Too many shuttered exhibits. Path is set and no flexible access to your favorite spots. Biggest problem is required masks OUTSIDE. I understand being required inside exhibits, but too hot outside especially as few people as were there.

Nice little zoo that we stopped at to break up our road trip. The downside was that the animals were mostly in cages rather than in open air exhibits, and the cages made it hard to see them. It was also very crowded. But the weather was good and we had a good time.

We traveled a long way to be totally disappointed. Everything was way too expensive. No tigers or other big cats except lions. All the animals looked a little on the sickly side. My children was not as thrilled as they usually are at other places we visit. I sure hated seeing their little faces as I tried to explain why this zoo was not near as good as others that we have visited. Sure hope you guys try to improve the quality of the zoo instead of trying to get all the money out of our pockets that you can

This place is just amazing. Very well maintained. Clean. Good staff. Not much animals but a nice Zoo. Food and drink regular. But I enjoyed the Zoo. Hope you enjoy too. Price to get in I do not remember.

Due to Covid, they set the zoo up as one big one-way walking trail. The line to wait for the train was extra long because of social distancing spacing and that they were skipping two rows on the train between each family. If you start early, you will end up at the restaurant by noon. (You don't have any way to backtrack) it is all one-way trails.

It is now called "The Birmingham Zoo and Aquarium." To be honest I don't think it qualifies as either of those things. Admission is outrageous for the amount of animals they have...and there really is no aquarium. And if you have any issues don't expect "management" to assist you, they are useless and rude. I would give it 0 stars, but google is making me give it at least 1.

Haven't been in years , love weekend excursions and this was a perfect ideal place to be. Prices are decent and staff friendly and helpful. Loved the time I got to spend with the family looking at the wonderful care of the animals.

WASTE OF MONEY! DO NOT GO!

WASTE OF MONEY! DO NOT GO!
The employees were all just sitting on their phones in fold out chairs. There was only 1 drink stand open besides the burger place. We were yelled at multiple times for going the wrong way because were in a group and walked back and forth in the same area... apparently it s all traffic moves one way, no exceptions. Over half the exhibits/buildings and animals were not present. Was forced to purchase masks at the gate but upon entering, half the customers were not wearing their masks.
We saw everything they had to offer and show in less than 2 hours. HUGE WASTE OF MONEY!
If the zoo can not open with all or even half it s features.. the zoo does needs to have tickets be half price!
Spent over $100 for the WORST ZOO EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD.

Not a terrible place. We saw the "camel ride" as a unique opportunity for a little adventure. There wasn't anyone around, and barely anyone at the zoo that day. So we bought three tickets, one for each of our kids for $5.50 each, thinking it would provide 10-15 minutes of entertainment. The handlers proceeded to put all three kids on the same camel, walk them in a circle for no more than 60 seconds (50 feet or less, total distance) and then had the kids dismount. This is much less than we expected, and the kids were understandably unhappy after they were told to get off. Not a good experience. I understand the zoo needs to make money. So if you're going to charge $5.50 for a ride, provide some sort of value.

Don t waste your money , most exhibits were closed , only one food place open and ridiculously priced especially drinks . Staff did not say hello or greet as you walk by either . I chose to take my daughter here for her bday and it was not at all what I thought it would be . Been in Alabama for 2 weeks . Just don t waste your money , 1 teenager 1 adult 1 child 50 dollars , too expensive for what s offered.

We love the zoo. We go every year for a family adventure. It is laid out very well and all the paths are marked making it easy to navigate. The animals are easy to view, even for my small children. The train is our favorite part of the zoo. It is always the last thing we do before heading back. I can't wait to see what it looks like once all the renovations are completed.

The owner or one of the white guy with glasses was so rude to me and couldn t explain what were the prices of the drinks. He was also racist Nourish 205 was the most expensive place in the building .

The zoo was wonderful! Parents, be prepared, there isn't much shade walking around, and it can get a little confusing at times, but it is still a wonderful experience. Food is delicious, they have a carousel and splash pad for younger children, and even feature a "ride a camel" attraction! I would recommend everyone to visit at least once!

Pretty nice decent size zoo. Not as big as some of the ones in other metropolitan areas but it's nice for Alabama. My kids had a blast at the bird exhibit. They were allowed to have the birds perch on they arm and feed them nectar.

Barely any animals, aside from goats, on the entire right side of the zoo. The train ride was disappointing because you don't see anything other than trees and brush and the elephant from a distance. Oh and there's only one way in and out.

The Birmingham Zoo is one of the city's best attractions. It receives constant attention for upgrades and better facilities, but has always been an amazing place to spend a day. A must see in Birmingham.

I was here for the Christmas light show. It did not disappoint. The food was great, the lines moved quickly and everything was well organized. The lights were beautiful and I had a great time!!

Sad... I have a membership, paid $55 for lunch and couldn't get a refill!? Wow... Had to pay another almost $3 for a drink. I wish I could get a partial refund on my membership... Since I doubt I'll use it again.
