On the day we went half of the park was closed. Food is horrible and expensive and drinks are 5 to 7 dollars for a soft drink

Fun place to go for all ages. They have something for everyone. You can definitely spend an entire day there having fun.
Visited today (6/23/18) and the staff was very rude and very unhelpful. I simply asked one of the lifeguards where people were getting the tubes because I didn't know and he replied, " I don't know go find one." Every time I asked a staff member for help or directions none of them seemed to know anyting about the place and acted bothered and annoyed.
Kids have fun. However, the park could be cleaner. Food is just ok for the price you pay
If your only impression is from the street, this looks like a fun place, if not a bit small. Once you commit to actually visit, Wow, this place is actually really big. The views of the beach from many of the slides are fantastic. This is a great place for locals and also tourists that visit everyday. This place will not disappoint!
Very clean. Restrooms were clean..Get the cup for drinks. Cheaper way to go. My granddaughter loved it. Would go again. Almost didnt go due to bad reviews but glad we did. No long wait in line for rides. Lottsa fun.
Worst place I ve ever been. Unorganized and unsafe! Don t rake your children here! The life guards are not properly trained to save a drowning person!
Very disappointed in this business today. We are locals. We bought our tickets on line and paid $95 total for tickets. Come to find out more than half the park is closed off. This was not mentioned online at all. The workers kept sending us to other parts of the park only to be told it's off limits too. Then found out later we were over charged. My family was meeting us here with little ones. Not happy!! Get your act together Big Kahuna's Big Disappointment!!!!!
This park offered great experiences for a small park. The lines for the big slides really weren't that long compared to some bigger parks that I've visited. It was busy but didn't feel over crowded. The only negative thing was to enter the wave pool and have to wait for a floating tube.
Wasn't worth the time or money, half the park was closed off and 3/4 of the concession stands were closed
Good value for the money and great way to spend a hot summer day away from the beach.
Overpriced, all rides not working but the kids had a great time!!
Kids loved it. Went every day for a week. Didn't get old.
A little on the small cramped side. We had issues with the shoots leading into the lazy river getting stuck and not moving. We had fun overall, but probably won't be back.
My truck got broken in to here. Never ever go here there is no security in the parking lot, nor is there cameras. This place is over priced touristy garbage. Take my word for it.
For the price this place should have been much nicer. The entire place was FILTHY. While my older 2 had fun, I was glad my 2 year old was free because I'm pretty sure she even realized what a disgusting mess the place was. The only area that was not gross was the kids Bucaneer area. For $200 I really hoped it would have been nicer. I will say the food prices were not terrible but the food wasn't good either so we pretty much threw it all in the trash after a few bites and just went to Whataburger.
Feels like a giant family reunion with life guards. Multiple staff overseeing each ride and area. Set 3 landmarks for kids to check in at if need to, tikiman Wade pool , lazy river North or South, and middle food court stairs.
To expensive...lines are way to long and no one speaks english.
This place is our second home every summer, and the season passes are such a great deal! They've got so many fun spots for kids at literally every age. My son has been here every summer since he was a month old, and there's always something for him. There are fun slides for the adults as well, and two lazy rivers are a huge plus in my book. If you want to wear your kids out well and make fun memories, this is definitely the place to do it!
The park shows false advertisement. It is very small with very few rides. Super crowded and have the rides don t even work. The live guards seem like they don t want to work and could care less about the people in the park.
Always fully stocked and great service. Very easy to get checked out.
great park good time... had been there before.. rented the exact cabana we knew we wanted, they waited til they were walking us to the cabanas to tell us the ones that we wanted were closed.. and service was subpar
Over rated.
Stay away from the Blue Lazy river unless you like getting stuck.
Not worth the money.
We had a blast! We got our season passes on sale and headed with the entire family all 13 of us! Even our 2 year old had an area for fun with plenty of chairs for mommy's and daddy's and even grandparents definitely will be purchasing season passes when these are done! (Season pass holders get free parking as well!)
