Nice atmosphere & staff, but avoid the Buffalo Chicken wrap (soggy tortilla, filled with overpowering sauce, flavorless chicken, and blue cheese paste ).

Very clean with good food choices...However, the customer service isn't always up to par.
One of my favorite places to go grocery shopping. Lots of great selection here, and the bakery is wonderful. It is a bit pricey though.
I shop here every week. If you like a manager escorting you out of a one way aisle whilst you have several illnesses that make it hard for you to even shop, this is the store for you. He was rude, works Friday nights, and on a power trip. Should be fired
Big y in tolland has done the best job of handling covid. No price gouging that i could see and even with how bad the new rules are for all of us, shopping here is not a bad experience
Clean, friendly and full service grocery! A pleasure to shop there. Produce is especially fresh and appealing
My husband and I stumbled upon this Big Y by chance, we were on our way to a friends house and had to pass it on the way, so we stopped in and man oh man were we pleasantly surprised! I shop at many different grocery stores but this one is my favorite by far. The meat at the butcher is well above average for a big chain store, no Highland Park but for the dollar a better value! :)
AWESOME GROCERY STORE!! THEY HAVE FRIKIN DAYCARE AND THERE ARE TVS ALL AROUND THE STORE SO YOU CAN MAKE SURE YOUR CHILDREN ARE SAFE!! WHAT?? I DON'T EVEN HAVE KIDS BUT GGREEAAAT JOB BIG Y!!
Great prices and I like the buy one get two free LOL
Excellent. They had everything I needed plus items on sale that we always use so I picked up additional items.
I certainly recommend this location as one of your stops if you have never been there before.
Meats and produce at their best!! Also many Specialty foods From all over the world you won't find anywhere else. Family oriented and friendly Staff.
Tolland Big Y is my favorite Big Y. Everyone always goes above and beyond to help the customers. Dave in bakery helped me out with a lovely breakfast platter on short notice. Everyone does an excellent job from Pat in produce, to Ed in dairy, to Jeff in grocery, and beyond. There are too many to list. Scott, you have an excellent crew working with you. You all help make my grocery shopping experience one that I enjoy. Thank you all for all you do!
This is a great market .The food is fresh and high quality. The employees are nice.
Good place to shop. Help is great to get what you need
Big Y sells a big variety of items, including store produced items like cakes, donuts, muffins, pizzas, cheeses. The staff is friendly and the service is very good. Prices vary on a weekly basis.
Why? Just why? Wholefoods prices for the same stuff you get at every other grocery store. They hassel you if you don't have a store card and you have to give them a kidney to get one. Keep your leprechaun gold to yourself, I know a rip-off when I see one.
CLEAN!

Tolland Big-Y has a great selection of meat and seafood, better than the Mansfield Big-Y. The Tolland Big-Y still has human-cashier checkout, not like the Mansfield Big-Y which is converting to impersonal robotic self-service checkout. In this day and age, personal human interaction versus robot is very important.
Your new bottle machines suck the bags are to heavy to lift and are safety concern to there workers who have to clean them I was in shopping on my day off and saw every thing first hand.
The store is always spotless. They take great pride in their appearance, and it really gives an inviting feel. The prices are higher than other stores, but the quality has always been outstanding.
Excellent as always. Great selection and the associates are over the top.
Always great customer service from all personnel. It's a joy to shop here!
This Big Y location is at the i-84 rt 195 track to uconn. The store is well stocked on a daily basis. Sale items are generally at the front of the store. The produce section is well run. Pizza and stuff for quick meals are on time.
Great lunch sandwiches for only $3.99
Made just for you when you order
I really do not like Big Y supermarkets. I only shop there for only a few items. Most of my shopping is at stop and shop. I have been in the food business most of my life and the only good thing at Big Y is the flag they fly.
Best place to shop. Clean stores, highest quality products, and always premier customer service.
They usually have what I am looking for. They offer senior hours which is very helpful during the pandenic. The staff is courteous. They do a great job with ready made foods and we like their sushi. The soups are excellent. The pharmacy is open 7 days a week and everyone is helpful. Big Y is a good place to shop.
$24/# for cheese...
A terrible waste of money to shop here
I like Big Y. I use both the Tolland and Mansfield stores and agree that it is a much better than average shopping experience.
With one caveat. Lately my cash outlay has grown immensely! I find that in the last few months I have been spending about 18 to 20 per cent more for the same amount of groceries, so now I find myself looking for lower priced, but similar items.
I'm thinking that the present administration in Washington's policies of trade and economic strategy has a lot to do with it, but I personally can't go on this way much longer on a fixed retirement income.
So I wish us all good luck. .. and will vote accordingly on the 6th!
