Small menu- but delicious food! Great steaks, and delicious French onion soup. Service is always good. Can get very busy and don t take reservations. Worth the wait if you are a steak lover, appreciate an intimate small dining area and look for good service.

Amazing food. Party of four and not a single complaint. The chocolate torte is amongst the best desert I have had in Victoria. They manage to keep the strong cocoa taste without the usual grittiness that can accompany. Steaks were prepared perfectly. House made sausage was seasoned perfectly. Burger was delicious. They prepare a mocktail called the ginger snitch that was quite tasty. Overall, definitely worth lining up for a table. Will be back for sure
A true hidden gem of a restaurant. Love their food and atmosphere. Just be aware that they are small and fill up. Line up before they open so you can get first sitting.
My wife and I came here for our anniversary and we loved it. The food was comforting, tasty, and filling. We were actually quite impressed with the serving sizes. I expect to be back.
Great food for good prices. Wide range of wines and other beverages. Most of their ingredients are local and the menu is updated on a daily basis. Get there early if you want a good table, and on holidays or big events get there very early.
Casual and comfortable, while being amazingly delicious! The service was top notch as well. Just be prepared to find something to do while you wait for a table, as there are no reservations and the typical wait seems to be at least an hour. Our group planned ahead and had a location set up to go for a cocktail around the corner at Veneto, while we waited.
What a disappointment. You guys have ruined my anniversary. No reservations, no empty tables within the nearest hour. I understand you have some traditions or principles, but now it seems arrogant when you make people waiting under the door for hours. I have principles too - and will never come again.
Mark and his team did a great job. I will be back for sure! The mussels were brilliant, as was the chocolate torte, not to mention the great service we received.
I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone!
An incredible dining experience to be had here. Delicious food, a great wine menu, and very attentive staff. People generally line up here at least half an hour before it opens, and it is well worth the wait!
Favorite restaurant in town, even having only been there 4 times. The food, you cannot go wrong with it here. Perfect complements of appetizers, drink suggestions. If you can afford it, just go all out at this place. It is the best. Fantastic ambience too.
We had this place recomended many times by local friends. The food is great if you are looking for the best burgers in Victoria or a nice steak. We had the mussels and a burger with French fries and truffle oil. This combination is More
Spent 2 hours waiting at the front of the line for Valentines Dinner. This is the second time I have made this commitment to my wife to get a good seat. The food has always been amazing - I actually got the burger this time, and its probably my favorite dish on the menu, great service as well!
Excellent food, service and drinks. The staff and the owners always treat you as their own families. They understand the value of good experience and you will come out feeling it....
Superb French cuisine. Excellent staff. Standing in line by the door 20 minutes before they open will assure you a table, they take no reservations. Quaint and small, this restaurant's dining experience is well worth your wait.
Excellent place to go for great food, a lively atmosphere, and a reasonably priced meal. They don't take reservations and we had a show to go to afterwards, so we decided to sit at the counter(we were offered a table during our meal but were comfortable so we stayed there). We had a couple of appetizers: cheese filled dates & a crispy croquette, french onion soup, and tuna with greens. Everything was delicious and original
Great experience! First time dining tonight celebrating a birthday, and the server made sure to bring a special birthday dessert out for us! Excellent service and some of the better steaks we ve had in town - definitely try the truffle frites if you can, they are worth every penny!!!
The dinner for 2 is a real treat: 36oz dry-aged steak cooked to perfection with mushrooms and a brandy cream sauce. The wine list is small but well curated and the prices are very reasonable.
We came around 7 p.m. on a Tuesday evening and got a table for two. My bride had chicken liver pate with sweet pickles mustard and bread. I got the cheesy, thick French onion soup. Both were delightful.
The atmosphere was cozy, convivial and conversational.
I spotted the pork chop with spaetzle and red cabbage. We're coming back here again when we're really hungry.
Absolutely outstanding dinner tonight and the great warm service from Mark and his team. My go to endive salad was spot on and refreshing followed by the velvet flavor of the perfectly cooked salmon. Quick seating for 1 at the bar (I lucked out...they had one spot left). Great service from the bar and wait staff. Outstanding dinner that reminds me why it's my favorite restaurant in Victoria. Thanks Mark. Keep up the great work.
Elegant and upscale, this wonderful gem will take you on a culinary journey. The food is absolutely delicious, with attention to detail in every dish, the knowledgeable staff will help you in pairing your food with the best wine possible. I m vegetarian and they still had beautifully crafted dishes that suited my needs. Don t skip out on dessert either!
