Husband had surgery and has a tube in his side for drainage..Leaked all over his bed and couldn't get any help so he climbed out of bed BY HIMSELF and sat in the chair til someone came 2 hrs. later !! Dr. Polder is the ONLY person that explains what's going on and the nurses don't give a damn !!
If you need them they will be in a group laughing and joking and you have to go into the hall and YELL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My son had to stay in the special care nursery for over two weeks. The doctors they had taking care of him basically brushed off what he had saying we don t know what it is, it just happens. The nurses, ESPECIALLY the night shift nurses did not want to do their jobs. They complained about opening up door to parents, not wanting to change my son s diaper when I wasn t there. He had a severe diaper rash. I do not recommend this hospital at all.

I went to the hospital for routine bloodworm. The hospital charged me $405.02 for the testing. When I checked the pricing at a local external lab the cost would have been approximately $20. Over 20 times the cost for the same tests, this is outrageous. The hospital charges these obsene amounts because they can. No one knows or is informed of what the prices would be prior to services being rendered. I would definitely recommend people look into using external labs over the hospital. People need to demand that fiscal responsibilty is practiced by hospitals and doctors alike to keep medical costs affordable.

Poor communication. Billing department didn't send my wife's precertification for her stress test when we were told so. At the time of the procedure, they make you sign that you are responsible for payment. Needless to say, we were stuck with a $2000 bill.
Don't get us started on my wife's misdiagnosed UTI and cdiff that was not ruled out on two separate ER visits.
I'm sure they do a good job there but I can only comment on our experiences from Blanchard.

Saved my life, too! Superior doctors, friendly and caring staff. I've spent an awful lot of time in infusion, testing, blood draws, x-rays, and all kinds of stuff. The best hospital I've ever been in!

You who complain should have experienced some of the hospitals I've been in. You want horrible, I'll be happy to name them and tell you why. We need to be thankful we have such an awesome hospital right here in Findlay.

I had my baby here in March of 2018. My experience was absolutely wonderful. The nurses, the physicians, the food. Everything was top notch and beyond my expectations. The staff was patient and kind and made sure we were equipped with everything we needed to go home with our new bundle of joy.

Just had my first extended stay at Blanchard Valley for the birth of my third child and it was an amazing experience, everyone from the dietary department to the OB nurses and my surgeon were so attentive and caring. I wish my first two hospital experiences could have been as great.

Postpartum is a joke. I hear 7 babies alarms going off and 3 babies screaming yet the nurses just stood around talking about the puppy another worker was getting. Nurses have attitudes and are not friendly. Rooms are small and not private at all. Coming from the Toledo hospital to here was disappointing.

Waste of Time and Money!! The doctor did not even exam me for my concern for going to Physicans Plus. She gave me a token diagnosis and kept saying to go to the emergency room or my primary care provider. She needs to review the Basics of PreMed 101--listen to your patient. This facility has a very limited medical capacity. It is a "Band-Aid Station"; it reminds one of going to the "School Nurse". AVOID THIS BUSINESS!!

Horrible experience, never have I been to a hospital this unprofessional, nasty and outdated. I found the doctors uninformed and lazy. Everyone seems so lost. I made a request with Kristina Junge the Patient Relations advocate who was not understanding and very unhelpful with no effort to accommodate. I'm shocked this facility is still operating. Definitely AVOID this hospital. It s called Death Valley Hospital for years for a reason. Go here to die, not if you want to live. Actually, I'd even be afraid to go here to die because they would mess that up too.

I had my baby at blanchard valley hospital. The drs were great. Some nurses were great some were plain aweful. I didnt get my meds at a consistent time they forgot to give me some of my meds sometimes and I had to ask or they remembered later. They messed up all of my son's information his records say that hes a female. They even put the wrong time that he was born and the wrong weight. It irritates me at how careless a hospital is with a babys information.