Large with lots of slides and others. Children's areas, lazy river, food, drinks, wave pool, surfing ride. Attentive and effective life guards. Mini golf mountain built right in with the water park. Best water park in the Destin area.
Only downside is that at any given time, a few of the rides\slides will be down for maintenance. I've been there many times, but never have all of the attractions been working at once.
DO NOT GIVE THIS BUSINESS YOUR MONEY FOR MANY REASONS. **Notice only good reviews are coming from local guides and crazy people**
A regular and all o can say is there is a reason we come here often. Great day with the family. Kid areas for young ones and babies and fast slides for the thrill seekers. I personally enjoy coming after work and cooling down by sliding into the lazy river and finding the nearest open float and relax and unwind after a hard day as a chef!
Writing this review for someone -
How are y all gonna charge FULL price with a sign that says no refunds but NOT inform people ( who have kids with them ) that the kiddie area is closed and half of the stuff there was closed?! Shame on you!!!!
We had another great time with friends and family. We will return
It was fun until a storm hit, but the lifeguards did their job at getting everyone away from the water.
Definitely enjoyed ourselves and this is a place you must bring your kids if you are in Destin. My only negative is that the surface on the bottom of the wave pool is rough and it really hurts your bottom and feet. I don't know whose idea that was!
They have alot of different types of water slide and they lazy river was fun and relaxing.
Lazy river poorly made. Slides are fun. Short lines.
No one stayed 6 ft from you and kids were horrible and all the tourism was crazy Wait till the weekdays!!!
No Food or Drinks allowed to be brought into park. But their food was not good and had to wait 45 minutes for it. They lost part of our food order. There were not enough tubes for the amount of people. So there were 3 rides that required tubes but never could get a tube so didn't get to ride them. Very disappointed in how much it cost for no more than they had to offer. And not enough seating. Won't go back.
Parking is horrendous! Access to the slides not thought out very well.
I enjoy it but unless you have little ones with you it can get bland.
Looks as if it is not maintained. Parts were not working. One of the big slides and one of the lazy rivers were not working. More people than seating. Save your money. The kids had more fun at the condo pool.
Best water park ever. For the location we are at, you and your family will have a blast
Good place to get out of the sand but the service and speed that the food is served as has dropped off a lot over the past years.
Lots for a three year old to explore! We had a great time!
Very clean and well run!!! Will definitely be back!!!
I like the vastness of the park, and diversities of play areas for all ages. Life jackets available for little ones, if needed. Only big down side, the employees are mostly all J-1 visa workers, making service for drinks, food or snacks ridiculously slow, most times.
Fun, but...there are two slides in back that are almost never open, the food is not good at all, and the lifeguards are too busy making sure their heads bob up and down so everyone can see that they're "watching" their zones that they don't actually catch the dangerous situations when they arise. SO...if you stay with your kids to make sure they're safe, don't plan on eating in the park, and don't have your heart set on riding every slide in the park...it can be really fun.
Enjoyed my time, but 4 people was $190 so in my book was a little high
Attractions are fun, food an drinks are way overpriced. Staff is mostly kids and they're all pretty rude. If you have trouble with stairs don't come, this place is nothing but stairs. NO ONE EVER ANSWERS PHONE CALLS OR EMAILS. Then your comments are deleted off of their Instagram.
It was across the street from our hotel. The place had a good variety of slides and pools to enjoy. Most of the slides felt bumpy though and left you a little bruised. The lazy rivers seemed to be heavily congested with people. It seemed like every seat was taken and hardly a spot to place your towels and whatever you brought. The food was pricey but it did taste fairly well. But after being there for about 3 hours you felt like you had done everything and it was just about time to go and leave.
We honestly could not have been happier with our trip. We were invited as guests with season pass holders, and I was surprised at the difference it made. The line would have taken an hour alone, otherwise. The pools were clean, adequate staff, helpful. I felt very safe with my children there, the lifeguards were very attentive and evenly distributed throughout the park.
