The service here is a joke the host is more occupied playing with dogs rather than doing her job she literally told me to go inside and get my drinks and she forgot to bring it to me outside

Love this bar. Decent drink prices, wonderful food (must try the cheese curds), and friendly staff. Can be a little crowded at times but it's only because everything is so damned good. Will DEFINITELY be going back again and again and again...

Annual crawfish boil was the bees knees of course. Favorite wings of all time. Most visited bar in Austin for my group and I. If I ever move away somewhere I'll be sure to come back to the Lodge for a white trash can and a buffalo burger

Everything was fantastic. Great live Game Watching , Great atmosphere, Great Service, GREAT FOOD. Everyting was fine all up until I had to pay the $100 Boot Fee for parking across the street at the CVS parking area and leaving the property because there's all towing enforced all up and down the streets adjacent to Black Sheep Lodge everywhere, no thanks primarily to the ACL Concerts happening a few miles away on Barton Springs and City of Austin's being a stickler about parking around South Lamar. There were Towing signs about parking in Pharmacists spots, but none for parking the furthest away from the store and plenty of open spots. Like everyone's gonna go all to that CVS location all at the same time and park and shop there for a few hours straight. The longest I've ever shopped at CVS was almost 20 minutes tops. So unless you plan to arrive 1 hour to 2 hours before a popular Sporting Event such as a Texas Game, happen to find limited parking next to, or behind the building, or by some miracle park a half mile away so that neighbors don't call a tow truck on you, have BSL bribe the fellow businesses next to them or rent out at least the parking space area that's closest next to S. Lamar by paying them so customers can park in vacant spaces, or you're better off by just taking Uber or Lyft, Taxi, or go by Bus.

this is a great bar to come to. The catches if there's a game on or any big event you have to get there early before it fills up and there's absolutely no seating. So long as you prepare for that you'll have a great time. The food is good and the drinks are affordable.

Though I may not be able to dispel rumors of lower quality meat in the burgers now, I have only had pleasant experiences with pretty much every food item I've ordered off the Black Sheep's menu. Grub aside, expect an accommodating environment (albeit being understandably packed at most times after 5pm) and excellent drink specials that go on all day. Wednesdays are dollar white trash cans, so you can score yourself 16 oz of refreshment for $1.

As others have said, this is a great spot for day drinking! Especially work-week day drinking! No crowd--no wait, and cheaper lunch specials. I had good service at my last visit and had a tasty burger alongside some fried pickles that filled me up perfectly.

THEY CHANGED THE HAMBURGERS! This place used to have the most awesome high-quality hamburgers in all of South Austin but recently they switched to pre-made factory meat that is just flat-out disgusting. Also, the wine which used to come in a six-ounce pour has been reduced to three ounces.

The decline in the quality of the food is unfortunate. I assume they believe they will make more money. But this is always the beginning of the end.

AVOID.

Love this place, great place to watch games and good beer choices. The only reason not 5 Stars is that every time we order anything fried they over fry it. Their corn dog bites used to be incredible, not anymore. Burgers are still great.

I have been in Austin since May 2020. I love neighborhood hood bars true neighborhood bars. To me, that means great food great people and awesome energy! I love that Black sheep have plenty of T.V's for your sports addictions. The staff is always pleasant and the BYO Burgers are amazing! A true dive bar atmosphere with a twist if you will. I have to give kudos to the hostess when I go every time she is always pleasant and very nice. (Wish I knew her name) Specials 7 days a week you can't beat!!!

Visiting from Chicago for the first time, I was asked to leave before I could even sip my drink or throw a second dart. A regular wanted to play on both dart boards, but wasn't doing so before we walked in. When we started playing the manager took the darts out of my hand. He was a little man in every sense of the word and asked us to leave in an unnecessarily aggressive manner.

Good Austin-ish atmosphere, pretty good service and a dang good burger. That's all you need really. The wide variety of beers and stylish branding/decor helps finish off the appeal. Go for a hearty meal or a relaxed evening out.

If you're looking for good, cold CHEAP beer while in the 78704 or surrounding area, BSL is a go-to spot.

"White trash" beers are "joe dirt" cheap during the week and the black buffalo burger and cheese curds are "special" bar food.

Between the cheap beer, good food and tons of tv's; Blacksheep will be one of my top 3 football watching spots in the 78704 this year.