My wife delivered our baby here. She was a little early so we spent about 2 weeks in the Special Care Nursery. The staff was all very friendly. We were provided a boarder room so that we could stay near our child while she was in the nursery. We were allowed to visit 24/7 and felt fairly comfortable with the nursing staff. The 4 different pediatricians that were on rotation sometimes had slightly different opinions and definitely have different styles but all were helpful in their own way. Support services (cafeteria, housekeeping, etc.. ) were pretty good compared to other hospitals in the area. Reasonably priced and decent food. The only reason for 4/5 is that when we first arrived we spent a lot of time sitting around waiting for transport and information.

I am currently in ICU and BVHS. I needed a blood transfusion as my hemoglobin levels were very low. The staff in Th ER were amazing and new exactly what they were doing. When I was transferred to ICU the staff could not be more helpful and attentive! They are all so sweet and knowledgeable! This is the first time I've been admitted to a hospital and was very nervous, they have put my nervousness on the back burner. Would highly recommend this hospital!

The theme of this review is "not my problem." This...

The theme of this review is "not my problem." This is the attitude I got from day one to when I informed their staff I would no longer be attending any of their facilities due to the seriously lack of internal communication.

When it came time to receive certain procedures , I was told I had to contact my insurance company to see what is covered - fine - I am happy to take the reigns. But, when you are playing middle man between two organizations and a language you do not speak it becomes disastrous. I won't bore you with the small details, but I communicated back and forth and couldn't get a straight clarification on the coding of the procedure or anything to describe to my insurance what would even be happening. I told them this is the first time I have had to be the one to deal with this type of communication, and they didn't have much to say.

i went ahead with things and when I received my bill and had an issue, I called to ask Blanchard Valley. The billing department said I would have to talk to the nurse. The nurse said she "doesn't handle situations like that." And that I would have to call someone else. That someone else said they would look into it and two weeks later they had not contacted the person they needed to speak with.

An UTTER DISASTER and lack of professionalism at this place.

I am now with a new health provider and at my appointment, they clarified - "we looked into your insurance and since this is that, it will be coded this way and you will only have to pay a copay." I overheard another conversation - "yeah we coded that wrong and that was our mistake, so we talked to your insurance and got it cleared up. You actually owe this."

They do not care about their patients. Their nurses may, and the individuals you see may be polite, but the organization as a whole couldn't care less about how things go along the way. They're not walking through this with you, they're not invested. You're a transaction and They're blindly going through the motions.

Don't waste your time.

P.S. This is the first time I have ever been driven to the point of writing a negative review. It's disappointing and careless and people should know.

Terrible experiences lately at this hospital. They have a very difficult time answering any questions. Really difficult time tonight. Lied to multiple times. Rude secretary in our room. They could and didn t even try to go to resolution with my situation until we started almost yelling and threatening to walk out. They will not even listen to reasonable conversation.

Nothing is ever done correctly here. Every single appointment I ve had has been miss scheduled. I waited in the waiting area for 5 hours while I had a badly broken ankle. When they got me in, they put an awful cast on the the local sports medicine doctor (unaffiliated) said actually made my ankle worse. They overcharge for everything, and always mess up billing. Never come here. There are rumors that promedica will be building a center in Findlay near I-75, and I very much hope that they put this death trap out of business.

Where do I even start?! If you need a bandaid, you probably won't even get one here. I was misdiagnosed here, found proper treatment with saint Rita's in Lima. Today my son's family doctor sent us here so he could be admitted and treated properly... Ha! We didn't even see a real doctor let alone the pediatrician. Just sent home with a diagnose that wasn't even real, and now my son is having the same exact symptoms that sent us there in the first place! Again, he will see our family doctor but I won't take him here. I will go elsewhere, see a real doctor and make sure he gets treated properly. If my family doctor, who has been treating my son for years feels he has a real problem and needs extensive treatment, I would think you would listen. Not brush him off and not even do anything but slam our family with I'm sure a huge bill for you to do nothing.

