Great place to take the kids. Plenty to do just expect to spend a little money.
I went Veteran's weekend and it was aad .
Barley any animals were out . to be Honest , only thing that was nice . Was the train ride .
Too many shuttered exhibits. Path is set and no flexible access to your favorite spots. Biggest problem is required masks OUTSIDE. I understand being required inside exhibits, but too hot outside especially as few people as were there.
Small zoo with a few intimate experiences, felt like the enclosures were small. The park was practically empty the Sunday we visited.
This is a very clean and well run zoo. All of the animals seem to be in good health and care.
Nice little zoo that we stopped at to break up our road trip. The downside was that the animals were mostly in cages rather than in open air exhibits, and the cages made it hard to see them. It was also very crowded. But the weather was good and we had a good time.
They charge you full price to go in the zoo and you don't see everything in there there was no snakes there was no birds there was no alligators it was nothing to see but you got to pay the full price I'll never go again.
Great day out in the sun at the zoo. Went tuesday and was half price
We traveled a long way to be totally disappointed. Everything was way too expensive. No tigers or other big cats except lions. All the animals looked a little on the sickly side. My children was not as thrilled as they usually are at other places we visit. I sure hated seeing their little faces as I tried to explain why this zoo was not near as good as others that we have visited. Sure hope you guys try to improve the quality of the zoo instead of trying to get all the money out of our pockets that you can
This place is just amazing. Very well maintained. Clean. Good staff. Not much animals but a nice Zoo. Food and drink regular. But I enjoyed the Zoo. Hope you enjoy too. Price to get in I do not remember.
Due to Covid, they set the zoo up as one big one-way walking trail. The line to wait for the train was extra long because of social distancing spacing and that they were skipping two rows on the train between each family. If you start early, you will end up at the restaurant by noon. (You don't have any way to backtrack) it is all one-way trails.
It is now called "The Birmingham Zoo and Aquarium." To be honest I don't think it qualifies as either of those things. Admission is outrageous for the amount of animals they have...and there really is no aquarium. And if you have any issues don't expect "management" to assist you, they are useless and rude. I would give it 0 stars, but google is making me give it at least 1.
We had a great time walking around and seeing all of the exhibits.
Attended a wedding at the Lodge at Birmingham Zoo. Beautiful venue, excellent food catered by the lodge. I would recommend.
Three adults and four kids it was great! This zoo has free parking and it worth the money. I have never seen SO many animals and many different types.. They take care of their animals loved this place!
Haven't been in years , love weekend excursions and this was a perfect ideal place to be. Prices are decent and staff friendly and helpful. Loved the time I got to spend with the family looking at the wonderful care of the animals.
WASTE OF MONEY! DO NOT GO!
The employees were all just sitting on their phones in fold out chairs. There was only 1 drink stand open besides the burger place. We were yelled at multiple times for going the wrong way because were in a group and walked back and forth in the same area... apparently it s all traffic moves one way, no exceptions. Over half the exhibits/buildings and animals were not present. Was forced to purchase masks at the gate but upon entering, half the customers were not wearing their masks.
We saw everything they had to offer and show in less than 2 hours. HUGE WASTE OF MONEY!
If the zoo can not open with all or even half it s features.. the zoo does needs to have tickets be half price!
Spent over $100 for the WORST ZOO EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD.
There's so many beautiful animals there and everyone there is so nice I recommend going there
We went for the Glow Wild event and it was great. We haven't been to the zoo in years and it has really changed. Tons of improvements and renovations. Looks great!
One of the better zoos I've been to. Love the new main gate!
It's a good zoo but has plenty of places it could improve
It was nice, pretty small though. There's alot of kids activities going on! Animals are secondary to entertainment in my opinion!
It's seen better days, but we all need to go and support it so it can recover from the COVID shut down. They've done a good job helping visitors remain socially distant.
Not a terrible place. We saw the "camel ride" as a unique opportunity for a little adventure. There wasn't anyone around, and barely anyone at the zoo that day. So we bought three tickets, one for each of our kids for $5.50 each, thinking it would provide 10-15 minutes of entertainment. The handlers proceeded to put all three kids on the same camel, walk them in a circle for no more than 60 seconds (50 feet or less, total distance) and then had the kids dismount. This is much less than we expected, and the kids were understandably unhappy after they were told to get off. Not a good experience. I understand the zoo needs to make money. So if you're going to charge $5.50 for a ride, provide some sort of value.
