Boardwalk Beach Resort Review

Views where nice but the rooms are outdated and also have bed bugs.

The rooms are backwards with the beds near the entrance door to the room and the living room furniture near the balcony window facing the beach.

My boyfriend and I stayed here recently the weekend of April 19-21 and we were in the main tower room 840 our room was small but enough room for the both of us, the room was clean staff was great housekeeping made sure that we didn t need anything and we spent a lot of time in the room being it was cold on the day we came down the only downside was that it took forever to check in bring it was only 2 people at the front desk other than that I would most definitely stay again!!!!!

Cockroach infested. Rooms were not as pictured. Spent one night to wake up to cockroaches. Only booked room two days, but ended up leaving a day and a half early when we saw roaches. The manager did give us our money back when I threatened him to call healthboard, chamber of commerce and police.

Well I have a reservation for today and I am already dreading the stay here. I called today because I have a reservation for 6 adults and 4 children. We of course can not fit in one car so, I called to ask for a 2nd parking permit. Of course the manager an sewers the phone without introducing his self or giving his name. Then he tells me of course that I can only have one permit and does not even take time to check and see if he can possibly give another one. He starts laughing at me and being very rude. Tells me he is done with my conversation. When I ask for another manger he says he is the only one there. Forgive me but if you are full how come you can still make reservations? He did not even take time to check. By the when the reservations were made they said we should not have an issue with more than one parking permit due to it being 6 adults. So we were pretty much lied too since before reservation.

Place is okay. Acceptable rooms in about the condition you would expect at the pricing offered. Could definitely use a facelift

Outdated hotel, with sketchy indoor appearance. The walls are paper thin. Beds and pillows were rock hard and not comfy at all. They give you an actual key and charge you for that too. Elevator did not seem fast nor would it lineup with the bottom of the floor half the time. When I got there I was charged an additional $200 cash fee that was never brought up to me when I booked just because I was under their age limit. There is no refunds for early checkout, no breakfast. Was told it was near a bad area. Not very friendly staff when I checked in or out. You get what you pay for and this is a prime example.

Enjoyed or stay. The only complaint is that the carpet needs cleaning. We had an efficiency room and everything was good.

I ve never had a bad hotel experience except for this one. Starting with the bathroom ceiling leaking from a broken pipe line above us, then moving is to a new room to see there is no power in the room whatsoever. We spoke the lady s in the front desk and they said if we wanted a new room there would be an up charge when none of these problems were our fault. Moved us up to the top floor to then find the toilet not working and now the keys to the room are jammed. Super long story short, save your money and sanity and don t stay here.

Usually stay here during Mustang Week..but last year was just too noisy with another group there revving motorcycles all day..all night.
.complained...it continued...sorry...will be staying elsewhere next year...will miss our sweet Edna...her smile always made my days...

Do not stay here its HORRIBLE! I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Stay there for a night, bed wasn't the most comfortable. Please look kind of old and could have been kept up a little better in my opinion. They still use old metal keys instead of access cards and hold a deposit on every key. The bedding was old style, pretty much seems like this hotel is stuck in the 80s/90s. Not a horrible place for a night or two but I wouldn't exactly recommend it.

Huge mistake!!!! Asked for full refund 1 hour after arrival and was denied, was told they would have to charge for one night.Manager Alex was NOT helpful and unprofessional. They overbooked on the busy weekend we stayed and we got the wrong room! Pictures on website misleading. Only one parking pass issued, they had to have keys made for our room upon arrival. Room is discussing, outdated, no phone in room, broken lights, roaches, went to CVS to buy lysol spray asap, cant wait to check out!! DO NOT SPEND MONEY HERE, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!

Great view of the ocean and the staff was so helpful

I rented through vrbo with a private owner, but the resort is awful. No disinfecting throughout the day at elevators and public areas, no monitoring the amount of people in the pool, feces in the stairwell. I have not seen any staff walking around except to put up umbrellas on the lawn and when the elevators weren t working. Even the employee that came to work on the elevator had his mask around his neck even though he was walking into a group of mostly unmasked people. A fraction of people were wearing masks on elevators or social distancing, despite it being a city ordinance. No ocean air on the balcony, just the smell of marijuana. No working sprayers to rinse off coming back in from the beach, so you re bringing sand back up into each unit. It s pretty sad that you post that you re following guidelines to ensure the safety of guests just to get them to book out here, but really no one is doing that.