Thanks, John
Hated my Big Y when I first moved into a little town and Stafford Springs it was the only Supermarket there no competition but I grew to like it and they did get more competitive had better sales miss them now that I'm in the South Carolina
Great meat selection, very friendly staff, would be 5 stars but they do a bad part at letting people with over 20 items in the express lane and they more often than not put a very slow cashier there
Nice smaller grocery, a little jam packed and usually full of college students but mostly decent selection.
9/6/20 9:45 AM Tolland: I was at self checkout when an elderly woman asked the employee for a cleaning wipe to clean the register. The employee told the woman in a snooty tone of voice " I cleaned this 10 minutes ago and it's fine". The woman asked again and got the same exact response from the employee. Ridiculous service!! This woman was concerned about having to touch things and how she was treated was wrong. Also what's the big idea with the price hikes? I see we the customers are paying for your renovation hence why I paid $7.00 for grapes. Never again! Zero stars!
Clean, good variety, higher priced because it's the only grocery store in town but good sales, lots of parking, good produce when fresh, nice cheese selections and 80%of the staff is awesome. The hours of operation are really reasonable too.
Just called pizza department and same person answered three times and hung up.
First time thought we were disconnected but not next two times. Ordered my party pizza from Papa T's. Disappointed in Big Y!
Good produce selection, well run. Also note have self checkout, which I love.
Asked for a store card and they said they didn't have one. I'm not from the area so wouldn't get one. Cashier and other employees could not tell me which products I would save on if I had their savings card. Nobody offered me a card. Felt like poor service. Also frustrating that we couldn't find cliantro. Will take my business to walmart for the rest of the time I'm in the area.
Great Store Great Customer Service. Great Veggies, fruit and meats.
Clean facility, friendly staff, wide variety of supplies and products
Great quality customer service. The best part about this Big Y is the FREE 2 HOURS OF CHILD CARE for ages 3 and up. The employees there go through background checks and are some of the nicest people around. Plus the fisherman's dozen oysters are always a huge hit with my wife!
I went in a little bit ago with my service dog(who didn t have her vest on at the moment since it was a quick in and out of the store), I was then approached by, who I wanna say is the manager, and told me that dogs are not allowed in the store. I understand that because she did not have her vest on so she looked like a regular dog. I told him that my dog is in fact a Service animal, and long story short, basically told me that he did not care what she was, and told me to leave the store. He then proceeded to follow me out of the store while harassing me after I told him to leave me alone several times. I find myself or my family to never return to this store until they have respect for Service Animals & their handlers!
It's nice for a large mid sized grocery store chain. They do have a nice selection of local products ranging from produce to tea. Down side is that they are pricier than the local competition.
Clean store, great variety of items, weeklyspe ials.
The corporate policy where you need a Big Y card in order to get any discount means I paid an extra $6. No big loss since I don t frequent the store but I won t be back again.
Was not to happy with the big y in tolland ct.1. the salad bar they just put in was not filled up and old and the way it is set up you have to lean your body over the food.
2. Very sad that at the deli, the ham salad and other salads had not been mixed, they had been sitting for awhile, so you know what they looked like .When I worked at big y I was told to mixed the salads every 20 minutes so they always look fresh.
I guess I will stay with my big y in stafford springs ct.
Great place, just one weird guy bagging groceries, and a lady peed in the frozen section. I'm just kidding, she dropped a bag of frozen peas and they spilt, I'm not kidding about the guy bagging tho...
Good place to shop, really nice people that work there , Always find what you're looking for.
Close & friendly.. The customer service filled out my business card info for me.. They were friendly Happy & made my visit quick & easy..
Big y is a good supermarket when you catch the sales
A lot of good choices, clean and check out was efficient and friendly.
Customer service was outstanding. Our checkout experience was great and we are very pleased with the whole experience.
Absolutely fantastic, it s the local grocery store around here so it s always packed but they manage to get everyone through clean and easily, I also didn t have enough to pay for everything and a bagger offered to pay the rest of my total. Very thankful
Big Y has not had their brand of multi grain rice cakes in weeks. They have not had their own large frozen blueberries in weeks. Also, they claim that Tropicana orange juice in the very large container has been discontinued when in fact, I can purchase it at Stop & Shop and BJ's. Not happy with Big Y's restocking as of late.
Love my Tolland Big Y. This store is always clean, well organized, and staffed with friendly courteous employees. In comparison to other large grocery stores, Big Y consistently has the best produce around! Job well done!! How could you not have an appreciation~ anyone notice printed on the sales flyer for week of September 5th Patriots Day We Will Never Forget
Thank You
Friendly staff excellent service but a bit pricey even with deals
Good store . its our pharmacy and good baked breads.
Helpful, friendly folks in every department. always clean (the store! O.K. the people are too! ..)
pharmacy right there
This is the most expensive grocery store. I have to say that their bakery department and their cakes are absolutely of exceptional quality and freshness. Whenever we need a birthday cake this is the location that we go to. Try the fruit bowl cake, fantastic!