We chose this place because it was close to where we were and it was open. We didn't know much else. We actually loved it our waitress was super nice and even bought the birthday girl in our party a jello shot! To celebrate... Definitely would come back!

Their burgers are pretty decent, but I wasn't impressed with their veggies burgers. And who doesn't have avocados?! Personally, I think that's what makes a burger. The service is good and it's a great place to watch a game. Just get there early to grab a spot!

Used to come here a lot. But the food is now horrible. Fried jalepenos were barely battered (if you want to call it a batter) and did not have a taste at all. Burger was undercooked (turned the bottom bun pink) but I'm ok with rare steak, just not rare ground beef so I ate it because you never send food back unless it needs to be. The bun was definitely stale and cold. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is the sweet potatoe fries were awesome and so is the beer selection.

Suggestion: cook the burger for 1 to 2 more minute on each side (dont know your grill temp) and warm the buns a bit. No one likes a bloody burger, only a bloody steak. Also use more or a thicker batter, fried is fried for a reason.

Will always give this place a thought, just not a recommendation to others for now.

This was our first stop in Austin, and what a way to start it was! Great drinks and even better food! Service was fast, and the outdoor seating was a plus. I'm still dreaming about their Hot Chicken Tenders!

Baa, baa, black sheep, have you any beer?

Baa, baa, black sheep, have you any beer?
Yes, sir, yes, sir, specials everyday;
$1 white-trash cans on Weds,
And $1 off pints Thursday,
And good pub food for the little boy who lives down Lamar Lane

Overall: Spacious sports bar/dive with decent pub food and good drink specials. Parking is bad. The scene is probably exactly what you imagine.

Food:

Drinks:
Great specials all week.

Events:
Unique events. i.e. $3 adult snow cones & crawfish boils.

Environment & Audience:
They show most games of most sports and can get pretty crowded. Seating can be a little awkward, but there's a lot of it and they have an outdoor space that's right on S. Lamar which is pretty noisy (but not too bad).

Parking:
Hands down the worst thing about this place is the parking. Limited parking in back, most people park across the street in front of CVS.

I've lived in Austin for almost 10 years now and Black Sheep has almost become an institution. Burgers are still great and a simple menu but everything is good. Always love the staff, they'll do their best to get the game on you want and super friendly. Affordable booze too

Black Sheep is one of my favorite go-to bars in South Austin. I especially love going on Thursdays when they feature $2 full-size margaritas and a short list of $2 premium shooters to add-in if you're looking for something a bit stronger. They've got a nice variety of bar games to play for free (darts, shuffleboard, etc.) as long as you're OK with leaving your driver's license with the bartender in exchange for the game pieces/equipment. The place is a good size with both indoor and outdoor covered patio space that's got plenty of seating and features fans/heaters to accommodate weather conditions year-round. They also do "adult snow cones" spiked with alcohol. I've never had one personally but have heard good things. You can bring your dog on the patio and ask for water in case he or she gets thirsty. I'd give this place 5 stars except for two reasons. They serve food but it's nothing to rave about, pretty standard bar food but not terrible. As with most places in Austin, the parking is almost always an issue and this place doesn't have much dedicated space available. However, many patrons park across the street at CVS, as this is not a tow-away zone and it's open 24 hours. However, you do still have to use the pedestrian crosswalk and walk across South Lamar which is often very busy and can be dangerous to cross, especially if you don't use the crosswalk button. Overall, great place to go with decently-priced drinks, free games & good people.

This is a cool place to drink a beer. The food isn't very good and the crowd is a bit eclectic to say the least. But it is Austin so keep it weird. Ride your motorcycle down here if you want to get street cred when you pull up.

Black Sheep Lodge is a little slice of Austin locals just can't pass up. Fairly priced bar food with great daily drink specials in a fun atmosphere. Great shaded patio seating with misters and fans to keep you cool, or if you're like me just belly up to the bar and hang out for a while. With drink options ranging from tasty and sophisticated ten dollar cocktails right down to the $2 white trash cans (only $1 on Wednesdays) they'll have something that fits your appetite. The food isnt fancy, but sometimes all you need is a chili cheese dog and some tater tots, and their sliders have a reputation all their own. If you haven't tried Black Sheep Lodge, get yourself a crew together and stop in, or just go in by yourself and have a chat with one of the friendly bartenders or waitstaff, either way you won't regret it. If you're REALLY into beer, Which Craft bottle shop is right next door with a magnificent selection of bottles and cans for your perusal. Cheers!
