I love it, I gave 4 stars because too often they have several rides/slides closed making the experience not full capacity but charging the same price. Many people come from different states and pay full price for half the park. That's just not right. I'm not talking one slide closed I'm talking main attractions and like 5 slides. That's how it's been all this month. We rode Thunder River once and then the slides at the end of Rhino River are all closed.

We had a blast. It was expensive to get in even with the $4 off coupon but it was worth it. It's packed fun of stuff and great rides. Would return again when back in Destin.
Good family fun. Many different attractions and slides. Pricing is confusing, purchased single day ticket, told that I could upgrade to a season pass for a little more. Told with the pass a guest with me wouldn't pay full price. Well I went back on the weekend and was told that the guest policy had changed and it was only for weekdays only. So I ended up paying for my guest at full price! Considering I was there a couple of days before it could have been handled better.
I took my 8 year old son to Wet & Wild in Orlando last summer and then we went here this summer and were completely disappointed. It's geared more towards little kids not the older ones. There weren't any "thrill" rides.
STAY AWAY! Spend your $ and go somewhere else. They advertise 40 slides, more like 11 and the biggest one was closed. Very overpriced for admission and food cost is OUTRAGEOUS! Whole park needs an overhaul. Yikes!!! Biggest slides were closed down so we rode 2 slides only the time we were there. Total waste of time and money. And to top it all off after spending $40 per person on admission. You have to pay $11 for a locker! Total rip-off!!!!!
Great place for a sunny day. The rides are fun. It's just a bit more expensive than it should be. However, the higher rides have a bit of an ocean view.
This place is fun if you go late spring (while school is still in session) because it is not terribly crowded. They do have some good slides and activities. Note: there is not a lot here for very young kids like toddlers to do. If you go during peak season (like July) some will see it as a waste of money. Pricey to get in (unless you are a season pass holder), long lines, fighting others to find a place to sit in the shade, overcrowded frustrations with some people, etc.. If you buy food it is average and not the healthiest. If you really want to do a water park in the area, this is probably the best choice....next best thing is Panama City or Gulf Shores.
After we bought tickets we got there and found out a good bit of the park was closed because they didn t have enough lifeguards - 3 rivers and 4 water slides. Frustrating to spend money and only find out after that they re not able to plan properly so you can actually get what you pay for. The part that was open was nice, hence the 3 stars.
Very disappointing. We are locals with season passes. Half of the park is closed. I don t know if they are short staffed or if closing half the park forcing everyone into a confined space is their idea of social distancing. The food is not good and there is only a couple people working the concession area. The girl cashiering at the concession area was even arguing with another guy working because he was Actually trying to help people and work quickly. This place is going downhill quickly....
This was the worst water park I have ever been too. 3 of the main slides were closed and part of the lazy river was closed as well. The park still charged us full price and did not warn us at the gate that most of their park was closed. I would not recommend this water park to anyone.
I had a lot of fun, but I gave two stars because most of the best rides were closed, the workers were not friendly. Some workers were rude if you ask for directions or assistance. The food was great.
Fun place. They got something there for everybody. Whether you want to relax the whole day or do something exciting it's there. Been there a few times and I've always enjoyed myself. The drinks are a bit pricey though.
This place was awesome. It was pretty expensive, $5 or parking and $11 for a locker but what do you expect from a tourist destination? The locker was very convenient and worth it!! We took our 3 years old and the kiddie pools and slides were awesome for her. I wish you could keep older kids from pushing and running but that is on the parents. The life guards were super nice. They are very aware of safety. My daughter had to wear a life vest when sliding on the large slides but I wish we could have gone with her since she wouldn't get one without us. But the kiddie slides made it worth it! The lazy rivers are fun with the waves and waterfalls. So much fun for a family!! We didn't eat or drink so I am not sure about food prices. Great fun and so glad we did it.
Confusing setup ( like a maze of stairs), very overpriced plus parking and lockers., for what is actually in the park. Water very murky = ?????. Not impressed. Also, I have no problem with hiring immigrant workers but when I order or ask a question at snack bar and they don't understand English, this is a problem. Won't be back. Would Not recommend.