Nice atmosphere clean on the beach front free parking

This a great spot in Myrtle Beach. We have been coming for years! Great pools with a fun lazy river and a spot for everyone in the family: jacuzzi to kiddie pool. Beach is down the path. Great ocean views! Very accesible bars and restaurants within walking distance.

My Mom checked into this hotel this afternoon and after she paid was informed that the pools would close at 6pm . I called the front desk at the boardwalk and was informed this was correct per Myrtle Beach curfew. But curfew is 12am anyone under 18 what does this have to do with pool

People were smoking in non-smoking rooms could not breathe in our room contacted front desk said they were sorry

The most amazing view on the beach. One of only a couple hotels along the strip that have a lighted beach, pools! Hot tubs! And lazy river were awesome.... my first time to the beach. Stayed a whole week loved it. Rooms were always clean. Spacious. And loved the view.

We stayed here June 3rd 2016 to sun jun 5th for our 17 anniversary this is a nice spot if u want just see beach but to stay is omg the oldest resort and smells and beat dwn place I've seen I a while we want be back that's for sure. Its no place to come stay on vacation or special time maybe a fishing trip.I told them about room said well if u dnt lik were u at u want lik other side its worse. They need a upgrade forreal and beds lik brick.so dnt let the website fool you look at reviews.and one more thing this place still uses keys that should tell you how old it is.and for 150 nite.

Was looking to find out rates for a family member and they were able to find a really great rate as well as find how to best accomedate the large group. Really friendly staff.

The rooms are extremely dated and smelled bad. We chose that hotel because of the pool and it closed early. That would have been nice to know before hand. For the price I would not recommend staying there

the hotel was perfect for the one night stay , not sure that I would recommend for longer than a weekend. We were in the older building and the carpet smelled a bit musty and the beds were not very comfortable

This hotel is disgusting and so unsanitary. We haven't even slept here yet and we walk in the hotel to nasty walls and the elevator is squeaky. and the bed blankets look so old and nasty and our room smells like poop

We had a great stay! The rooms and pool were clean and well kept. The beach and view were inbeatable!

Worse hotel i have ever stayed in. Was not safe balcony door or windows did not lock front door barely locked. They knew I had three kids one being 10 and severely autistic and nonverbal. Had to leave a day early because we were not safe in that room told the staff at the front desk they could care less

Hotel needs to be updated some . Carpets inside rooms especially....... Beds need fitted sheets ,No one wants to touch a hotel mattress. But overall it was fine

Poor poor poor. From the start , at check in till time we left ( with another night still left). Bed unsleepable, no linens AT ALL, tried to change rooms to no avail. Junk

This motel this motel idek where to start! First of all I never received anything through email after reserving the room besides where I paid my deposit. Then the day we were heading there I called to ask how many beds were in the room and they had problems finding my reservations I was told 2 but got there it was 3 which caused us to spend Unnecessary money on a air mattress to accommodate evryone(it was a family trip with kids) lady told me on the phone check in was at 3 got there at 6 the room was not ready there were soany kids roaming the area being loud the smell of weed and alcohol was beyond strong we left to go eat they told us they would call us once the room was ready but we had to call them we got checked in about 9pm the room was clean but could've been cleaner all weekend they did not bring up more clean towels get the trash or bring up more toiletries. The pool was nasty! The indoor and pit and it was over filled with people who overall this was far most the absolute WORST VISIT OF MY LIFE AND I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!!

The North Tower is horrible!! Only stay if you can book the Main the tower. Booked my reservation over the phone .Agent mentioned that the room was older,but what she should have said is older and need to be knocked down. First of all when I first checked in you have to pay a $5 fee to rent a key,and $1 For bracelets for each person to enter the pool this was not mentioned when I booked. However they did mention a $15 resort fee not sure what it covers. When the key wouldn't work for room should've knew it was a bad sign. Offered to put in the main tower for my second night but wanted me to pay extra money!!! Manager seemed to not even care, just kept saying the price was the cheapest on the beach for oceanfront. These rooms should no more than $60 a night.I have stayed here previously but never had a bad experience. This will probably be my last time!

It was nasty. Roaches crawling on the wall. And the microwave blew the power out in they would not come in fix it till the next day. Time for check out. They were very rude. I would not recommend this place.

This place is beautiful. Ocean front view and clean, nice rooms.