4 stars instead of 5 because the bathrooms smelled so bad I couldn't handle the stench. It was clean...and well kept, but there's no excuse for that odor.
We live this place been 10 times this summer everyone is very friendly and helpful
Honestly I bought the season pass for now, which to me was worth it because it was cheaper than the day. But I can see why... Alot of the rides were closed and the staff was extremely rude. I was wearing a normal bathing suit cover over my bathing suit because I had just had a baby and the staff member told me I was not allowed to do any rides unless I took it off which I was completely uncomfortable doing and hadn't had to the day before. It wasn't loose fitting and it wasn't doing any more harm than a male wearing a t shirt or a kid in a t shirt. The food was awful and the lines were absolutely bazaar. No one followed social distancing and it was an absolute nightmare.
When I looked the ticket prices up online I was like wow they are expensive, but after we went i seen that it was absolutely worth every penny. Great place to take your family. Even small kids. My family had the best time! Even my three year old got to ride almost every ride in the park.
Played mini-golf. Dirty, run down, tons of mosquitoes, and the teens running it at night play inappropriate gangsta rap full blast when children are playing. Don't waste your time and money.
I don't typically leave reviews, but my experience was horrible. There are no directions any where. The life guards are rude to guests, there are children that are looking for direction and they act like it's a crime to help them, if they don't like their job then they need to find another one. I stayed and hour and a half and left. The food tasted like it was cooked the night before and condiments was empty at noon. Not worth even one star
Worst experience we have had. We ve been coming to Big Kahuna for years but this time the course was in severe disrepair. Rudy, the mini golf course manager refused to give a discount. His choice, but we will never be back. Horrible customer service. Be forewarned. See the pictures: weeds growing up in the greens, debris all over, turf shredded and bare in places.
It s very fun !!!!
The food and lockers are a bit expensive the water s clean and rides are fun ( but there are so many stairs)!!
Good and Not So Good...
Good...Season Passes reasonably priced. Close to just about everything in Destin. In walking distance of many condos. Nice and helpful staff. Lots of slides! A few unique to other waterparks I've visited. Parking is a reasonable cost too or free if you get a season pass by a certain time. Beautiful view of the beach from atop many of the slides. Something there that should be "attractive" to all ages. Life guards seem attentive.
Not So Good...STEPS! So many steps! Food is expensive (as expected) but some just was NOT good and they wont let you even take in a sealed water bottle. It wasnt filthy, but it was one of the dirtier water parks I have visited. Wave pool is small so fills up quickly. They dont always have the slides on the lower end open. Unsure why but you walk all the way down there to find out they arent open. A sign at the front with what is open and what is closed would be helpful.
Overall a good experience though.
Visited on 7/13/18 with wife and 3 boys (10, 8 and almost 6). We went as soon as it opened at 10 am. If you do have to go, arriving early is one tip I can say is good advice.
We saw tubes available and we snatched them up since we knew from the reviews that this was an issue. However, my first tube ride was horrible. At the bottom of the first big dip that you start on, my 10 year banged his head hard on the side of the slide. I almost got whip lash. There were areas where I got stuck due to poor water flow as well. This place is seriously a joke.
Switched to the regular non-tube slides. Actually liked several of them. The life guards were as rude as advertised. Many spoke to one another and not guests. What little was said to my family was rude. The waits for these slides was not long though, and they were fun for my kids.
There is a strong vomit/diaper smell in multiple locations.
The water temperature in the wave pool was downright frightening. I mean, we got out immediately. It doesn't help that they have signs posted everyone relating to diarreha and letting you know that their water is recirculated. Freaking nasty.
After 3 hours, we were done (mom and dad). Kids could have stayed all day. We left, went to Chic Filet. We did not spend a dime on a locker or the horrendous food, which I chalked up to a win.
All in all, you may have to go to this place because your kids will drive by it in Destin. Our family talked about it though and concluded next time we visit, we will not go to Big Kahuna but will instead do another beach day at Henderson Beach State Park. We have way better water parks in San Antonio (Six Flags and Sea World). Big Kahuna can't hold a candle to those. What we don't have in Texas is water like the Florida Panhandle! Lesson learned. Save yourself and your money if you can!!!!