Wonderful water park with a good range of attractions covering all ages. My 2 year old daughter was able to do so much more than opposed to our local waterpark (Waterville) while my 8 year old son and his buddy ran around all day having a blast
This is our first year going to Big Kahuna's Water Park. It's not the biggest, nor the best I've ever been to, but it is good. There is a good variation of slides, tube rides, and two separate lazy rivers. See the website for more info. Sure, food is outrageous - where is it not at a theme park generally? We found the staff to be courteous and helpful. The 'season' has yet to start and it will become more crowded, but having our platinum passes with free parking and something we can go and do any day of the season is great.
I've been in the area over 10 years; BK is continuing to go downhill. Tons of slides are closed (without notice), there are never enough tubes, and the price is continuing to get higher and higher. They used to power wash at night (10+ years ago), however the smells while walking the park tell you otherwise. I'm local and wish they would take pride, rebuild, and maintain the property to make BK great again...sad.
This was the biggest dissappoint of our vacation. Group of 34. due to a child's hair being too tall and the guy not willing to get out of his box to look at the correct measurement wanted to charge him a adult pricew had already been there for an hour waiting for this one gentleman to do his job with no help at all. the lady handling the money said fine charges all is an adult we are ready to get inside. Then he refused to give us that rate close the window. Unprofessional understaffed and unwilling to take a group of 34 people so they lost our business and any other big kahuna water park in the United States
I went here with my wife for a nice date day away from the stress of every day life. We only stayed for just over one hour before leaving. The water in the park was very dirty! We both felt like we would need a tetanus shot and some amoxicillin if we stayed any longer.
We love big kahunas! Always have a blast when we go. We get the season passes so we go quite often. Really the only complaint I have is the water gets quite warm in the kids' sections and wave pool, maybe they could get more flowing water in there to cool it down like the pirate bay place, that always has cool refreshing water because of all the water flowing into it. I think the rates for just a day are pretty high, but if you're getting a season pass the money is well spent!
Big Kahuna s is a win win. Attractions, including a couple of lazy rivers, a wave pool, and a surf wave! Great prices (season pass recommended) great vibes.
I bought season passes last year for my whole family and when we went parts of the park were closed and the water was very dirty and made us all sick. It smelt like sewer water in some spots. We never went back. I requested my money back and they never responded to me. I would not recommend going to this place.
Took my kids and grandkids for a combined birthday celebration. It was enjoyable. Two things is why I only gave it 3 stars. If you are going to charge to park you shouldn't have to walk through grass and weeds that are 2 foot tall. For the entrance fee they charge you should not have to fight for a tube. Staffed really well.
I rented Cabana a week before our trip to the park and the first issue was the vagueness of the actual locations of each cabana. I even called the park and the person I talked to was was no help. Be aware that just because you rent a cabana in advance, you will still have to stand in a line to register for it, then you have to wait in another line for an attendant. Be advised the Huminga.River cabanas suck. The best cabanas are by the kiddie pool and wave pool. It was nice to have an attendant to fetch your drinks & food,. The menu items were reasonably priced. We bought the 2018 souvenir cups and refills are .99 cents.I
Big Kahunas is a nice water park with plenty of rides, just a little pricey unless you buy a season pass. If you do huy a sesson pass, you nerd to get you season pass i.d made before you are planning on going or during the week. The line for the season pass i.d.s is very long and slow on weekends. prepared for large crowds on weekends during the summer. Weekdays are the best. They need a bathroom on the North & South ends of the park. The worst part of the park is the dusty gravel parking lot. Please add a cement parking lot.