Just don't go to this hosputal. The surgeon has a God complex, released my daughter within18 hours of an emergency appendectomy. Pain control poor, Anti Nausea, they wanted me to drive my daughter to surgeons office to get a prescrition. In 32 years of nursing I've never come across a hospital quite like this. I would not go back to this hospital if my dog was sick ...appalling!!

Quick, prompt, and compassionate in helping me when I came in due to kidney stones. I've been to mamy hospitals, primarily in Florida and they all suck compared to Blanchard Valley. I recommend going here amd will be here again if needed. Nurse was very concerned and understanding about the pain and nausea and immedialy gave me the meds I needed to feel better quick. I will come back if needed; hopefully I won't need to though.

Terrible service and they refuse to provide me a q...

Terrible service and they refuse to provide me a qualified interpreter. I am deaf and I went to the emergency room, all shaken up and somewhat confused. I asked for a qualified interpreter a few times but they forced me to do the paper-and-pen method where I had to write everything out on paper as opposed to using an interpreter to communicate with the staff there.

With me being disoriented, I can't really write well because I was trembling badly, which resulted in shaky penmanship on paper. Half of the time the staff tried to talk to me, thinking that I am an expert at reading lip. Yes, I can read lips but it depends on the individual as long as they keep their mouth clear of obstruction, speak at a moderate speed and there are "expressions" with their lips to indicate words being said rather than being "monotone" where the lips aren't moving much.

I continued to ask for a qualified interpreter and they continued to deny me one as the night went on. I grew paranoid, thinking I could die in the hospital due to being mistreated because I was not able to relay my status properly to them but luckily for me, they were able to see what was going on with me and diagnosed me (hopefully it was the proper diagnosis as I seem to be OK since my ER visit).

Overall, poor service, terrible attitude toward deaf people (I'm not the only one who received poor service, some of my deaf friends also have similar experience with the hospital and the ER staff) and the ignorance is high (not understanding our rights to reasonable accommodations as stated in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) law). They really need to study and understand the ADA law because what they are doing is oppression of someone's rights to reasonable accommodations.

Be wary of the hospital or any places under Blanchard Valley Health System! Go to Bluffton as they provide better service.

I had to get a shot, the refused using lab results from very recent results from a different affiliate even after the Dr saying they would use the results from elsewhere so I ended up having to get more blood drawn to get my shot. The charge nurse came in with a clip board asking the names of the people from their clinic I came from who told me I can do so as if she was trying to get someone in trouble she was hasty. I ended up changing my Dr and hospital process to another group and they actually called the new Hospital I went to instead and was asking questions! This place is a joke and the obgyn clinic is unsanitary during the dip sticks they are negative and break HIPAA laws.

If I could give them no stars I would. My father went to their er dept the Tuesday before thanksgiving. He wasn't even seen by an actual doctor. They told him it was nothing to worry about gave him a couple meds and sent him home. That Friday night he went to fostoria hospital and they transported him to Toledo and ended up in critical unstable condition on a ventilation system for days and came very very close to death. I will never ever ever go there or for that matter entrust them with any of my loved ones in the future. They should have caught it, Toledo said it had been building up for weeks a simple blood test would have shown it.

My wife and I are OTR truck drivers. On Memorial d...