After reading the reviews I decided to give this hotel a chance and it was the worst decision I could have ever made!!!! The rooms were very outdated, the beds were broken, the rooms are very small and nothing like the pictures online, it had a small air conditioner that was high on the wall to the point we had to stand on the bed to change the settings, the only thing separating the rooms was a sliding door no other type of privacy, one tv for 2 bedrooms, the housekeeping staff attitude was very nice but they continue to knock on your door regardless of what you are saying and if they feel you are not answering the door fast enough for their liking they would try to enter your room without any warning nor permission, when cleaning your room the would be out of everything so then you hand to contact the front desk to get the missing items/supplies you needed which would take an hour to get, the indoor pool that was listed on the website was not open at all, you have to pay for each room key you get (which is refundable after you checkout), and certain parking lots you had to pay to parking. I would NEVER stay at this hotel again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very big mistake when down to spend the weekend with my grandson and his mother . They only have one inside pool and one hot tub and on top of that I left my expensive ear phones in room number 637 and I called to see if they were turned in by housekeeping noone turned them in so I guess there not paying there staff enough of money because instead of my headphones phones getting turn in they decided to keep them for themselves. Please express to your staff how important it is to be honest and let them no that someone else property is not their property. Whoever cleaned up room 637 you got a great gift. I strongly recommend that noone stay at the Boardwalk Resort i give them a 1 star.

As with any other older hotel across the coast there's nothing spectacular about this place... It's a decent place to stay but over priced.

I have stayed there a few times but I must say the treatment I expierenced this weekend, I will never go back. I reserved 8 rooms for different family members. Once we arrived all the rooms were correct except one. The person at the desk claimed that no deposit was paid on the room and that we had to pay for the room in full. Once I realized that we had just paid too much explained to them that the price we paid was wrong and they actually owed me money. I kept a record of all the prices quoted, confirmation numbers, who I talked to, amount owed when we arrived. The manager came out took my paper and made a copy of it and told me she would be back. I sat in the lobby almost two hours waiting for someone to explain to me what was going on. Eventually the girl at the front desk just walked up to me and handed me the money I was owed. The manager never came back out to explain what happened, apologize or anything. Totally unprofessional and my family will never stay there again.

Not a good experience. We stayed in a corner room (739). There had been a toilet leak in our room. Water standing in the master bathroom floor. It had leaked into the room and the carpet was soaked, creating an awful smell. Not sure how the cleaning staff overlooked this. Only thing I can say good about this place is the maintenance they hired to find the leak and soak up the water from the carpet was friendly. Our room was booked through Elliott Beach Rentals and not through Boardwalk Resort Hotel. Same building. The overall condition upon check-in gave us a dirty feel. I would suggest staying somewhere else.

Couldn't make a reservation.. I was told that it didn't matter if i reserved a stay or not that they usually have a full house anyway so basically my business isn't appreciated they could care less if I stayed or not . i asked to speak with the manager and was told absolutely not and got hung up on ... i called back and the manager lied about the accommodations and said whatever when i told her i was going to complain .. the front desk associate that works behind the desk his name is J . he is a rude ass if ive ever talked to one ... if only the owner knew about his customer service .... his business wont last long id rather go pay more money and get treated better , t-.-t middle fingers to you guys you just lost out on 500$

Fun place! You can shop, get on the rides, be amused but the creative upside-down building... etc, etc. Lots of fun!

This is our 3rd year staying there in March and each year it gets worse and worse. We paid this year almost 600 for a 2 bedroom oceanfront room. Stayed in south tower 2. Get there kitchen cabinets are falling apart, go to sit on bed box spring goes to the floor. Sit down for dinner and kill 4 roaches! Go down to try and switch rooms they have none they can move me to (then she tells me to come back in the am and talk with the manager). Go to the workout room to find dead roaches everywhere in floor and a moldy towel in corner that looks like it s been there since last year. Go down next am manager won t come speak to me (she s busy). Only thing they could offer was discounted rate. Go back upstairs to find hot water knob broken in shower, toilet runs all night and won t flush trip just keep getting worse and worse. I ask for more pillows they bring me ones that have blood stains on it! I travel with a group of 45 each year this time and everyone knows what I went through trust me! Doors slamming all through the night. We had our kids with us and the only thing you could smell was weed. I wouldn t let my dog stay in there. Save your money and book somewhere else!

This place doesn't even deserve a 1 out of 5 the service sucks the rooms are over priced for what you get. I payed a lot of money for a ocean view and ended up with a sidewalk view so disappointed.

