The fact that we had no toilet paper and a beer cap in the bathroom should have been the first sign.... I stayed here with my husband and 2 y.o. son last night, the night before Thanksgiving, and woke up to NO HOT WATER. When I called the front desk they could only agree that this was unacceptable. I was told no manager was available. No offer to have my call returned. I called again and spoke with a more pleasant rep that said she would make sure a manager spoke with me. Unfortunately, this manager lacked any customer service skills like the first rep I spoke with. I've had better customer service at the Red Roof Inn. This was our first visit to Birmingham. It will be our last stay at a Marriott location.
**UPDATE** Unfortunately, we woke up Friday (11/24) morning and again there was no hot water. I went downstairs to the main desk and spoke with a young lady that was empathetic, understanding and able to compensate us for the inconvenience. The same manager that I spoke to the day before stood by as this young lady tried to help find a reasonable solution. I will say he did stop me and personally apologize. I accepted and advised him that regardless of the situation at hand, "the last customer should be treated just as fairly and compassionately as the first."