Cozy, but quite humming little spot! They don't take reservations, but they have a great system in place to let you know when your table is ready. Hit a local pub for a drink while you wait! The food and service were both excellent! We had the figs stuffed with blue cheese and walnuts. Small bites, but very tasty. My wife and I then split the 16oz Ribeye steak with regular fries (there is a parmesan/truffle oil version) and we still had leftovers! The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare, as we requested. The wine and beer list are very French and Belgium based respectively with many, many good options. The only odd thing was that they charged us $2 to bring out a second plate for us to split the Ribeye dish. Seems a bit much considering our bill total at the end of the meal.
I've travelled far for the perfect steak and very pleased to learn that this is hands down the best steakhouse in town. A pleasure to dine here. Thank you Brasserie L'Ecole!
Really enjoyed my meal, I had the 10 oz steak, it was so juicy and tender. All the food at the table looked amazing, the dishes came out as hot as what was being served it was nice. The atmosphere was wonderful, not too dark and not very loud. We managed to conveniently be by the restaurant and there was an open table (did not plan on coming here). I will definitely come back again!
Hands down, the best burger I have ever had. I know, sounds ridiculous. But I ve had many burgers, in many cities. The Brass Burg is, with out a doubt, the most consistent, delicious, simple, but perfect burger. Day in, day out. Add Fancy Fries to complete the experience.
This is one of the finest restaurants in Victoria. We've been here several times and always make a point to have dinner here every time we're in Victoria. We've had a variety of meals and drinks and have never been disappointed.
I've never had a burger be so gourmet in my life, and only so amazing for the quality of the meat used. Blown away every single time I go. Usually put the name down for a seat then grab a drink elsewhere as its a small venue but worth it.
So amazingly good! My colleague was talking up the endive salad for days before we came - and it lived up to the hype. Impeccable food, delicious cocktails and amazing service
Came here with my brother-in-law for a quick bite. Was crazy busy, but we got the last spot at the bar - our preference anyways!
We split a bottle of wine, got burgers, and split some clams for an appy (Wanted mussels has I heard they are insanely good, but unfortunately they were not on the menu that night).
Bartender was very friendly and just the right amount of "social". Not too chatty, but she held a few brief conversations which is perfect when sitting at the bar.
Food was amazing, although the atmosphere would have been better suited to go with my wife - place is a bit too romantic for a couple buddies! ;)
I would certainly go back and highly recommend it.
My first time visit today and will definitely be back. Just heard this establishment from a co-worker whom rated it 9/10 and I can personally agree 100%. Its a 4 star experience since I got some suggestion with maybe I think can help their establishment to be more creative. However, people love their menu. Foods are healthy and nice as the price is reasonable.
Love this place. Go here every year for my birthday and any other chance I can squeeze in as well. Love the steak and frites and Belgian beer selection. Great atmosphere as well.
Best restaurant in town, they don t take reservations so plan ahead. They will take your number though and you can go grab a drink elsewhere while you want. Not recommended for big groups, just due to their size and getting in isn t easy. But fantastic for a quiet date nights, casual evening with friends or even business meeting.
We had a Delicious French meal here. Great ambiance, very cute brasserie. Our meals were cooked perfectly to our liking and the wine was coupled nicely.
Very happy with everything. (Also it was my birthday)
Perhaps the best kept secret in Victoria. Very tasty menu with a focus in the classics ...some with a twist. The wine list is very extensive and lots of offers by the glass. We had the fois gras and moules frites paired with Vouvray sec and Macon Lugny. No room for dessert so we'll have to go back. Didn't break the bank either. Thank you guys. Really memorable.
My husband and I had an early Valentines dinner. The food and service was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Best to lineup early for a table but so worth it.
Been here four times in the last year and each time it's equally as good. The last two times I've had the burger which is the best in town. By a mile. Far better than anything that other trendy gourmet burger joint pumps out.
The service is excellent and I love the ambience of the room.
I used to love coming here for the drinks and the service, unfortunately last night I had to ask for water 3 times and the ribeye was... I was really disappointed. The burger is always amazing, do yourself a favour and stick with the classics. Sorry brasserie but you're only as good as your last meal and I will be thinking twice about waiting 2 hours for tough steak and chewy duck. The drinks were great as usual.