VERY DISAPPOINTED- I had stayed in a few different resorts in Myrtle Beach. I decided to stay here for a change and friends just happen to be next door in another resort. Overall IF the price to stay was $150 a night ($275 is what it was), it would have been more worth it. This place tries to cut corners in so many areas. I just assumed that since the price was this high it was as nice as the Bay Watch Resort with kids activities and nice surroundings. Sure the pools are just fine but no pool towels. The rooms are ok but the kitchens are retro 70's. Why put a whirlpool tub in a not so nice room? I wish they would have put the money into the room. NO kids activities like the other resorts. You have to pay for room keys and bracelets for the place (refunded at the end) but if you lose them you are charged. It was just an overpriced hotel. I called the hotel because we weren't stocked with extra toilet paper. They said they didn't have any staff available to bring it to us and we would have to come across the street to get it-- At night when you are all in for the night, this was disconcerting and troublesome since it was their fault that the cleaning crew didn't put enough in the first place. I brought my handicapped sister down for maybe her last ocean trip since she will be on dialysis soon and going away will get harder. I wanted her to feel the luxury of the other resorts we have used and I spent the first two days apologizing and letting her know I made a mistake. So sad.

I accidentally rated it 5 stars because I thought it said, literally anything besides this hotel, for the love of god, if you decide to go on vacation here please, I beg you, do not check in to this hotel, oh my godddd this hotel room sucked so bad the elevator is gonna break and kill us all, the room service doesnt even exist and if there was a 0.1 star review I would give it to it, because the only good thing of this whole place is the beach and the pool, NECT DOOR

My fiance and I went to the American Taphouse for drinks after dinner where we ordered a couple cocktails off the cocktail menu that were very good. We then went to Fat Tuesday where we had a couple frozen daquiris that we make a point to do every time we visit Myrtle Beach. Then we went to another bar across from Malibu's where they were having karaoke that was entertaining to say the least!

It is beautiful and it is next to the beach its pisinas are super I love it

We stayed here from September 17th to the 19th 2015. We stayed in the bulding that had the inside pool. The motel is a little outdated but overall the room was clean and the beds were comfortable and it is a beautiful view oceanfront! And not a bad price to come with WiFi & the pools and lazy river & jacuzzi and the fitness room. We hardly ever stay in a motel we usually go to ocean lakes We do plan to stay here next time that we come down early like we did this time! I do recommend this place!!

Stayed here this past weekend in the south tower Rm.220 .Room was terrible!!!!The carpet was dingy,microwave and stove both need an upgrade.Heat would not work when I checked in,but we didn't find that out until after we'd opened the sliding glass door to look at the waves and it came off track .Would not close.
Called front desk and they were gone for the night.It got down in the 40's that night .The next morning call down and got hung up on twice trying to get something done.Finally got maintenance sent up and they had to replace entire heating unit and put door back on track.Soon as they left the t.v started messing up and the shower stopped up.Had to get maintenance to come back 4 different times only to have the sliding glass door mess up again once they were gone.Maintenance guys were very understanding though.Boardwalk should have these rooms checked prior to renting.Dust was thick as saw dust on the chairs so I know this one hadn't. Terrible Experience!!!!!!

It's fun and a good view of the Beach and the waters. And so much more places near it, too.

Dirty sheets, lumpy pillows and very thin walls. Horrible elevators, loud music, horrible weed smell everywhere. Dirty hallways. Coffee makers but no coffee. No blow dryer. Vending machines took my money and they were out of everything. All around NASTY!!

Not the best hotel to stay at! Time me and my Husband got in the room the heat wasn t working. In stead of giving us a new room so we could have our privacy being we just got there. They change the whole unit while we was in there. To top it off we go to lay down so we checking the bed for bed bugs like we do at every hotel we stay at. Blood was all over the bed I took pictures and everything. By that time I was over it and slept on the couch in a hotel i spent a 100$ a night to stay at. When I showed the front desk his reply was yeah it s time for a new bed! I refunded you 5$ back. This hotel needs to do better and if you stay here I hope your stay was better than ours.

Horribleeee . Nasty Beds. The Wifi Sucks & Is Slow . I Seen 2 Bugs In The Bathroom, On The TOWELS. Its Like A 1990s Kitchen. Its Filthy. Stinks , Smells Like Cigarettes In The Rooms . The Carpet Is Nasty. The Elevator's Are Hot & They Stink, One Is Broke. The Halls Stink. I Seen Nasty Stuff In The Corner Of The Shower. Stained Walls . Beds Are Hard & Are Filthy. I Would Not Recommend Anybody To Come Here.