We have gone very year on season passes. Only once did we have an something happen we where not happy with. One manager was rude, however since this time I have not seen her, I do not believe she is there anymore. Older park but still fun. My kids love it and that all that matters. they have 40 attractions not 40 slides! people complaining about that please read the site again, it says 40 attractions not slides! meaning the rides, slides, golf and go carts included in that count. Its not going to be a park like the ones in Orlando but a place kids will have fun. we went to Disney once and 1/2 the rides where closed because of weather/issues with rides it happens! as someone who has worked in customer service, please remember when issues arise that are not an employee's fault be nice when addressing it! you get more flies with honey then vinegar. Not every employee can handle a rude customer in a polite way, hey should try but some customers are completely out of line and some may not handle it in the best way. We are human and they have bad days too. be respectful and most of the time they will too.
we went yesterday and happy time of our life they have great slides and they take care of all of their water park stuff. It is a very fun place to go I wish one was closer. But we got the season pass so now I can go back anytime I want for freeeee
Very unfriendly staff. I came across 2 lifeguards that were actually friendly and communicated with us. Food court staff has terrible manners as well. About 6-7 people in line waiting to order food when the cashier decided to close the stand. No warning, no heads up just had us all waiting there until we couldn t be served. At least serve the customers who were there waiting for 10 + mins, then close your stand. The admission price was not worth the experience we had. While waiting in line for the lazy river we witnessed two life guards flipping each other off. Just very unprofessional and not worth the money. Couldn t even get the lifeguards to help with small children (as in helping them to properly go down the slide). They literally just stood there and looked down and said go without looking back. I would highly recommend retraining these kids on proper manners and procedures.
Disappointed in this year's trip. Several parts closed for maintenance, several concessions are closed, and beware of the swarming bees while you wait in line for the Tahiti Twister. My 5 yr old daughter was stung and scared to death to go back so we left.
Are you looking for a whole day of fun with the family? Big Kahuna's is a fairly priced, adventure packed park with plenty to give. You can spend two whole days here and still not hit all of the rides. Right off the bat you are welcomed to the beach atmosphere, wild rides, and plenty of views. And don't forget about the thrill rides outside the park!
we couldn't be there longer than an jour and a half since the weather didn't cooperate, but they were kind enough to refund us as we're from texas and will not be back to destin any time soon.
The lazy river slides that require tubes become congested easily and have spots where the water flow will actually take you uphill or hold you still instead of funneling you down. This can pose a safety risk if you are stuck in the middle of the slide and someone comes over the edge onto you (especially a larger person falling onto a small child. The staff (not all but a good amount) were extremely unhelpful. One spot that was bad for congestion had a lifeguard that was less helpful than a brick in a washing machine. She refused to help a man complaining of breathing issues and got an attitude when he asked for assistance. The only reason this place is around is the location. Don't waste your money on a water park that water worse than the beach across the street. Destin has great waters and fun places to go but this is $48 you can save. Buy a bucket of sand instead
It was HORRIBLE!! There was a ratio of 1 inner tube to every 10 people!! The manager said sorry, you will just have to take it away from someone ( and referenced a child).. I brought my 2 kids to the waterpark I mind u that. Plus I purchased a fountain drink , they didn't have ice!! Plus it was nasty!! I never posts bad reviews... But my kids asked us after just 2 hours could we leave. Beware!
Overall pretty good good Waterpark. Admission is like $38-48 depending on if you're military or not. BUT, visit Groupon we got our tickets for $29. Only reason I gave 4 stars is because like 4+ rides were closed due to end of season not enough lifeguards I mean.. it s still the season so that s not really a valid excuse.. people pay full price for this. But.. when we left apparently it s $5 parking but there was no one there collecting money so that was alright with us
NO WAY! This park had most of their attractions closed and the ones open looked run down. i would not have paid the entrance fee 42 + 5 for parking, but we received a gift of 3 free tickets and had to pay for only too. (total of 5).
this park is not what it shows in youtube, or travel channel. we were done in 3 hrs so we left!
It was very very bad the food was horrible and the sodas were flat half of the rides were shut down it s a waste of money and the life guards wete not nice she blew her wisstle as my sister
As a water park. It was really fun. Even though I went on a Saturday, it wasn't even that crowded. I think the longest I waited in line as ~15 minutes. The only thing that I didn't like was the food. We rented a cabana, and a server would come by and get food for us, and he messed up our order. And the food was not good at all.
But the park itself was really entertaining. It was clean, and wasn't crowded.
Seems every year part of park is closed down when their penalty of time in off season to have everything up and running yet charge the price this year it been over populated and the stuff needs to be trained better and it's not that clean pools are dirty
