I shop here all the time. Great place for meat and produce

From basics groceries to specialty food items they are the best.

My Girlfriend and I had to stop at the Big Y in Tolland, as we approach the entrance and the doors open we got a bad stench of sewage smell, disgusting, I live in Tolland and I did mention it to the manager, jokingly he said my nose can't smell. At the beginning I thought it was my imagination, but I ask a couple that walk behind us and I ask them and they agreed that it smelled like sewage. Correct this problem please, cause it's not good for business. TY James.

BigY is a great local chain of grocery stores. They have fair prices, a solid selection, and their "coin" loyalty program for discounts is great.

Favorite Big Y near me, and it's on the way home...easy in, easy out. Large store with full selection.

Great store but a terrible with very little handicapped parking.

Head staff was rude. CHANGE THE HOURS BACK! It used to say open until 8 now it says open until 10. Change tile time back I shouldnt be getting dirty looks from employees while shopping.

During the last two visits mask enforcement seems to be lacking.

While I can understand the limited abilities staff may have to make sure their patrons wear masks, yesterday they had hired contractors to do work in the store and almost none of them had masks.

I think Big Y should have told the contractor they hired to wear masks, or they would could someone else to do the job.

As of September 2020:

It is a great supermarket for the community that has the World Class service. As of now, they are indeed remodeling for a new look inside Big Y of Tolland, C.T.

Otherwise, great service, good deals and friendly staff. Self checkouts aren't replacing cashiers but it's worth using for a couple of items.

The Little Y is no more but the pharmacy is here to welcome customers who need prescriptions.

It'll even be nice once it is fully remodeled soon.

If you live in the town, check it out!

Paczki donuts -- only $5.99 while they last! Overall, great supermarket with fantastic savings on so many products.

Seen no masks being worn so I told management and was told to get a life.Not nice my girlfriend started crying we left.

Very expensive. My family calls it "the food museum" because everything is displayed nicely, and costs a lot. We just had a batch of ground beef filled with bone fragments. If you're charging more than the competition, you should at least source decent products. I will try harder to avoid Big Y in the future- not a good deal.

Good store, expensive as expected and confusing since the remodel...but lemme tell ya, tolland NEEDS another grocery store NOW.

Nice clean store. Plenty of staff to help you. Colorful vegie and fruits are home grown.

My favorite Grocery store, best prices, best selection.

Good selection and decent prices. My only real complaint is that they pack the aisles with too much stuff (cardboard displays and such). It makes it really difficult to get down the aisles. Oh, and their stupid coin system. I already have a card to get discounts, now I need a silver coin for some discounts and a gold coin for bigger discounts? crazy. At least just load them on my "loyalty card" when I earn them instead of making me carry these physical coins.

Fully stocked , some times a little pricey depending on what, mostly all covered.

Super nice staff and great selection but more expensive than other groceries. Try the horseradish cheese!

Has everything I need in one stop, although a little pricey! Even has a Big Y Liquor next door! Always clean, neat, brightly lit with friendly, polite staff.

This location has a great variety of items!! Lots of new items! Really enjoyed walking around this store.

One of the best grocery chains in the northeast. Definitely choose Big Y for produce and meats, and don't forget to stop by the deli counter for delicious subs!

Comprehensive, but... produce is... "variable"; recent product substitutions disappoint (Culinary Tours is a bland product line! )...

Always spectacular service even though I had to wait 20 minutes when my scratch ticket got stuck in the machine

Wide assortment of local vegs. Added a hot wings help yourself bar, along with soup and fresh breads.

CLEAN. HUGE. Ethnic food. Sushi. Seafood the BEST, they sell so much they get daily fresh deliveries. And a real butcher! BAKERY, OMG, I get satisfaction just LOOKING at custom cakes, little pastries to go. Cheeses galore. Outdoor all season nursery. HUGE craft & regular beer section! You want it? You can get it at BigY. Lots of non GMO & Veggie options. They need more SALT FREE OPTIONS! Local produce, seasonal furniture. Good sales. My problem, SO MANY OPTIONS I TAKE TOO LONG TO SHOP!!!

I always enjoy my experience when I am there. I find the staff to be friendly, helpful, and it reflects in the cleanliness and atmosphere of the store. The quality of the meats, produce and seafood is much better than the other grocery stores around. As a mom, the staff know me and my kids pretty well because we are there on a weekly basis shopping which involves either getting a cookie at the bakery or a slice of pizza while we shop. I even remember a time when my son was an infant and an employee was at the buggy return and saw me and offered to load the groceries into my car while I took care of getting the baby in the car. It might be a pricier at times, but honestly, I have no problem paying for a better overall experience.

Always had good experience with their prepared foods.

World class is a strong word but they have the best selection of produce in my area.

Well stocked, clean market. Beware, when school starts at Uconn, first time grocery shopping college kids everywhere.

Store layout, produce quality, health food & organic selections are all better than Stop & Shop. Big Y is the only place I know of that sells fresh squeezed oj - it is expensive but well worth it.

Big selection of food. Prices are good. Very clean store. The premade food is good. Grinders and pizza are great. Items from the bakery are very good. The bakery items and sushi taste better than the 2 other big yes near by.

Store is very clean and staff is very friendly and helpful. The only problems are they are overpriced, they do not have self checkouts, and they usually don't have enough registers open during peak hours.

Certainly one of the best in the area, never problems with freshness of goods, sign up for silver card otherwise it's pricey.

Our car broke down at the 84 in the evening and this supermarket was at the nearest exit. We managed to park our car across the supermarket but were able to get on the WIFI inside, as well as having some warm soup and sushi. A cup of coffee for $1,- the next days as we got our car fixed. Very clean and great big supermarket with a great array of products and great opening times! Loved the warm food and coffee. I can recommend the pizza. Thank you!

The store is clean and organized even though shoppers cleared the shelves through the pandemic. The staff of the seafood and deli departments are HORRIBLE!!! They make you feel like your a bother!! Not good customer service at all! I asked the women in seafood if the crab legs in the case was all they had and she said "yes thats it for tonight" then I asked for a 5lb box for $100 and she could get me that after huffing and puffing and rolling her eyes!! If they were for me I wouldn't have bought them just because of her attitude

Not always the best prices, but always good produce, good generic brands, good selection, clean bathrooms, friendly staff, and a great olive bar.

The store is great for all your grocery needs the fruit and vegetables are top shelf the deli is very well stocked with store brand and name brand meats cheeses and salads the fish and meat dept are great their prepared foods always look tastey and fresh the wing bar is very good they even make pizza I am always satisfied with my shopping there and the prices are comparable and the sales are excellent

Superb customer service! I was looking for party wings the evening before the Super Bowl(to my own fault for last minute planning) and they were all out by the looks of it and the butchers had gone home as it was late. A manager asked if I could wait as they were in the process of unloading a delivery that was supposed to have them on it. I did. The delivery had only the full wings on it which would have been fine but he offered to take another look in the butchery and found some unpacked party wings waiting to be seasoned and offered to package them up for me at the sale price. He could have easily said they were all out from the get go and told me to buy the prepackaged frozen wings. But that's why I go to Big Y.