My wife and I are OTR truck drivers. On Memorial day at about 10:00pm my wife started getting sick. Severe pain in her upper abdominal area. The pain sickness and fever wad so bad I drove her to the hospital. Most truck drivers will agree that when there is a medical emergency it's extremely difficult to find a hospital where a truck will fit in the hospital parking lot.
Well I made parking at this hospital, we had no choice. My wife was in to much pain to worry about parking.
Let's start with the promptness of the ER room. The ER has some of the best staff that we ever seen, they were on top of their jobs. Everyone worked together just like a finely tuned piano. They had a diagnosis in very little time and they made sure that my wife's pain was down to a minimum in record time. With the diagnosis it was determined that my wife needed surgery to remove her gallbladder. The staff promptly had her admitted and scheduled for surgery the very next day.
Once my wife was settled into the room I joined her. Once again we were promptly taken care of by a very pleasant professional staff. Every staff member kept us informed about exactly what they were doing and why. We could not ask for a better staff. There was only one of the staff members that was a disappointment but that was taken care of immediately. Never let one bad apple destroy a great team. The entire team worked together so well, something that my wife and I haven't seen in a very long time.
Tuesday morning was surgery day. We were informed so well about what to expect with the surgery that we had no questions.
The gallbladder surgery went very smooth. My wife was back in her room in very little time. The surgical staff was outstanding. The hospital staff even found a little abnormality with my wife's heart, which will be addressed with our family doctor once we get home.
My wife's recovery went very well. She was released the very next day. The only thing that would have been helpful would have been if a dietician would have showed up with a diet plan for someone that just had their gallbladder removed and has diverticulitis. Other then that everything went very well.
So if you find yourself in Findlay, OH and in need of medical attention this hospital is outstanding.
Stay healthy

My wife died under their "care". She got a staph infection while in the hospital which became sepsis and she then died. We were told this happens a lot there, so why isn't this being addressed more seriously? Local reputation of the hospital from many people is don't go there if you want to live.

My 2 year old daughter was at CDS to be put to sleep and have dental work done. Everything was great until I get my kid back and she has scratches all over the top of her back. Nurses claimed to not know how they got there. They were not there when they took her and you could tell they were new because they were red and welt like. Never again will I let a stranger take her. I have never been so afraid, angered, and disappointed in the care at our local hospital. I went in with chest pain, high blood pressure and pulse rate feeling completely afraid! The first 10 minutes were impressive However it was all down hill from there. No communication for2 hours until a women showed up to take me for a ct scan, that I was unaware I needed. When I inquired about it she explained they were checking for clots. The doctor who failed to inform me of the ct scan also showed up in the room and gave my husband a vague update on my condition. When I returned to my room, I asked to see my doctor and was told she would be in when she finished with the patient she was with (that was understandable) An 1/2 hour passed and I again asked about seeing the doctor and a different nurse gave me yet a different answer and was quite condescending with her responses. Please keep in mind that my chest still hurt and I was experiencing fear. Yet another 45 minutes passed with no visit from the lady who was supposed to be my physician. I had No intentions of occupying a lot of the doctors time, I just simply needed to have some explanations. I left to seek help elsewhere!
Need to work on attention to patients needs and nurses bed side manors.
Definitely did not receive award winning medical care

Very disappointed in Karen from central scheduling. My mother was in need of an ultrasound of her Carotid artery and had been ordered by her doctor. Karen called and left a message for us to call and schedule. I called and she stated they had an opening for Wednesday the 30th which was only a few days away so we took the appointment for 8:30am. Guess what it is now 9am and still haven t made it past the waiting room because Karen never mentioned the test was not precertified and of course BVHS needs my mother to sign off on a possible $1500 test before they preform it. Karen you lied on the chart stating you had talked to us. Why would we go ahead and schedule a test if it wasn t covered by insurance yet? Karen Jesus don t like liars. Shame on you Karen.

By far one of the worst hospital/systems I have ever had the misfortune of relying on for potentially life saving medical care. I came to Blanchard for help for a terrible problem I was having with my left foot. There was an infection/inflamtion visibly extending up my left foot over the 48 hours which I came to the ER for twice. The hospital now claims and is billing me for services I never received. I had to go to Hillsdale Michigan for them to save my foot. Blanchards negligent doctors could have killed me. My longer-term diagnosis of SLE was completely disregarded and I truly consider myself lucky to still be alive.