I will NEVER come back here...everything is over priced, rides shutdown in some of the busiest days.......overrated as HELL
I mean its fun its just that there water is horrible it tastes like pipe water ewwww and there pizza it is not even hot and ready same with funnel sticks it says it hot and fresh and its not even hot and if you order one slice of pizza its not even hot but if you buy a box it will be hot and fresh and everything is so much money how does this make any sense the waters there are two dollars and and that is only one tho but I can go to Wal-Mart and go buy twenty five bottles of water and that is three dollars and it makes no sense i mean you can't even bring anything that is food not even water and you can just bring a kid and if he is on your tube and your kid gets on you will get in trouble by the
Fun place for the family. Has 2 lazy rivers and lots of slides
Expensive and small, this place isn't really worth going to.
Great way to spend the day. With kids or Friends and Family
Life guards where rude as hell. $5 to park $98 for two people to get in and $15 for a locker, and that's just to get started. A drink was $7 and I won't even get started on the food. Anyway by the time it was over I'd spent well more than $150 for about 3 hrs of not so much fun. I'm a local I realize Destin's economy is based on tourism, but everyone else in this area typically gives locals a huge break. Oh I guess I'll go there, not only could I have gone to a five star restaurant for what I paid for a very shotty plate of nachos and a hot dog that was supposed to be a bratwurst I had to wait in two different lines for almost an hour and a half to get what I wanted because they only serve nachos at one place and what's supposed to be real food at another even though the two places are connected. The bathrooms, where so nasty that, that I was actually afraid to change in them even though when I asked about changing rooms the employees pointed me to a bathroom with two stalls and one bench, not much of a dressing room, hell I've been I ringside gas stations that where cleaner than that "dressing room". So no even though I ended up having a somewhat decent time in the end, the day was pretty much a bust, I went ahead and payed an additional $20 to upgrade my tickets to season passes so that maybe I can eventually get my money's worth. Hopefully it will be much better next time, but after my experience today I'd say it's fairly unlikely.
It's fun, it's wet... It's a water park, what more do you want? 2 stars off for following reasons only:
1. If you can't bring your own snacks & beverages (even though they have lockers), I don't think you should be gouged for every single thing you consume... especially when the quality of these items is so low. We're talking bargain basement quality burgers, gas station "nachos," and frozen drinks made with that fake wine-based "rum." This, by far, is the most egregious sin against consumers. Especially when you purchase one of their "use all over the park!" Kahuna Kash cards for 50 bucks only to find you can't use it for the lockers ($11 extra btw) or parking ($5 more) after you've already paid close to $130 for admission... for 2 adults and a kid.
2. You gotta stow your footwear to swim and slide, of course... but boy could they do something about the overall roughness of the grounds. Certain areas are also hot to the point of feeling a little... dangerous. I know it can't be smooth or soft, but compared to a few other water parks I've been to, my hard-footed family definitely felt the burn and the abrasions. I'm also diabetic, which means I have to be extremely careful about my feet or I could potentially lose one through just a minor cut. I took my own risks here, but yeah, I wouldn't risk it again.
3. Wave pool quit working partway through the day... which ends at 5pm, by the way, though the sun didn't set for over 3 more hours. Wave pool not working but full of people waiting for the waves. When customers asked staff - all of whom appear to be young teens - what was going on, they didn't know. "Sometimes it doesn't work." Ooookay well... we just wasted 30 minutes waiting for it to crank back on during what we thought was a break... 30 very expensive minutes we could have spent on other rides.
4. Good luck getting a tube. It's "find em in the lazy river" and "who can swim to it the fastest."
Pluses: staff, overall, are super nice (like I said, they're mostly kids) and the facility seemed pretty clean. I know the gripes seem long, but honestly, I'm just being overly detailed so you know what's up.
Great place. Fun for everyone. Lines are way better than other parks. Staff is friendly and helpful.
