Really a great neighborhood bar. The food is good, they have a plethora of beers on the menu and they have a super dog friendly patio! They feature a new meal every week and it's always amazing!

If you like to watch sports, this is a cool place to go to. If you are hungry, then I recommend the Buffalo burger. It is really juicy and filling with a good 'kick' to it. Order a side of sweet potato fries and you will be set. A very good amount of Texas beers for you to try and the rest of their food is great. I do not like their parking but it also seems that you can't find anywhere to park when in Austin. Other than that, I like this place.

Not into it. Too many sports on tv. It's dark and dank. Beers are ok but limited. Didn't have food, but maybe that's good. Not rating down too much because maybe you like sports. For a place to watch The Big Game, I'd say it earned 4 stars.

The atmosphere was good, the service was good, the beer was good, the fried food was okay. My biggest disappointment was the food. I had never been there before and first I ordered the chicken club with a side salad. The chicken on the sandwich was charred so much that it tasted very burnt. The onions on the sandwich still had the skin on it as if the cook did not peel the onion before cutting it. I then ordered some fried chicken bites, they were okay, tasty but a little dry. The staff was very nice, unfortunately with the food there was little attention paid to detail. With the current covid situation I doubt the ownership would be okay with the experience I had today. Hopefully this critique can be used to better the establishment for the next customer and help them survive these times.

Been a patron for 7 years and have noticed a decline, steadily, in several key areas. Prices have increased, quality is still great yet the response on the price raises was a run around from new management. I understand it happens but don't treat the customer like a vapid waste of space. Service is a constant turnover with no quality control. While seated at a table was asked to provide payment rather than wait for a check.

I loved coming here for years. Would consider a different spot now

The place seemed cool and fun until closing. They never made a last call and allowed me to buy two beers right before they closed. Instead of letting me and my friend finish them, they were literally taken out our hands. Mind you, I was not drunk in the slightest. I was complaining to my friend about how lame that whole situation was and one of the staff yelled at me and said I shouldn't come back. Very disappointed in the staff.

Definitely a great place to grab a burger. Plus, they have tots! (Give me tots over fries any day.) Be sure to order cheese curds. They're melt-in-your-mouth delicious! Background music was a bit loud, but it's a great place to watch your favorite sporting event.

Service was SUPER slow and we literally watched the staff just chat and take forever to bring a VERY simple drink order. The music choices were so slow it made us want to take a nap. Guessing the place is better at night (I'd hope). We literally had a drink and left, there's too many places along Lamar to have this sort of environment and service

I was here last night, had a couple beers while watching the game and left. I noticed in my bank account that the waitress took it upon herself to tip herself extra on my card. I'm now -$30 in my bank account. Very very terrible service, I was with my brother and he tipped her EXTRA on my behalf on his card because I didn't have the funds to, There was absolutely no reason for her to do this.

The absolute best burger and fries in Austin. The Waitresses are hit-or-miss as far as hotness, but they are all tatted up skanks. It's a pretty nasty bar to be honest, but seriously . . . The food! Keeps me coming back

This place was always packed when I would drive by, so I wanted to see what all the hype was about. They have a moderately sized beer selection and food menu. Service was good, but the food was just okay. I'll probably go back due to convenience, but not my number one choice.

A great neighborhood bar with both inside and outside seating. All their food is great, but the tater tots are the best. They also have a great beer selection. Only complaint would be service is a little slow and unpredictable.

Nice place for get-together with friends for drinks. The outdoor seating even has heaters for those cold days. Parking can be challenging but that's expected for that area.

Great prices and drinks, but they do have a little bit of slow service on bigger groups. I don't know if this is the size or if service is just slow in general. Other then that good chill spot.

Recently found this spot by chance, as I ended up giving a rideshare to one of the managers. Amazing environment, great energy and the staff are really friendly and on top of their game. Dog friendly, and they have really cool theme nights!

Stumbling distance from home, a great range of beers on tap and awesome specials ($2 tall cans anyone?)

Buffalo burger is amazing... pool tables, and now a separate game room and covered patio.. a neighborhood favorite.

Must be new management or something. But apparently the sports bar can t change TVs off their game watch. So every tv has to be that game watch, yet half the TVs are running commercials and football analysis. But they can t switch those TVs to an actual game.

The manager as Black Sheep Lodge is terrible, we went there to watch the UT game. You think any bar in Austin would have the UT game on, however not Black Sheep Lodge. They had over half thier TVs dedicated to the A&M with NO A&M fans there. I get it if there is a big crowd but the game was pretty much already over and nobody was watching it.

We tried to leave but then it took forever to get closed out. Very poorly run bar.

Black Sheep Lodge is one of my favorite bars in Austin! It's not quite a dive bar, but has a chill vibe and I love it. We got to White trash can Wednesday for super cheap "white trash" beers (PBR, Lone Star, Miller, etc.) The food is bar food so don't expect a fancy 5 course meal. Still good though! They have darts and pool tables in the back. And you can bring your dog to sit on the patio!

Fun place, very friendly staff. Black Sheep is a nice place to sit outside and enjoy a beer. Their food is good, too! My favorite place for sweet potato fries they re never too greasy. It can be really difficult to find parking, though.

Every well-run bar tries to appeal to a certain kind of clientele. You've got your college bars like Crown & Anchor or Hole In the Wall, your sports bars like Third Base or Champions, your beer snob bars like Flying Saucer or Hopfields, your hopeless alcoholic/dive bars like Poodle Dog or The 04, your fun hangout/just-one-more-pitcher bars like Bender or Barflys... bars come in many archetypes, and the best bars try to incarnate themselves in one of those forms.

Except for Black Sheep Lodge, I guess, because I go there all the time and yet I'm not really sure what type of bar it aspires to be. It's a good place to watch sports, from your everyday NFL games to UEFA championships, but it doesn't have a "sports bar" vibe to it. It's too far from campus to be a college bar. Its beer selection is good, but not quite Flying Saucer good. The patrons have too many teeth, too much money, and too much liver function to even dream of putting it in the Poodle Dog bucket. And while I have begun many evenings there, it's never been my final, blurry stop of the night.

It's just a plain good bar with some of everything. Good (actually really good) burgers, good specials, a good patio, dog-friendly... it has many virtues and few faults. I will say that the one time I was able to grab the Primo Parking Spot in front right next to the patio was one of the happiest parking moments I've ever had, because usually you have to park in the back behind the sex shop and tattoo parlor, or across Kinney Ave. I felt like a boss, and I didn't even mind when the inevitable dude on a motorcycle ground all conversation on the patio to a halt when he took off.

Anyway, it's a friendly, relaxed, solid addition to the South Lamar bar scene, if you can call it a "scene", and you can't go wrong with it. Check it out.
