Frites were overcooked and the temperature was wrong on my burger. I ordered the Winter V which had a good flavor profile but was otherwise unremarkable. Service was good but not noteworthy. Would give 2.5 stars if possible.

I love what Brasserie V has done with what is the old Relish Deli location. The beer selection is possibly the best in the city for my taste and the bistro food doesn't disappoint. Try the mussels and frites or the V burger. But try it all really. There may be a wait, but its worth it.

In the past, we ve always had great experiences here, but tonight we felt forced out 45 minutes before they closed by an incredibly rude staff member. We were lectured and insulted by an impolite bartender about how we needed to leave 45 minutes before the posted closing time. We were just trying to finish our drinks and pay before we left. We will not be going back.

The Belgian salad: I guess when I read "grilled endive" as part of the dish, I expect a nice chunk of grilled endive (right?) What I got were little strips of cold pre-grilled and, did I say cold, endive which was slimy because, well, cold. The frites were solid and hot and I enjoyed the dips included.

Had a late lunch here on a work trip and would go back in a heartbeat. The staff was super friendly and attentive, food is great and very reasonably priced (try the butternut squash soup) and an excellent beer selection (I recommend the Hacienda Western Movies).
Right next door to a great record shop that's also worth a visit (Strictly Discs)

This restaurant is one of the most unique places in Madison - a classic Belgian restaurant - and a special one to me and my family. My family is Belgian, and so I love getting old favorites here - croque madame, cassoulet, and of course, moules frites. My father even says that Brasserie V has the best moules frites he's had outside of Brussels, even better than Belgian restaurants in cities bigger than Madison. We keep coming back for the great Belgian beer and classic meals!

Great afternoon with my mom as we shared some items. The Belgian endive salad with bacon and we added some duck for a little extra. The small salad was big enough to share. I ordered a side of seared chickpeas with wilted spinach and goat cheese. It has a little spice (a bit too much for mom) but I found it great with the little bib lettuce to wrap it in.

Speaking from an experience of apps and beer only--quite satisfied. Worked our way through flights of beer tasting 4oz at a time. Great selection.
Update: after an equisite Carbonara Flamade lunch, I will keep coming back for more.

This place has become a regular stop for us! The beer selection is GREAT and if you re overwhelmed by options, you can always ask the server/bar.

I ve never ordered anything other than the mussels because I just can t get enough of em.

Often times it s pretty busy on the weekend. But there are great lunch deals! And it s always open seating at the bar.

By far my favorite restaurant in Madison, and the reason why I'm currently quite poor. They have great food and even better beer. I have only been here for dinner twice, where they really excel is their lunch menu. The sandwiches are all amazingly good, and for a pretty respectable price, between $8-13 for a fantastic sandwich. They're also less busy and have a more friendly staff around lunch as well. The beer is expensive imports mostly, but always worth it. You can find beers here that you've probably never heard of before, unless you're a really serious beerhead. No liquor/whiskey/mixed drinks though! Not that you'd need it. Plenty of beer and wine to keep 95% of people happy.

This place had great food. Everything was perfectly prepared and played very well. The only gripe I would have is there are no reservations, which could make it a little nerving having to wait to be seated. But all around the service and food was wonderful.

If you are a beer lover Brasserie is an excellent choice. I've also had some really delicious food here. The frites are wonderful and their smoked salmon BLT is excellent. Good service, nice comfortable atmosphere, I highly recommend.

Love this place...even if all we do is usually sit at the bar and drink beer and eat frites with tasty aoli! So many beers to choose from, and you can sample them too. Bartenders are knowledgeable. Food is always delicious, when we order more than yummy frites!

Brasserie V is one of my favorite restaurants in Madison. I've been here many times and never gotten the same entree twice, and they've all been fantastic. Their beer and wine selection is excellent, too. If you like Trappist beers, European farmhouse ales, and other uncommon imports, you'll find your niche at Brasserie V.

Oh - get the cheese plate, too.

Well this used to be 5 stars. And probably they deserve it for the food and the beer selection. But after today's experience being rudely evicted from the table to the tune of having food that we were picking at picked up from in front of us and my last sip of beer taken I think I'll retract that especially since there were no parties even waiting for a table.

Went there for lunch. Food and beverages were very good. Our waitress was not as attentive as she could have been. Had to go up to the bar to ask for coffee and she never asked us if we wanted dessert which we probably would have ordered. Will give them another chance.

Some of the highest quality food, drinks, and service in Madison. Somewhat pricey, and smaller portions, but for the quality it is thoroughly worth every penny. The frites, burgers, sandwiches, and stews are all some of the best in town.

I want to like this place more than I do. The food is good and they have a wide selection of beer from all over the world, but their prices are high and when we ordered food, the service was extremely slow. We will be back, but only when we have extra cash in our pockets and a lot more time to kill.

One of the best beer lists in the states. The prices may surprise some, but most of the brews are incredibly rare and limited (e.g., B.V. has Norwegian beers that are unavailable even in Norway). This place is an absolute must for any serious beer drinker

Absolutely the best we have had in Madison, great menu, sausage was delicious, locally sourced as was the chicken, which was cooked to perfection. Delicious right down to the french Press coffee with a chocolate cloud of wonder for dessert.

A gem for the neighborhood. It has a very select collection of Belgian and other imported beers. In addition, the bartenders and wait staff have always been awesome. The place has a menu which is not crazy long, it is short and purposeful. Definitely a place to showcase the madison dining and drinking scene. No cocktails, which sometimes keeps us from going here, but why not get a bottle of bubbly instead... This place is the place in madison to take someone to expose to good beer!

Our first time here. Came for lunch on the Friday before Christmas. Very, very busy with limited seating. 30 minute wait, but opted to sit by the windows overlooking the street.
Our server Debbie was fantastic. I asked her to recommend an ale or pilsner. It was great!!
My wife had the 1/2 sandwich and soup, and I had their burger with brussel sprouts slaw and their signature aoli sauce. Wow, fantastic!!! And their thinly sliced potato chips....amazing!!!! We'll be back!!!!