Budget beach hotel. Nothing fancy. No complaints. The rooms are older, but I didn't go expecting a 5-star resort.

We read reviews before booking and the reviews were not great but for less than 3 digits per night it was just what we needed. Upon booking it was clear that some of the reviews were just a bit unfair. So here is my take away. We stayed in the North Tower
1-The staff I encountered were friendly
2-Yes the carpet is outdated and worn. But it is Myrtle Beach and not North Myrtle. All the hotels and building here are old. We didnt come to admire the carpet.
3-Pools close at 6pm which is posted on the elevator doors.
4-Elevators old but function
5-Pools were clean
6-Great beach access
7-Bed was not uncomfortable
8-AC worked fine, and we had a balcony so we could let in the ocean breeze if it did get stuffy
9-Odor of Marijuana at times but I always come prepared when on vacation with air freshener because let's face it all hotels end up smelling in one way or another.
Over all the place was good. No extravagance but we didnt expect it. If you are going to complain about trivial things be prepared to pay for more and go to that place. Don't leave negative comments when you get what you pay for.

The room was the perfect size for my family of 6. The view was perfect... The pool was awsome... I guess because I went through a private owner I didnt receive any service.. No new towels... The worst part if it all THE ROACHES took over the kitchen... They were everywhere.... BUILDING DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE UPDATED #NEVERSTAYHEREAGAIN #SUMMERVACATION #2019

Stayed at the south tower. Room was dated but was okay for what we needed. Service though REALLY needs improvement

Ocean front , two balconies, hair dryers , full kitchen with coffee pot and toaster. The 4th floor is great.

I recently booked a room for the Thanksgiving holiday we had a suite with the jet tub, I loved the layout of the room my oldest son had his own room with a bigger tv lol overall this is like the first hotel resort that was fully equipped (accessorized ) down to the T...coat rack, vacuum cleaner, dishes, broom & dust pan, etc. this was very important to me the fact that I had kids that like to make a mess and knowing me I don t like a messy room soo yeah this was a plus and the oceanfront view was amazing. The only problem we had was when we came from my moms house our keys didn t work we had to wait a good 20-25 mins for maintenance and front office to switch the lock luckily we were leaving the next day and they was able to get us in our room.

Where do I even begin? Think of this, you go on vacation to sleep in and enjoy your alone time right? Well this hotel dosent believe I that I guess. Because at 9AM when your asleep you get a knock at your door and it's the house keeping demanding to come in and search your room and restock your items. Weather you want them in or not. There coming in. We told them we didn't want any services but they demand to come in. Secondly, the security guard is a complete A-hole. We were a couple of teenage kids and did nothing wrong the whole trip. But apparently he dosent like kids and he stalked us the entire 4 days we were supposed to be there. Every turn in that hotel he was walking by and when we went to sit on the balcony there he was below us watching us. Notice how I said supposed to be there 4 days. We left a day early because of how bad this hotel was. And as you can guess we did not get our money back. Everything in the hotel was low quality from the weed smelling hallways to the broken down elevators where you fear your life when you go in them, to the rooms being so dirty feeling they send you home. So please, do some more research and find a new hotel.... Please.

First off it was not what we expected the room that we book online was not the room that we got once we arrived we was there for 4 days and had no other options nor vacancies within the price that we booked on this resort, we dealt with it because of my birthday weekend and the 4th of July. the bathtub kept getting stopped up, the toilet ran the whole 4 days, the sink you turn the faucet on and the water runs down on the floor, maintenance came and fixed the sink and he changed and put a new stopper in the tub to keep it from stopping up apparently it didn't work. then we also had no TV in the front room but there was a cable hookup, so we aunt out to walmart and purchased a tv to watch and the front played more channels them the living room did. the TV in the living room most of the channels was static. then we go to the elevator it was hot in the inside of the elevator it also took us forever to get on the elevator there was one elevator per building. We could never find a cart to unload or load our food and luggage, house keeping said we would have to go floor to floor to look for a cart because it wasn't many. then the parking garage stop working we had to walk six floors up to get our car in 90 + degrees temperature. I enjoyed my weekend with my husband for my birthday but I did not enjoy the service at the hotel that we was in once we got to the hotel the receptionist tells us when we booked online we should have called the hotel first and we would have known exactly what rooms were available and what was online or only the suites units so we was assuming that what we booked online which was a suite, not knowing once we got to the resort we was put into one of the old buildings which was terrible.