If I could give negative stars I would. Where to start? My father was billed for numerous visits while in B V hospital by Dr Benahili Iboaya & he was only seen once. Then I saw that this doctor Iboaya was arrested for domestic violence & aggravating menacing in January. I thought that was the same name so i looked up in mugshots & arrests in Findlay & showed photo to my father & he verified it was him. What kind of background check does our local hospital do to allow these violent offenders to treat our community. Very scary & my father continues to be billed for services not rendered. Shady character.

I would give the hospital zero stars if I could. The staff here are incoherent and have no idea what they re doing. My mom has spent numerous visits in this hospital each one more painful than the next. She s had an infection in her blood for a month now. When she first went to the hospital for her constant fevers and rash. They simply stated you re alright go home. It took them 4 more weeks to figure out what was wrong after they treated her. This place should do its self a favor and change their name to DEATH VALLEY HOSPITAL. If you care about your life and the life of your family. Go to a different hospital. Nurses here are the worst, don t know what to do or how to do it. Worst ever.

The nurses and doctors we're wonderful but dealing with the billing department was a large enough nightmare to never go back. The woman I spoke to told me it is now policy that bills be paid within four months time. Yes FOUR months and it doesn't matter if the total is outrageous. You can't pay that? Well I guess you'll be getting a call from a collections office. The woman was horrid and unkind. If this is TRULY their policy there should be some warning before you agree to be treated. In my case the extra 30 minutes to go to a different hospital would have been worth it. Unless I'm dying I won't be back.

I had cervical fusion surgery at Blanchard Valley - Findlay in June. I was beyond impressed. The place was very clean, every single staff member I encountered was friendly, smiling, and helpful. I felt very well taken care of! And I brag up the facility and the staff to everyone I talk to about my surgery. The nurses took amazing care of me. The surgical team was incredible! Even the food was fairly decent.

If I had to list one complaint, and the reason I didn't leave a 5 star review, it is this... HIPAA was not followed. I had three names listed on my release papers that were permitted to be in my room or be privy to my medical information. Two family members were escorted into my pre-op room without anyone checking with me first to see if they were welcome - their names were not on my paperwork. That was concerning to me as that is a pretty blatant disregard for my privacy.

I called for an ambulance thinking I was having a heart attack the other night. The pain was unbearable. The emt made me climb into the back of the ambulance. Obviously too lazy to pull out the gurneys. I get to the hospital and I'm in such pain I keep passing out and vomiting. The nurse had the nerve to ask me to stop screaming and rolled her eyes. From min one I'm treated like a junky. Come to find out, it was a kidney stone. The pain was so bad I felt it in my chest. They didnt care. They discharged me and gave me percocet 2.5 mg. The strength of the painkiller is so small, no pharmacy can fill it. So I'm sitting in Walmart waiting for the meds. Still havent passed this stone. This hospital has forgotten its purpose. To care and help others. Idc about painkillers. I wanted legit meds to make this stop. I'm miserable. But they never showed one ounce of concern.

The nurses work very hard. But let's get down to the surgeons. Mostly hate filled and treat the surgeon nurses like absolute rubbish. Ungrateful towards the nurses and other staff and towards patients. I've also known a couple of nurses to get fired from there going to the Human Resources to explain how mistreated they are in the surgery room. Only to be fired. All nurses within the facility are great. And a select few surgeons. I absolutely suggest checking into another hospital for surgery. Support the nurses who support the surgeons. And most of the time to all doctors are decent there.

Management is TERRIBLE! They say they will "get back to you tomorrow" which turns into weeks. No one is true to their word. Poor recruiting efforts and empty promises. Unprofessional management with attitudes who are just money driven people that don't care about their staff. Management never backs their own employees. Loyalty to this hospital means nothing. High turnover rate. Break contracts and don't listen to employee concerns. Don't care about work/family balance. If you raise a question or concern then you are labeled as a "disgruntled employee." Don't ever work here or go here as a patient!