Don t waste your money , most exhibits were closed , only one food place open and ridiculously priced especially drinks . Staff did not say hello or greet as you walk by either . I chose to take my daughter here for her bday and it was not at all what I thought it would be . Been in Alabama for 2 weeks . Just don t waste your money , 1 teenager 1 adult 1 child 50 dollars , too expensive for what s offered.
Open during covid however many attractions of animals are closed so there is only a select few animals you see and it's a one way walking path
We love the zoo. We go every year for a family adventure. It is laid out very well and all the paths are marked making it easy to navigate. The animals are easy to view, even for my small children. The train is our favorite part of the zoo. It is always the last thing we do before heading back. I can't wait to see what it looks like once all the renovations are completed.
Lots of updates, parts of the zoo are under construction. The new additions are really nice. Several exhibits allow you to interact with the animals.
The owner or one of the white guy with glasses was so rude to me and couldn t explain what were the prices of the drinks. He was also racist Nourish 205 was the most expensive place in the building .
Great place to visit although it wasn't open completely
Disappointed in the lack of variety. Giraffes, elephants, and rhinos were the biggest attractions. More birds than anything else put together.
There was no signs that say do not smoke in zoo. Also no signs to say what time the zoo open or close
Always so great to go here and see all the animals! So interactive for all kids and parents. Definitely recommend
There just didn't seem like there were that many animals out while we were there.
Love how the facility educates the public on conservation and ways to reduce pollution! Excellent variety of animals, very clean, and all around enjoyable.
Disappointed!! What happened to all the animals?? Not worth the money in my opinion!
One of the best attractions for kids in town. Hopefully it will be even better after the expansion is done.
Great place for family fun! Offers zipline, camel rides, train ride, Merry go round, reptile exhibit and much more!
New upgrades make the zoo appear much better. Still the zoo I remember visiting 30 years ago, but much more modern and much improved. Definitely worth a trip to see and experience.
They arr working on more attractions. But still enjoyable
Decent mid sized zoo. Good selection of animals and friendly employees. Zero butterflies in the butterfly house and really dirty windows. Beautiful bird selection
The zoo was wonderful! Parents, be prepared, there isn't much shade walking around, and it can get a little confusing at times, but it is still a wonderful experience. Food is delicious, they have a carousel and splash pad for younger children, and even feature a "ride a camel" attraction! I would recommend everyone to visit at least once!
Pretty nice decent size zoo. Not as big as some of the ones in other metropolitan areas but it's nice for Alabama. My kids had a blast at the bird exhibit. They were allowed to have the birds perch on they arm and feed them nectar.
Barely any animals, aside from goats, on the entire right side of the zoo. The train ride was disappointing because you don't see anything other than trees and brush and the elephant from a distance. Oh and there's only one way in and out.
Very nice, easy to navigate, clean, great place for family fun
Great zoo, so well laid out and there is such attention paid to the children. I love each visit. The lions are my favorite!
The Birmingham Zoo is one of the city's best attractions. It receives constant attention for upgrades and better facilities, but has always been an amazing place to spend a day. A must see in Birmingham.
I liked the animals they had. They had a good variation. They had alot of space. The animals are amazing.
Having a good time at the Birmingham Zoo with Lipscomb Elementary School
Small zoo, a bit pricey for not much to see, but a fun time
Amazing gem right here in town! Always have a blast at the Birmingham Zoo!
Loved the staff and the entire zoo was clean. Had a wonderful time.
It is just a great place all around. Every year they are adding something new. We love it
Neat little zoo but a lot of it is off limits for COVID19
Always a fun visit. Knowledgeable staff and a nice place just to walk around
I was here for the Christmas light show. It did not disappoint. The food was great, the lines moved quickly and everything was well organized. The lights were beautiful and I had a great time!!
Great time. Some exhibits currently closed, but it's fun.
Sad... I have a membership, paid $55 for lunch and couldn't get a refill!? Wow... Had to pay another almost $3 for a drink. I wish I could get a partial refund on my membership... Since I doubt I'll use it again.
was lack of zoo animals. Will NOT be going back. Atlanta has MUCH BETTER ZOO.
We've been members for a few years now. It's a great place to spend half a day with the kids.
