have no love for inedible items on my plate in a supposed fine dining establishment. I certainly don't want to clean crustaceans at the table. Full marks to the waitstaff, though. They performed very well.
So, to sum up, bar was exceptional, waitstaff were exceptional, and dinner gets a hearty... Meh. I don't foresee a second visit in the near future. Sorry, Brennan's.
This place is well past it's prime. The food was average, each crab dish had a lot of shells in it, the waiter was overworked as he was running around all over the place and clearly working hard but service was still terribly slow. The valley also informed me that they lost my key early in dinner. They finally found it, on the pavement, underneath another car. It looks like that car probably drove over it too because the key fob is terribly beat up. Now I need to spend $1000 to replace the key fob. Overall a very expensive night for average food and a trip to the car dealer this coming week.
Nice place with very good filet mignon and a large collection of wine but sadly it doesn't serve the right crowd. It was cold, and these four people God knows who (farmers exposed to fine dining the first time?) kept talking, and the valet person was too nice to ask them out loud to leave until I yelled "Whose truck was that?". It shouldn't be a problem if the street in front of the restaurant isn't too narrow and their pickup truck wasn't blocking the whole street. Everything was perfect until the very last moment. Customers make up the whole experience and this left a bad taste in my mouth.
If you need a little dose of New Orleans and who doesn't, Brennan's of Houston is my favorite. The food and the service is always excellent. The live music at brunch is the real deal! It's a great venue for a party or reception of almost any kind. Start with a bloody mary---the best or delicious coffee that is continually refreshed. I love the shrimp and grits, the Eggs Sardou, and the creole cheesecake. Everything, though, is delicious. We always reserve the tables with the comfy high back chairs. It adds a little privacy which is nice. I am a native Houstonian and good restaurants come and go, but great ones are lasting. It's a quick a trip to New Orleans! Don't miss it!
Horrible service. If you are looking for fine dining and great service, I suggest you choose another restaurant.
Creole and the scene at this place is super good. very tasty. looking forward to returning with my coworkers. bring your appetite because portions are filling.
I was able to make a trip over to Brennan's during Houston Restaurant Weeks for my first time since the fire, and things are just as the ever were. The staff is still polite and courteous offering impeccable service with a group of 3 to a section. The food is still prepared, plated and served in the same formal manner, and bananas foster is still prepared tableside. The building looks and feels no different than it did before with the same valet out front, and the same pralines near the host stand. Brennan's is consistently the same meal after meal, year after year. After all these years, my only complaint is that my medium rare steak was closer to rare, which is hardly a complaint at all.
Brennan's Is Nice, Quaint & Sophisticated! Enjoyed!
creole and service here is above par. Everyone at our table was quite pleased. Service is typically above par. Food and atmosphere reminds me of Atlanta.
Had a great time at Brennan s Houston. Amazing attention to details by all the staff. Great food and they made our special day even more memorable.
Seated near kitchen entry. Lots of wait-staff traffic... and questionable banter. Food was incredible and will say our waiters were great. Will certainly return.
My first visit and it was fabulous. The food was amazing. Customer service from the moment we walked into the restaurant until the moment we were leaving was exceptional. Kudos to the staff.
Did not live up to the hype. Entrees were cold and not as flavorful. Desserts were good though. Especially the beignets
Amazing Birthday Dinner
Delicious meats. The best I have had. The service was superior to anything I have experienced. First timer and I will be back.
Creole and service here is excellent. Great food with quality ingredients. Certainly worth a return visit.
This was one of the best meals I've ever had in my life! We came here for our one year anniversary and chef Jose just went above and beyond! Our servers were extremely caring and helpful, the atmosphere and the place left nothing but the feel of comfort and joy!
I have not been there in years. Found it quiet, and the food was excellent.
Very nice place for lunch and dinner with shuttle service to downtown theaters and shows
Our family has been going to this Houston establishment for over 40 years. Alex Brennan knows my father in law. So when my in-laws wanted to celebrate their 50th anniversity, they wanted to go to Brennans. Reservations were made and information was given about their anniversity. However, from the very beginning, everything was bad. The bar staff was being very noisy and when I said something, the bartender, rudely told me, "this is a bar" and proceeded to slam a shaker onto the bar. At the table, 7 were squeezed where 6 should fit and I got to sit in the walkway where my chair was kicked dozens and dozens of times, without one person apologizing. The wait staff was so non-attentive that I had to get up and find our own wine menu. 7 appetizer were ordered and 4 soups were luke warm. 7 dinners sat for over 1 minute next to our table and by the time we were served, 7 were luke warm to cold. My steak was like chewing rubber. After several minutes, my sister in law, finally got up to find a manager, because we hadn't seen our waiter, who came and got my plate and we never saw him again. After everyone else had finished their meals, several more minutes went by before the waiter finally came by to ask how everything was - TERRIBLE. Our family has enjoyed this establishment for decades but this with type of service, I think we are done. There are too many "nice" restaurants in this city to put up with this rude service and lousy food. Good Bye Brennan's.
Highly, highly recommend the Chef's Table experience. Amazing.
Fantastic food, amazing service! Very knowledgeable Sommelier and love the ambiance!
Enjoyed the shrimp and grits and had the Mississippi mud pie Nice atmosphere
Amazing Birthday Dinner
Delicious meats. The best I have had. The service was superior to anything I have experienced. First timer and I will be back.
Had the Jazz Shrimp Trio. The Etouffee Shrimp was ok. But both the blackened shrimp and the fried shrimp were good. Especially with BB's Chipotle Sauce that I requested additional. I also ordered a small portion of blackened redfish and it was ok.
Wonderful service with a smile and friendly faces with outspoken attitudes. Super Fantastic Meals.
Visited this place for the first time with a group of girlfriends on Friday, and it was such a great surprise. The food was not only very good, but the staff were so friendly and welcoming. I'll definitely be paying another visit there soon!
Food was very good, portions very small. Service was good.
I like to sit at the bar here. The dinning room is nice but stuffy. The outdoors are nice during the evenings in the summer.
A collection of small rooms provides a quieter and more cozy dining experience.
Excellent service, good selection of beer, unique, historical atmosphere.
Creole is a limited definition. New Orleans cuisine would fit better.
